Holy moly Stacey! Lucky you realized 😆 We can laugh now 😃 Crisis averted. Awesome that you were on hand to help the poor guy after his accident, and enjoyed exercising your medical expertise. Btw, you look good in that blue 😃 Aileen is such a good friend to you 😊 I love that you share everything with us, I would have been really curious if you hadn't shown us the beans and pot 😃 Great video.
Hi Stacey! I have also had a huge scare. I NEVER leave food on when I’m away (even a crockpot) because I’m terrified of burning the house down. Anyway a year back I had had a busy day, wanted to get dinner ready and take my doggo for a walk so I decided it would be ok to leave tomatoes in the oven roasting on a low heat (for a pasta sauce) while I go for a quick walk. So I’m on my way home and there are fire trucks racing down the street I live on, I thought it was odd so I start walking quicker, I turn the corner where I can almost see my house and they have closed the road RIGHT OUT THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE. I’m panicking and running up to the house sure there must be a fire because of my bloody tomatoes… anyway it turns out there was an accident right out the front of my house (everyone was ok). Safe to say after that fright something was trying to teach me a lesson and I will never ever leave food on while I m gone again. 😬
Burnt pot - this is where I am an accidental expert. Smear some tomato sauce / ketchup / whatever you guys call it, over the burned part. Leave it for about 20 mins or longer. Give it a good rub and rinse in hot water. Works like a dream. It works great for baking pans too. Even baked on crud comes off.
I enjoyed watching you this morning Stacey. Thank goodness you got back home in time to prevent something worse happening. I still cant get over how much you achieve in a day, oh and i loved when you said your cow jar was stinking cute. So kiwi😂😂
The boy is over 6' because of your cooking you know Stace. I have those tempered glass pots and once boiled one dry. It just had water in it so I could see the element under it glowing red. Nearly was too scared to get close to turn the stove off. Thought it would explode, but it was all good in the end. Bet we have all had our moment in the kitchen. Hope your knee feels good soon.
Wow Stacey someone above was looking out for you, I know what's it's like our son is an MT and gets a call of duty to assist or comes across a situation and yep first in you do what you need to do for that person. Thank you for your assistance in that challenging moment. Love your channel and all you do. So proud to be a Kiwi xx
Holy fright! What an ordeal! I'm glad your house didn't go up in flames while you were being a superhero. When we all calm down, I bet this will be one of your favourite stories. Trix had an adventure as well, so all good. And you kept filming. And cooking. Amazing!
Stacy you can freeze your eggs as well. I freeze eggs when they are on sale by cracking into a silicone muffin pan then once frozen I put in zip lock bag. They are good for a year this way.
I’m so happy you were on scene for the gentleman in the accident but I’m so sorry to hear about your burnt beans. I hate it when I forget something on the stove, I recently destroyed one of my favorite pots. 😣😖
So thankful you didn’t burn down your house! But also so thankful you were there for the rollover driver! You’ve given me confidence to try my own pasta! We’ll see how it goes. 😬 In my family we call this salad ‘Lucious 7 Layer Salad.’ Its delicious and yours was beautiful! Thank you for another great video! 💕
Very well, thank you! Always happy to see your face pop up in a video! I forgot to tell you, I got tickled today when you said, “Okey Dokey!” I thought that was strictly an American colloquialism. 😊
For the burnt bottom the baking soda is perfect but you have to bring the pot of water to a boil. Then let it sit for several hours or overnight. Repeat if necessary 😉
😮what amazing timing! Definitely looked after by our Father in Heaven. Thank you for looking after the gentleman in the roll-over! You're incredible 🎉❤❤❤ wow what a beautiful colour that pasta is ❤️
Stacey, your salad OMG its a 'Salad Trifle' , its fancy looking but yet so simple.... thanks for sharing. Glad your kitchen is ok and glad you were there for that poor injured soul. Take care
Glad you got you use your EMT skills again, how lucky was the guy that you helped! Then after all of that excitement to remember the beans on the stove… so happy to hear you got home on time… you really were Super Hero Stacey today! Seriously though so grateful that you got home in time and nothing worse happened. Put your feet up and rest your knees Stacey. 🤗
Wow! Crazy days...lol Thank goodness you realized your stove was on! That salad and the lasagna both looked delicious! Tysm for sharing. Take good care,Stacey 😊
I have NEVER thought to do a salad like that & it would be wonderful on the christmas table. We usually just make a tossed salad which never looks amazing like that!! I will have to tell my granddaughter about this trick!! I would love it with prawns in it as would my son-in-law but the rest of the family wouldn't!! Some of them wouldn't like the bacon either!! A fussy lot - my family!! I remember burning my pots years ago & the secret for a stainless steel pot was to place it empty & dry on top of the burner & turn it on high & the burn flakes off the base. Your pot wasn't so bad as some of the ones I have burnt over the years. I have a brain that says; "right, that job is done & completely forgets that I have to come back when it is finished. I also don't hear the timers go off either unless it is one that doesn't shut off & like the alarm clock I have to go & turn it off. Then I may remember what I was doing. Thankfully, these days all my appliances turn off when the time is finished. I must admit there have been many times when I finally remember that I was steaming my veggies or reheating a meal, it may have been an hour or more previously, so now I have to reheat them & hopefully not forget this time!! He was a very fortunate man having you turn up with your skill in knowing what to do for triage. It is amazing how many people have no idea or just plain panic!! We used to have to do first aid courses every few years when I was working in the NH industry but I have always been cool & calm in emergencies & when it is all over & done with - then I have my little meltdown.
Stacey - Hi from the Top of the South. I burnt a pot of red kidney beans the other day. The smell was horrific and my pot looked just like yours. Three "baking soda and boil it down" sessions and the pot is now clean again. Phew! I really empathise with you.
One of my favorite memories with the kids is making egg noodles and drying them on the wooden clothes drying racks! Lots of fun and we had yummy buttered noodles at dinner! :)
Crikey, that was a close one! Glad all turned out well in the end. I've been thinking about making pasta, but as I don't have chickens, I'd have to buy the eggs, and that would make it expensive. Hmmm. Will try the farmer's market for eggs when I can get there.
oh dear I know that smell of burnt beans. Did the same thing 35 years ago when my kids were small and vividly remember. Put the beans on to cook and we popped off to the meadows and came home to it. Scrubbing the pot and the airing out the flat took forever. It set off the upstairs neighbour's smoke alarms and they were not amused. I was glad we were moving out soon afterwards to come home to NZ.
Oh Stacy my heart wept for you but at least God had your back and the person in the vehicle. Life throws you curve balls but it's now you deal with them that matters. Hats off to you young lady. 💕💕🙏💕💕
Your layered salad is truly a work of art! And it was so much fun watching you make the pasta- that little machine does a wonderful job. So glad you didn’t come home to a fire!
Hi Stacey, as you have a dishwasher, dish powder in the burnt pot, hot water and let it sit. Should then just wash out. ❤ multi tasking and multi skilled especially the emergency response. ❤
Crikey Stacey you got home just in the nick of time,😮 phew how lucky you were. Oh how i love the beautiful gifts from Aileen, such a talented lady, the totes are amazing. The salad looks sensational. Another good vid, thank you❤
Well Stacey, your day has been filled with all sorts of happenings. Let’s hope you don’t have any more of that sort of excitement again for a long while. Glad you were going past and were able to help that couple who were in the rolled over car. They are pretty lucky that you were going past at that time. Your beans weren’t so lucky but your home was. This will be a story to tell your grandchildren when you have some and they are old enough to listen. (Sorry I don’t know if you have grandchildren or not). This made for a very exciting episode in your life Stacey and Trixie had some excitement also. TFS and hope the rest of your week is drama free. Your lasagne noodles look fantastic. Wish I’d made pasta when my 5 kids were younger. I used to make lots of things but never tried pasta. I always thought it was hard to make, well that will teach me for not looking into it more I guess.
So glad you still have a Farmer's Wife's kitchen after the bean disaster 😲! At least the beans weren't completely wasted. I've always been intimidated by pasta making....you've inspired me to give it a go....and yes, the colour of yours is amazing.
Hi lovely lady, I love my veges and your salad looks absolutely delicious. Glad you got home intime in spite of stopping to attend to an accident. What an afternoon. Stacey, your videos are very inspiring, and I appreciate your time. From Hamilton, take care all.
Woah that was dramatic Stace, I have done that many time over the years scary stuff. Glad all worked out. The chopped salad looks sensational. Thanks for sharing. ❤
So easy to forget something when you have a dozen or so other things on your mind. Onwards and upwards, a pan of burnt beans is better than a burnt house 😊 A tip I learned many years ago - soak your burnt pan in cold water only and leave it overnight. All burnt food should lift off in the morning without scraping. It always works for me anyway.
I have the KitchenAid pasta roller, couldn't recommend more if anyone is considering purchasing one. Watch out for the sales though, they can be ridiculously cheap.
OMG, Aileen, if you see this, your work is absolutely amazing! I would love to get in touch with you for a project if you are at all interested? I’ve been a follower of Stacey’s since the beginning and have so enjoyed seeing the absolute adoration and love in her eyes when she shares her gifts with us that you have created for her! Such fun! So, my friend, even if you’re not able to help this old gal out (name your price, you’re worth every penny!), I would understand completely as sometimes it’s much more fun to craft as a hobby for friends and family but just know that your skills are fantastic and very much appreciated by all! Much love from the other side of the world, a Canadian and a sister in all things homesteady! 🥰🇨🇦🥰 xoxo
I will pass this message on to her. So sweet of you and I absolutly love you have been here from the beginning. I want to say thank you so much for your support.
I tell you what darlin I always say when things like this happe it was meant to be. Meant to be keeping you from being in a place you shouldn’t be. Happended to me the other day was late getting to a place and I was like yep that was meant to be. Even though it seems bad at the time I’m like it may have saved me from worser things
Wow I’m glad you were there for the man and got home to save your house. If l don’t type what I’m thinking by the time your video finishes l forget lol. Glad your ok after your fall
Hi Stacey thank you so much for sharing one thing i need to ask is if you have a recipe for rhubarb pie & trifle recipe. I remember having those two when I was younger. Glad you managed to get to it before it almost took your house. Once again thank you
That salad looks delicious Stacey! You’re making me hungry and now I know what I’m making our family for dinner tonight! Yum, can’t wait to eat! Much love as always my friend. 🥰🇨🇦🥰
Wow! What an adventure. Lucky with happy end! I love the stuff your friend made. Can;t wait for your shop!. You were certainly busy with cooking and baking. Crafty lady. Thank you for sharing. Cheers!
Greetings, when i was an apprentice i had to deep fry snitties and was distracted by a very attractive youn lady i filled the kitchen with smoke, everyone yelled at me the boss just said, you wont do that again, and walked away, it took over 2 weeks to clean everything including the ceiling, on my own ,everyone has a horror story in the kitchen, some of us learn the hard way.
What a stressful day for you ! Pleased things worked out ok in the end. that salad reminded me of the trifle Rachel made in friends with the mince beef in being in that dish 😂 did look delicious tho and I could easy dive in with a fork x
I burned butter into my stainless pan and it looked black like yours. I can't remember how i got it off but i did. I searched it on youtube. It came off so i know there's a way. Glad you were there for the guy in the accident and made it home in time!🙏⚓
I give an update in next weeks video but we will be making a loaf soon. Unfortunately I've not been home to find the time :-) I am looking forward to it as well
The best way to clean a burnt pan like that is to cover the black burnt bit with white vinegar , leave overnight and it comes off practically on its own own
Stacey when my youngest daughter was two I put some peanuts 🥜 on the stove. Got it up to boiling and turned down to simmer. My daughter wanted me to read her a book so we went to the bedroom to lay on the bed and read. Well I feel asleep. I woke to my daughter shaking me saying there’s smoke everywhere. I’d boiled the pot dry and the whole house was full of smoke. Strange thing is both smoke detectors never once worked. It seemed they only work when we burn toast and the battery goes flat at 2am😂
Washing powder would’ve shifted the burnt stuff off your pan. You put a layer over the burnt bits, top off with water and leave overnight, and the next morning it all just magically lifts off in the wash. I’ve got stainless steel pans older than my grown up kids and I’ve rescued them this way more often than I can remember.
Freeze dryer s cost more than a small car. I have dehydrated raw eggs and they have kept for 2 yrs. I keep them in the fridge or bottom cupboard where it’s cold.
Glad you didn't burn your house down. I cam home from work one day and my husband was done at the pool * we loved in an apartment that had a pool, as he was enjoying pool time. he had put a pot of beans o the stove and though he would be back in time to turn them off but he fell asleep in thr pool on hid ir matress and thr manger had to get him and trll him about it. thre maintence man had gone in and turned it off when a neighbor had called and smoke coming out and could smeel the burnt beans. by the time i got home the smoke had been cleared out not fire had broke out, praise nthe Lord. I was very surprise they didn't fine us for this. but my husband has learned ne3ver to go anywhere when there is food on the stove. So inall this I csn trutfully say I know how you felt. We laugh about it now, but then I tell hime Never again and he agrees.

Whole tomatoes chopped up too. Great suggestion of the sauce
Wow makes you wonder what’s in the sauce? Must be the acid I guess.
I enjoyed watching you this morning Stacey. Thank goodness you got back home in time to prevent something worse happening.
I still cant get over how much you achieve in a day, oh and i loved when you said your cow jar was stinking cute. So kiwi😂😂

They are from Thermomix, and they are brilliant :-)
What an adventure you’ve had! Just breathe😅 Love from Mangonui🌸
Beautiful gifts! Glad you and your home are safe.
For the burnt bottom the baking soda is perfect but you have to bring the pot of water to a boil. Then let it sit for several hours or overnight. Repeat if necessary 😉
I only needed to have it on low for around 15 minutes, and it all came off just fine 🙂
I was so thankful it worked a treat.
There's no coming back from scorched or burnt beans. So glad you caught them in time to prevent a fire. What a day! 😊

Look up acre homestead,s recipe for baked oatmeal. Uses like 5 eggs for an 8x8 pan of baked oatmeal squares. Very delicious too.

I burned butter into my stainless pan and it looked black like yours. I can't remember how i got it off but i did. I searched it on youtube. It came off so i know there's a way. Glad you were there for the guy in the accident and made it home in time!🙏⚓
The baking soda worked well :-)
I remember having a pig’s pail under the sink when I grew up on a farm. 😊
Holy ....... what a morning you had.
So so lucky, I think you should get a lotto ticket 😁
Stacey I have dehydrated eggs to powder....they have a oily finish but ok...then vacumed the jars....

Hi ? How's the sour dough starter waiting to make a loaf can't wait love the video
I give an update in next weeks video but we will be making a loaf soon. Unfortunately I've not been home to find the time :-) I am looking forward to it as well
The best way to clean a burnt pan like that is to cover the black burnt bit with white vinegar , leave overnight and it comes off practically on its own own
I like these cooking videos!
Oh my goodness, that’s scary! Glad you're all ok.
Loved all your day Well done
Can we have your muscli bar receipt
Thanks Have nice day
I promise it is coming soon. I will be home again very soon :-)
Thanks for the tip!
Close call for you both. I am glad it was all ok for you. :-)
OHHH 😂 yes, that i can relate to 🌪️
