Masked Marvel- The 2011 St. Leger Stakes (Doncaster)

The 2011 St Leger Stakes was run at an unusually strong pace, making it a thorough test of stamina. Masked Marvel passed the Ballydoyle contender Seville two furlongs from home, opened up a clear lead, and stayed on strongly to win by three lengths in a race record time of 3;00.44.
William Buick was the jockey on the day. The Masked Marvel was trained by John Gosden and owned by Bjorn Nielsen.

Masked Marvel came into this race with two wins in the listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood and G3 Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket, but after winning the St Leger he never won anything again in Europe or Australia when he went there.
