- Commanche Run (1981--2005) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse. Commanche Run won the 1984 St. Leger Stakes with the help of jockey Lester Piggott. The horse was trained by Luca Cumani and owned by Ivan Allan. Commanche Run's time on the day was 3;09.93

Had a good bet on hot spark trained by dermot weld ,looked beaten but Lester got him up.

Commanche Run walks very gingerly and Lester immediately turns around to look at his hindquarters for whip marks which he just starts to begin to smooth over with his hand when the video ends!
Lester was a demon in a finish and the world's best at getting a horse to win that no other jockey would have had the skill and strength to do.
