  • An unboxing and review of the Sea-Monkeys Robo-Diver kit!
    The sea monkey robo diver was released in 2002. It's one of the rarest and most coveted kits from Transcience as it was only available for a very short time and wasn't particularly well stocked when it was released. In this video I do tutorial for how to use the sea monkeys robo-diver showing how to use it and some times for how to hatch and grow out brine shrimp. This is very similar in design to other sets such as the magic castle or mars kits because of its shape.

    Thanks, John!!! I’ve waited 20 years for you to come along and make a video showing me this kit in action. It’s super cool … but also super complicated. A better gimmick than an actual functioning feature. This is definitely one of the most elaborate of all Sea-Monkey kits alongside the Space Shuttle. You can really see George Atamian’s influence in this kit. I love imagining him and Harold having “business” meetings talking about creating this kit like two excited kids. That sums both of them up … big kids!!! Exceptional video. Thanks for the shout out and fulfilling my 20 year old dream of seeing this in action. - Tod

      Glad you enjoyed the video, Tod! It's definitely a little gimmicky, but I had a lot of fun testing it out. I imagine George & Harold loved seeing this idea come to fruition and actually work. Thanks again for your help with this one mate 🤙

    I just bought my first sea monkey tank yesterday! I picked the Mars tank, and I can't wait to get home and get them set up. I'm currently looking for a small heat pad, since I'm in Canada and I like to keep my home cool, even in winter. I even joined the clubhouse group. Thanks for all the suggestions!

      Hey Victoria :) Oh that’s exciting! I’ve never had the Mars tank before but I love the design, I’ll definitely have to get one someday. I’ve found that the heat pad is only really capable on increasing the tank temperature by a few degrees, so it’s often not strong enough during the winter. I keep my house quite cool too so the USB heater is a more effective heating option for me

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 года назад +4

    • @asroneightyseven3854
      @asroneightyseven3854 2 года назад +5

      I would recommend using one of those mat heaters if you get the Mars tank (its my favorite tank). That's what I ended up going with and then using the USB heater for one of the flatter and wider Sea Monkey tanks.

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 года назад +5

      @@asroneightyseven3854 yeah this is a very good point. In my experience the heat mats are only able to raise the tank temperature by a few degrees though, while the USB heater is much more effective at keeping the tank warm. If you live somewhere that gets quite cold I think the USB heater is the better option, while the heat mat is ideal for warmer climates

    I was wondering if it was alright if the tube of my air pump isn’t touching the bottom/bubbles not hitting the bottom.
    It stays about 2/3 of the way in but that’s the best I can get it as the tube keeps it’s curve.

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 года назад +2

      No need to apologise :) I’m more than happy to answer your questions.
      It doesn’t matter if the airline doesn’t touch the bottom - the most important thing is that the bubbles are slightly disturbing in the surface of the water, because that’s where the gas exchange / oxygenation happens :) ideally you would have the airline near the bottom as it helps with water circulation around the tank but it doesn’t really make a big difference 👍

    • @pico-cosmos

      The salts would dissolve eventually, but I imagine at first the water's salinity would be strong towards the bottom of the tank relative to the top. The weird salinity distribution might mess with the baby Sea-Monkeys

    Been debating about getting one of these sea monkey kits. Used to see them an awful lot when I was little. I have no idea how well they'd do here in Scotland, especially during winter.
    Seeing all these fancy aquariums has got me wondering if anyone has printed any? I'm aware of some dangers as I have 3d printers myself. FDM prints in layers so the issues with that is obvious. Resin probably would be better but even now Resin printers are expensive and come with a learning curve and a lot of maintenance.
