Hey I'm sorry to hijack the top comment but I'm hoping someone can answer a question I have? I have an old tank that I've been keeping in the window sill (everybody has died in it) and it's finally grown a decent amount of algae on the bottom. Would it be okay to empty the water, refill with spring water then start again with a new colony of sea monkeys? Any advice would be much appreciated thank you!
This is something i think steven hillenburg, the late creator of spongebob, would like, especially because he was a marine biologist, and made "The Intertidal Zone" with sponge boy, as an educational way to teach kids about marine biology

I managed to hatch some old eggs in my Sea Monsters kit too! It was a similar situation to this one where there were thousands of eggs and a few managed to hatch :)
I would definately love one of these, it is a shame it didn't stick around long as it looks very well made even compared to the main brand offerings. A compromise to the lid situation could be to 3D one with the holes plumbed in and maybe a hatch for feeding, keeping the design of the chest and the original lid intact but letting you keep quality of life for them up.
So fun fact, I don't know if they still do this but I'm fairly certain at this time they were, Nickelodeon would license the Spongebob IP to dang near anybody for anything that could reasonably be marketed to kids. Nickelodeon didn't want to bother with putting in the work for toy manufacturing, so instead they created a WILDLY popular cartoon with companies practically begging to slap that sponge on everything possible. And it works! From kids microwave meals to the vitamins to replace what the meal was lacking, if you can name a household object there is almost certainly a Spongebob branded version of it available at some point in the US. There was even a line of Spongebob perfumes out recently that quite a few perfume collectors were saying were legitimate, good fragrances and not just kids play scents. This is probably the most normal Spongebob merchandise I could expect.
I've seen this on ebay a few times (maybe even at my local antique mall once!) but I don't think I've ever actually seen a review of it, pretty surprising that some of the eggs still hatched with how old it is
really leaning into the plankton scheme with the copepods personally i think it would have been cooler if they used the chumbucket model as the tank decor, maybe with spongebob running around it or something, as that would have been much more on theme
Is there a fixed ratio of salt particles to water, to grow a packet of sea monkey ? I have a 800ml tank and was wondering if that amount of water can support one packet of seamonkey eggs and one packet of salter and water purifier
Each Sea-Monkey starter kit only has enough salt for a maximum of 350ml of water, so for an 800ml tank it’s best to use 3 starter kits (6 pouches total)

Hey John, may I ask what your favourite tank is? You've reignited my fascination with the little guys and I'm planning to get a new tank with the aerator and heater you recommend.
I've been wanting a shrimp tank for so long but too broke to buy one with all the chemicals and live plants and substrate etc etc that you have to buy for them. This channel has me thinking I'm about to buy an airline kit, a little heater, and a children's sea monkey kit. Get myself a shrimp tank the size of a mason jar. Maybe not actually in a mason jar.
The kit is cute, but I particularly love your larger natural tank that you briefly showed. How would you advise setting up a small tank (not standard size that comes in the kits) and how could I transfer my Sea Monkeys with some on their existing algae growth please??
Hi there! I don’t have any other way to message you so I thought I’d leave this here. I wanted sea monkeys as a kid, but never had them. I did, however , have triops. I really loved dinosaurs and was sold on the “living fossil/dinosaur” marketing they were using. I had them in grade school in the 90s. I was wondering if you’d want to do a video on those.
The decoration on the kit is nice, but the space between the decoration and the faces bothers me because the eggs get stuck between the two. I also think it's a shame to have to drill holes to let air and accessories through, especially when you want to keep the original design. Thanks for your video, which allowed us to discover this kit.🤩

A compromise to the lid situation could be to 3D one with the holes plumbed in and maybe a hatch for feeding, keeping the design of the chest and the original lid intact but letting you keep quality of life for them up.
Yeh totally agree 👌 3D printing a lid for this would be ideal, though I don’t think I’ll take the time to do it 😅
If you haven't yet would you review Aqua Dragons in space?
Ahh that makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the insight :)
I can finally team up with Plankton and Find out what the Krabby Patty Secret Formula is!
Lololol I want a real life krabby patty sooo bad
That's a fun little tank. I wonder what that 'yellow' food was made from. Is it like a yeast or something?
Yeah I assume it’s yeast based. Looks very similar to a food pack I got from Arizona Fairy Shrimp
It looks like Plan: Preserved Plankton Platoon didn't work quite as well as hoped.
Hey have you done any videos on your DIY tank you mentioned? Would love to see more of it
Only on my IG highlights 👍
I'm seeing so much spongebob stuff as of recent
I feel like I have been too!
I think it’s will more make sense if it are copepod egg.
Definitely! Copepods are too small to be pets though lol
i like the design. just not a spongebob fan. a tank like it without those figures though would be neat
I like the idea of a modular approach, something that let you clip in different decor options would be good
I've seen this on ebay a few times (maybe even at my local antique mall once!) but I don't think I've ever actually seen a review of it, pretty surprising that some of the eggs still hatched with how old it is
Guppy Fish is Aquarium's brine shrimp. 😋
also, looking at that tank-only version of the product, the image looked AI generated(or at least upscaled) so may be fake
I upscaled it quite significantly, the original image was tiny 😅
@@pico-cosmos ah, that makes sense then.
really leaning into the plankton scheme with the copepods
personally i think it would have been cooler if they used the chumbucket model as the tank decor, maybe with spongebob running around it or something, as that would have been much more on theme
Hey man I was hoping to start growing what sea monkey kit would you recommend to buy?
Sea-Monkeys Ocean Volcano is my favourite starter kit 👌 Ocean Zoo is a good option too
Agree. Ocean-Volcano is a solid kit design. The wider design makes the pets easier to see and the textured substrate is good for algae growth.
Winter in NZ?! It's still 90 degrees F over here in TX ☹☹😢😢
Keep up the great videos. I remember getting these products as a kid maybe twice...I find it fascinating that there's a Niche community for B. Shrimp. I always watch your videos, usually short and great production value...Most YTbers be uploading 30 minute videos...So i dont have much time.
🥵 I’d melt in that kinda heat! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the content :) honestly I already feel like my videos are too long 😅 I don’t know how other people have the time to make 30min long videos
Hey John, may I ask what your favourite tank is? You've reignited my fascination with the little guys and I'm planning to get a new tank with the aerator and heater you recommend.
I think the Sea-Monkeys Ocean Volcano is the best tank for adding in accessories. The MagiQuarium is great too 👍
I thought as much.. thanks!
I need to go to sleep... But I have to watch this video first.
WE NEED A KILLIFISH EGG HATCHING VIDEO!!!!!
YESSSSH! Hope they re-release it.
SPONGEBOBB
I've been wanting a shrimp tank for so long but too broke to buy one with all the chemicals and live plants and substrate etc etc that you have to buy for them.
This channel has me thinking I'm about to buy an airline kit, a little heater, and a children's sea monkey kit. Get myself a shrimp tank the size of a mason jar. Maybe not actually in a mason jar.
HES WEARING THE BURGER KING PLANKTON WRISTWATCH
I wish I had a time machine to go back in time and buy one😢
The kit is cute, but I particularly love your larger natural tank that you briefly showed.
How would you advise setting up a small tank (not standard size that comes in the kits) and how could I transfer my Sea Monkeys with some on their existing algae growth please??
Hi it’s me Apple and I’m wondering how often should I feed my sea monkeys growth food?
Check out my video titled “how to keep your Sea-Monkeys alive”
this just reminds this one of an early zoids kit that was converted into an aquarium toy or something
How did you make your DIY tank? I want to make one for my classroom!
As a kid, who loved SpongeBob and see monkeys, I would have totally bought this if they advertised it more.
Hey! I’ve never tried raising Triops but they’re definitely on my radar! I’ll try raising them later this year :)
You know, including a heater below the substrate of the "sand" would have been nice, as well as a hole in the lid for a bubbler.
This would make a good farm for feeders.
If this was available I would get it as a gift for a particular friend 😁
