Yes! I liked this episode when it first aired. And watching it last night, at 58 years-old, it hits differently. Having seeing friends bury their parents, and seeing older friends age, this episode is incredibly moving. LOVE this show! ❤
The "You can always talk to Rose" line always went over my head as a kid (I'm assuming the reason it got laughs was because she has such a high kill count - even if unintentional)
this episode, is both sad & funny. sad, because Martha wanted to end her life. funny, because of Rose's story. Rose: 'Sven came back, to haunt Gunilla. since then, every Tuesday night at 10, 9 Central.'
@AlexxaReacts Martha and Sophia hits hard because so true for some elders. Once again Estelle shows her stellar ability to make Sophia’s sad scenes pierce our soul.
Yeah this episode is a hard hitting one mainly due to Sophia's speech towards the end. She did a terrific job making the scene believable. It is a tough situation and unfortunately things like this happen in real life. I was glad she was able to turn it around. Keep up the good work! 😊
This episode hits me personally. Im 31yo and between the ages of 14 and 29, I've tried unaliving myself over a dozen times, but fail everytime. Like Martha, I've felt alone and could hear the silence. I didn't know why i was still here when i have nobody around who cares about me. I'm doing better now, but everytime i see this episode i still break down in tears bc it just hits so hard
Thanks! I have really enjoyed your reactions over the last couple of months. I love the golden girls and it had been fun watching you see all the episodes for the first time. I look forward to watching more! 😊
For some reason, even though many of Rose's St Olaf stories may be funnier and crazier, the words "St Olaf's meanest ventriloquist" absolutely make me lose it. 🤣😂
While I get what Sophia is saying; ...I can sympathize with, and relate to why Martha wants to.... take herself out of the game... :( this life is not easy or fair, and the world, because of the people, is not nice to be in, most days.
Gosh I wouldn't be able to withstand the ongoing pain if I ever get to such old age with many illnesses... I'd probably do what Martha tried to do, tbh. I really hate the idea of dying slowly with pain. I'd rather have it quick and easy...
Another example of GG taking on an very real and very serious topic you don't see in television...

Yes indeed
That scene with Sophia and the baby is adorable and heartwarming.
Crazy to think that the baby actor has got to be well over thirty now

He’s not feeling so well so we thought we would have you over for a drink 😂

They don’t make ‘em like this anymore
This script was a total knock off on the movie "three men and a baby" out at the time.
