  • I picked up a Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630, which has a 15.6 inch 4K UHD Touchscreen and an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U processor. In this video I do an unboxing and compare it to my 2015 MacBook Pro, Samsung Galaxy Book Ion, and the Brydge G-Type keyboard for the Pixel Slate.
I purchased my 4K C630 from Amazon here:
    amzn.to/2WJPhgF
The non-4K variant with a FHD display is available here:
    amzn.to/2WSpi6S
On Amazon, the only Google Pixel Slate that is currently available through Prime is the M3 variant:
    amzn.to/34MZvQU
I am a big fan of the Brydge G-Type keyboard for the Pixel Slate:
    amzn.to/3eBS1oa
And there are some compelling reasons to get the folio style Google Pixel Slate Keyboard:
    amzn.to/2wQ3pfe
You can get the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 15.6” | Samsung Laptop with QLED Display and Intel Core i7 Processor from Amazon:
    amzn.to/3c6Xjqe
In this video, i am wearing the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2:
    amzn.to/2r2XVLs
you can get the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ on Amazon:
    US: amzn.to/2KRI60Y
I recorded the screen using the AVerMedia LIVE Gamer Portable 2 PLUS:
    Amazon - amzn.to/2DKpux3
    eBay - ebay.to/2SbFYlD
I picked up the Lepow 15.6 inch portable monitor from Amazon:

Thanks for this review. I actually had a 2019 MacBook Pro 16" and the Lenovo C630 4K. I returned the MacBook Pro 16 and kept the Lenovo 630 4K. When you put them side-to-side, the Lenovo easily exceeds the MacBook Pro 16 screen sharpness. I do need to have an Apple laptop for other reasons, and bought their least expensive MacBook Air. Just couldn't beat the 4K screen on this one.

Yeah, I love my Lenovo Yoga Chromebook. I love it so much, I returned the Samsung Galaxy Book Ion Windows laptop that I had and got a Lenovo Yoga C940 instead. I also got my son the Lenovo Chromebook 3, I should have videos on both soon

The problem I have with a 4k Chromebook is that you cannot play native 4k on many of the media channels, from Netflix to Amazon Prime; YT is okay. So it does restrict the use of such a premium display.
The great thing about a 2-year-old Chromebook is that it does age well. I have used them since they were born and even my Acer is still sprightly with 4gb RAM and a 6th gen i3.
At the right price the C630 4k seems a nice bit of kit. Cheers.

Well, even without viewing 4k content, things on the screen just looks good. For example, I got that 1080P QLED display Samsung Galaxy Book Ion and the 4K Lenovo Chromebook on the same day. I use each every day while I am trying to get a feel for them. Even something as simple as using Google Messages on the web, text looks so much better on the 4K.
In the case of the Lenovo Yoga Chromebook, the 4K variant is less than $100 more than the non-4K version. And the FHD version had some complaints about the screen being a bit yellow. And with the FHD, some had backlit keys and some didn't. With the 4K, both of those issues were resolved.

Excellent review, thank you! You have mentioned you have a 2015 MacBook pro, how does this compare to the MacBook (mainly keyboard, trackpad, and display)? I love my 2014 MacBook Pro retina 15 inch but want to try a Chromebook with a large screen and this one seems like the best choice but isn't talked about as much as devices like the Pixelbook Go.

      I have a 2015 and 2016 MacBook Pro, both 13 inch.
I prefer the Lenovo keyboard to both and I think the 2016 MBP has one of the worst keyboards I have ever used. I also prefer the Lenovo display, but it is also 4k and much larger so that might be clouding my judgment.
The trackpad is another story. The Chromebook trackpads that I have used tend to have a lot of travel and a CA-chunk type motion when you click on them whereas I believe the MBP uses haptic feedback. But other than that the Lenovo has a glass trackpad that is nice to use.
I like the Lenovo Yoga C630 Chromebook so much that returned my Samsung Galaxy Book Ion windows laptop that I just purchased and bought the Lenovo Yoga C940 windows laptop.
The Pixelbook Go was originally on my list, but the processor is better in the Lenovo and obviously the screen is larger and better. I think if you want a 15 inch Chromebook, there isn't anything better than the Lenovo

I think it is good, but I haven't done any specific measurements. It is not my work device so I never see me using it for 7 to 8 hours straight

Good video. I had the FHD version without backlit keyboard. The fhd screen is horribly muddy, but much faster with touch.I now have the 4k version and the screen is great. The space key was terrible. I had to take off and add tape to the underside of the key to get it to work.. Does anyone know if you can change the wireless card as i would like bluetooth 5.0

The keys are the exact same size, the sides of the Chromebook are as big as the sides of the WIndows laptop AND the number pad together.
    And 2160 is 4k now?

    • @5after12
      @5after12  3 года назад

They are definitely not the exact same size. I literally had them both at the same time.
Lenovo refers to is as "4K resolution". The specs list it as UHD (3840 x 2160), a quick Google search tells me true 4k is 4096 by 2160, but UHD is considered 4K. There are a lot more technical details on encoding and aspect ratio, but I am not really sure what your argument is here?
I even pulled up Razer's site and their "GTX 4K Model" of the Razer Blade Stealth is listed as 3840 x 2160. As is there "4K UHD Model" of the Razer Blade Pro 17.
You really had me curious, so I searched for "best 4k laptop" and Laptop Mag has the Dell XPS 15 at the top of the list for 2019. So I looked at Dell's site and they list theirs as "4K Ultra HD+" and it is 3840 x 2400. However, that one is a 16:10 aspect ratio as opposed to the 16:9 aspect ratio for the Lenovo and Razer.

Does the black paint attract fingerprint oils

It is actually a very dark blue.
I have been using it almost every day and I don't really notice fingerprints on the device itself. However, it is visible on the track pad

    • @5after12
      @5after12  4 года назад +1

No, the one from Best Buy for some reason doesn't have Backlit keys and maybe they don't offer 4K
      I ordered it from Amazon
