WOW!! Super cool way to do the corners!! Bag is very nice!!
Thank you!
Love the result, bought the pattern and sewed along with the video. Thanks for walking me through it and your bags are gorgeous!!
You are so welcome!
I have a regular yellow (not neon) 20 year old Ommigrid ruler that hasn’t lost any of it’s markings, I use it all the time, it has nicks, and I’ve taken slivers off the edge with my rotary cutter, but the markings are all still perfect. Actually, I’ve got about 6 of their rulers and haven’t lost any of the markings on any of them, and I’ve been quilting for 20 years and I cut and sew pretty much daily. Also, My 20 year old O’Lipfa ruler is still doing great with retaining the markings, I hated the lip so I broke it off and sanded it. I scrub them, but haven’t ever used alcohol or other solvents on them. I hope that helps you find a ruler that holds up for you. Thanks for your videos, I enjoy watching you, and have learned a lot about cork from you!
Glad you enjoy my channel!
thanks for keeping it real!! It is part of why I follow you. I love everything you do!! I haven't worked with waxed canvas yet,,, but I love what you do with it...this is now on the Make list for Christmas!! Thank you for ALL that you do!!
Glad to have you here, thanks Kathy!
Sue S - I love your video tutorials especially using cork & waxed canvas. I have some hemp fabric which I was thinking of dyeing with natural dyes & then waxing & making your tote out of it. Your tutorials are so informative & makes me want to delve into more sustainable mediums. Thank you for your time in doing these helpful videos. Sue from Western Australia.
Glad to have you Sue! I bet a dyed hemp lining would be so great in this tote!
Congratulations I’m so excited for you
I’m new at sewing and I’ve learned so much from watching your videos. I love the wallet that I’ve made my sister. She loves it and her friends can’t believe that it was made by me. I’ve made a few clutches, change purse and more. I love your 12 days of Christmas videos. I’ve made a few things from those videos as well.. congratulations again, looking forward to watching a lot more of your videos and showing off what I make to my friends
Aww that makes my heart smile!
I just love this. I have learnt so much about both products. Wouk’s an old Bernini do the job.
Oh yeah!! I sew on a domestic too!
That is a seriously cool slip pocket!! Love the design! So glad I found your channel ❤️
Thank you!
Thank you! The eyeglass pouch is genius!
Glad you like it!
Love the eye glass case sewn in the side seam! I never thought of that.👍🏽
Thanks Wanda!
Great bag! I always learn something new. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you Arlene!
I want the sticker on your sewing machine!! LOL!!
Haha it’s so true! The gal who designed it is called Whoa Dude Designs!
Love everything about this bag! great tutorial. Addition of the sunglass case is crazy clever. Have this pattern and will be making this next. Thanks 😊
I hope you love it!
Thanks for the video, always great to watch you sewing. Love the sticker on your machine xxx
Thanks Angela!
You even make me want to make bags I would never use. This is a great bag but I would fill it with too much toot and then injure my shoulder carrying it! 🤪 . Love the way you are real and show wonky bits!!
Lol I always mess up! I have a very personal relationship with my seam ripper!
Pěkné video a moc pěkná pracovní taška. Jen tak dále.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks so much for another Taisteal tutorial. I debated *for a couple of months* what color cork fabrics to use, then what to use for the lining. And then what use for the pockets. Then whether to make the wide version or the tall version. How to add a zipper. I finally made one and ADORE it!!!!! Glad to see you needed to redo some stuff 'cause I sure did too. Gosh, I so LOVE those hidden pockets (yes, I made them on both sides).
Haha sometimes picking all the fabric and notions IS the hardest part! so happy you love the pattern!
@@SewGnar Also need to add a thank you for how great the lining fits in this bag. I'm going to incorporate that into future bags I make.
@@Karen626 Glad to have passed on a new skill!
Thanks again for a great video love your new saying on your machine😂 now I am hearing that song in my brain👍🏼👍🏼 gotta add this bag to my list
You are so welcome!
Outstanding video! Nice to see how The Professionals do it 😘😘
Thanks!
Another great video Nicole!! Love that you too make mistakes, thanks for sharing, I can’t sew right now, recovering from shoulder surgery, so I’m watching lots of RUclips!! Hope you had a great vending event!
I hope you heal up soon! ❤️
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents with us! I can’t wait to make this!
I hope you love it!
I have that 3" x 18" ruler too. And my numbers and lines are almost gone. I love the fact that you cut off the corners of some of your trims. Definitely going to use that, and the bunching of the corners. Thanks for all you do.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great video and explanations! Thanks for the great ideas, tips, and designs! Love this - I so want to try waxed canvas, but it's a bit pricey...
After buying cork waxed canvas almost seems cheap 😆
Love this bag Nicole, great tutorial thank you 🌺
You are so welcome!
This is a great pattern and a wonderful tutorial. Thank you so much.
No problem, glad you like the bag!
Beautiful. I’m going to make one tomorrow!! Thank you!!
Have fun!
Love this bag!!!
Thanks Roxanne!
Love your videos, I also have the Juki Tl2010q and it's definitely a bit picky with its thread. I looked to see what you used and noticed you used a very light weight thread that isn't bonded, how does it hold up on wallets and purses? I also embroider so I tend to use my 40wt embroidery thread for a lot of my projects but have yet to make a purse or wallet, it's on my to do list. I find that my Juki really likes the New Brother embroidery thread but hates a lot of others, so I was wondering if you've ever tried a heavier bonded thread and also how you do with the 16 size needle? My Juki wasn't a total fan of it and when I asked the tech guy where I purchased it about it he said they really don't recommend anything over a 14. I was disappointed because I actually got the machine to do the heavier stuff. It has a beautiful top stitch but still regret not getting the industrial walking foot machine as I already have a janome for the lighter weight fabrics which does great for dress making and things like that. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I always use a size 16 needle with no issue. Also Gutermaan Mara 120 thread. I find this combo to work great. As far as thread holding up, I’ve not seen a big issue with that. As long as people don’t yank on their purse straps, etc.
@@SewGnar Thank you 😊
Thank You! For another wonderful video and pattern. What colors for for the exterior top and bottom did you use…love those 2 colors together!
Hi Michelle, I used dark brown on top and black on bottom. If you buy from Fabric Funhouse use code SEWGNAR10 for 10% off!
This is such a great bag! It goes back to the top of my must sew stack.
Thank you KC!
Love the sticker on your machine. hehehehe I'm glad I'm not the only one who has ripping fests. UGH
I’m very close to my seam ripper! 😂
Any chance you would put a recessed zipper in that bag. Please
I don’t have any plans to add a recessed zipper as of now, but if I do it’ll be a video!
Could you please let me know the name of that ruler you used to place the rivets? I looked at the website ypu suggested but they now seem to onLy sell the templates for bags. I am in the Uk and it’s difficult to get some of these useful gadgets you guys get in america
I have just found one in the UK! Love your patterns by the way. I have lots of them!
Absolutely love this pattern! Do you have a suggested selling price range for this bag?
I sell my Tall’s for $140 and wide’s for $160 but it really all depends on your market!
I use 3pass blackout fabric, it's backed with silicone, so no interfacing, which also makes it crease free, waterproof and thermal.. I don't use anything else for lining now..
Interesting, I've never heard of that fabric before!
@@SewGnar it's usually used for blackout curtain lining, and it's pretty cheap and of course no interfacing is always a plus, that stuff can break the bank..not sure what it's called in the US, but someone told me they saw it in Joanne's
Creative Grids rulers seem to work well for me. I haven’t had an issue with the numbers wearing off.
I’ll check those out!
Great bag
Thank you!
What weight thread do you use in the bottom when using mara 120 as the top thread.? thank you
I always match thread, whatever’s on top is in my bobbin. I also use tex45 or Tex70 now, not so much Mara anymore!
Love this bag/shape and Love the waxed canvas interior! Question though- do you find it cost prohibitive to do the waxed canvas lining?
Not in the grand scheme of things. I did raise the price of this bag to be higher than a cotton lining but it's all relative in my pricing scheme.
Love your videos! Do you have a tutorial for the triskele wallet? I have the pattern but am a bit hesitant to start, I’m afraid I’ll mess up my cork lol
There is a link in the pattern pdf to the tutorial :)
@@xxcakeordeathxx oh thank you!
Thank you for sharing
You’re welcome!
Thank you for the tutorial! I love how real and straight forward you are. As a follow bag maker, I am in the market for a new machine and I noticed that you have a Juki. Is it a TL 2010Q? If so, do you like it? Would you recommend it for a first semi industrial? Thanks 😊
This machine is fine overall, however I’ve found that my Janome that I had prior to this juki performed at the same level for almost half the price. This machine is heavier due to it being all metal, but honestly I don’t know of any other difference. Id say if you’re in the market for a heavy duty machine, bump to the next level or save some money and go with a different brand.
@@SewGnar Thanks for the reply. This weekend I looked at a Janome HD9 and I fell in love with it, so I will be purchasing that machine instead of the Juki. I think in the future I might get myself a full industrial Juki!
@@SewGnar I'm not the OP, but I'm relieved to hear you say that - I just ordered the Janome HD3000 because I'm traveling without my Seiko STH-8BLD-3 industrial for the next 6 months.
What's the make of the double sided tape that you use? It seems it makes sewing much easier.
I'll be sewing your wide taisteal bag as soon as I decide on the cork fabric pattern. Great tutorial.
Glad you enjoyed it! I got my tape from Wawak!
@@SewGnar I looked at Wawak website, they have a lot of different tapes. Which one did you use? Thanks
Oh I’m not sure, I just get 1/4” double stick tape. Leather tape.
Thank you for this tutorial. Also can you please let me know where you got that sticker from? I need a few of them
I got the stickers from Whoa Dude Designs but I think she closed her shop down 😢
@@SewGnar thank you. Oh no. I really need a few of those. 😢
Where did you get the tags with sayings that you put inside?
MoreMeKnow.com
What is that zipper tool you used to help the install the pull? It looks like a huge help!
I got it from Bad Stitches Co on etsy! It's called a zipper jig.
Hi Nicole!
May I ask…I assume you used an 90/14 needle. What thread did you use and stitch length? Thank you!!
Hi Michelle, you can always find that info in the description box of my videos. I used a size 16, mara 120 thread, 4mm!
Hi...beautiful job!!! Where do you buy your cork?
Always from Fabric Funhouse - use code SEWGNAR10 for 10% off your order!
What kind of Juki are you using ?
Hi Patty, that information is always in the description of my videos. It’s a juki tl2010q.
Sorry you must be sick of my comments but where did you get that cool thing for putting the zipper pull on the tape? And what it is called for me to google it to find a uk supplier?
They’re called Zipper Jigs. I got mine from a seller on Etsy, bad stitches co
@@SewGnar thankyou, I’ve being trying to find one, it looked amazing, I reckon I spend as much getting the pull onto the tape as doing half the making!
How would you add a zipper?
Check out video 3 in my sewalong.
Nice
Thank you!
What type thread are you using? Needle size?
Hi Katherine, all of that info is in the description box!
Missouri star rulers ard ected.
🧲 BRILLIANT!!
Thank you!
