Thank you for teaching me your wonderful trick of sewing on the strap connectors. I must have had a shocked look on my face as the hubs told me to pick my jaw up off the floor. Kudos. That is shear genius. I used it tonight on a big bag I’m doing and it works. Keep up the great work and tutorials. Sew appreciated.
Excellent video. I have had this pattern forever, but haven't made. This one you did is so cute you have inspired me to try it. Thank you for a very well done video.
Love watching you sew, you explain everything really nice and very clear. And i like watching you sew it on your Juki, i have a similar janome. Thank you for all your great video’s!
oh Nicole, that looks great, i made this is a sparkly unicorn fabric for a friends daughter, never thought of making it in cork, but not for a 6yr old lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am very interested in making this bag. I appreciate watching you do the strap. I am making another pattern with cork and want to do a strap like yours.
Great Work.. that's quite an effort getting through all those thicknesses.. Love your use of Kirby grips (that's what we call them in UK) I use them as stitch markers in crochet...handy wee things ;-)
Love your videos. Like that you continue to sew the bags and not jump forward from step to step without actually seeing the creative process. Would you be able to leave long thread tails and tie off instead of back stitching on the purple tab area, that way you wouldn't see the thickness of the thread when it is backstitched? Just a thought. Your so particular about other parts of your sewing. Just a thought. :-)
Great tutorial. Love your colour choice. Thanks for giving me some inspiration.i think my daughter ,Whois about your age will love it. Yours sincerely Mary
Love all your videos. I was following along and making this bag today, but was a bit stumped at the snap tab. I suspect since you added a 1/4 inch to the flap height indent, you must have added it to the snap tab too, as my snap itself came barely below the edge of the flap. I ended up cutting the flap indent back to the original pattern height. Anyway, love all your clear instructions and you’ve made me a glue convert! Thanks!
What size is yours I printed my out it was so small so I printed it out at 110% the second time it’s a little bigger. But it still look smaller than yours. Love watching you make this
I know this is an old video, but it's my first time seeing it, and I would luv to make one like it. I would like to know approximately how much would a bag like this sell for?
Off-topic. I also have those stick on LED lights on my Brother 1500. you have some type of clip that holds them? mine just kind of dangle as they get to the bottom. what did you use to secure your lights in place?
What hole punch do you use? It looks easy to use....mine requires too much strength and the entire hole does not punch out. I paid over $20 for it (Amazon) and I'm not happy with it. I would like to know your suggestion. Thanks soooo much!!!!! GREAT VIDEOS!!!
You can always find that info in the description box of each video; and for this particular bag I used coats & Clark all purpose. But now I use guttermaan Mara 120 exclusively.
Love your tutorials they are awesome and you make it so easy. Thank you for all the great tips! I have a question where do you purchase your cork fabric from?
I enjoyed watching your video I am in the process of making one out of cork as well. Did you decrease the size of your flap as well because the pattern calls for stitching and turning?
Hi Calla, it’s been so long since I made that flap piece I really don’t remember but I would think I took it in about 1/4” all the way around, and then I did add additional length to the indents at the top like I mentioned in the video. Sorry for not mentioning that! I think even if you didn’t take any off the sides it would still be a-ok!
Hi Nicole, love your videos, so much great information, could you tell me what size snap tabs you are using. Also do you know the thickness of your cork xx
Did you cut pieces with your Scan and cut? Do you have any suggestions or input as to which cutting machine to buy? Scan and cut or Cricut? Thanks very much.
I just found you! I have been sewing bags for a while. You are so quick! Thanks for the well-done tutorial❤
You are so welcome!
It was very interresting to look to your video thank you
Nicole I love watching you and Lauren making these purses. I hold my breath when you birth your purses. Love your tutorials. Thank you for sharing.
And this birth was painful 😅 I meant to speed that part of the video up!
The video was awesome!!!! Loved the amendments!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved all of your HACKS! You make my life so much easier!!!
Aww yay! That’s what I’m here for!
Your method of creating the slide strap was easier than some instructions I've read. Thank you!
I think it’s always easier seeing than reading (at least for me)!

You are great! Love the bag!
Thank you so much!
What a smart idea using the hair pins to close the cork straps. I love your videos, you’re so creative and talented.
Aww thank you!
I love the purple cork and the geometric fabric together! Such a cute bag!
I love your sewing Nicole. I have learned so much watching you. Thank you from an Aussie fan xo

Glad you enjoyed it!
I bought the glue!!!! , hard ware, cork.. I am ready to make all kids of stuff.. I'm broke 😂 and happy 😃 excited to hang with Juki and bond aka sew 👍🏻
Haha yeah, sewing is an expensive sport!
Lady, you sure have amazing skills!! Thanks for a great vid and all the tips. Love the strap connector idea. Genius. I’ve subbed!
Forgot to say ... discovered you via Lauren at Sew Whatever.
Rad, welcome!! And thank you ☺️
oh Nicole, that looks great, i made this is a sparkly unicorn fabric for a friends daughter, never thought of making it in cork, but not for a 6yr old lol
Too expensive!!
Thank you so much everything is done so professionally and perfect. I had fun watching and I am so ready
Awesome!! So glad you enjoyed the video!
Beautiful!!!
Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant! So professional. I love it!!!
Thank you Joan!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am very interested in making this bag. I appreciate watching you do the strap. I am making another pattern with cork and want to do a strap like yours.
Excellent! Before I birth my cork bags I warm them a little, pop in dryer or hairdryer then easier to turn .
Whoa great idea!
Love this video. Cutest bag. Thanks.
Thank you!
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖👌Never made a bag before but you make me believe that I could and I have cork.......
YOU CAN DO IT!!!
I do love your tutorial.
Great Work.. that's quite an effort getting through all those thicknesses.. Love your use of Kirby grips (that's what we call them in UK) I use them as stitch markers in crochet...handy wee things ;-)
I love your version of this little bag!
Thank you!
forgot to say Nicole , love your new tattoo !!
Thank you!
I love your tutorials you are so helpful
Aww thank you!
Very nice , thanks for sharing
No problem!

That does get to me but I’ve never really done the tie off method, ill give that a go on the next one!
Great tutorial. Love your colour choice. Thanks for giving me some inspiration.i think my daughter ,Whois about your age will love it. Yours sincerely Mary
Aww I hope she loves it!
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Love how you do what you want. I do it too. Sometimes.
Love all your videos. I was following along and making this bag today, but was a bit stumped at the snap tab. Hi Cathy, I didn’t add any height to the flap, just increased the indent itself. I’m not sure why the flap didn’t meet up on yours..
thanks for the video
Fabulous video.thanks.
No problem!
Nice nice bag
Thanks!
What size is yours I printed my out it was so small so I printed it out at 110% the second time it’s a little bigger. But it still look smaller than yours. Love watching you make this
This was 100%. It’s a tiny bag!
Love it well done
Thank you!
is your lining also cork. It is beautiful and I am very grateful to your tutorials, such good suggestions
No, interfaced cotton for my lining. Thank you!
I love
Did you interface your cork with anything or than the interfacing you put on snap on the front?
Besides the cotton lining, no other interfacing than the snap.
I know this is an old video, but it's my first time seeing it, and I would luv to make one like it. I would like to know approximately how much would a bag like this sell for?
I sell the all cork ones for $100!
Off-topic. I also have those stick on LED lights on my Brother 1500. you have some type of clip that holds them? mine just kind of dangle as they get to the bottom. what did you use to secure your lights in place?
Mine came with little sticky clips
Thank you for your reply. How do I know if the corm is good quality - is there anything I need to look for? I’m in the UK btw. X
Buy from a reputable source! Are you in my sewing group on Facebook? I have lots of makers in the UK and they can tell you where to buy!!
What hole punch do you use? It looks easy to use....mine requires too much strength and the entire hole does not punch out. I paid over $20 for it (Amazon) and I'm not happy with it. I would like to know your suggestion. Thanks soooo much!!!!! GREAT VIDEOS!!!
It’s a simple radial hole punch, Ive had it so long I don’t even know where I got it but I’m sure amazon has them!
Excellent job. What type of thread did you use?
You can always find that info in the description box of each video; and for this particular bag I used coats & Clark all purpose. But now I use guttermaan Mara 120 exclusively.
How does cork hold up? It seems like a cool material to work with.
It holds up surprisingly well! I have some photos on my website FAQs of old wallets if you wanna check those out
Have a question, I don't have the Fabri-Tac glue but have Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue would that work just as well? Thanks
I’m not sure how quickly it’ll set up, that’s why I use the beacon. It dries SO fast!
Love your tutorials they are awesome and you make it so easy. Thank you for all the great tips! I have a question where do you purchase your cork fabric from?
I always buy from Fabric Funhouse! Use code SEWGNAR10 for 10% off your first order!
@@SewGnar thank you!
This might be stupid question but can you use fabric tac instead of fabric fusion on the edges...just to eliminate purchasing multiple glues?
I’ve never tried it, the fabric fusion dries much slower and it’s thinner so it’s easier to move around. Give it a try with fabri-tac and see!
@@SewGnar thanks for the super fast reply :), I will.
@SewGnar what interfacing was used for the snap flap
Probably 808!
Hi Nicole, love your videos, so much great information, could you tell me what size snap tabs you are using. Also do you know the thickness of your cork xx
I use 10mm snaps. And no, I’m not sure what the thickness is, it’s fabric funhouse cork so maybe they know!
When I made cork tabs with cork, the tabs split after a few days of using. Would decovil on the back help or double it up?
I’m not sure. What kind of cork did you have/where’d you get it? Were the tabs folded or raw edge?
Super Bonita trabajas súper gracias por compartir
muchas gracias, ¡me alegro de que hayas disfrutado del video!
You are super😍
Thank you!
Where did you get the cool lining fabric ?
That’s an Allison glass print!
I love your work. The coats and Clark thread, is it cotton or polyester and is it 40wt or 50wt. II have the same machine.. Thank you.
It’s standard all purpose thread, it doesn’t actually list the type and weight on it...
Do you use a machine like the circuit or silhouette to cut the pattern pieces?
Nope, cut these with a rotary cutter!
@@SewGnar thanks for the reply. Your cuts are so perfect!
I’m very particular about my edges matching!
Did you use fleese when making this bag?
Nope! If I use any interfacing it's only on the lining.
Would/have you used quilt batting on the flap instead of 2 layers of interfacing? Just curious if it would work.
On the snap tab? No, too thick. I wanted structure and durability rather than loft.
Did you resize this pattern? Great tutorial!
I didn’t!
Did you cut pieces with your Scan and cut? Do you have any suggestions or input as to which cutting machine to buy? Scan and cut or Cricut? Thanks very much.
I cut this all with a rotary cutter and mat, not scan and cut machine. I've only used the scan N cut so I can't speak to the cricut to compare it to.
Thanks very much for the info.
What size thread do you use when sewing any cork pattern? Thank you for another great video!
I tend to go for 40 weight but this was standard coats and Clark all purpose thread and I’m unsure of the weight.
@@SewGnar Thank you. I'm tempted to try these for gkids.
Where can I buy these rivets? and what size pls
Hi there, I get mine from different Etsy sellers and I usually use 7mm x 6mm!
Since you used all cork, can I use all vinyl for the exterior?
Absolutely! I have a five part sewalong coming out next week of this bag as well! (Or it’s available on my Patreon page now!)
That’s awesome!!! I will start making 2 all vinyl Dollie mini crossbodys now. Can’t wait to watch the sewalongs next week!!!
If I’m making a lining slip Pocket, what size would it be?
@@marielitapineda2835 I'm not sure since I dont make them. I recommend measuring the inside and seeing what size you like.
Ok thanks. I measured last night and I think I found the size of slip pocket I want to use.
I thought the purple was vynil?
Nope, all cork!
👍👍
What kind of interfacing did you use?!
This is 808!
You used soooo much glue lol! I find that sewing them using wonder clips is as good! :)
The glue makes sure nothing shifts, you’ll never stop me from using so much! 😂
@@SewGnar hahaha
I bought it from Amazon and it was raw edge. Perhaps it was poor quality. 🥴
I suggest trying a better quality, cork is amazing for so many projects.
Indentions? You mean indentations? Lol
I don’t know what I mean usually - I just talk and most of the time it’s incorrect verbiage 😂 I never claimed to be a pro!
