You've got some weird data there Tyre Reviews. For me at my local track I use whatever can put down the power or comes in the right sizes. Bridgestone Rs3: 1:48.09 Bridgestone Re71: 1:48.01 Yokohama ad08r: 1:47.98 Hancook RS4: 1:47.45 Khumo V70: 1:47:44 Nankang AR1: 1:47.41 Michelin Cup2: 1:47.39 Toyo R888r: 1:47.13 Toyo R888: 1:46.39 Nitto Nt01: 1:46.88 Bridgestone RE71RS: 1:43.86 Hancook Z221: 1:43.02 Yokohama a050: 1:42.71 Yokohama a052: 1:42.58 Each of these tires lasted me several track days and did 100's of laps each. The re71Rs, and z221 barely made it through a second track day until grip dropped off at the end of the day, the rest kept going for 4-5 track days as well as street driving in between. A052 is my fastest tire even against Z221 and Re71RS I have data for each, timestamps and obviously which tire i was on.
@@tyrereviews SOME flex in a race or rally car body can be useful. I have seen RWD rally cars where the front of the cage was welded to rhe A-posts but the rear was bolted(!) to the C-posts. On dry tarmac those bolts were fixed for max grip all the time. On wet or dirt roads the bolts were removed to allow the body to flex a bit. This gave a bit smoother transition between grip and slip
I’ve been watching your videos to help me pick out tires for my E24, so cool to see you’ve had one too! Went with the Direzza Z3s last year, still need to get out on track before having a really good opinion. But for the spirited backroad driving I’ve done so far, really great tire. Interested in those BFGs and Falkens now...
Thanks so much for this! I do lots of Autocross events(200tw being the fastest tire allowed in Street classes), and quite a few track days, so this is super useful. Top job on this.

This bloke is a legend, some may argue he has worked his way up to a dream job, but I'd suggest "worked" is the operative word. Where I live in Shytsville Straya, the Hankoooooks are by far the best cost option, was not expecting them to perform as well as they did, especially when the wear looked to be so low. "Hold it flat Mat, Give it a revin Kevin, You won't bend it, If you don't send it" (ect.) Remember folks, above all, have fun.
Strong showing from the Hankook, I can confirm they wear like iron and are super consistent throughout a track session. They're surprisingly good in the wet too for a 200TW tyre
Me: I did 13 track days, 50 heat cycles and highway driving 1500 miles on the Falken 660. Great tire all around. Jonathan: "maybe 4 more laps before you need to be concerned about wear" Best tire reviews on the web.
I appreciate your extreme thoroughness and expertise. But even more than that, I appreciate the sacrifice you have made of spending 7 hours on a track in a race-prepped E36.
Super helpful test. It's interesting to see how the 200tw category has evolved. I've spent a lot of time running enduros with this tire category, but that was years ago. What a glorious m3!!!
On my 911 I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4S as a daily and Yokohama Advan A052 on the track. Very very happy with both after testing countless tire brands.
Good job, you hit the nail on the head. I've driven all these ties and my top 3 are the Rival then RS4 and last the Falken. If you want to be fast and are a good driver, the Rival for sure. If you have mild experience the RS4 is the best tire because it telegraphs everything, easy to manage, good progressivity, good recovery pass Mu. The Falken just does everything okay, is like an all season track tire, okay in dry, wet, life time, drop off, and communicate pretty well. Also is okay with abusive drivers. [PS]: next time you're in my hometown, stop by the BMW Performance Center and say hello!
OMG - FANTASTIC REVIEW! I will say, the review/comments about the Falken 660 are exactly what I have found. I have run those on a mildly track prepped 2012 MINI Cooper S and a basically bone stock 2019 JCW, for reference for drivers of FWD cars. More 2 cents... While I have not driven the Dunlop ZIII, I have driven ZII and the review of the ZIII pretty much matches my experience with the ZIIs. I have talked with people who do endurance racing and the A052 has been identified as the fastest in comparison to the Falken 660 and the 615. So, a bit if a difference in results from different people, different cars and different tracks. That said, I have seen issues with the A052 with chunking on a MINI GP3, which I would consider an extension of the wear seen here. Just something to think about. I had heard that the RE71R ‘Stones were being discontinued, but I thought I had heard they were being replaced, not that there was going to be no replacement. Another thing to watch... Again - fantastic review and exactly what a lot of people I know will be looking for.
@@tyrereviews That is too bad, given how good they are. I would bet there are a lot of people who will be disappointed with the decision to not do a replacement. Oh, BTW - In the dry I have run “directional” tires backwards and found them no different from the “correct” direction. I have not heard any issues with doing this in the dry; in the wet, no.
One of your regular comments is along the lines of not wanting to bore people with extra data and footage. Personally I'd love more! I appreciate not everyone geeks out on data but I'm sure loads do! Great video though, and like everyone else I think your content is getting better and better!
Love the car! I took your advise and put 225/45R17 Goodyear Asymmetric 5 on my E36 325i convertible and it feels amazing! Keep it coming. From Malaysia
I've got the Falkens on my Miata and the BFGs on the Camaro. My experience with the Falkens is limited, but I'm happy so far. With the BFGs though, in 305s square they provide amazing grip, and they seem to really like heat and more slip angle. They're fastest just a little beyond what would typically be considered the limit of grip. Unfortunately that doesn't really match my driving style, at least not with the Camaro. Being the 2.0T, it's not heavy enough to get the heat. At autox they're only getting into acceptable after 3 runs. I think they'd be a really good match for my old Focus ST. That car ate front tires and was always overheating the RE71R
I got the BFGs on my Camaro too. 315 fronts 335 rears. I see most guys doing autocross now though using the Falcon 660s. Do they not need as much heat in them orr?
Thx for the test. I really love all your tests. For the European or especially german market, I think you cant get most of the tested tires, unfortunately. What I'm missing are tires like Nankang NS2R, Federal 595RSR, and Yoko AD08R. In the future, I'm hoping for a test with small track-oriented tires. I know a lot of guys I'm racing (german autocross/slalom) with who are using 195/50R15 or 205/50R15. And most interesting tires for me in this categories would be Yokohama AD08R, AD08RS (the difference between the ancestor and current tire is really interesting because I think the old one was a good bit better), A048, A052, Nankang NS2R, AR1, Toyo R888R, Federal 595RSR, and Dunlop Direzza 03G.
@@tyrereviews there should always be a miata somewhere 😅 But 15inch would really be awesome because today the most tests are always 18 and up. And a lot of these tires you can't find in 15 and if you can I imagine they probably handle totally different than their big brothers
@@tyrereviews I would be delighted to lend you my 1993 Honda Civic with K24 swap endurance car running 15" tires for you to test. I'm currently running 245/40/15F and 225/45/15R Hankook RS4 so I'm very interested in the 15" tire category.
Most popular in US... In Europe we are using : Federal 595rs-r(and -pro and -rr), Toyo Proxes r888(and r), r1r, Yokohama a050, a052(the only one in this test), ad08r, Nankang NS-2r, AR-1, Zeknova SuperSport RS, Zestino, Accelera 651 sport...Etc
Great information and testing! For trackdays I have tried AD08, RE71R, Hankook RS-3 and RS-4, and RT660. I just loved the RS-3 and RS-4 for the durability. I agree the RT660 (as well as RE71R) had immense grip but as a person going to trackdays for fun and not trying to break lap records, Hankooks will be my definite choice. RE71R and RT660 lasted about half as much trackdays as the Hankooks did.
@@South4153 many people compete with 595 pros who are on a budget. However it is not a top tier contender. It should be on the list but it likely would have been one of the slowest tires. But the price still makes it worth for many people
First and foremost: great work Agree with the comments that request the Nankang as that is the weapon of choice for many vehicles- especially E36s on the Nürburgring. And the Michelin Cup2 and the PS4S as benchmark from both sides would be excellent.
I used the Hankook Rs4 s since they came out to the market i knew they were slower compared to top tires but from what i can say they hold up so well throughout the heat cycles i was hoping to see it in the extra 8 lap session, but amazing work! Thank you so much for providing this review and data along with it.
Amazing review, incredible the amount of research, testing and calculation you put into these tests. Thanks for doing these and keep up the good work! I think my next set of tires is definitely going to have to be the Falkens since they are priced so well.
I look forward to you comparing the continental extremecontact force to these tires, especially against the hankook rs4. Both tires seem to be aimed for endurance/longer races
So awesome. This backs up my experience as well. I currently run the Rival S 1.5 on my Mustang that I mostly use for autocross and HPDE events. The RE71-R was a great tire as well, but as the man said, no longer available. The BFG is super fast, especially with a little heat in them. They also hold up remarkably well to a long track session on a hot day, which was not the case with the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs...they would overheat and get greasy after 15 minutes(heavy car doesn't help). With the BFG's you do have to be careful in the cold, as with most 200TW tires, but they seem to be a little sketchier than most in the cold/wet. Seems like most of the Nationals level Autocross competitors have shunned the Rival in favor of the Yoko and RT660, but I still think the Rival is a strong option, and this helps back that up.
@@tyrereviews In the autocross world, people tend to take the Nationals competition results as gospel. While there have been some trends in the past that have been pretty obvious(like the 71R being the best all around tire in this category when it was launched), there are a lot of other variables(Driver/Conditions etc). I think part of it was the sponsership/event support that Bridgestone gave to the community as a whole. Which is why its so weird they are not bringing the 71RS to the US. The HPDE(Trackday/lapping) community is less cohesive, since there is not a solid data set and way more variables to support the claims of which tire is best.
@@tyrereviews I think Autocross is a bit different due to the length of most of the courses(versus the test facility you ran at), and the super quick transitions(fast slaloms etc). The Yoko seems to be good for that(from what I've previously read...I have not tried it myself). The BFG works great for me. I loved that you mentioned how quick the tires came up to temperature and how the ran when hot, as this is great data. Since I use my car for both autocross and road course stuff, this video is perfect for my use case scenario.
@@stefndogg Thanks for taking the time to write that, super interesting, the autocross world is new to me but as I'm doing more stuff in the US that's very useful for me :)
@@tyrereviews No worries, thanks for the great, free content. The autocross world is pretty unique. Definitely one of the more tire-nerd focused genres of the car world. I never thought I would get into it, as I did trackdays first, but really grew to love it, as it is super competitive (unlike open lapping hpde events), and is much easier on the car with expendables/less risk of wrecking. Its very low cost versus a track day, but with much less seat time of course(like $30usd versus $300 for a trackday). It might be fun to attend one if your stateside.
What kind of camber did the M3 have? What width wheel? Those are 2 factors that play a huge roll in how Yoks act. Also, we’ve found that the V730 takes a lot of heat to get rid of it’s mold release and get a first heat cycle. After that, it gets much faster. You can also get away with much lower pressures. Anyway...great vid and keep it up!!
@@tyrereviews I experienced some massive oversteer on my GTi when I took a new set of sticker v730 out to autocross having only scrubbed and heat cycled the front tires. Have calmed down substantially since. purely anecdotal, but I concur
Finally! You came through. Just for me. You're the best. I already have the Falkens, nice to know they're that good especially considering they're one of the cheapest.
RT660''s blistered after one long and hot track day. I can't adjust camber so that had some to do with it. I guess I'll go back to the RT615K+ since lap times don't really matter. I'll lose a second (or more) a lap, but the tires will last.
I've done autocross on two sets of BFG's and now a set of Falken 660's. Fresh tires always help, but I found the BFG's to be good at holding up in hot conditions with multiple drivers. The Falken tires are faster in my opinion and have let me have my best finish ever. It felt like you had to push the BFG's harder to get their fastest time vs. a bit less sliding on the 660's.
Wish the SuperCar 3 was available in this size to see how it stacked up with the rest of the bunch! With all these hit videos i'm starting to wonder how long till Tyre Reviews has it's own test compound? :)
@@tsslaporte rival will be faster for sure. I went from RE71R to SC3 and the RE is def a level above in grip and steering. SC3 feels like an OE tire because it is. It's more comfortable, much quieter, etc. The Rival and RE fight for podiums so I think it's safe to assume the Rival is faster.
@@jerryalbritton725 I agree :D but the SC3s love to keep going so it would be interesting to see them compared directly vs just one lap outright speed.
Exactly the review I needed! I autocross a white e36 M3 Coupe. I had been running the BF Goodrich G Force 1.5s and really enjoyed them. This year I have switched to the Falken RT660 and like them even more! The Falken feels like it holds up better to heat compared to the BF Goodrich, especially on a heavy, high power car like the e36 on the Autocross circuit.
@@tyrereviews Among the group I autocross with, which drive a lot of S2000s and MX5s the M3 is chunky. However it is wonderfully narrow being 1 inch wider than an NA Miata and 1 inch narrower than an ND Miata. The straight line torque of the M3 along with balanced chassis really allows it to shine in a semi open track. I won't claim it's the best car ever, but gosh I love the incredible satisfaction it provides. Mine just has the normal naturally aspirated tuning parts.
Great job as usual. We are racing in a 24 hour race later this year and have tested a few tires. Our favorite so far is the Hankook RS4. Great grip and Hankook thinks we can run 12 hours on one set of tires. Price is also pretty good.
Great, concise review. I would love to see an update, to include at least the Continental ExtremeContact Force, as well as any other updated or new 200TW track tires.
Epic place 😱 Epic car 😱 Interesting data 🤓 Don’t forget we’re here for more than the data though! I’d love to see a couple of you go-pro fast laps, to get a feel for a lap and the speed 😀
As always Jonathan you are producing the best tyre reviews on the internet. I am curious if you know the hot tire pressures and temperatures after the two 8 lap sessions. I assume starting pressures cold were the same. My track experience is with the Goodyear SuperCar 3 and the Falken 660. The Falkens perform exactly as you describe. Reliable lap after lap with huge grip during braking.. In 90 degree weather they tend to pick up every loose piece of track rubber. The Goodyear, to me is overall a better tire. Thanks again. James
We endurance race on 200 TW tires, and have tested Hankook RS4s, Cooper RS3-Rs and Kumho V730s. Did you know the Cooper RS3-RS is a wet weather tire? The RS3-R is its dry equivalent. In a same-day same-driver test we found a warm V730 to produce exactly the same grip as a RS3-R, but is more temperature sensitive. The V730s are fastest on their out lap, faster than the Coopers, but seem to plateau instead of steadily drop off. The Coopers however are less sensitive to over-driving, and are our preferred endurance tire. I am impressed with V730 wear however; it may be better than the Cooper. I really dislike the steering feel of the RS3-R and have trouble feeling the limit of the front tires. My co-driver loves them and doesn't have this problem. Both seem to produce ~2% more grip than an RS4. It's weird you got so much wear out of RS4s. Endurance cars typically never wear these out. They end up getting discarded after they turn into rocks. Pretty much every 200 TW (ChampCar, WRL) endurance team in the U.S. has this same experience with them. I wonder if the Michelin proving ground surface is playing a role here. It's also weird you found the Rival 1.5 S so fast. I love those tires and can't wait to test them on my endurance car, but no one else gets that kind of advantage from them. Again I wonder if your surface is affecting the results.
Please test the Nankang CR-1 (all the new sizes will be labeled the CR-S until 2022 when all the sizes will have the CR-S moniker). It too is asymmetrical, so it can be swapped side to side. While you are at it, throw in the Continental Extreme Force because it was designed to fight along the Hankook RS4. I'm thinking the CR-1 might just give the Rival a run for its money.
Great content and so much valuable work done for us consumers/drivers. I would love to see time comparison with excellent UHP tyre like P4S or Potenza Sport. Thanks again for such high quality content.
this was great! I didn't realize the RS-4 was fast, as the wear is really long on these. The BFG better than the Falken that's a wow too. You should have said more about that E36 tho!
Another scientific-grade content from the best tyre channel out there. Still thrilled for the knowledge each time you produce a video ! Huge thanks ;) PS: A EU version would be the ultimate test for my use ^^ (NS-2R, 595 RR, AR-1...)
Found the A052 video I was looking for, really helpful video. Confirmed what I’ve been hearing about peaky first lap then wearing pretty fast. Do you think you could please do a 0-100 acceleration video
In cars like this dry tractoin is almost meaningless, but you can look at braking which is like reverse traction. But I don't think I did that for this test either :D
Very thorough testing which is great to see. Have to echo one of the other comments here. We need a UK trackday tyre option test on a typical UK trackday car, like those Clio cups from the 2000 era. Some of the questions would be if you were a beginner (or only go occasionally) what should you take (perhaps a more normal road tyre like a PS4S or an even more normal UHP tyre that you might have on your car that you commute with) and then if you're more seasoned then perhaps something more aggressive and what differences you start to notice over the 'beginner' options 👍 I for one took my terrible Bridgestone runflats the first time I went on track, helped me wear through them so I could buy a better option quicker 😂. But they were totally fine for a total beginner like myself!
Fantastic video and as an Engineer truly appreciate the importance to proper data collection! Bravo on a great review I would love to see the new Conti and the Nankang CR1 mixed in with these if that would be ever possible.
I appreciate all the data and attention to detail. The Falken Azenis RT660 is next on the list for the M2C. The last set of RE71Rs lasted three track days :-( They were placed with a set of PSC2s, but man they're so expensive. Let's hope they last more than three days. Not sure why we still can't get the new RE71RS here in the US.
Excellent review! If there was just a few information that's missing, it'd be what the controlled tire pressures are and the alignment of the car. The last bit is important as I've heard you need at least -2.5 degrees of camber for the A052s to make them work properly. I'm at -3.0 degrees with A052s running 35psi HOT and that seems to work great for me. Which what I found out about the A052s is they LOVE lower tire pressures, thus why they need a bit of camber. Keep up the great work sir! Definitely need to try me a set of Rivals after seeing this as I've heard it has great heat management. Would work great for a FWD car.
Very good! I love how you saved the absolute best thing for very last…. Non directional! Being able to swap them from side to side is huge! Would love to know your thoughts on the RT615 vs these. It’s my favorite to date, for it’s only .5 seconds slower then absolute best I could get on the RT660, however last more then twice as long!!
We've compiled data similar to this in the Miata community and oddly enough, the vehicle these tires are on play a huge role in how they perform. Weight of car, power / speed of car, suspension geometry & setup, which wheels are powering the car, brake bias, downforce, ect.
While hard to get common sizes, it would be great to see top contenders from different tests and TW’sxcompared. The top 3 here vs Cup 2r and Supercar 3, or even the regular Cup 2’s. Throwing in a Nankang AR1 would be nice too as we’re yet to see it make your tests.
Lovely review, I drive sprint and endurance races on Zandvoort circuit on a Toyo R888R (225/45R16) TW 100, very happy about them, they last a long time (10 hour +) and keep very consistent no matter what you throw at them. Heaps better than what I drove before (Interstate DNRT racing, same size, TW 120). With the Toyo i can almost get to the end of the tire before performance start dropping off, they don't seem to care to much about heat and pressure. The only downside is that the sidewall isn't as stiff as some of the other tires I've driven, so you start your stint with a higher pressure than usual, but they stabilize quite quick and then it's all good. Very curious about the BF Goodrich tire from the review, but uinfortunately it isn't available in my country.
Thanks for all your reviews. I picked up a set of the Falken's because the RE71R is no longer made. Looks very close. Slightly quieter than the RE71R. The grip is great.
Legend! Been waiting for this one for awhile! Thank you! Great data. It’s a shame you don’t have the RE71RS, as here in Australia. Would you agree the top 3 are faster than the Cup 2?
@@tyrereviews interested to see your data! My personal experience was the A052 was faster than the Cup 2, with similar feedback from the time attack groups.
Definitely appreciate how well you can articulate the characteristics of tires! If you do a 200tw comparison again set up an Autocross course. Perhaps use the permanent one at the Tire Rack test site. As these tires are used in Autocross it’s valuable info for that market. Interestingly enough the Rival S 1.5 is slower than the Yokos and Falkens generally in autocross.
I’d love to see the Nankang CR-1 tested against the A052, RT660, and Rival S 1.5. One observation I have is that you said the track was an aggressive, high grip, surface. That really does play well with the Rival. But on lower grip surfaces the Rival does seem to lose some time.
Guys, the Tire Reviews site desperately needs some real world reviews of these sorts of tires! If you have any experience please head over to www.tire-reviews.com and leave a review, it would be really appreciated and it would help millions of people!🥰

Jonathan: "maybe 4 more laps before you need to be concerned about wear"

Need a UK or EU version of this video!
There 100% will be soon :)
How many of these are sold in Uk/EU? The only one I've seen for my measure (ass 15 inch) in EU is the A052
@@tyrereviews Nice, because most of these we cannot find here. Would be perfect to have an EU version
The Falken was the surprise of the test for me, especially given the price point, fast and consistent. Next time I'll try and include wet.
Official comment from Bridgestone is no replacement 🥲
@@tyrereviews That is too bad, given how good they are. I would bet there are a lot of people who will be disappointed with the decision to not do a replacement.
Oh, BTW - In the dry I have run “directional” tires backwards and found them no different from the “correct” direction. I have not heard any issues with doing this in the dry; in the wet, no.
@@Eddie07S Something to test for another video :)
I appreciate all the work that goes into these testings! All of them! Gratitude to the fullest!
Thank you! 😁
Finally!!! Glad you were able to get a hold of all these for a test

Personally I'd love more! I appreciate not everyone geeks out on data but I'm sure loads do!
Great video though, and like everyone else I think your content is getting better and better!

I choose these based on this guys recommendation as well haha
By far the best track tire review period
Thanak you :)
Best tire reviews on the internet, not just youtube.
305 square!! That's meaty!
And I thought 17" was small :) Getting a test vehicle for the 15" sizes is tricky, I wonder if I can do something with Lotus
@@tyrereviews there should always be a miata somewhere 😅
But 15inch would really be awesome because today the most tests are always 18 and up.
@@David-nb2bc That sounds like a sweet motor! How are you finding the Hankooks?
Falken going to the top rankings in every test. It's very enjoyable a non mainstream brand to be so good and reasonably priced.
They're consistently great at the moment
Most popular in US... In Europe we are using : Federal 595rs-r(and -pro and -rr), Toyo Proxes r888(and r), r1r, Yokohama a050, a052(the only one in this test), ad08r, Nankang NS-2r, AR-1, Zeknova SuperSport RS, Zestino, Accelera 651 sport...Etc
FINALLY A YOKOHAMA TYRE!
Would be keen to see the street/track AD08R in a test. LOVE the testing detail!!
You made it with the Yokohamas! Thank you very much!
Looking forward with the road focused UHPs. Cheers!
Sounds like you have a good life :)
Can’t wait for the addition of the new extreme contact FORCE continental / Hoosier 200TW collab. Great review thank you.
I have a first test of that soon
@@tyrereviews make sure you add the Nankang CR-1
It's always a happy day when I see Jon doing some new tire review video and yes, that exhaust does sound good.
:D
Great review!! I think that Falken tyres are vastly underrated. The road tyres are classed as mid range, but really do have a premium feel.
Totally agree!
Interested in seeing how the new 200tw Contis stack up
Awesome review. I've been running star specs on my e36 m3 since the z1. May have to give those Yokohamas a try.
Thanks Jonathan!! This was so needed. Bridgestone RE-71RS would be interesting to see. Shame they didn't give you a set for this comparison review
I would of loved to see the Federal 595RS-Pro included to see how it fares. For a budget tire I am super happy with it as an autoX tire.
this is no comparison at all performance wise. federal is not a real semi, just a very sporty roadtire
@@South4153 many people compete with 595 pros who are on a budget. However it is not a top tier contender. It should be on the list but it likely would have been one of the slowest tires. But the price still makes it worth for many people
thanks for this video. 200 is the best kind of tires for the enthusiast and it's good to see the comparison
Thanks Jonathon for your reviews. I base my tyre purchases 100% on your reviews.
Keep up the great work. I wish you all the success.
Thank you for the kind words!
First and foremost: great work
Agree with the comments that request the Nankang as that is the weapon of choice for many vehicles- especially E36s on the Nürburgring.
And the Michelin Cup2 and the PS4S as benchmark from both sides would be excellent.
thank you :)
They were mega! Lmk how you find them
Fantasitc job Johnatan - you make the most comprehensive and accurate tests in the business.
Thank you sir :)
You should do cheap tire testing like Federal 595 RS pro, Kenda kr20a, and Nankang NS2r
Finally a test of Yokohama tires!
I wonder why everyone moved away from the BFG to slower tyres. I get the Falken a little, but the Yoko was pretty far off the pace!
Interesting re Kumho! I'll double check the setup of the car, I believe it was fairly stock Lightweight setup
Mega for the price
Interesting information, thanks for sharing!
Finally! Been waiting for 200 track tire test! Thank you
I hope you enjoyed!
Wish the SuperCar 3 was available in this size to see how it stacked up with the rest of the bunch! With all these hit videos i'm starting to wonder how long till Tyre Reviews has it's own test compound? :)
The dream! It would be the least comfortable tire ever, but have the best steering!
@@tyrereviews Alternatively you could do another Supercar3 Video and compare it against the Rivals as both come in 305/30-19
@@tsslaporte rival will be faster for sure.
Glad you're enjoying them, though I'm not sure I would call the e36 heavy or high powered, unless yours is boosted :D
Great test! You’re so thorough with data and getting everything right!
This is really excellent - thanks so much! Would love to see the “100” tread wear rating as well
Came here to say this
Falken rt660 are hard to beat for the price. Bought them when they first came out, tested them and couldn't believe how good they are.
Agreed!
Been waiting to see a review for the continental extreme contact force. Hopefully you can do one soon.
I have a first test of them in a few weeks
Great review 👍 . Thank you for taking extra time to calculate for different track temperatures . Very impresive breakdown and right on point .
Thank you very much!
Great job as usual. We are racing in a 24 hour race later this year and have tested a few tires. Our favorite so far is the Hankook RS4. Great grip and Hankook thinks we can run 12 hours on one set of tires. Price is also pretty good.
It's quite the endurance tyre. Have you tested the new conti yet?
@@tyrereviews No but after watching your video we are very tempted. Want to join us?

Epic place 😱
Epic car 😱
Interesting data 🤓
Don’t forget we’re here for more than the data though!
James
I've looked back through my data and I don't have a record at the end of runs, sorry
Finally the track tyre review, very good review here
Thank you!
The only tyre tester I trust. Great video!
That will definitely be in the next test!
This is the best video on the internet. Thank you!
Great content and so much valuable work done for us consumers/drivers. I would love to see time comparison with excellent UHP tyre like P4S or Potenza Sport. Thanks again for such high quality content.
Something for next time!
nice video I'm on my second set of falken rt660s for autocross and they have been fantastic
this was great! I didn't realize the RS-4 was fast, as the wear is really long on these. The BFG better than the Falken that's a wow too. You should have said more about that E36 tho!
Thank you well done. Your findings also coincide what we have been seeing during autocrossing.
Awesome, I love it when data matches 😁
Another scientific-grade content from the best tyre channel out there.
Still thrilled for the knowledge each time you produce a video !
Huge thanks ;)
PS: A EU version would be the ultimate test for my use ^^ (NS-2R, 595 RR, AR-1...)
Some of the questions would be if you were a beginner (or only go occasionally) what should you take (perhaps a more normal road tyre like a PS4S or an even more normal UHP tyre that you might have on your car that you commute with) and then if you're more seasoned then perhaps something more aggressive and what differences you start to notice over the 'beginner' options 👍
I for one took my terrible Bridgestone runflats the first time I went on track, helped me wear through them so I could buy a better option quicker 😂. But they were totally fine for a total beginner like myself!
Great test, fun to watch
Fantastic video and as an Engineer truly appreciate the importance to proper data collection! Bravo on a great review
I would love to see the new Conti and the Nankang CR1 mixed in with these if that would be ever possible.
That will be one for next year :)
A050 vs cup 2r vs some other 60tw to 80tw tires would love to see these!

I appreciate all the data and attention to detail. The Falken Azenis RT660 is next on the list for the M2C. The last set of RE71Rs lasted three track days :-( They were placed with a set of PSC2s, but man they're so expensive. Let's hope they last more than three days. Not sure why we still can't get the new RE71RS here in the US.
you may already know, but the RE71RS is now available in North America!
Awesome vid, am rocking direzza z3 at the moment but know where to go next. Thanks for the hard work! Totally subscribed now
This was exactly what I was looking for! Great reviews as always!
love it. very useful videos, my car might not be ready for tires like this but I love the test anyway
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your videos! I think it would be interesting to test fuel economy tires for handling, braking, and fuel economy.
I think Michelin's E36 LTW has probably lead the happiest life of any street M3 in the world.
Amen
Thanks!
We've compiled data similar to this in the Miata community and oddly enough, the vehicle these tires are on play a huge role in how they perform. Weight of car, power / speed of car, suspension geometry & setup, which wheels are powering the car, brake bias, downforce, ect.
Love the E36! Eurospec E36 M3 is my dream car

Love the monumental effort you put into preserving accurate and reliable results.
I always go for Falken, just love them.
Amazing effort - well done.
If you do track tyres again it would be really interesting to add in a UUHP road tyre for comparison.
You'll find the next video interesting :)
Thanks for all your reviews. I picked up a set of the Falken's because the RE71R is no longer made. Looks very close. Slightly quieter than the RE71R. The grip is great.

I wonder if that's down to heat
@@tyrereviews tires are used quite differently in autocross than on a road course. Check out recent 200tw tests in Grassroots Motorsports
I’d love to see the Nankang CR-1 tested against the A052, RT660, and Rival S 1.5. One observation I have is that you said the track was an aggressive, high grip, surface. That really does play well with the Rival. But on lower grip surfaces the Rival does seem to lose some time.
Good data, I'll try and include the CR1 next time
