Thanks Jon for another fantastic review. I'm so glad that you include the tire weights in the specs and the braking distance. I computed the average longitudinal deceleration from the straight line braking distance and came up with 1.11g for the Continental and 0.99g for the mixed budget. That's really amazing for the Conti. I have much the same feeling about the Michelin PS4S that I have on my Z; great grip, great wet performance but too vague and imprecise on dry cornering. I may be asking too much from this tire that was not designed to excel in this category. Perhaps the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 would be better suited to my likes.
@@Bob-kt4yz No, my car with the OEM Bridgestone Potenza S007 didn't have the softer steering characteristics as this tire. The Potenzas had much stiffer sidewalls that contributed to their more precise response to steering inputs. Of course there was a tradeoff, in that the ride was harsher and a little noisier but I attribute the noise difference to the difference in tread design. Because of the less stiff sidewalls of the Michelins, I discovered that I had to increase inflation pressures by about 12 psi over the Bridgestone's pressures to maintain equal wear across the tread width. I did not say that the Michelins were not excellent road tires, they are, but I was commenting on what I surmised as a deliberate design difference that was aimed to satisfy a particular market need. I see the value in what expert drivers like Jon here provide in giving us helpful information about the handling characteristics of these not so cheap tires and I also appreciate the thoughtful comments of others who can share their driving experiences with these tires on different cars. I am puzzled by what you found so amusing in my comment, perhaps I'm missing something?
@@Bob-kt4yz No problem Jon, I didn't realize it was you. Sometimes I can be a little obtuse. My Z is a 370 and yes it is too heavy for my liking. That's my main complaint about the car, although Nissan's engineers did work hard to keep the weight down with things like aluminium doors, hood and hatch. I'm planning on putting the car on a diet to see how much excess weight I can shed without affecting the aesthetics. Future mods include lighter Magnesium wheels and two piece brake rotors with aluminum hats, for lower unsprung weight and better suspension dynamics.
@@Bob-kt4yz That's a good point in favor of having tires that are more supple, a good term with which to describe that characteristic. The roads in the San Francisco bay area, where I live, have deteriorated badly over the years and so it might not be a bad idea to have such tires on the expensive mag wheels I'm considering. I already have to drive carefully in going over speed bumps and driveway dips, so as to avoid scraping my car's chin spoiler and the front tire's wind deflectors.
For all other viewers, the track is Contidrome belonging to Continental, also the car is registered in Hannover. Is the final ranking biased by this fact?
I can assure you no. There can sometimes be a VERY small home advantage but nearly every tyre test you see will be done at a PG owned by a tyre manufacture, as they're the only places to do them properly (short of somewhere like idiada which is impossible to film at and even if you do it there you're hosted by a tyre manufacturer). We're very lucky that in europe at least there's a good history with independent testing. You can also check out all the other testes of the SC7 on www.tyrereviews.com from other PGs.
Brilliant and through review. There is lots of love for the Goodyear Eagle F1 tyre as I purchased the Asymmetric 5 on the basis of your review Jonathan. So far, 400 miles in and I am loving its all round performance and sporty feel that it now gives my mk7.5 GTi performance.
Depending on your annual mileage, i can suggest you also dunlop rt (RT not rt2), i know they are older (and they wear very fast), but i have them on my golf and the grip is awesome even with 0 degrees and they are also perfect on heavy rain. (dunlop and goodyear are together)
The biggest issue with the ContactSport 6 was the wear, drastically lower than other tyres. Continental claims the 7 lasts 17% longer than the 6, but honestly that's not enough. That'd still be a huge way behind other brands.
Was wondering about Michelin PS5 and Goodyear AS6, then i looked at tires sizes at testing and understood why they aren't there at moment. Great comparsion!
a successor to the 4s, interesting!!! nvm apparently it's only a replacement for the 4, it might perform similar or maybe worse to 4s. I would like to see a 4s vs 5 comparison
Thanks a lot for all your work ! Please include Yokohama A052 in your future extreme performance tyre tests ! Would love to know how it compares to Contis, Michelins and Goodyears
I have ps4s couldn’t agree with you more whilst they’re very safe and a great all rounder, they don’t feel sporty at all, on turn in slow to respond. I fell for the RUclips hype on Michelins will be trying the contis or Bridgestones next - BMW M2 owner
Amazing ! And love to bmw / toyota jokes throughout the test! I have been waiting to see the new Conti performance. Hopefully this will not further drive pricing up.
I love watching these uploads and listening to your reviews and I make up my mind what to buy then I look and all the top tyre manufacturers never make them in 17” yes I know it’s old fashioned running 17 but as with most small cars 18’s run terrible compared to 17’s so at the moment I can’t buy any off the top makes which is very annoying, Keep up the great work 👍
Here is another thought. How about doing a comparison of the tires internal structure by cutting them open and showing the cross section view, for example, the thickness of the tire wall and the expensive safety features that make for tire safety?
Something I noticed was that the weight of the Continental was around 900g lighter than the other tyres - which isn't a massive unsprung saving, but I assume that had a positive impact on feel at very least?
actually wasn't surprised about Nankang. They are often brought up on forums and a few race teams actually use them for their decent performance and cheaper price.
That Continental Sportcontact 7 looks fantastic. However, in the US you can only get that tire in two 21” sizes. That is useless for us because most cars can’t work with that diameter of tire. What good is a tire if it isn’t available in sizes we need?
Would it be possible to do the review of worn-out ( 1,6-2 mm tread depth ) budget tyres of no-name brands versus top brands, is there still a significant difference in braking, handling and etc.?
This is one of my absolute favorite channels on YT and I pore over every observation you make about the current crop you are reviewing. You also deserve way more subs, so keep up the great work.
It would have been great to have the falken fk510 for these sizes. This video is otherwise spot on. The weight and track wear is a great idea for this kind of vehicule. Maybe a picture of the tread after the day would be also useful, to see if the tire as been running on its flank etc...
Had the FK510 on my 997S. Literally felt like a winter tire when hustling the car. Could have been the rear bias of my car, but I couldn’t get those off of my car fast enough. Wet grip and comfort was good, as was dry grip, but super soft sidewalls ruined the total experience.
@@amrit10 As someone who doesnt put winter tyres on (live in australia), how would you compare the dry grip compared to stallwarts like michelin PS4S. Is it about 85% as good? IMO the question is do we even push the tyres hard enough to see these differences on road? I have a feeling we dont even cross that threshold that you only really would see on track when absolutely flogging it. But this is from me who has no experience with them
@@supaahflyy I had the same thinking, can I get close to the grip of a top tier tyre with less cost? Yes, in corner grip is quite good, and maybe 85% of the PS4S. The problem for me was that the steering felt mushy at all times. Slower reaction to steering inputs, and unforgivable for me, high speed straight line instability (above 120kmh due to soft sidewalls). Increasing tyre pressures did not help
Tbh the biggest upside of the PS4S is how long it lasts for daily driving. You can easily get 30k-40k miles out of them. You get great value for that tire, however I’m curious as to how many real world miles you get out of the Continental
Fantastic review as always, but you've already spoiled us with your way of doing it. As I've tried the Michelin PS4, PS4S and Michelin Pilot Super Sport, I still like the old Super Sport the best, older compound but no vagueness as with PS4s, feels much sportier to me. Now I'm on GY F1 Supersport and really happy with it.
Bought the Potenza Sport last year and I‘m impressed, I’m still keeping an eye on wear but so far it’s been pretty good. The performance it delivers after a little warm up is outstanding in my opinion.
They give much more sporty ride and steering feel than the PS4 which seems to have been listed the only sport tyre by many. The initial 6.7mm is a shame and when it’s hot it wears faster. So for a part time sports car they are my fav, but for a daily the Goodyear or Michelin are bit more suitable. For rs3 or the lambo I can see why they are a good factory choice
@@gazman9468 my potenza sports lasted ages more than 2 trackdays, they are the hardest compound out all the road tyres so last the longest. I think you been running the wrong pressures
@@tyrereviews Michelin Cup 2, I noticed the cup 2 have more grip on dry roads only if you bring them to a nice hot temperature, for everithing else the Cont 7 are superior even on the dry, amazing review! 👌
Fantastic review as always my man. What would be interesting is if you can measure wear on the tyres, and life expectancy. I was always under the impression the continentals wore out fairly quickly, and Michelins had a (in the USA) guarantee on mileage. These tyres cost big money, and that's a reasonable consideration.
Great review! Nnow it would be great to know the results of UHP on this car. I know UHP were done few months back, but it was done on FWD hatchback and results just doesn't translate if one is looking for the tyres to fit on luxury car. I feel that Premium UHP tyres are most at home on luxury car (say BMW 3 or 5 series, MB or Lexus) - the cars with decent amount of power, RWD, but not track cars. As such it is hard to know what to fit on Luxury car, when results comes from hot-hatch on the track, yet one would not fit UUHP on such cars, because they just not getting tracked.
I replaced the Bridgestone Potenza S001 with the Conti Sport contact 7 and I am very, very happy. Specially during this very wet spring here in Switzerland.
I've fitted 245/45 18 GY Supersport on a Tesla performance 3. All I can say is like the name, a supersport tyre. Fun on off/on ramps. Squared setup with light rims(8.5kg) combined 19kg per corner. Will try with lower tyre pressure this season. 40 hot.
Really cool shot with the drone at 6 minutes with the water trails behind the car asymmetrically showing which tire is gripping as the car leans on the turns. Well done!
I’m still wondering why your graphs don’t start at zero. Differences between tires look huge while in reality they aren’t. Also I would love to see a big test on used tires that are near the minimum tread depth to see how they hold up compared to each other and the manufacturers performance claims!
I’m looking forward to seeing reviews of the latest Falken Azenis, the FK520. Based on your recommendation I stuck some on a V6 Saab wagon. They were immense. Tried them on my RCZ, also great, as was the Maxxis VS5. Now to decide on a new set for the latest car, a C350cdi.
Great roundup! 2 years in, I’m loving the PS4S on my 440i. I agree, there is a definite delay in steering at the upper limit. But hard to find a better all round tire IMO. But man those Continentals!
Great review as always, clear, informative and entertaining! The Conti SC7 delivers amazing performance. On a previous vehicle, I very much enjoyed the feel and grip of it's Conti5P tires, but found the wear to be very high, in line with it's low UTQG wear rating number. The Michelin PS4S that replaced them much better wear resistance as was suggested by it's better UTQG wear number (300 vs 240 for the Contis), albeit at the expense of steering feel as I see you've noted for the PS4S. I understand the UTQG ratings are not always representative of true wear performance, and I note that Conti doesn't publish these ratings (on their USA site at least), so my question is: is there now a reliable wear rating system for tires and if not, have you been able to gain any impression of how the Conti SC7's will wear? Looking forward to seeing how the next iteration of the PS S series compares! Also eager to see the upcoming PS5 test.
J ai le continental sport contact 7 il s use très vite comme le potenza sport un peu près mais j' ai essayé le goodyear F1 supersport après et été déçu je reste sur le continental sport contact 7 même si l usure et élevé il n' y a pas meilleur pneus
Jonathan I'm writing a fourth comment (I know I'm exaggerating) but have you ever the possibility to compare the Nankang NS2, Nankang AS1, Nankang NS2R and the Nankang AS2 in the same test? I'd love to see which one is actually better because no tests were made yet on the internet. Thanks again ✌️ keep up the good work, can't wait for the next one
Kudos to you and your team for putting together an amazing shootout comparison. I've zero intention on ever buying these tires but it's so interesting and well done, I can't help but to watch. I'm really looking forward to the review of the latest UHP A/S collection as well as the all-weather tire comparison.
Personally, the most waited video of the year so far. Must be age... Anyway, excellent once again Mr Benson, thank you for the perfect balance of objectively and personal assessment of tyres. Those Continental are mighty and I'll surely think about them when the time comes to swap over my current set of PS4S!
Awesome work as always! I wonder about the duration of the Contis? Remember the Pirellis they put on Gulia Quatroformagio from the factory? Great performance but gone after 5k km..
Blame Alfa for that lol. I've not seen any wear test of the new SC7 however the recently conti tyres such as PC6 and ASC have all been very good in wear.
WOW!! Conti must be on fire, first the wintercontact 870p, and now this huge upgrade from the dreadfully dull earlier sportcontacts... Were were the pirellis?!?!?
The time of year to switch back to summer tires is approaching here in France, so for the first time ever i'm "ringing the bell" because the PS5 test will decide what i'm buying next month 🔔
Another excellent review. I readily admit to being a bit of a Michelin advocate but I think I'm going to try the Continentals next time around. The aquaplaning resistance is a small concern but otherwise definitely worth trying. Thank you.
The aquaplane resistance is relatively poor out of the other UHP tyres but I think as long as you're not driving like a mad man in wet weather, you should be fine. I myself have only used Contis on my car as the Michelins tend to be around some 20-30£ more expensive in my country (x5 the amount)
@@randomesteven3935 I agree with you for the most part. I fell in love with the Michelin's from the first time I used them. As I live in the tropics I especially appreciated them in wet weather. Sudden and torrential downpours are definitely a thing. Unfortunately, while my country does have legislation regarding minimum tire tread depth it is almost universally ignored. Also, the majority of the population take advantage of 'foreign-used' tires so the tread depth is border-line from the moment they put them on their vehicle. This results in some questionable driving habits in the wet. Vehicles going 60-65 km/h in the overtaking lane of a 100 km/h highway is regretfully common (lane discipline is also sadly lacking). So, any advantage I can get in wet weather driving I'm inclined to take.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a solid tire but the classic Pilot Super Sports should have made this list. Sidewall more representative of a Sport Cup 2, better options in 19/20 setups, not to mention you can go wide with a 335 and still have a 25 sidewall. 345 with a 30 sidewall on a 20 is funky. 4S also $100+ more in every diameter.
Great results for the contis, but I struggle to get 9,000 miles out of conti 6. Most of those were sedately driven (as sedately as one can drive a car with over 500 hp ). They also crab when slightly cold, so manoeuvring in tight spaces is a pain. I wonder how these 7s will do in those regards.
This is very interesting, I got 18,000 miles from Conti SportContact 5, mostly riding like insane including a visit to the circuit, I throw them out with a 1.5mm left off. I doubt the newer generation would be even better off. FWD 300 HP hothatch
Nice work! I look forward to these all year. I would love to see a comparison of tires for 15 inch wheels, if there are enough changes in that market to warrant such a test. My 85 MR2 can't go any bigger. Cheers!
While I haven't been able to work them to their extremes, I've very much enjoyed my Continental TrueContact tires. I'd love to be able to run a good uhp in the summer, and maybe go back to a good winter rated all season when it gets cold (southeast US). Definitely loving continental...I may see about getting a set of those, or at least the Extreme Contact soon.
Hi James. Do you know the difference in the extreme contact, sport contact, true contact, and control contact continental tires? I got the discount tire exclusive control contact sport srs + tires and can't for the life of me find the answer. I'm hoping they are as good as the ones in this video
@@gretre4560 the extreme contact is a UHP all season tire, as is the control contact, the true contact is an all season touring tire, and the sport contact is a summer tire. The extreme contact and control contact should be somewhat similar, I would think.
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 OK nice. That's what I'm really hoping. I had the federal evolutions like in this video and man they were trash. I couldn't win from a dig. They would spin all the way through second. Bought the control contacts yesterday but it was raining. Thanks man! I appreciate your reply
I'll have to wait and see how they wear. I found the SportContact 6's very comparable to the PS4S in performance, at least until they got very hot, but I got 9K-10K miles on the Conti's and get 18K-19K miles on the Michelins. For all my love of the PS4S, I hope to see them dethroned. It's good for competition, plus it will mean that there's an even more incredible tire out there!
Always enjoy watching these. Wonder how the tyres would react differently on a sporty fwd car vs the rear drive here. Like a veloceter n or a civic type r or a GTI.
I can give you feedback in a few weeks when i get my continentals fitted. I had Bridgestones Potenza Sports last year and before that Michelin PS4S, so i can give you some feedback on differences between those 3 😁
@@zuzo777 oh hehe completely forgot, they are a very well balanced tyre and best out of the 3 i would say, doesnt need much heat and somehow its frightening how similar wet grip feels to dry grip, you have to be careful because it just makes you push the car more. Bridgestones are more direct but not much in it. In corners Bridgestones in the back run out of grip before Contis do. I would rate it 9.5/10 for a uhp tyre. Very versitile with slight weak area being comfort and aquaplaning you have to watch out for it because the car gives you so much confidence in the wet.
really really helpful !! it is interesting how tires have A grade wet handling but in tests they perform very different. same A grade but different practical results. that is why your testing is best way to make a good decision in buying a tyre. thank you very much for publish the tests
We want immediately a review from the new goodyear f1 asm 6 against the previous and its competitors to small dimensions (17"-18")... keep the nice work
Honestly the Continentals results are visible in the last segment. It's a "rounded" contact patch vs a flat like the rest. This helps track performance by creating grip under low camber settings since the car is not a track car and does not run 3 degrees negative front and 2+ rear. Pretty obvious to my eye. Sure, it's a great tire and compound but the shape makes it the handler!
You are right. I recently bought a Jaguar XKR 5.0 Ltr with two different budget tyres on the back and the cheapest Nexens on the front. It was lethal under power in the dry. The next day I swapped to Contis.
I got the potenza sport last year and am very impressed by the responsiveness, I don't mind if they wear a bit faster as I paid $300 less than the Michelin.

I've never clicked so fast to watch a vid !! Love this tire test Jonathan !!! Greetings from Barcelona :)
Thanks! I was just in Madrid and Valencia!
@@tyrereviews Oh , Nice !! Hope you could bring us the Pirelli UHP and Hankook UHP. Greetings ;)
Purchased the Michelin Cross Climate 2 on Jon’s advice and was not disappointed. Some of best All Season and even snow tyres I’ve ever used.
Seconded!
I’d love for him to cover a comparison between the CrossClimate 2 and Pilot Sport 4 AS - they seem really similar and I love his breakdowns and data!
Eagerly awaiting a test between the new PS5/5S and these Continentals 🙏
Great tyres :)
Have the same tyres on my 7.5 GTE , on 7 gti clubsport 18" belvedere rims.
Depending on your annual mileage, i can suggest you also dunlop rt (RT not rt2), i know they are older (and they wear very fast), but i have them on my golf and the grip is awesome even with 0 degrees and they are also perfect on heavy rain. (dunlop and goodyear are together)
@@shadow6687 I had the Dunlop RT2 on when I bought my GTi and I hated them. I am usually a Pirelli person, but these Assy 5 are just fantastic.
Why ASY5? The 6’s are out now
The biggest issue with the ContactSport 6 was the wear, drastically lower than other tyres. Continental claims the 7 lasts 17% longer than the 6, but honestly that's not enough. That'd still be a huge way behind other brands.
Glad you mentioned this because that is the only way to get the results of the Continental, by leaving a ton of rubber on the track
Was wondering about Michelin PS5 and Goodyear AS6, then i looked at tires sizes at testing and understood why they aren't there at moment. Great comparsion!
Thank you for realising!
well waiting on the review with the new PilotSport5 and F1 AS6 ... would be a great year for new tyre purchase i suppose
Now i want to see as6 vs ps5 and this conti 7. I know it different league, but performance should be similar.
a successor to the 4s, interesting!!!
nvm apparently it's only a replacement for the 4, it might perform similar or maybe worse to 4s. I would like to see a 4s vs 5 comparison
On it!
Can’t wait for Assymetric 6 review.
Awesome job by Continental.
I'd like to see the Pilot Sport 5 vs the 4S in terms of hot lapping.
Exactly - good point
Apparently the 5 replaces the 4, not the 4S. Might've been in another video that he said the 4S is still more UUHP.
Thanks a lot for all your work !
Please include Yokohama A052 in your future extreme performance tyre tests ! Would love to know how it compares to Contis, Michelins and Goodyears
I love how consistently you called it a Z4. Got a good chuckle outta me.
Something I noticed was that the weight of the Continental was around 900g lighter than the other tyres - which isn't a massive unsprung saving, but I assume that had a positive impact on feel at very least?
comfort, yes, handling usually not as they reduce the materal in the sidewall giving less feel
actually wasn't surprised about Nankang.
Working on it
Absolutely the best, unbiased tire reviews on the net. Thanks for your thoughtful analysis!
Thanks!
THE most thorough review on the net, period. Love your work!
Would have loved to see the newest Pirelli in this test along with the new Michelin PS5. Congrats to the Conti though. That is a very impressive tire.
Summer tyre reviews are on the way. Well done!
Amazing test! Thank you.
I am a bit surprised you chose Kumho PS71 instead of PS91 for this test.
This is one of my absolute favorite channels on YT and I pore over every observation you make about the current crop you are reviewing.
You also deserve way more subs, so keep up the great work.
What size tires do you run on your Focus? Most of these tires don't even come in my sizes but I still watch every video.
It would have been great to have the falken fk510 for these sizes.
This video is otherwise spot on. The weight and track wear is a great idea for this kind of vehicule. Maybe a picture of the tread after the day would be also useful, to see if the tire as been running on its flank etc...
The FK520 was announced already but not available so I had to skip it
Had the FK510 on my 997S. Literally felt like a winter tire when hustling the car. Could have been the rear bias of my car, but I couldn’t get those off of my car fast enough. Wet grip and comfort was good, as was dry grip, but super soft sidewalls ruined the total experience.
Thanks for feedbacks. Too bad they are cheap... 😅.
Probably going to Eagle F1 SS next time then.
Great to watch you do this corner dancing and crushing a flood of information with this passion at the same time- completely amusing as always!
Tbh the biggest upside of the PS4S is how long it lasts for daily driving. You can easily get 30k-40k miles out of them. You get great value for that tire, however I’m curious as to how many real world miles you get out of the Continental
I get 20k out of mine with somewhat spirited driving
I think he means PS4S, the contis are only just out to manage 20k...
8k miles for my ps4s 🧐😅
The PS4S have great longevity. I’m at 12K with mine and still going strong!
@@JtwasLuck I’m at 12k with mine and they’re past the wear indicator already 😂
Just don't take them on track! I did and they were ruined in a day. For a road tyre they're a decent choice though.
i had the S001 very good impressive fun when wet
@@gazman9468 my potenza sports lasted ages more than 2 trackdays, they are the hardest compound out all the road tyres so last the longest.
I think you been running the wrong pressures
@@Dan__TGTwhat pressure should he be running?
Recently I swapped both my summer (PremiumContact 7) and winter (WinterContact TS860) tire set to Continental and I´m very satisfied with them
finally yesterday I put the Sport Conti 7 only because of this video, so happy with them
Yay, what did they replace?
@@tyrereviews Michelin Cup 2, I noticed the cup 2 have more grip on dry roads only if you bring them to a nice hot temperature, for everithing else the Cont 7 are superior even on the dry, amazing review! 👌
@@car_palsup car pal, didnt expect to see you here 😂 what car you got IRL?
of course, that was the reason for this video :))
Thank you. So much. It’s impossible to piece together random subjective anecdotes when researching tires.
Reviewing a tyre while driving fast is just insane and I really enjoy watching this! Truly a remarkable talent!
I replaced the Bridgestone Potenza S001 with the Conti Sport contact 7 and I am very, very happy. Specially during this very wet spring here in Switzerland.
Thorough and succinct as ever. Great work.
Thank you!
Well done! Thanks for being here for us!
Great video to watch at lunch break and good article to read after work in the evening, 10+ for material Jonathan

New benchmark arrived, congrats Conti and Thanks Jonathan for this brand new test in excellent quality for tyre freaks.
Excellent, unbiased review!
Glad you liked it!
40 hot.
ooo how you getting on with them?
Brilliant review as always! Many thanks for all your work!
Glad you like them!
Casually drifting along a narrow wet track. Great driving along with the great reviewing!
Thanks :D
Having fitted a set of continental contact 7's at work today I have got to say they have a very nice sidewall design compared to previous versions 👍
How stiff is the sidewall?
Really cool shot with the drone at 6 minutes with the water trails behind the car asymmetrically showing which tire is gripping as the car leans on the turns. Well done!
This is great stuff! Gonna stick with the Michelin 4S since I don't track...and I respect the good aqua planing performance of it.
I think 4S is great when going at 7/10 from the limit, it's a bit relaxed and still very grippy and somewhat comfy.
I run 4S on my M2, no regrets so far.
Finally another Tire review vid! Love these
Thanks :d
I’m still wondering why your graphs don’t start at zero. Differences between tires look huge while in reality they aren’t.
Also I would love to see a big test on used tires that are near the minimum tread depth to see how they hold up compared to each other and the manufacturers performance claims!
Because on mobile you can't see the differnces if they start at 0
Just had Conti SportContact 7's fitted to my B7 RS4, can't wait to put some miles on it.
Getting a set of those SC7's on my 335d at the weekend....looking forward to it even more now
Great roundup! 2 years in, I’m loving the PS4S on my 440i. I agree, there is a definite delay in steering at the upper limit. But hard to find a better all round tire IMO. But man those Continentals!
very important information for me with a 100 hp jalopy and alignment all over the place due to worn out suspension
You need slicks
I had the sc 5p before on my car. Gone after 15'000km. Now Sc7, look brand new after 8'000km. Totally would recommend
Where is the review of the Pilotsport 5 ?
Jonathan I'm writing a fourth comment (I know I'm exaggerating) but have you ever the possibility to compare the Nankang NS2, Nankang AS1, Nankang NS2R and the Nankang AS2 in the same test? I'd love to see which one is actually better because no tests were made yet on the internet. Thanks again ✌️ keep up the good work, can't wait for the next one
Are these not cheap as chips almost use once Chinese track tyres they do a slick a semi and the NS2R been sort of like a road and track.
AR1 semi slick, it's the one a lot of people use on ring taxi's and the NS2R is like a wet version or much less slick ish.
@@TheWatchman1893 nice to know, thanks. But I'd still like to see the actual perf difference
Brilliant result for the Conti SC7 🏆 I have SC6 fitted to my 350z, so when the time comes the 7's look like just the ticket.
I´m so glad that there is a channel like this!
Thank you.
I agree. PS4S are quite old so the crown was bound to be taken one day.
The new SportContac 7 tyres offer more duration.
This is very interesting, I got 18,000 miles from Conti SportContact 5, mostly riding like insane including a visit to the circuit, I throw them out with a 1.5mm left off. I doubt the newer generation would be even better off. FWD 300 HP hothatch
"driving a warm bath..." Now that, is the level of sophisticated journalism we expect from Tyre Reviews!
I try my best to be as accurate as possible!
Nice work! I look forward to these all year. I would love to see a comparison of tires for 15 inch wheels, if there are enough changes in that market to warrant such a test. My 85 MR2 can't go any bigger. Cheers!
I think the type of test you want for your mr2 will sadly never be done :( There are 15" tests every year but not for those sort of tyres
Friendly warm bath - is a great analogy. I would love to hear more of those Clarkson/May/Hammond like describtions.
I try and be as accurate as possible!
@@tyrereviews and you are killing it.
It's good for competition, plus it will mean that there's an even more incredible tire out there!
the SC6 was trash in wear, new conti stuff is much better :)

That would be a good watch as well! Perhaps bring both a GTI and a Golf R to see how much the AWD factors in...
I can give you feedback in a few weeks when i get my continentals fitted. I had Bridgestones Potenza Sports last year and before that Michelin PS4S, so i can give you some feedback on differences between those 3 😁
@@kalfreak3 So any word on how they work? :P
Thank you!
You did acknowledge the car properly. BMW Supra
We want immediately a review from the new goodyear f1 asm 6 against the previous and its competitors to small dimensions (17"-18")... keep the nice work
you'll be happy in a month
Honestly the Continentals results are visible in the last segment. It's a "rounded" contact patch vs a flat like the rest. This helps track performance by creating grip under low camber settings since the car is not a track car and does not run 3 degrees negative front and 2+ rear. Pretty obvious to my eye. Sure, it's a great tire and compound but the shape makes it the handler!
Still fitting Yokohama A052 as my street tire on my 2018 Mustang GT EU spec (PP1 in the US). We want the grip and the wet weather thrill. :p
You are right. I recently bought a Jaguar XKR 5.0 Ltr with two different budget tyres on the back and the cheapest Nexens on the front. It was lethal under power in the dry. The next day I swapped to Contis.
