Hey all. I realise this much data is a lot to take in, and can only be told in one way. I've tried to be as open and honest as possible with how these tests are scored, but if you want more information I really suggest using the article on the website to make your own buying choice based on the data: www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2020-Tyre-Reviews-Ultimate-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm There's also loads of other tests on the Tyre Reviews website, and user reviews, so you can make the right choice for your own priorities based on multiple information sources :)
I think you have picked the wrong car for the test. I say that because there is so little difference between these tires. Perhaps in the future the heaviest and most powerful that uses that size...
I think you timed the video completely wrong. It's the middle of summer, most people already bought summer tires if they needed them. Now is the time for all-season or winter tyres. Or high-performance ones. Or some fun stuff. Other than that, good video.
After 40+ years of obsessive reading about everything automotive this is THE ONLY RUclips chanel that is really serious about the subject and I highly enjoy and recommend it. About the test: GoodYear will last longer and is cheaper per km(mile),so it's my favorit. Excellent job mate. P.S. All you jerks trying to do a "car test" on YT,take notice. Driving your neighbour's car around the block or parking lot IS NOT A CAR TEST.
@@patrik2259 except he's driving on goodyear's track and he's sponsored by them. so expect biased results. If you noticed goodyear tire is at the top in every benchmark. but is it really? I don't think so.
@@korencek I have had 16 cars and all came with different tires. Continental, Michelin, most of the times. I have purchase sets of Falcon, BF Goodrich, Michelin, and Goodyears....all types of Goodyears. In my opinion they are awesome and do the best job for my driving and last longer. On my Son´s car.....I purchased a set of Goodyears to make sure he is safe in all conditions from personal experience. This is my honest opinion as it is my Son and I want hime to be as safe as possible at high speeds. GoodYear has been in my life for 30 years and I really trust them. Today I purchased a set of Continental Premium Contact 6 for myself. I need to test to see if it is as reliable on response and predicting handling as ALL the Good year tires I have used through the Years. Eagle NCT, NCT1,NCT2,NCT3 and EFFICIENTGRIP PERFORMANCE 2...the last ones I added to my Sons Honda CRX Vtec. I trust them so really do not think it is publicity...they are very good and I respect the tires with my Son´s life.
This is the only RUclips channel that I actually clicked the notification bell on. Your delivery is literally the perfect mix of honesty, humility, and expertise in the field. Hats off to Goodyear for the use of the track. That alone says a lot about the confidence they have in their own product. That impresses me more than a .02 second advantage in a lap time.
It would be genuinely interesting to see a comparison between a company's sports tyre and their everyday tyre where they overlap in sizes - eg Primacy 4 vs PS4 in 225/45/17 - or Efficient grip vs Eagle. We could see the performance advantage and also what the trade offs are.
man, your contribution to savvy consumers is immense. thank you so much for putting in the effort and for helping us make sense of the technical and wide world of tyres!
We own a tyre Shop in İstanbul and we added hankook tyres to the mix after you explained how they are a premium brand from now on. You actually steer my work to the right direction. Thank you.
@@dan_6915 Well in Turkey people tend to go for more known brands like Bridgestone and Goodyear. (Both have factories here.)It is risky buying korean products cause you cant sell. That what i meant.
Selamlar

This is a fantastic test. Thank you for being the most solid "Go-To" tire channel on YT. Your professionalism and presentation of the data is top-notch. I'm sure this project was exhausting, but very well done, sir. Keep it up, Luis
This is a service. Seriously. Every time I need to buy tires you are my second stop. First I check out my local shops websites to see what is available, then I read your site and watch your videos to see which tire is for me!!! Thank you
Falkens all the way, still classed as barely mid range but top of the range performance. Have used them now for the last 8 years. Great noise, economy, feedback and overall performance.
I was thinking about falkens already. Now i use Hankook Ventus Prime 3 and when it was new about 8mm it behaved really well on dry and wet in my opinion, now after 2 years and 23 000 km and 5mm left on them I feel more sliding on high speed corners on dry but without ESP reaction, but comparing new one to 5mm on wet it is turning ESP much quicker. Braking efficiency decreased also, the most on wet with a lot of ABS reaction. In 2018 test it was Tire number One. Now it is not. Maybe it something with rubber mixture compared to its price and time (2 years of driving already). Of course it is not that bad at all but im searching for something else, still looking for my favourite Brand, Hankook is much better than Matadors, CEAT, Paxaro, Debica and SAVA I used. Now I have recognized that Hankook is already a Premium Brand.
I did quite a bit of research. In my case I wasn't very interested in longevity. I ended up buying Ohtsu fp7000's for all-season. Like Falken, they are both in the Sumitomo family.
Your having a laugh I've falkens on at moment on a skoda 1.0 tsi and they are down right dangerous in slippery conditions stay away from them, I'm changing next week to 4 e primacy,, Stay safe
You are really my only trusted website/channel for tyres. This is literally the only channel illustrates these data, testings and comparisons. Thanks a lot.
Bought the Goodyears based on this review (as they're £15 cheaper per tyre than the Contis on my car) and am really pleased with them. Much better than the Pirelli Cinturanos it was on before. Tt'll be interesting to see how they wear. Thanks for an excellent video!
Your having a laugh! I've got 4 falkens on at moment 10 months old and they are being changed before christmas, No grip whatsoever to a point they are dangerous in the snow, Changing to primacy e and I only drive a skoda 1.0 tsi hat hatchback, Folk out there steer clear of falkens reviews do not tell all the story, Keep safe.
I replaced my tyres two weeks ago! I'm glad my choice was Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2, based on TUV test and my experience with the previous gen. Thanks for your amazing work.
I am stuck between Hankook k435 kinergy ECO 2 and Bridgestone Turanza. It really depends on if I have the money I would definitely get the Bridgestone's.
I like and follow Tyre Reviews and I always look on your website when I make my purchase. I'd love to see such a deep comparison for SUV tires and I don't mean off-road tires. SUV's are some of the most often car type on the road now and I became fan of in the last years. Great job!
Bro this test has answered all my nebulous hesitations and misjudgments about tyres in less than 5 minutes! I never expected the Goodyear and the Falken to be so fast, and even less the Falken to be so good at dry braking! And my car is a FWD with probably the same weight class than your Golf so this is golden. Thank you for the huge work. I'm saving this for later... And going for a tire change tomorrow!

This just proved my feelings that Falken are really really good! I have Conti SC5 at the front on my Swift Sport and Falken at the back and I can't get them to lose grip, no way for lift-off oversteer, even when trail braking. Same model as in your test, just in 195/45R17
What I love about your vids is how objective you are. Even when not the winner, you say what you felt. For example with michelin, even not the best of the best and pricey, I ended getting them and what I instantly felt is just what you told us here; if you look for comfort in your daily ride, they are the best, and for me that is the main thing as for all the km they will last in my everyday ride I want the best comfort!
Terrific review! Your choice of Falken in top three bolstered my trust in your judgement. I noticed that Falken was always in the top five in EVERY test whereas others dropped out( except subjective comfort) thx for this info! Well done.
Thank you (3 years on) for this superb head to head, I was stuck between the Continental and the Goodyear, I still am. I've had the Conti Ecocontact 6 for 3 years, everything you said was spot on. They have fantastic all round performance which is let down by harsh ride and road noise.
I came accross your channel recently, yiur are one hell of a guy. We find very few people like you who actually make very interesting videos and also help in makunf their decisions
Great stuff! The world needs this kind of tyre testing! There’s so little of it, and consumers have very little guidance. Up with comprehensive comparative testing of everyday tyres! I especially appreciate the comfort and noise testing! Awesome noise testing setup! Thanks for your efforts!
Recently got a set of uni royals for my mums fiesta as I think you data says it all, maybe a bit numb as a drivers tyre but the wet/aqua plaining ability gives such confidence it’s great especially on something for people who lets say can’t drive to the conditions as they should.
Awesome yet again! 🙂 This almost confirms my experience with a few tyres. My dad had Pirelli Cinturato P7s on his car. Was noisier and less smooth and grippy in the wet. Change to Continental Premium Contact and the difference was startling. It was so smooth and quiet. My mom's car came with Michelin Primacys. It had good wet grip but became noisier the older it got. It did make the car feel very darty though. We replaced it with Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance and it is a quiet tyre with good wet grip but the car does not feel as darty as before and it sometimes makes a weird resonant noise depending on surface. It also looks flat even when it is not. Strange but we all noticed it. It bulges out more. As an aside, my car has Pirelli P Zeros which I can not wait to get rid of. Wet grip is awful, it is noisy and makes a lot of noises over ridges and bumps, lots of thumping and when the tyres are cold, the rear wheels just go out of control. It may have something to do with the 640nm of torque but when it is hot it grips much better. Not a fan of Pirelli.
Go Michelin Pilot Sport 4, you will not be disappointed. In the 50+ major tyre reviews, its in top 3 or 5 of all the tests. Year after year. I recommend everybody get them. Tyres are the thing that keeps the car on the road. Dont skimp on spending like $100 extra. (its bugger all in grand scheme of things)
I agree. I feel like I have double the grip and performance on my car, even with the budget General tires, then the hockey-Puck-material Cinturato P7s that came off. Smooth and wet concrete was basically black ice with those deathtraps.
@@FrankieShovels I got just shy of 72,000 miles on the Pirelli P7 Cinturano All Season Plus on my 2014 VW Passat. Agreed wet grip isn't great. Awareness negates crashes if common sense is used. Disclaimer. I monitor and maintain the cold tire pressure every couple of weeks, rotate at regular intervals. Of course an excellent wheel alignment by my VW master tech. Just bought the P7 AS PLUS II. Only a couple of hundred miles. So far so good. Hopefully I'll get great wear and improved wet grip with this new iteration of the P7 Cinturano as plus II. So far, I'm a Pirelli fan over the many sets of Michelins and Conti's I've had. Time will tell.
Lots of value in this one, much appreciated. The thing I took from this comparison were that two of the top 3 recommended tires had trouble with aquaplaning, which can be a death sentence in certain situations. That kind of information can be a life saver and I'm glad you didn't let it fall under the table. Cheers mate.
I love the quality of these videos! They're very useful, you cover absolutely everything and leave no questions unanswered! Keep it up, hopefully the channel continues to grow!
Wow, i am really suprised that Hankook wasn't so good in test but the test also convinced me that i should choose between Conti and Falken as my new set of summer tyres Great test, good job :)
THANK YOU!!! I landed here for figuring out why my new Turanza T005 is so "deadly" tyre on wet. Yes it depends on tarmac greatly. But I know my roads. They are really slick when wet. Before I had Toyo Proxes CF2. Grip on my (often wet) roads was surprisingly good. Than we had winter season which is mostly just damp road again at 10 degree celsius. I rolled ContiWinterContact™ TS 850 for third season (some 20.000 km) and grip was also fine. After giving my car the T005 I instantly found out grip on damp road is nowhere near the level of mentioned winter or summer tyre. Even after paying attention to the problem I had few fearful situations where car just lost grip at all at very low speed just like it would come to sudden ice. I was desperate. The tyres are so unpredictable where Toyo was just the opposite - you knew where the limit is. T005 no warning at all. Very Confy tyre (you proved it), Very good in dry (you prove it) with just a little indecision at handling compared to Toyo, very quiet, outstanding LOW rolling resistance (easily obvious from my fuel logs), quite good (almost great) in any wet situation like normal speed driving on highway or fast roads, also good when a lot of water on road. But when it comes to local roads at slow speeds and tarmac only damp, not really wet, it is like driving on ice. Breaking I can't judge. You measured large difference between the best. For me it seems not much behind other tyres I had. But I have problems with the tyre at speeds of 30-40 km/s. SO breaking is not that problematic. The most fearful is slowly driving downhill on twisted road through forest which is narrow and leave almost no margin to wait for grip and as it seems the more sharp the turn is the more forces work on tyre toward perpendicular. On fast roads I can push tyre quite a lot on the shoulders (quick lane change, moose test) and there is no problem. But at slow speed where tyre does not deform and tyre try to grip with whole surface it is slippery. IT seems tyre is very good for longitudinal forces but bad for perpendicular. I hate the tyre for that, despite it saves me cca 0,2 liter of fuel even against great winter tyre and already great Toyo. It is large family car which I drive slow anyway. But this unpredictability drives me crazy anytime it is wet. You proved all this - so I'm no crazy after all :)
Thanks for the hard work and really detailed video! I'm currently on my Premium Contact 5 for the fourth season, next year I'm getting the Premium Contact 6. 😊
Man, your tests and particularly subjective details that you bring up are on a totally different level to any known tyre testers including all governmental agencies (like golden standard ADAC, etc.). Really head and shoulders the best tyre review media (not only channel). You deserve much more attention for your splendid content.
Cheers for all the info! It was good how unbiased you were and showed the pros of each tire! Thankful to know that the Falkner tyres I bought today made top 3
I've got a few things on my mind for this test. At first a thing that is hard for you to do but here's a thing that I experienced. Tyres age very differently. We are a big family and have several cars and some of them even use the same tyre size. What I found out is, that Michelin gets extremly noisy when they age although grip is still ok then and depending on the product (Primacy or Alpin etc.) they dry rot pretty fast. Pirelli just loses Grip hideously, the tyres are 5 years old and just skid like mad on a wet road. Also with less profil a Pirelli just looses so much of its perfomance. I had 12 year old Dunlops on another car with the same tyre size and they were just so much better that I almost crashed in the same curve with the Pirelli what would have been a piece of cake for the Dunlops. Goodyear/Dunlop I can actually say not much negative about them although escpecially Goodyear Allseasons have a tendency to create a sawtooth profile which gets very noisy. Also Goodyear Allseasons tend to be to soft for very warm weather. Other than that nothing negative. I miss Nexen here in this test to be honest because I think these are excellent tyres for money and escpecially there Allseason tyre is nothing to laugh about. The wear faster than average but if you have people doing like 5k per year or even less then why not. They change their tyres usually because of age and not of wear and as Nexen is very soft they stay pliable for a little longer although most Nexens are just too young to tell right now as the good products came out in recent years. Winter tyres I can't tell but that's soon be found out. Only thing is they have different product lines with the same name only difference is the tyre label. The less noisy tyres is usually so soft it starts screeching very early at about 40-50% of maximum grip and just gets louder and louder the more you get to a 100% but as they age that gets away. Continental. Well nothing to tell although very pricy nothing negative but went to Goodyear same or sometimes better perfomance for less money. Goodride is better than most people expect from a chinese tyre escpecially if you have experienced a real chinese banger. Then there are Chinese all season tyres which look more or less like a copy of the Hankook Kinergy 4s Gen1 but they're just so much worse. There were three different cars with these and they're just horrible. The first one I can't remember the name but they were horrible enough. The second one was even worse the car had a 2.0HDi with 90Hp and it was no problem spinning the tyres to redline in 3rd gear and wet curves where dangerous it changed between slight understeer and slight oversteer all the time while rocking the car sideways. Horrible!!!! Going the speed limit and stopping on a traffic light which you just barely wouldn't clear on yellow was impossible. You could have fun with them but nooooo. They didn't wear at all. (Peugeot Partner on 16inch) The third one had those imperial ecodriver 4s on them. It's all the same like the second tyre but the car is way less powerful and curves less critical. Still hitting redline in 2 second while spinning from a standstill is no trouble and with a clutch kick even possible in 3rd. When you are stationary on a rutted road and it's wet than it is impossible to get moving without spinning the tyres no matter how carefully you take of. Nonetheless a now 21 year old had a lot of skidding fun with them the last 4 years and drove 70thousans with them and there's still no significant wear on them 2.5mm worn tops. Now the car will go to his younger brother and I bet these tyres will outlive the car. Horrible to drive but perfect for long haul driving. (Toyota Starlet 1998) No ABS or anything. Should include such tyres on a test just for fun. Hope you'll read it and reply. This is just my experience from managing 18 cars and tyres from everybody that is remotely related to me and live scattered 100miles around here.
Great comment, thank you! Always interesting to read other peoples experiences! I'm working on doing worn testing but it's very difficult logistically, hopefully we'll have something next year
I second the michelin point, i have 205/55/r16 primacy 3 and yeah within 5 years they dry rotted badly and became very noisy. Although, like you stated, the grip still remained alright in the dry.
I just got the Primacy 4 thanks to this video. My God what a lovely tire it is to drive on, and also V rated. 60km/h. 160km/h, no difference in sound, and the most comfortable tire I ever driven on. Especially now, coming of the heavy winter tires. I have them on 16 inch on big old Mondeo mk4, really complements it's suspension. One thing about them, just a bit slow in reaction, but once they load up, they feel fine. But you'd have to expect this from a softer tire, especially on 16s.
Another fantastic review. Well done! Idea: Take a favourite tire in the next category up (already reviewed) just to compare to the next level up. Pip pip!
Excellent test and reviews. Falken have come on in leaps and bounds, tried a set on a family hard driven Civic, so good were the reports i stuck a set of ZE914's on the family Forester XT (rather pricey size of 215/55 x 17), very pleased indeed especially as they were anything up to £50 a tyre cheaper than the mainstream makes at the time, can be balanced through fast corners on the throttle and they don't budge come rain or shine, they won't see winter use so can't comment on that because we have a second set of wheels and tyres for the season, could be a little quieter on rough roads but no complaints, Forester is hardly the most soundproofed car out there.
Thank you for the effort, while I had quite a few types of tires over the course of years, after seeing this video I decided to go with the Falken ones while having only Goodyears and Continentals till now. While my work involves a lot of miles, Continental and Goodyear can't go above 25k, while Goodyear has better stability cornering, they also hit the mark of wear and tear first, leading to exposed wires on the inner and outer margins. Dunlop Sport BlueResponse as they approach the wear limit they tend to lose grip both on cornering and normal acceleration. Bridgestone in 2 out of 2 cases started bulging on the inside less than 2 weeks after purchase, so I gave up on them. Dunlop Ultragrip Winter tires were a pleasant surprise if you leave the noise out.
Great info! Got myself new Falken tyres after reading some and trying to compare the differences earlier this summer. Really pleased with them, good to know that I didn't mess up my research. Thanks for having a very informative yet entertaining channel!
Maxxis have given me a free set of HP5's to test on my 2013 Mercedes E220 Estate. After 6 weeks, I'm loving them! I've had Pirelli P7 Cinturatos for the last two tyre changes, and I've found the Maxxis tyres offer far superior grip in wet and dry conditions. (Handy if you live in the UK!) I felt the Pirellis would lose grip quite easily, especially cornering in the wet. They were predictable but the poor grip was disappointing. The Maxxis HP5's are just so much better, on my regular commute I'm cornering at least 10mph faster than I could with the P7's, with no loss of grip at all, even in the wet. Plus, checking prices online, you can pick up the Maxxis HP5's for nearly half the price of Pirelli P7's. On my Merc, with air suspension, the ride has been nice and smooth, just as you'd expect on a Mercedes, so no complaints there. So far, I'm very impressed!!
I always watch your videos even though I'll never buy most of the tires and not to mention a bundle of them aren't even available where I live in Canada. But they're definitely the most informative and a great source for a consumer in the market for a new tire.
I wanted a tyre that would handle the sudden summer downpours we get. I went with the maxis hp5. It is absolutely fantastic. Even heavy rain is barely noticable through corners with this tyre, and it handles deep standing water better than i could have imagined. You can just barely notice it being slightly noisier than some other tyres. And you do notice a little harshness in bumps at lower speeds. Well worth the trade off for keeping us safe when the skies open.
As much as I love the test in general, I can't go past the fact that you took 91H from Michelin, whereas others were 'at least' V. Not much of a difference, however... perhaps significant enough to have a slightly better subjective handling notes. Presumably H and V might have marginal differences in terms of sidewalls or even the thread behaviour. Awesome test - really! Just gave more trouble picking a replacement for my Sport Maxx RT. This time I'm aiming at the comfort and am close on picking one of these tested here. Thinking of Primacy 4 or EGP2 I just bumped on the fact that different indexes were used in the test. Only, tiny little imperfection here :) Thanks for the awesome tests mate! Helped me before with previous sets, helping this year with a new one as well.
In terms of the Michelin, the two versions are the same tyre, so it didn't lose out there :) More data of both tyres on the website, www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2021-ADAC-Summer-Tyre-Test---205-55-R16.htm etc
@@tyrereviews Thanks a mil! I'll take your word and experience on it. If Primacy 4 H and V have no structural differences to affect handling (there is 0,04 kg weight difference between them though), then I know what to expect. Still a bit lost now. Primacy 4 vs Pilot Sport 4 for Ford Focus without any track / sporty aspirations (yet with a bit stiffer, 1-1,5 cm lowered 'sport suspension package'), as this is a second car in the family - more comfort and safe ride oriented. Just the fact that I'm switching from Dunlop Sport Max RT keeps me a bit worried if Primacy won't feel too sluggish for a change (205/55/R16 as tested). And there's EGP2 now as well. And my Dunlops were ridiculously quiet for performance tyres. Even on the label they had 67 dB outside, while no other tyre in this test has that. Primacy 68 dB, EGP2 69 dB, PS4 70 dB. Maaan it's so hard to pick the universal touring set for weekend hairpins (from the city to the marina) and holiday cruises now :) It's so much easier to decide when one 'plays it dumb' and doesn't have that knowledge that you feed us with here :) The more you learn, the more difficult the choice is.
When I buy tires, your website is the first place I check. Thanks a lot for all your effort putting data behind your recommendations. I just wish similar website existed for motorcycle tires.
Well then, my purchase of the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 tyres can be justified. Amazing dry grip and handling (car feels like it's on rails over my previous Japanese tyres, yet to test it in the wet), also there is a significant increase in comfort when going over microbumps in the road as well as noise levels. Plus they are said to run forever, so basically ticking all my boxes when it comes to what I was looking for out of a tyre. Thanks for the review!
Wow, thanks so much for your in dept and diligence testing these. On my 2012 Mondeo diesel i had some old Kumho tires and just swapped for UniRoyal Rainsport 5, same dimensions as tested. We live in Ireland and have on average every 2nd day rain and i prefer comfort, rain handling and good value. Clear winner for me especially for your average comfort driver with some little nippiness here and there. Thanks again!
Put Primacy 4 on a 9th Gen Civic which needs all the help it can get in ride comfort on your recommendation and yes they are absolutely worth the money over budget, Great test long may they continue 👍.
Thank you for this reveiw and your time. I just purchased today the Continental Premium contact 6 and was looking for feedback on if I had purchased something good. I purchased 205/50/17. I was very happy driving home today from the shop and really enjoyed the ride. Now you confirmed they where a good purchase. Thank you. Subscribed and liked.
What a fantastic, informative video. I know it's incredibly difficult and time-consuming to conduct such a test, but I'd love to see a comparison between all-weather tyres.
I definitely agree with the findings of the Conti. I have been driving on Conti UltraContact 6 for about 2 years now. Their noise level and wear is about average. Maybe just a little higher average than cheaper offerings. Comfort is good actually for me. However, where I love it is dry and wet handling there's a good feedback and in wet, you don't feel nervy at all.
Falkens have always been a go-to for me. Never had a bad tyre from them personally. The only one I look upwards at from there are Yoko's, but not tested here. Would have been interested to see their position! Great video. Well produced. 😊👍
I learned so much about tyres from this channel and I am very thankful for that. I bought Nokian Wetproof tyres for my w211 3.2cdi since I got them with huge discount. Previously I had Hankook ventus prime tyres and I was pretty happy with them on dry surface but they were not very good on very rainy days.
With the Michelin and the Bridgestone maybe, just MAYBE, they felt so nice and comfy that made you less critical and not really pushing them in a lap. To me that's a nice road tyre. Just a hypothesis on my part. Currently I'm running the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 in 195/50R15 configurations. Felt really true on straight line. Gave me good feedback in corners but that wee bit of understeer, I also feel it.
Bro, I love your videos. I'm kind of a nerd and I love how you list all the data and how thorough your analysis are. I also really like that you take the time to section and order the whole video. Thanks a lot for the information and the good work!
This is the only place I go to for tyre knowledge. Unlike most channels and places that only use subjective feedback you actually use hard data to back things up, and numbers don’t lie 😊 Keep up the amazing work and look forward to more content as always!
@@tyrereviews I remember finding your channel when you did a collab with Alex from Carthrottle a while back. Maybe its time to do another with them or start another collab with Carwow to grow the audience and get your awesome work out even further :) There are far too many people who don't do any homework when it comes to tyres and just get the cheapest, and this rewards those companies to continue making poor tyres rather than stepping up their game to win more customers.
@@A2KLAU I'm actually in a car throttle video in a few weeks again, but not about tyres! I'd love to work with carwow, but so would most of RUclips so I'm probably well down their list :)
Jonathan Benson I’ll look forward to that! Is it your M3 again? And don’t say never, if they ever wanted to talk anything about tyres/grip/handling they should be turning to you and hopefully share the knowledge far and wide!
Большое спасибо за такой выдающийся тест! Который помог определиться с выбором между двумя шинами! Thank you so much for such an outstanding test! Which helped determine the choice between the two tires!
Thanks Jonathan for putting the effort in to this for us . Obviously some of us know how slight pressure changes dramatically effect tyre behaviour and feel, and the effect of ambient /surface temperatures . Great video.
Many thanks for your efforts. I've been running Contis on my last 2 cars and find them excellent in all areas bar noise and comfort (they're certainly not bad, but I do notice the noise, especially on poorer surfaces and the ride can be a bit harsh over rougher roads), so your findings match my experience. I'll definitely try a set of Goodyears when I need new ones.
This test is very good, amazing i could say. But in car tyres, there is another factor that is very important, and cannot be tested easily. Many years ago, i was searching for a good set of summer tires for my car. After reading a lot of tests, i was convinced to buy the new, that time, Michelin Pilot Exalto 2. Before that, i was wearing the Uniroyal Rainsport, i was very happy, but i thought I could try something else just for a change. I bought a set of 4 Michelin tires, and after using the tires under all conditions (dry, wet) i thought i had really made a good purchase. The tire had exceptional grip, just like in what i had read in the tests. For about one year, everything was fine. But AFTER about one year of use (about 20.000 km) the behaviour of the tyres had changed dramatically to the worst. The strange thing was that the thread depth had not been redused significantly, even at the front tires, and if you were touching the thread with your fingers, you could easily understand that the thread was still soft, and it has not been "hardened" like it happens in old tires. BUT this is what was happening: The tire behaviour had changed dramatically. You were starting from stop, full throttle, in dry roads, and the tire had almost no grip! It was spinning crazy, making an extremely loud screaming sound, leaving on the ground very visible black marks. You were cornering in dry roads, and the car was very easy to loose control!! In the wet? Let's better not talk about it. The same tire, that a few months ago, it was almost impossible to make it spin from a quick start with full throttle, and was giving you great sense of security. Only if you were driving many kilometres, the tire was "regaining" enough of his old, good traction, probably because it was getting warmer. The same tire, that a few months ago, had excellent grip even starting cold in the morning! The only logical explanation for me, is that the thread compound had been affected by the weather changes during the year, and had lost its properties. So, i returned again to Uniroyal Rainsport, that i keep them until the thread is worn out, and exept from the low depth in thread that affects aquaplaning resistance significantly, I don't see major changes in performance, as the time passes, especially in dry conditions. So, it would be very interesting to see a comparison of tyres after at least one year out in the steets, after they had been affected by all weather conditions (extremely heated streets, especially in hot summers in South Europe)
Good information, thank you. it's true some tyres are more affected by age / cold than others, and the Uniroyal is good in the cold compared to other summer tyres. I'd love to test it, but doing it properly is very difficult
Allseasons are pretty much useless Not too strong texture for summer (therefore noisy and bad fuel consumption), and not too soft texture for cold winter (therefore no traction, slippery and dangerous). There's no shortcut with tires. I don't even remember last time i've seen allseasons in a store, 'cause nobody is buying them. Except maybe single women, that can't be bothered with changing wheels..
Again a great video. I love your channel. My girlfriend's car has the Falken ZE310 ecorun. I was pretty impressed by this tires but I wasn't expecting them to be ranked so well.
Continental is always top performance and top range price as well, i mean like here in indonesia continental is not as cheap as bridgestone or goodyear or dunlop but the performance is also represented with the price
Waaaw what a review. thank you so much for this work. I usually suggest the Falken Ze310. Sometimes, it look like it's too cheep to be that good. But, he is a very good tyre. Thank you once again.
Great review as usual, been using Falken for the last 3 years with the Fk510 and now the AS210 and can honestly say that even without being a "premium brand" they are amazing at doing their job. Already had Bridgestone, Michelin and Dunlop fit into my cars, the Falken is cheaper than all of them and does not dissapoint at all. Glad to see them at the top!
It's funny because I never realized falken wasn't considered a premium tire. My wildpeaks were the best tire I've ever had, and never heard complaints for their road tires either. I thought Sumitomo was the budget tire. Had HTR Ziii on a car and they were incredible for peak grip
I have the goodyear eagle f1 asymetric 5 on my own car, 225/40/18 after i watched one of your video's. Amazing tyre!! The car from the company is a merc cla with 205/55/r16 tyre (michelin energy saver) difficult to change cars if it comes to handeling and wet performance 😅. But i don't like the michelin energy savers. I would go for the Goodyear's i think, but i heard the dunlop sport blueresponse should also be great, why it's not tested here?
Been using the Bridgestone Turzana T005 and I have to say I’m not disappointed, they have completely changed the handling and comfort, although they can occasionally be a little noisy at times on rougher roads, only got them because of this review since Goodyear and Michelin don’t do the primacy 4 and efficient grip performance 2 (195/55/15)
This is great to hear, thanks for posting. I was debating getting Michelin Primacy MXM4's, but they end up $500 more than the T005. It's close enough that I'm going with the T005.
I’m going to choose michelin primacy 4 (the original tyre it was toyo tranpath r30) for my mini van and very satisfied, very balanced tyre and good comfort and low noise. The tyre wall is nice too.
Cheap tyre but better in handling than a pzero nero gt it has more grip when you are already in a turn than the pirelli, it makes you want to go faster in that turn, a little soft will not last as a pzero and being that it is soft it has a little bit of mushiness with the sterring wheel at dead centre but overall it is a great tyre if you want to spend less money and the sidewall and contact pattern looks good. Wet handling and breaking are better that the pzero nero gt and gives you a nice feeling, you can tell when it will loose grip and you can correct pretty well. Tested in a fiat 500 195/45/16 with hard coilovers and 2 cm spacers
Great job! A few years ago I had some Uniroyal rain tires on a Daewoo Matiz and they felt great on very wet roads considering the car is very small and light. Now I drive a 2017 Kia Ceed SW with Hankook Kinergy Eco 2 tires on it and I am very pleased with them, I have pushed them a little at times and they performed without issues.
Hey all. I realise this much data is a lot to take in, and can only be told in one way. I've tried to be as open and honest as possible with how these tests are scored, but if you want more information I really suggest using the article on the website to make your own buying choice based on the data:
www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2020-Tyre-Reviews-Ultimate-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm
There's also loads of other tests on the Tyre Reviews website, and user reviews, so you can make the right choice for your own priorities based on multiple information sources :)
It's great info but I'm interested in how new tires are when they are worn 15 to 20000 miles. Brand new tires are mostly always pretty good
I think you have picked the wrong car for the test. I say that because there is so little difference between these tires. Perhaps in the future the heaviest and most powerful that uses that size...
@@dazaspc good point. Weight and power matter a lot. But if it's a test for European cars it's okay. This is a standard weight
I think you timed the video completely wrong.
It's the middle of summer, most people already bought summer tires if they needed them.
Now is the time for all-season or winter tyres. Or high-performance ones. Or some fun stuff.
Other than that, good video.
It's really hard to understand your voice. English isn't my leagngue and i have problem to hear what you actually speaking :/
This is a RIDICULOUS amount of work. The fact that you were able to condense it down so well is amazing.

Probably the most comprehensive and time consuming testing/experiment of all. Kudos to the team!

Thank you sir, and a great way of looking at the fact it was hosted by one of the companies in the test!
The more cynical way of thinking about it is that they might have a tyre better optimised for their test track.
Was going to write something similar. For most people I imagine performance tires aren't needed.
Also the Falken FK510/FK520 vs the Falken ZE310/ZE914

Like Falken, they are both in the Sumitomo family.
i had falken fk510 on a corsa very good in the wet, look good too, i would recommend them
Your having a laugh I've falkens on at moment on a skoda 1.0 tsi and they are down right dangerous in slippery conditions stay away from them, I'm changing next week to 4 e primacy,, Stay safe
I doubt that for great noise 😢😢😢

Bought the Goodyears based on this review (as they're £15 cheaper per tyre than the Contis on my car) and am really pleased with them. Much better than the Pirelli Cinturanos it was on before. Tt'll be interesting to see how they wear. Thanks for an excellent video!
Glad you like them, stick a review on the site sometime please :)
Now all we need is 10 worst car tires, test and review. That would be interesting.

It's amazing how many people haven't heard of Falken. They really are excellent tyres!
Your having a laugh! I replaced my tyres two weeks ago! I'm glad my choice was Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2, based on TUV test and my experience with the previous gen.
Thanks for your amazing work.
44kenz - good that you took the plunge as an early adopter. Always a bit uncertain when there are very few tests of a new tyre
Good choice! Make sure to leave a review when you have the time :)
I am stuck between Hankook k435 kinergy ECO 2 and Bridgestone Turanza. It really depends on if I have the money I would definitely get the Bridgestone's.
Александър Иванов Bridgestone over Hankook always.
Respect at you, the effort, and Goodyear for letting you use their test facility!
Thank you!
What a helpful test! So much work, glad you made it through that massive project!
I like and follow Tyre Reviews and I always look on your website when I make my purchase. I'd love to see such a deep comparison for SUV tires and I don't mean off-road tires. SUV's are some of the most often car type on the road now and I became fan of in the last years. Great job!
Definitely something I'm trying to do in the future :)
Well think about it, your car is an underpowered front wheel drive vehicle. How exactly did you believe you could make the rear ends lose grip?
What I love about your vids is how objective you are. Even when not the winner, you say what you felt. For example with michelin, even not the best of the best and pricey, I ended getting them and what I instantly felt is just what you told us here; if you look for comfort in your daily ride, they are the best, and for me that is the main thing as for all the km they will last in my everyday ride I want the best comfort!
Glad you're enjoying your selection :)
Thank you so much for such a thorough test and for testing things that aren't normally done well, like comfort and INTERNAL noise!

I have recently ordered a set of Goodyear tyres without seeing your review, which just confirmed the good choice. Thank you !

Your content is simply a tremendous joy to watch.
True expert. So much extremely useful information, as usual.
Thank you very much!
@@fredfinks Michelin seems great. Will choose between Michelin, Goodyear and Continental.
I crashed with Pirelli tyres on a wet road.....I'm not a fan either.....
It can be, but studies have shown crashing while aquaplaning is a very rare thing
@@tyrereviews As an Autobahn regular I can highly recommend tires with high aquaplaning resistance. Especially if you are moving at higher speeds.

Great comment, I'm glad I helped! If you ever get the time feel free to leave that review on www.tyrereviews.com, it would be really great there!

That's really kind, thank you! I still think Auto Bild and Sport Auto do a better job, but i'm learning as quickly as possible
(Peugeot Partner on 16inch)
The third one had those imperial ecodriver 4s on them.
Good information, if you get any time feel free to leave a review here :) www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Michelin/Primacy-4.htm
You are the best! The only serious tyre reviews! You are great my friend. Keep up your awesome work...
Thanks dude :)
As a data analyst and someone who is into cars, I really enjoyed this video. Well done!
Much appreciated!
Second set of Falkens. Very quite and good braking.
I've used Falkens for a good few years now. The ZE310 performs well above its price point imo. I'll probably get them again as im due now.
Great info! Got myself new Falken tyres after reading some and trying to compare the differences earlier this summer. Really pleased with them, good to know that I didn't mess up my research. Thanks for having a very informative yet entertaining channel!
Nice choice, feel free to leave a review on www.tyrereviews.com if you ever have the time :)
@@tyrereviews will do!
thanks for the great effort producing this informative content. this channel is underrated!
I appreciate that!
I hope to be testing in the US soon!
I'm very happy with 195/60 15 Avon ZT7 tyres as they have very good wet grip and ride quality and are competitively priced.
As comprehensive if not better than a good old fashioned print published article but with more personality.
Thanks for the review!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great to hear!
Great work and thanks to Goodyear for hosting this.
Hopefully we see Nexen in the next one...
lol
Put Primacy 4 on a 9th Gen Civic which needs all the help it can get in ride comfort on your recommendation and yes they are absolutely worth the money over budget, Great test long may they continue 👍.
I would have liked the Kenda Emera A1 to be used as a budget option since it got some pretty good reviews so far.
Glad I could help
What a fantastic, informative video. I know it's incredibly difficult and time-consuming to conduct such a test, but I'd love to see a comparison between all-weather tyres.
Coming next month!
Great news!
Glad you like them! If you ever get time it would be great if you could leave a review at www.tyrereviews.com/submit.htm 😊
Have you tried the Hankook v12 evo2? Imo they’re better than the prime 4 if you want a sportier tyre
Bro, I love your videos. I'm kind of a nerd and I love how you list all the data and how thorough your analysis are. I also really like that you take the time to section and order the whole video. Thanks a lot for the information and the good work!
I appreciate that fellow tyre nerd :D
After this test I'm sure I want Falken tires!
This is the only place I go to for tyre knowledge. Unlike most channels and places that only use subjective feedback you actually use hard data to back things up, and numbers don’t lie 😊 Keep up the amazing work and look forward to more content as always!
I appreciate that!
This was a really helpful review for a category that doesn't get much love
Большое спасибо за такой выдающийся тест! Который помог определиться с выбором между двумя шинами! Thank you so much for such an outstanding test! Which helped determine the choice between the two tires!
Thank you for the kind words :)
Wish Kumho tires was included.
Let me know how you find them when you make the switch!
Did you make the switch in the end ? Considering the Cont 6's for my C30 ~
Conti*
@@JedMcMullan No. Still plenty of life left in the Contis. They last pretty well.
I'd love to test it, but doing it properly is very difficult
waiting for allseasons tire test like this one!
Out next month :)
Tyre Reviews would you be able to compare against these tyres? Say top 3 all seasons vs top 3 every day tyres?
Tom , I am not sure it would make sense... it would make more sense to compare them agains top summer tire and top winter tires for reference
Tyre Reviews looking forward to all season test fingers crossed you can get the latest Michelin cross climates...
Falken is just a more affordable brand made by sumitomo. It’s a premium tire.
It's funny because I never realized falken wasn't considered a premium tire. My wildpeaks were the best tire I've ever had, and never heard complaints for their road tires either. I thought Sumitomo was the budget tire. Had HTR Ziii on a car and they were incredible for peak grip
I love knowing about tyres so much. Learned a lot in this video. Also really happy to have continental on my car 😁.
Nexen N'blue HD Plus 205/55/16 second year and still prefect
I went for the Falken. Very happy with them. Had them for over a year on the car and no problems
Assy 3 & 5 are bloody good tyres imho.
In the 16 go Goodyear not Dunlop, the Dunlop is the same as the EGP1
Been using the Bridgestone Turzana T005 and I have to say I’m not disappointed, they have completely changed the handling and comfort, although they can occasionally be a little noisy at times on rougher roads, only got them because of this review since Goodyear and Michelin don’t do the primacy 4 and efficient grip performance 2 (195/55/15)
This is great to hear, thanks for posting. I was debating getting Michelin Primacy MXM4's, but they end up $500 more than the T005. It's close enough that I'm going with the T005.
Respect for the solid review! ✅
Appreciate that
I’m going to choose michelin primacy 4 (the original tyre it was toyo tranpath r30) for my mini van and very satisfied, very balanced tyre and good comfort and low noise. The tyre wall is nice too.
I would like to see a review on Marshal MU12 .. it’s the most popular tire in my country (Saudi Arabia)... Thank you so much for your efforts 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Noted :)
Glad you're enjoying them, if you get time I'd love for you to leave a review on www.tyrereviews.com :)
I am SO glad Uniroyal has finally joined the pack, I always was curious how would it stack up against the usual suspects.
The rainsport 2 (symmetrical) was great in 15' in its day. The 3...I didn't like them so much
@@gorraksmashskull - I loved the Rainsport1, the groove pattern was mad!
@@spavatch Never tried them
