Great video once again, i have fitted the Bridgestone ps and is indeed a really fun tire and also extremely good in the rain, as for it's wear i have done 20.000 on them and the tread depth has come down to 5 mil from 6.5 when new. If your country has low grip roads it is not a problem
This is truly the most comprehensive tyre test out there. It really covers everything and it also gives you an honest opinion of what "flavor" each tyre is so you can choose the best one for yourself based on your preference. Cheers!
Always love your Tyre review's when the new generations arrive. In depth, informative and certainly trustworthy. I recently replace my GYE F1 Assy 5's and went for the GYE F1 Assy 6's and i love them. Been running GY's since Assy 2's, i'm happy to stay where i am with tyres. Thanks again for your time and effort in doing these reviews.
Really appreciate the wear testing, my mind was blown how well Dekra does those tests. This really gives the complete picture and impressive how good all these tyres are. As I have a habit of driving my cars on track, I will stick to my Yokohamas! Thanks a lot for the testing and the video!
Testing tyres in cool AND in worn conditions is an absolute game changer. These are real world metrics that are overlooked by every other tyre review i've seen.
Agree that the bridgestone potenza sport is just a monster. Everyone is slowing down in wet but I am keeping the speed. :) Dry traction is also perfect, I owned a 71R before and I can tell the dry traction is close to 71R. The only issue is longevity, yes it is wearing quite fast.... but I am enjoying the fun and safety so no big deal for me!
Awesome review as always! I hope you do the same for the UUHP tyres - SportContact 7, PS4, etc. I would be really curious to see how they stack up especially in terms of wear.
Bridgestone for me. I don't mind spending money on tires. Wet performance and wheel protection is what I need. If I change it every 20k road use, that complies my personal requirement. I also use s22's on my motorbike for 60k km(third pair). Got a good vibe with this brand overall.
As always, a good quality content. GoodYear is really making some excellent tires in the last few years with great balance of price vs performance and also one of the few companies to bring UUHP tires for "18/
Big props for shoving numbers to the back of the line in describing the pros and cons of these very different tires. I have driven two similar front engined Porsches for 40 years of my driving life. Obviously the models here were not even available for almost all of that time but, interestingly, the brands show a consistent affinity for behaviors over the years and even matching your current thoughts. It is true that you can like a brand when it comes to tires. I used Michelin, Goodyear, Continental, and Bridgestone on my cars over the years, eventually sticking with Michelin and your personal feelings about those four brands could have been my own. I’m not rich enough to use the unbelievably fast-wearing Bridgestone so that was a one-off. Contis were a one-off for me as well, no fun, fast wearing. Goodyear and Michelin were tried many times in the same category of high performance all weather. Goodyears were big fun driving hard and were affordable at the time. I probably used a half dozen sets or more and the ‘high ledge’ character remained for them all. They were also relatively quick to turn mean (rear happy) and I loved that. Goodyears were the only tire I used in anger on a track and I was blown away by their excellent behavior at the limit. I only switched because they were loud. Michelins gave me the best of all worlds. Very high & controllable grip, great water shedding, quiet and long lasting. Thanks so much for all the time and care you put into this.
Thanks a lot for another great review! And thanks for adding the rim protection comparison, it's very interesting! 👍🏻 Also interesting to see the different physical diameter of the tyres, especially with Yokohama and Bridgestone next to the Hankook, what a massive difference!
@@desmondgasper not really. The physical dimensions of the tyres are different, including the width. But seeing such difference side by side is interesting.
There's an allowable window in each size tyre companies can use, some like to go narrow to put less material in the tyre, some like to go wide for grip reasons.
I did buy the Assymetric 5's based on the Tyre Reviews videos a few years back .They have been amazing. Civilized on the road, wet and dry. I also use them on cold, wet, winter track days. They perform great and don't overheat and fall to pieces when the track drys out. My next tyres will be the Assynetric 6's
I liked the investment you made in Dekra tyre longevity testing. It changes your review from being a point in time comparison into an ownership over time assessment. Thanks
Had Asymmetric 5, last summer got Asymmetric 6 on Octavia VRS, and I am super satisfied. Great tire Excellent handling Sometimes i got surprised how much grip tire provides in a corner I would highly recommend, plus price for what you get is 👌
Im a Yokohama man. I have always had them on my vehicle as they have the best steering response and handling ability. The wet performance has also been outstanding too on the road. Using a tyre with less steering response and turn in would feel like a downgrade.
Your reviews are amazing! Just got 215/45/17 bridgestone potenza sports for my alfa romeo mito based on your reviews. They completely changed the car. Loving it!
Once again tyrereviews comes along with the fully comprehensive SIX-WAY shootout! Another fantastic review. Really appreciate it, this will come in very useful. 👍 I already have PS5 on the front with PS4s still on the rear, and the PS5 are an improvement in both cold/winter and summer conditions, so the higher-scoring tyres must be _really_ good for UHP/summer use.
I checked out a few tire review's and decided to get Premium Contact 7. So going from a cheep Chinese tyre (also totally worn out) to PC 7 was like I've got a new car. The difference is monumental. The corner handling, stability on the road and comfort went from 0 to 100. Such a pleasure to drive the car now. Hard to describe with words. But the importance of the right tyre on the car is simply a thing I didn't pay too much attention on before (winter tyre's only). Thank's for the excellent content on your channel.
I've learned that a used tire is done with/at 50% tread remains. Or 5/32 inch remaining. You can run winter tires down to 3/32 inch. But they will hydroplane in the rain. I use winter tire Continental contiwintercontact TS830p or all season: Bridgestone As Potenza RE980 plus+ all season or Michelin Premier all season - 2008 ford sedan
Great job really in depth review I'm glad I opted for the Conti 7 based on your review. Saved my bacon the other day in the pissing rain when I had to do an unwanted moose test due to some numpty.
Very good video and even a greater test. Very clear where the differences within these tyres are. Finally the Yokohama in the test. I would be great if you would test semi slicks also test the new Yokohama AD09.
My AD09's are on it's way. came from the V107 and I was amazed by it's performance on track and dry grip on a high powered rwd vehicle. Cannot wait to test the AD09
@@tyrereviews that would be great. If possible, do it on a light weight car and a more heavy car. Tyres are totally different under load. I now have the Federal 595 RS-Pro at my 4C. Incredible semi slicks for their money, but I have no weight. I dont know if their are as good if you add 500kg for example. Love your channel. Keep it up!
another excellent video. I have been following your reviews via your website back when I was researching Goodyear F1 asymmetric 2. Over the years I have purchased many sets of tires for different cars I run and I never have I been disappointed by your recommendations. Your very comprehensive reviews helped me make the right tire choices for the different cars i run. love this channel.
Jon & team just knock it out of the park every time! I hope there's a similar forthcoming test for the North American all season version of these tires.
I had a Yokohama Advan Neova on my '98 Civic EK many moons ago and loved that tire. Super grippy in the dry. Happy to see that my choice back then is still one of the best tires in this regard over a decade later.
Thanks for the excellent test. And please keep the rim protection issue also your future test. I had new winter tyres without and I had not checked if there were protectors and scratched my 19” alloys at first parking. So little thing but saves money. 😂
A thought for this channel, Long term test data for all higher performance tyres is something I'm sure everyone can agree on we really need. Got assymetric 6's on a Leon 140 FR last April, Barely 8000 miles covered and only realised the other day my fronts are nearly done, couldn't believe it. Coming from running lesser cars on lesser brands of tyres for years (shout out to toyo's T1R, a great one for the money but sadly no longer in production) and so expected a jump to a high quality brand would likely bring better tyre longevity in addition to the tangible performance benefits but I was sorely mistaken, I could get 10 to 12k out of front tyres on a sporty little mk4 ibiza with way less power so I'm gutted at the prospect of maybe changing the fronts for new as I'm not sure how much more life I can get from the front pair if I swapped them with the back pair.
Jonathan, this test is unprecedented. Thank you! Simply brilliant! One thing only: when you were showing the tires and the tread at the end I was missing the brands. Sorry! Just send the hitmen! 😂 Bravo, you are the best! 👏👏👏
I can't imagine all this equipment, time and testing makes any of this even remotely profitable from RUclips ads alone. I do hope this channel continues to gain umm... Traction? As it definitely deserves it.
I have used Bridgestone and BF Goodrich on my trucks and cars for the last 40 yrs. Tried Continental tires on my SUV and could not be happier. The run good, quiet and great in the rain.
I wanted Potenza Sport but there was no size for my car and I bought the Asimetric 6. They are very good on wet but on dry they are not that grippy. The hard side wall is great tho because the steering is direct. Overall it's a great tire.
I just had two Continental Premium Contact 7 fitted to my car, based on various tests, especially with regards to wet and dry braking. So far I'm very happy with them and it's great to see your very comprehensive test confirm my opinion.
Thanks for the test, really thorough…. I’ve actually just replaced my Conti sport contacts for PS5s on one of my Abarths on 17 inch wheels. The reason being that the Contis were amazing for the first 6 months I owned them then they just got harder and harder as time went by. I’ve never had that with Michelins which I’ve always had on my Porsches, but never tried on the wee Abarth. Glad you said they are all decent so see how the PS5s go (unfortunately they don’t do a 4S in the size I need)
I had the same problem. I run 17 inch alloys and the PS4s isn't available. I wanted to stay with PS4, but they're now replaced with the PS5. I will see how i get on!
17:55 sadly, I can confirm that the rim protection on Michelin PS5 is bad. I did curb my nice wheels. My fault - but still sad to see rim protection didn't literally do anything. Other than that, after driving them for 1 full season, including a track day - I agree with the test results. The tyre is just brilliantly balanced in all summer conditions + looks amazing! :) Thanks John, brilliant test!
Love the detail and content of your channel, thanks. This video landed on the day my new set of Goodyear Asymmetric 6's arrived - so equally pleased to see that you haven't changed your mind on them and look forward to getting them on the car.
Amazing stuff as always Jonathan! Much appreciated 🙏🏼 I chose the Asymmetric 6 as my tire of choice because it is the best value for money in my home country.
The Goodyear Assymetric 6 is one of the best tires I have ever tested , I in fact bought them 2 times for the same car and the grip was better than the PS4s (225/40/18) BUT!!! The first test only lasted 6k kms and the second one only 8k kms I don’t think I will buy them again sadly The car is an SLK R171 with 220/40/18 and 245/35/18
I had my Carrera T delivered on Asymmetric tires (yeah, no PZero or PS4S...booooo), but after driving a few hundred km on them (threading lightly, as the car/engine needs a proper run in), I am quite pleased with their performance. If I had to compare them to something form my past experience...I would say they remind me of the Pilot Super Sport, a lot. Just that the Goodyear are a little better in the rain and even quieter. Just a suggestion: if you ever have the opportunity, a "comparison test" between the PZero, Asymmetric and PS4S on a 992 would bring down the internet. The interest is huge regarding this.
For road tire's wet is still by far the #1 priority for me. Most of the US has regular rain 🌧️ You don't want to be caught out in a flash flood 🌊 or torrential rain. 🌧️⛈️🌧️ Our East Coast is just like the UK, maybe a bit worse in unpredictability and snow.
I drove about 2 years on goodyear supersports and one year on asymetric6 on 2 differentcars, if you have problems in the rain is not because of the tyres
@@superbecx Try that in 35-40° weather plz 😆 go ahead man. You'll be on skates lol 😂 I drive +100k miles per year all year round. Summer tire's wouldn't last me more than 3mo. Before you claim it's someone's driver skill please ask questions first. You gonna drive in freezing rain with those? Through high tide areas? Over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in November? Tires have a purpose, just because you want to be a fool in the wrong weather doesn't mean I will. I see driver's like you in ditches every year, sometimes 7x per night. We scrap y'all off the road yearly 🤷🏾♂️ When you drive 10x the avg. person you don't do stupid stuff tryna prove a point.
Also wanted to thank you! I had to look for summer tires for my sportscar and had serious trouble deciding on alternatives to the incredibly expensive Michelin PilotSport. Thanks to you I found what I was looking for. Keep at it!
Im glad seeing the wear data. My customer came saying their Conti Sport Contact wear out so quick on GLA45 . I don't know how to respond. But now i know its because of their tire category
I would absolutely love it if you could review track tyres (i.e. semi slicks) in small sizes. I run 225/40/R18 and there's honestly not a lot of choice out there, but I know there's the newer Bridgestone Potenza Race and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect that seem to come in the smaller sizes, as well as the Yokohama Advan AD08RS. Most people I know run Toyo R888Rs or Nankang AR-1s, but surely there must be better options than those!
Some friends of mine run the federal rs-pro, but reviews of it are kinda mixed. But they offer smaller sizes. Depending on where you live the nitto nt01 could also be a consideration. But I agree, a test would be really nice, especially as so many mixed reviews of more of an subjective kind are out there.
Stay away from the AD08RS. New AD09 is way better. Ad08rs was made because of eu-noise regulations so they changed the sticky compound to a tyre squeeling one that does not offer the grip like the OG AD08R
@@clubsportf56s48 That's the thing, the AD09 isn't available in the tyre size I need, whereas the AD08RS is (hence the test suggestion). It doesn't help that I'm further restricted by the motorsport regulations I have to follow but for most people that won't be an issue.
The Continental Premium Contact 7 stops notably quickest in the wet and is way better than average in every other way. For UK roads, this is the clear choice for me.
Would love to see Nokians, especially the z-line as, in these summer tests. There is almost no testing published on them. I happen to think they deliver excellent value but can’t help but wonder how much ultimate performance they give up.
I put Dunlop sport maxx on our Volvo XC70. I do mixed driving of city, few country roads and many motorways including in Europe. Dunlops were handling brilliantly but since it’s such a soft tyre it only lasted for 6k miles. After that I changed to Continental SC6 and very happy with them. So far have done 20k miles with plenty of thread still left on them. At the time both tyres were sama price at £155 per tyre(18 inch XL/SUV rated).
Stop being sorry - this was a great test. Thank you! I just ordered a set of TS870 after having seen your review (and read more online). Right now they were 30 bucks cheaper than the LM005 so it was worth the change.

Thank you for once again such a perfect test! And please - we need some video about tire pressures an how it affect oversteer, understeer, overall handling, lap times, braking, etc., i.e. 1.8 Bar, V.S. 2 Bar, v.s. 2.2 Bar, v.s. 2.4 Bar, v.s. 2.6 Bar, v.s. 2.8 Bar, etc. Thanks! ♥
Great video once again, i have fitted the Bridgestone ps and is indeed a really fun tire and also extremely good in the rain, as for it's wear i have done 20.000 on them and the tread depth has come down to 5 mil from 6.5 when new. If your country has low grip roads it is not a problem
What car do you have them on?
This is truly the most comprehensive tyre test out there. It really covers everything and it also gives you an honest opinion of what "flavor" each tyre is so you can choose the best one for yourself based on your preference. Cheers!
Love the Hankooks! Great grip on BMW G11, both wet and dry. Also the comfiest tires ever had on the car.
No apologies needed. As usual an excellent and objective analysis.
Glad you're liking the goodyears :)
Hey mate what do you think about the durability ? Does GY perform good after a long term use ?
Really appreciate the wear testing, my mind was blown how well Dekra does those tests. This really gives the complete picture and impressive how good all these tyres are. As I have a habit of driving my cars on track, I will stick to my Yokohamas! Thanks a lot for the testing and the video!
Testing tyres in cool AND in worn conditions is an absolute game changer. These are real world metrics that are overlooked by every other tyre review i've seen.
Agree that the bridgestone potenza sport is just a monster. Everyone is slowing down in wet but I am keeping the speed. :)
Dry traction is also perfect, I owned a 71R before and I can tell the dry traction is close to 71R.
The only issue is longevity, yes it is wearing quite fast.... but I am enjoying the fun and safety so no big deal for me!
Glad you're liking them :)
Bridgestone are one of my favourites very good tyres
I've got Goodyear A6 255/35R18,and I am very happy 💪
Awesome review as always! I hope you do the same for the UUHP tyres - SportContact 7, PS4, etc. I would be really curious to see how they stack up especially in terms of wear.
Bridgestone for me. I don't mind spending money on tires. Wet performance and wheel protection is what I need. If I change it every 20k road use, that complies my personal requirement. I also use s22's on my motorbike for 60k km(third pair). Got a good vibe with this brand overall.
It's a great tyre!
As always, a good quality content. GoodYear is really making some excellent tires in the last few years with great balance of price vs performance and also one of the few companies to bring UUHP tires for "18/
they were doing it in the mid late 90's with eagle GSCs and eagle F1 with the ability to run on flat back i n1998
Also interesting to see the different physical diameter of the tyres, especially with Yokohama and Bridgestone next to the Hankook, what a massive difference!
it might be that they're stiffer tires compared to the others - which makes them sag less when standing upright? Maybe :D
@@desmondgasper not really. The physical dimensions of the tyres are different, including the width. But seeing such difference side by side is interesting.
There's an allowable window in each size tyre companies can use, some like to go narrow to put less material in the tyre, some like to go wide for grip reasons.
Good year maxlife the best for sedan segment //thank you for helping us to choose the best tires ..greetings from New York 🇺🇸
Ive read that the only negative of asy6 compared to asy5 is that they cant handle heat as good as the 5, never tested so i dont know.
I liked the investment you made in Dekra tyre longevity testing. It changes your review from being a point in time comparison into an ownership over time assessment. Thanks
Had Asymmetric 5, last summer got Asymmetric 6 on Octavia VRS, and I am super satisfied.
Great tire
Excellent handling
Sometimes i got surprised how much grip tire provides in a corner
I would highly recommend, plus price for what you get is 👌
Im a Yokohama man.
Loving it!
I drive Bridgestone Potenza 225/40/18 in my Alfa Romeo GT and am delighted with them, both in the dry and in the wet.
I went for PILOT SPORT 5 on mine! Hey there fellow Alfa owners!
Insanely detailed review! I bought the Assy 6s based on last years Summer review and super glad I did!
Glad you're enjoying them :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ps4s should be much more sporty than 5.
We live for this kind of videos !!! Keep it up !!!
I really want to rerun a semi slick test :)
My AD09's are on it's way. came from the V107 and I was amazed by it's performance on track and dry grip on a high powered rwd vehicle. Cannot wait to test the AD09
@@tyrereviews Yoko A052 are great tires too!
Yes, interested to see the front left of all tyres!
I'll post something on insta tomorrow or wed!
wow, even real world tyre wear... huge step up. Thanks for everything
Jon & team just knock it out of the park every time! I hope there's a similar forthcoming test for the North American all season version of these tires.
Missing the Falken Azenis KF520's , really loved the FK510's cant wait to see a review on the FK520's !
I'm runnin the Michelin on the Golf Mk7.5 and i'm 90% happy with it!👌🏼
What's the 10%?
@@tyrereviews Hm, steering feedback, sportyness?!
It's on my "must do" list when testing larger sizes :
What an effort this guy puts in. Thank you Sir!
Particle testing is super interesting!
It's going to only get bigger!
Great test, thank you!
Thank you. It's wednesday my dude.
A thought for this channel,
Long term test data for all higher performance tyres is something I'm sure everyone can agree on we really need.
Got assymetric 6's on a Leon 140 FR last April,
Barely 8000 miles covered and only realised the other day my fronts are nearly done, couldn't believe it.
Bravo, you are the best! 👏👏👏
I can't imagine all this equipment, time and testing makes any of this even remotely profitable from RUclips ads alone. I do hope this channel continues to gain umm... Traction? As it definitely deserves it.
I do love a tyre pun :)
I have used Bridgestone and BF Goodrich on my trucks and cars for the last 40 yrs. Tried Continental tires on my SUV and could not be happier. The run good, quiet and great in the rain.
great content!!! I always choose my tires following your test results!
You are the best tyre reviewer. Thank you 🙏🏻
I wanted Potenza Sport but there was no size for my car and I bought the Asimetric 6. They are very good on wet but on dry they are not that grippy.
The hard side wall is great tho because the steering is direct.
Overall it's a great tire.
The timing on this could not be better. I've just taken delivery of a new car and been trying to work out which tires to get. Thank you!
I just had two Continental Premium Contact 7 fitted to my car, based on various tests, especially with regards to wet and dry braking.
So far I'm very happy with them and it's great to see your very comprehensive test confirm my opinion.
Truly the BEST tyre content on youtube bar NONE!
Thank you!
Thank you for the best tire reviews in the Internet!
I'll always take that extra 10bhp from the side wall print
If you believe something will happen it will happen
Great review! Thank you. I am a huge Yokohama fan - happy to find you enjoy the V107. My favourites are the Advan Fleva and the Advan Apex. Cheers.
Thanks John, brilliant test!
RIP wheel :(
@@tyrereviews I hand peeped them and they have 18 spokes each wheel lol
Love the detail and content of your channel, thanks. This video landed on the day my new set of Goodyear Asymmetric 6's arrived - so equally pleased to see that you haven't changed your mind on them and look forward to getting them on the car.
Let me know how you like them
@itiejim so, how are they?
@rokdovecar5275 They're great. No complaints at all and I would buy the same again.
Amazing stuff as always Jonathan! Much appreciated 🙏🏼
I chose the Asymmetric 6 as my tire of choice because it is the best value for money in my home country.
The. Best. Tyre. Review. EVER!
:D
we dont need more b roll dont apologise for it we come here for the facts and then your opinion and stay because we value it!
You make the best tests ever. Rim protection comparison 🤩. It should be in every tire description. Thank You :)
The Goodyear Assymetric 6 is one of the best tires I have ever tested , I in fact bought them 2 times for the same car and the grip was better than the PS4s (225/40/18)
BUT!!! The first test only lasted 6k kms and the second one only 8k kms
I don’t think I will buy them again sadly
The car is an SLK R171 with 220/40/18 and 245/35/18
Wow, most people have much better wear from the Asym 6. Do you like to drive very hard?!
@@tyrereviews Yeah but mostly hard street driving/ cornering , not doing donuts / drifting or track driving
I think you need to compare with other tires under same condition. I have killed four sets of F1SS(225/40/18) after only 3.5k km averagely.
Your reviews are so thorough, cheers mate!
thanks!
Currently I have the Yokohama v105 under my Ford Focus RS mk2 and will (also after this review) go again for the Yokohama tires again.
Pilot Sport 5 results leave me even more excited for forthcoming S5.
Me too!
Cheers for all the reviews, always appreciated!
For road tire's wet is still by far the #1 priority for me. Most of the US has regular rain 🌧️
You don't want to be caught out in a flash flood 🌊 or torrential rain.
We scrap y'all off the road yearly 🤷🏾♂️
When you drive 10x the avg. person you don't do stupid stuff tryna prove a point.
Also wanted to thank you! I had to look for summer tires for my sportscar and had serious trouble deciding on alternatives to the incredibly expensive Michelin PilotSport.
Thanks to you I found what I was looking for.
Keep at it!
had the asymetric 6 and the v107 both great tyres. goodyear better in the wet and yoko huge amount of fun in the dry
Glad we found the same things :)
For everyday driving in different conditions and price GY F1 Assym 6 is the best.
@@danpan6420 i agree
Im glad seeing the wear data. My customer came saying their Conti Sport Contact wear out so quick on GLA45 . I don't know how to respond. But now i know its because of their tire category
Only lasted 12k miles for me on the front. Conti sport contact 5, the rears are at 38k now and need replacing though.
It would be interesting to see the projected longevity of all Season tyres
There's a few tests with road wear on www.tyrereviews.com, they should be pretty similar distances
Thank you for this test. The best I have ever watched. Now I understand the tires much better.
The best tw200 - a052 and it has 225/40R18 92Y size. Also check nankang cr-s. Good luck 🤪
@@HalfLeftToby Go for the Sportcontact 7 and never look back. It's in 225/40/18
The Continental Premium Contact 7 stops notably quickest in the wet and is way better than average in every other way. For UK roads, this is the clear choice for me.
I think the Goodyear would be the one for me
for me too
Chapeau bas! What a Great Value of a film!!! Gigantic work! Thank you!
Would love to see Nokians, especially the z-line as, in these summer tests. There is almost no testing published on them. I happen to think they deliver excellent value but can’t help but wonder how much ultimate performance they give up.
The timing couldn't have been more perfect! I need tires for my Jetta
