She's obviously trying to make him like her more in chess, so that he doesn't play with you. I think. She definitely has a plan in chess that she can't tell you about. So, i recommend waiting to see how long she keeps this up, and genuinely teaching your son
I just think he should let his son win once in a while. Since his wife didn’t keep the promise so why would he and his son is sad that he can’t win. I feel like he is the real villain unintentionally and the hero at the end. His wife was left out. He just wouldn’t let his son win and that’s jut plain wrong and actually stupid. I thought that was common sense. I was clearly wrong. He should JUST LET HIS SON WIN FOR ONCE.

I got it...the wife is 4D chess playing her husband the OP. She's saying, you OP play him at full strength (because you suck) while I will say I will but won't. This will do two things: one, keep the kid playing since no normal kid likes to be beat up and two, guess who the son will grow up to favor? Edit: yup, at the 15 min mark...
