    SUMMARY:
    In the last couple years android stock app started allowing using the full manual control over the phone cameras including 30 seconds long exposure feature. Besides that it allows you to get the RAW DNG IMAGE format of the image without making any post processing.
    Being able to get RAW image is crucially important for Astrophotography because RAW format captures more data, higher color bit rate, higher dynamic range and better details. Capturing RAW reveals lots of noise in the image but that is completely normal. Even with the regular color cameras like dslr or mirrorless cameras you will have high noise rate when you capture in RAW format unless you have a dedicated astro camera.
    IPHONE
    You can also get decent Milky Way shots with Iphone's Night Mode but it won't be as successful as Galaxy Phones because of the lack of the full control of "ISO" ,"APERTURE", "SHUTTER SPEED", "MANUAL FOCUS".
    You're more than welcome to ask in the comment section, if you have any specific questions about this process.

      Wide angle lenses give you more time than zoom lenses for long exposure before stars are trailing. There is a calculation for this actually works pretty simple. It is called "500 Rule." 500÷FOCAL LENGHT. For example, if using a 16 mm lens on a full-frame camera, the calculation would be 500÷16 = 31.25 seconds. If you are using a 200mm lens, it will be 500÷200mm= 2.5 seconds. I hope it makes sense.

      I included some links in the description about how to check light pollution in your area, also you have to avoid the Moon. You can find a link in the description to check Moon phases and visibility. Another thing, download the free app "Stellarium" to find targets including the Milkyway. On the other hand, Milkyway is only visible April to September if you live in the Northern Hemisphere.

    • @kitchenraw

      Yes, it works. The key is going to a place bortle 4 at least, avoiding the moon avoiding any light source around you and checking the planetarium app to locate the milkyway. Check your area's light pollution level from www.lightpollutionmap.info. You will thank me later :)

    How do u set the interval on intervalometer that matches the 30 seconds shutter speed?

    • @kitchenraw
      @kitchenraw  5 месяцев назад

      I set 30-second long exposure from the camera. Every time the shot ends, the interval app presses the button again automatically. But you can also set specific timing in the interval app right next to the timer button.

    • @kitchenraw
      @kitchenraw  Год назад +4

      I don't remember the exact time, but I left the phone outside for a few hours. I took somewhere near 800 captures. If you put your captures into a 24fps timeline, it will give you 30 seconds of a video. You can extend this time if you play in a 12fps timeline instead of 24fps.

    • @kitchenraw
      @kitchenraw  Год назад

      I fast forwarded them bc this specific light room color grading won't work on other images. Every Milkyway picture is different depending on the light pollution, surrounding lights, and your capture settings. All I do was sharpen the image, reduce noise, and increase the saturation. I spent some extra editing time over the horizon bc there was a green glow caused by a city near by.

      Normalmente, cada quadro precisa ser exposto por pelo menos 20 segundos com um alto nível ISO para poder capturar o Milkyway Arm escuro. Não tenho certeza, mas você pode experimentar o aplicativo Câmera e escolher Hyperlapse 300x que pode funcionar. Mas o mais importante é estar numa área isolada da poluição luminosa da cidade e escolher um dia sem lua. Boa sorte!

      I am glad you were able to capture it! Milkyway is actually an easy target to capture even with a 15 years old cameras. And most of the phone cameras lately can capture it. The key is finding a dark rural area far away from cities and avoiding the Moon. Moon creates light pollution, too. Milkyway is even visible to naked eye if you are in a really dark area.

      You need to be in a dark place to avoid light pollution. Moon also creates light pollution. You have to avoid Moon and avoid Cities. On the other hand, Milkyway is only visible between March to October. Download a planetarium app to your phone to see what is in the sky.
