I am lucky enough to live in New Zealand and used to somewhat take it for granted until I found out that the main reason for Asian tourists was so they could see the night sky. Satellite images of the Earth at night are crazy! I have been night kayaking on lakes away from development and the stars are reflecting in the still water. With a bit of imagination it is like paddling thru a galaxy! It should probably be noted that we humans generally see the night sky in black and white, not the colour a digital camera captures. Video tech not there yet so nice to have a 'unique' experience.
Totally agree, I find 10x to be near optically perfect (incredible for a mobile phone) and the extra 3x digital cropping/processing to get to 30x is entirely acceptable, to the point where its equivalent to digital cropping the 10x image off-camera. But I wouldn't say the same between 30x and 100x. It is, as you rightly say, a fad, but fun for instantly sharing with friends, although it's worth spending 10 seconds cropping the 30x using the phone's crop tool if you're not in a hurry. Phone technologies is amazing! I was blown away of him zooming on that moon,I'm like no way! I tried with old phone and you get a red blurr of the moon.But this S21Ultra is like having a telescope.Wow! Makes me want to get me a newer phone like the one he's using.
I've taken a moon picture with 100x zoom and it was pretty good considering. I've had some pretty detailed moon pictures between 30-60 zoom on the s21 ultra. One now got the s22 ultra and just taken a picture of the starry night in England 😊
Hey legend last night I tried 100x zoom on fill moon and got pretty good results which I was surprised I got. All I did hit 30x then 50x then focused it then 100x times zoom. I locked focus and got rather nice shots. 30x zoom is good too. I'm surprised how 100x zoom turned out. I'll edit them soon from my s21 ultra. It's great how your getting all these shots and I'm learning from you. Milky way shot wow that looks amazing. I'm going to try that as that looks awesome. Milky way shot was taken with s21 ultra? Zoom feature on phones will get better and better in next few years. I'm looking forward to when you get Huawei p50pro and test it under clear dark skies to see how great it is! Oh I can do it handheld too, I generally use the tripod as much as I can in these videos because Im dealing with torches, lights and the video camera. It does generally take a bit of time to focus though.
@@ShayneMostyn i have the s20 Ultra and I had the same issues sometimes not focusing on the moon, but you need to enable the scene optimizer on the camera settings, then the phone will recognize its the moon and it will focus completely fine, the scene optimizer is the thing on the top right corner that kooks like a flower or something, try that!

Hey I've been trying to use the double exposure function for basically the same purpose and for some reason when it's loading the overlapping picture the blue loading wheel stays on screen and won't complete therefore not letting me press the tick and move on. Has anyone else had this problem? anyone have a solution?
I find this can take a long time when dealing with RAW files. Sometimes it just never gets there. So I edit the photos individually and export the JPEGs and then try the double exposure. It seems to work.

The auto-focus/light fix/tracking on my s21 are SOOOOKOOOOOO! much worse than my s9. I can no longer take multiple 900fpm shots in the same video (it stops the video after one). Before. I could show all 6 shots from my revolver, and you could see the bullet in every shot. Not, I accidentally trip it and have to start the camera from scratch. @samsung You had it before. I appreciate the optical zoom, but why did you intentionally make the software worse?

I managed to photograph the moon on my s21 ultra. Difficult without a tripod and i used about 49.8x zoom. Like you said pulling that back a bit and using a larger iso setting will improve that. Great tips.
Man ive always wanted to know how people actually take such good photos of the milky way lol thanks for these awesome tips you definitely help me, but I was wondering if you could do a more in-depth video, on how you really capture those cool lighting pictures and how to improve my photography skills, because I can never capture the stars at night as it just ends up looking black.
I know this is a galaxy s21 ultra, but I have the non ultra, and my photos of sunsets have difficulty capturing purple and pinks. What is going on, and is there a way to change the issue? Like, I only seem to get orange and blues with some slight purple, but none of the actual purple to pinks.
The issue is it's trying to fight shaking so much that it's fighting you on getting it in the middle. it keeps wanting to lock in so it wont let you move.
If I traded it in my phone for an S23 Ultra could I do the same thing that you're doing with the S21 Ultra? I was leaning more toward an iPhone but you're proving that I could do this with a Samsung? Great video.

Got this phone a few days ago and astonished by the quality everything zoom wise up to 30x is usable and it looks great the 100x zoom really seems to have too much aberration I think is the word I'm looking for. Phenomenal phone for photography though I still haven't discovered all the things it can do. Can u recommend any settings or apps that can help with removing low light grain or any other issues that occur when shooting in low light?

I accidentally captured two UFOs with my Huawei p40 lite e but I upgraded my phone to the Samsung galaxy s21 ultra 5g and sent the pictures to my Samsung and I was able to use the zoom to look closer at both UFOs and again I accidentally captured the two so how fast would they have been travelling

Wow I have no issue doing this handheld. I have the snapdragon version and it's very reliable focusing on the moon.

That photo is edited with Lightroom. You can do this even with the free version of lightroom. Thanks mate.

Really depends on your environment. Im a Mac person, so I use the iPhone. Both are great phones.

There is an app called intervalometer. Thats the one you want. I have done a video about it in the past.

Of course mate. But I find lightroom to be much better for editing astro shots.

I cant win mate. When I go slow and methodical (Ive done quite a few videos like that) people complain about how slow I go. When I go faster....

No I dont use one mate. You can get them. But I dont use one. You can just use a 3 second timer if you need one.
when i toggle manual focus I see 0.0 to 1.0...which one is infinite? the 1 or the 0?
All the way is infinite. I have found that some phones will need to back it off a notch to get good focus. I would try both mate.

Got this phone a few days ago and astonished by the quality everything zoom wise up to 30x is usable and it looks great the 100x zoom really seems to have too much aberration I think is the word I'm looking for.
Phenomenal phone for photography though I still haven't discovered all the things it can do.
Can u recommend any settings or apps that can help with removing low light grain or any other issues that occur when shooting in low light?
Cheers mate. Definitely Lightroom. The luminance slider does the job very well.
So this isn't even using night mode? Just standard 'photo' mode?
Which part mate? I use regular photo mode and pro mode in this video

assumed people were using night mode? I take it just using standard photo mode was better though because you clearly know your stuff 👌🏼

I accidentally captured two UFOs with my Huawei p40 lite e but I upgraded my phone to the Samsung galaxy s21 ultra 5g and sent the pictures to my Samsung and I was able to use the zoom to look closer at both UFOs and again I accidentally captured the two so how fast would they have been travelling
