Martin weaves into the GOT ideology. This is what takes GOT to the next level.
At the start of the show, everyone sort of just takes Neds word for it about Jamie’s actions. We channel his contempt for Jamie for killing the king. When in reality, it’s what Robert was going to do. And likely what Ned wanted. Ned was so blinded by his own sense of honor that he didn’t stop to think of why Jamie might have decided to kill Aerys. Literally Ned asking “why did you kill him?” And listening to Jamie’s explanation could have saved the realm so much struggle.
Roose Bolton is one of Robb’s bannerman, we have seen him consulting Robb several times, and Locke (the guy who cut off Jaime’s hand) is one of his lieutenants. A reminder that though we love Robb and are rooting for him, not all of his soldiers are “good guys.”
The marriage discussion scene is one of my favorites because of many reasons but Cersei desperately pleading not to be treated as a broodmare is kinda heartbreaking knowing her history.
Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Lena Heady are beasts. The way the exude unbridled narcissism and elitism as the Lannister children interacting with all the other characters, then turn themselves into brow beaten 40+ year old 5th graders in the face of Charles Dance's Tywin is magnificent.
Jamie didn't want to take milk of the poppy because there was a good chance he would never wake up again. He would rather stay awake and bear the pain.
Jamie's story in this episode really drives home (if it wasn't particularly evident before this) the complexity of so many of the characters, especially the mains. Very few are basic cardboard cutouts of what you first see. This is also one of the reasons characters like Jamie and The Hound are some of my favorites in the series.
"I don't like this Lord of Light religion" Yeah neither does most of Westeros. In fairness we get exposed to it mainly through Melisandre(who is Big Evil) and Thoros(who's faith was lapsed until recently) so maybe we're not getting the best picture of it. All the religions depicted in Game of Thrones have horrible people attached to them but I'd say the Old Gods come out looking the best since they're heavily associated with the Starks who are most of our protagonists.
This seemed to be "the bathing episode". I did miss the cave scene with the couple John and Ygritte with that memorable line "You know nothing John Sno ....ohw" !

Isn't Shireen Baratheon so precious. GOT really puts the purest soul with the despicable kin to look over them. Jon snow and Catelyn Stark, then it continued with Sam and his father (Randyll Tarly) and now we meet Shireen, her mother and her brothers. What a picture perfect family dynamic. And Excuse Stannis, his heart is harden by a life a disappointment and military training.
Karstark was wrong to kill the Lannister boys. But his criticisms of Robb throughout the series are SPOT on… Robb should have properly imprisoned his mother. It seems harsh, but she undermined his authority and made a stupid decision. Her being his mother doesn’t excuse her lack of forethought. Karatark isn’t wrong when he says Cat killed those boys as much as he did. He wanted Jamie. She robbed him, and indeed every Northman of Justice.
Every time Tywin yells, "YOU'RE MY DAUGHTER!" I get a twinge of ptsd and I'm ready to marry Loras Tyrell and whatever else is required of me 😅 PS - that lap kitty is so fluffy and cuuute!! 🐈⬛
Did you notice that Stanis daughter Shireen’s hair is dirty blonde? Ned based his decision to confront Cersei based on the Book of Houses, which said all of the Baratheons had hair of black. Ned drew the conclusion that Cersei’s children (blonde hair) were all Jamie’s based on that premise that all Baratheons had black hair. But here we have a black hair Stannis and his black haired wife produced a dirty blonde haired child. So why couldn’t a black haired Robert Baratheon and a blonde hair Cersei have blonde hair children?
It was less about Roberts kid having blond hair it makes since What doesn't is that all of his kids are blond which is pretty ridiculous at least 1 of his kids should be brown also that's probably just casting inconsistencies in the books she has brown hair .
Assembling a boy band with the characters. The group Coldplay actually sort of did this. They made an ill conceived musical about GoT thats a satire thats funny as hell. You guys should really watch it at some time. But be warned, their are a few spoilers in it if you have not watched up to the point in the show when they made the video. Others can tell you when it's safe to watch it. I believe after season 3 but I am not positive about that. it is sooooo funny and you guys should really do it.
What's everyone's relation? I always think the gals are sisters and the fellow in the middle is a friend--the guy off camera who keeps every one on point without giving up the plot is with the blonde gal? Am I close?
I am asking myself why this show is so good; Besides the well-written story, I would say because of British actors perfect acting and great directing otherwise it could be like Rings of Power abomination.

The bathtub scene with Jamie and Brienne never gets old. It's still one of my favorites.
It was so shocking and incredible. I hated Jaime with a passion and this blew me away...friggin Martin with his Gray characters
