How to Make: RAZOR SHARP Knife From a Wrench (Karambit)

  • Опубликовано: 4 мар 2016
  • My second ever attempt at blacksmithing a knife, today I'm making a Karambit out of a 21mm wrench from home depot, using my:
    Homemade anvil: • Easy, Cheap DIY Anvil ...
    And my homemade forge: • Fold-Away Blacksmith F...
    My end product is a little underwhelming, but as long as you use a bigger wrench you should be fine. Special thanks to Chandler Dickinson, whose videos have educated me more than high-school ever did.
    Music:
    Intro song:
    Fly Away - Otis McDonald, from the RUclips Creator Studio Music Library.
    Blacksmithing song:

    Your home forge is quite literally a home forge, made from items scrounged around your home. And it works well! That's a sign of ingenuity and "necessity is the mother of invention". Excellent.

    A karambit originates from south-east Asia, and is meant to represent the claw of a tiger. The blade is actually supposed to be even smaller. It is supposed to be just a small claw that is easily concealed yet sharp and long enough to hit the arteries. Everyone is used to the 'Americanized" versions of the karambit, where the blade is a good five inches lol

    So a guy walks into a bar and sees a tiny pianist playing a tiny piano. The guy walks up to the bartender and asks about the pianist. The bartender says to the man "There is a genie in the bathroom that will grant you one wish" So the guy goes to the bathroom and sees the genie in the corner. "I will grant you one wish" bellowed the genie. the man says, "Okay, I wish for world peace" The genie says "Okay, I will grant you world geese" So the man goes up to the bartender and says "Your genie is hard of hearing" The bartender says, "No kidding. Do you think I wanted a 12-inch pianist?"

    an easier way to sand would be to use a small sanding block, it'll make your sanding smoother and quicker, eliminating finger marks because of its flat edge, you can get nice one's cheaply at autobody supply shops!!!

    Karambit blades can be mere cm. long because they were originally designed to mask the fact that the user had a weapon. It would surprise the victim to realize they had been cut, when they originally thought they were simply facing a bare fisted opponent. Good job!

      In general I agree with you but a belt sander is a big exception to that rule.

    • @JackTheDeergal
      @JackTheDeergal 8 лет назад +5

      h snow it grabs into your glove and pulls it into the belt sander

    • @MooseKicks1066
      @MooseKicks1066 8 лет назад +18

      No it doesn't. I've worked with a belt sander for the last 10 odd years. The danger lies with having gloves that are too loose or improperly worn - something like tight fitting mechanix gloves work great. There is certain equipment where what you are saying is absolutely true, but a belt sander is not one of them.

    • @pauldufresne4650
      @pauldufresne4650 8 лет назад +6

      Both of you are right,as a machinist,we don't wear gloves at all working on lathes and miling,if your gloves grip in the chuck or a rotary tool it's over for you.For the belt sander,if you wear gloves,make sure that they are fit to your hand with no loose end at the end of your fingers or wear nitryl gloves,looks like rubber but it's more dry so if it jams in a betl sander the glove will just torn up,if you have cloth gloves forget it,it's gonna grab and push your hand in it.

    7:40 - 7:44 Bro, I cannot stop thanking you, I always wanted to be a samurai and make katanas, I am starting to learn how to forge knives to make one to my daughters and other loved ones,but after many cuts, bruises and little burns I was angry thinking I suck in comparison to my "teacher" I wanted to throw my tools and hide my tears from my youngest daughter but after I heard that I hugged her and promised to create something great for her and her sister thanks to those magic words, from now on you have my appreciation and respect !

    Most knifemakers seem to forget that actual Indonesian karambits are really small. The whole point of this design is to bea able to hide the blade so when your opponent think you are attacking him with your fist, you are actually striking with the blade. Most modern examples I see today are very large. Your karambit is actually much closer to native design.
