This is factually incorrect. This song does in fact sound better in 1984, assuming one can find their way back there… the main reason it sounds better in 1984 is that it’s friggin 1984 and our nation and world hasn’t lost its collective mind and is a much better and more sane place to live than 2024. Barring that, however, it still sounds great in 2024, even if it’s not quite as great as it was hearing it in all of its cassette glory in 1984.

Another group who have, unfairly, been kept out of The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame for far too long! They were one of the most brilliant highlights of my 1980's musical memories.
@@laminage I can't say that the Hall is necessarily racist (although their exclusion of one of the most deserving pioneers of Rock and Roll, Chubby Checker, who changed the way we danced to that genre of music, is certainly unfair), but I have my own thoughts about the bigotry that may exist there, as their continued exclusion, or even consideration, of two of the most genuinely powerful voices that ever graced the 20th century, Connie Francis and Johnny Maestro of the group The Brooklyn Bridge, along Danny and The Juniors, a group that "defined" the early days of Rock and Roll with their hits "Let's Go To The Hop" and "Rock and Roll Is Here To Stay", seems to point in that direction. Not too many inductees whose last names "end in a vowel", if you get my drift. And, yes, I will agree with you, that ALL of your choices belong in The Hall, most certainly before ANY rap or hip hop artist, which I see they are beginning to include.

In the 80's, the artists were generally more intelligent. Duran Duran for example here, they show their intellect by showing they know History!!! This song "New Moon on Monday" is about changing Society for the Better, for a Better Future for ALL! This song is my favorite of all Duran Duran songs. In this song Duran Duran shows how they are Optimistic for Humanity, that Humanity one day will be BETTER FOR ALL! GOD BLESS DURAN DURAN I SAY!!!!
The French and Russian revolutions were the two most destructive revolutions in human history, resulting in death and misery that still reverberates around the world today.
@@BudSchnelker Hi, the French did have it a bit high. As for the Russian Revolution, it was essentially a bloodless revolution. All historians agree to this. Lenin took control very quickly, it was a popular revolution. But it was when the West wanted to overthrow the Soviets, and bring back the Tsar, that is when the destruction happened. Due to the West wanting to reverse the victory of the Soviets. SO the west is to blame for ALL the bloodshed and misery of the immediate after takeover of the Soviets.

This song hit number 10 in the US on March 17th 1984. I would give anything to be able to go back and relive those days. The nostalgia this song bring out in me is truly overwhelming. 😢
When I worked at Home Depot I heard this song on the radio. I remember loving the melody but I could never make out any lyrics. I have tried for a long time to find out what this song is. I have been searching for this song since the year 2011. It would be stuck in my head and I could never find it... until now. I feel like I accomplished something truly great today. Words cannot express how excited I was to finally find this song!
You got that right, Bob at 65. Since I only started touching computers the last 5 years because of my general disdain for them, this has happened many times to me. Even more incredible is that you may have heard of 1 relatively obscure song ONCE like 50 years ago, remember the melody or title (me) and then have a fair chance of coughing it up on U-tube. And then if your lucky your watching some grainy video of the song or event. I'm like "Look at those shirts those guys are wearing" or "I thought that was a female who sung that song"...LOL!!
I was a little kid watching these guys on mtv when these videos were new. They were cool as shit back then. Now more than 30 years later, their videos are cool as hell. The art of the 80s is killer. All of the work that went into these videos... They'd never work so hard now since everything it digitalized. Love this band still!
Yes. DD was a early 1980s era band that took full advantage of the film-fashion-pop music mix. They ran that horse for 8-9 years. Made $$$ & got fame...
I thoroughly and totally agree with you, Ruben Delgadillo. An enormous and gigantic thumbs-up for the fabulous '80s when such sensational pop groups like Duran Duran were the kings of pop music.

God. Bless. Duran. Duran. I. Miss. The. 1980s
Back in the 80’s I was a big fan of Duran Duran and I still am. Great songs.
Eclipse style 😍 New Moon 🥰😻🔥😍💚💙💜🌹🪘✨
My friend and I would sit in front of a floor model tv late at night waiting for any video, heart racing, oh God we loved them. Me and that same girl still get giddy every time we see them live. I have never seen anyone live as much as i have Duran Duran. My heart, forever.

I first heard this song when I was 13. I'm 50 now. I loved the bass line then and now.

I cant believe they are pushing 60 yrs old. Everytime my parents wanted the diner for dinner, I harrased my dad for quarters for the table juke boxes if I saw New Moon on Monday as an option or Hungry Like The Wolf
This song is faultless. Vocals impecable and catchy AF, especially the backing vocals in the choruses...guitar line is clever and well written...synth lines catchy...excellent bass and drums
Man, I had forgotten how good Duran Duran is
not me....
unforgotten
KR YW But they were generally a true art.

This song hit number 10 in the US on March 17th 1984. I would give anything to be able to go back and relive those days. The nostalgia this song bring out in me is truly overwhelming. 😢
Duran Duran
When I worked at Home Depot I heard this song on the radio. I remember loving the melody but I could never make out any lyrics. I have tried for a long time to find out what this song is. I have been searching for this song since the year 2011. It would be stuck in my head and I could never find it... until now. I feel like I accomplished something truly great today. Words cannot express how excited I was to finally find this song!
It is always a great feeling to finally find out the name of a song you like but haven't been able to identify.
Happy for u
You got that right, Bob at 65. Since I only started touching computers the last 5 years because of my general disdain for them, this has happened many times to me. Even more incredible is that you may have heard of 1 relatively obscure song ONCE like 50 years ago, remember the melody or title (me) and then have a fair chance of coughing it up on U-tube. And then if your lucky your watching some grainy video of the song or event. I'm like "Look at those shirts those guys are wearing" or "I thought that was a female who sung that song"...LOL!!
Like a birthday or a pretty view ;)
@@fellowcitizen But, then I'm sure that you know it's just for you.
I was a little kid watching these guys on mtv when these videos were new. They were cool as shit back then. Now more than 30 years later, their videos are cool as hell. The art of the 80s is killer. All of the work that went into these videos... They'd never work so hard now since everything it digitalized. Love this band still!
hey jill i did too that went mtv was very cool at the time can i ask your age iam 44
Yes. DD was a early 1980s era band that took full advantage of the film-fashion-pop music mix. They ran that horse for 8-9 years. Made $$$ & got fame...
Me to good music never dies.
This has always been my fave Duran song. Takes me to another world.
Between this and Save a Prayer for me.

This song and The reflex are the songs from Seven and the ragged tigger that I can listen to over and over again and never get tired of them.
Thumbs up for the 80's!
80s music is on its way back big time
Ruben Delgadillo Nothing like the Eighties music. The glorious decade!
👍🏻😁👍🏻😁👍🏻😁👍🏻😁👍🏻😁👍🏻
I thoroughly and totally agree with you, Ruben Delgadillo. An enormous and gigantic thumbs-up for the fabulous '80s when such sensational pop groups like Duran Duran were the kings of pop music.
My mom always played this for me when I was little in the 2000’s, still so thankful she showed me Duran Duran 🥺
Tea That's awesome!!!! Cheers!!!!

Happy New Year to all the Duranies out there:)
That’s crazy I have had this song in my head today and could not figure out why?
I love this song! Duran Duran still rocks! Go 80's!
Look at Nicks's lovely smile when he's dancing at the end. Priceless.
They were, are, and will forever be the soundtrack of my life!!!!!!
🌕Smooooooooth verse sailing and buildup to an explosive chorus💥☝🏻🤯👍🏻❕
An appropriate theme for 1984, the year of its release. Duran Duran, like other great bands, defined the 80's.
