Lyrics:
Telegram force and ready
I knew this was a big mistake
There's a fine line drawing
My senses together
And I think it's about to break
If I listen close I can hear them singers, oh
Voices in your body coming through on the radio
The union of the snake is on the climb
Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break
Through the borderline
Nightshades on a warning
Give me strength at least give me a light
Give me anything even sympathy
There's a chance you could be right
If I listen close I can hear them singers, oh
Voices in your body coming through on the radio
The union of the snake is on the climb
Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break
Through the borderline
The union of the snake is on the climb
Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break
Through the borderline
If I listen close I can hear them singers, oh
Voices in your body coming through on the radio
The union of the snake is on the climb
Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break
Through the borderline
The union of the snake is on the climb
It's gonna race, it's gonna break, it's gonna move up
Through the borderline
The union of the snake is on the climb
Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break
Through the borderline
The union of the snake is on the climb

Nor that they knew of all the pedo terror in the elites world!
Not only artists but they're musicians, composers, songwriters, singers and they play their own instruments.
No arguments about that!
39 years later and it's still better than the crap on the radio today.
Ma certo!
Los primeros 40 años.😊

Voices in your body
My favorite song from them. Sending my thoughts out to Andy Taylor, battling prostate cancer.
Mine too! Nobody ever remembers this one. Closely followed by a View to a Kill x

Who else is having an 80's music marathon? 🙂
Yup
Daily! God bless.
Er,yes.
I have one every night!!!
Every weekend
The clip was filmed at the Kurnell sand hills in the south of Sydney 1983
It the 70’s we used to play there, sliding down the hill on cardboard
Sadly the sand hills don’t exist anymore
All the sand was mined and the land reclaimed for residential near the beach and industrial area further away
Suppose the clip captured a slice of our history
The opening of this song with the Nick Rhodes synth intro still gets me everytime. This song should have been a bigger hit than it was.
This is perhaps DD´S song I listen most probably because the synth opening is like a blitz unleashed!
The first 30 seconds of this song It's my phone ringtone :D
It was a big hit in its time.
I was pretty young, but I remember it being on the radio all the time. I always thought it was one of their biggest hits.
@@jruiyt love it. I like the bridge too with the fairlight’s whaaaaaaaoooooooo.
I don't know what on earth this song is about but I absolutely love it
The creators dont either
It's about the kundalini energy and tantric sex.
Sounds like it's about this song climbing the record charts.
Duran Duran should be a no brainer for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Ruben Delgadillo I agree about the Hall of Fame. It takes forever to get into the Hall of Fame ELO was just now inducted. Someday soon hopefully Duran Duran will be on the ballot.
For god's sake they inducted Madonna into the hall of fame.
Rock and Roll is a much broader term than many think. Those who think this person shouldn't be in or that person shouldn't be because they don't fit their narrow definition of rock and roll are missing the point entirely. Otherwise, do they think that Chuck Barry, Bill Haley and the Comets, Fats Domino, or any of those older singers shouldn't be in there either,? There is no one type of rock and roll music. Whether it's pop, rock, heavy metal, new wave, alternative, whatever it's all rock and roll. Let's not forget rock and roll itself is an amalgam of music that started before it like blues, country, and soul.
That's why people are inducted, they may not fit your definition of rock and roll but they fit someone's.
So to answer your question. Yes, I think Duran Duran should be in.
yeh, them and depeche mode. Fuck the likes of abba 😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
2 years later, we got our wish
My now 30 year old son, when he was a toddler, loved their greatest hits cd. He either couldn't say Duran Duran, or couldn't remember it, but he called them The Group. I was always hearing 'Mommy please play The Group' 😊
Wow that's really brilliant
Truly an unforgettable song and video that has thrived for a generation and a half. Forty years after its debut it still resonates. Duran Duran was unique to say the least!
And those underground kids are pushing 50 now!
They've been touring America on their Futurepast tour. They've been performing their new material as well as their old. I've noticed they don't perform the Union of the Snake at all, which is one of my favourites.
@@dorapozidis1841 Probably because they can't find a decent saxophone player.

Nick Rhodes is one of the most talented keyboardist out there maybe not the most technical but his style is beautiful and sad he never gets enough credit for how talented he is very underrated keyboardist great song and great band Duran Duran!!!
Creative genius who pushed to find new sounds and frontiers for each album they did - constantly changing. Incredible talent.
I agree. That intro is brilliant.
Their bassist is also unbelievable. Did you hear the bass line in Rio? Everything about this band is awesome.

Eighties music is the BEST. So much better than the crap we have today. Long live Duran Duran!
+Lisa Cunningham When those Bands filmed a video - on location!
they had IMAGINATION back then...
still do
Totally agree, the 80's had the best music in fact best everything (even tho times were tough) and music and fashion was diverse. We had New Romantics, punks, Mods, Rockers, Goths etc etc and although we all made out we hated each genre we actually didn't and respected each other. The punks hair was amazing and use to quite often take them hours to do and they used to use soap, glue and cans of hairspray to hold it in place and the colours were amazing and I remember being in awe of the hair (not that I wanted it) These days everyone looks the same and the music is boring and samey and groups call themselves bands BUT how can they be bands when they can't play an instrument? Back in the 80's they were bands as most could play at least one instrument. Ahhhhhhh the 80's *starts dreaming* Lol
agreed the 1980s' are awesome, long live the 1980s'.😀
I'm so glad I got to enjoy this band at their height in the 80s. Classic 80s

duran duran and a-ha the best

Duran Duran love Bowie , this is a blend of : Let's Dance and Starman. R.I.P. The Thin White Duke.
Was just going to ask if this song reminded anyone else of "Let's Dance"!
Haven't the slightest idea, but it would make sense.

It's literally a gay anthem. The snake is a cock, the union of the snake is someone coming out of the closet and finally getting snaked in the ass. Duran Duran celebrate the snake.
New Wave masterpiece.

u need to re-evaluate your taste in music if u think this is a masterpiece......DD had lots of great songs....but this was not one of them
@@rebjiii You need to reevaluate both your spelling (you're not Prince) and your flawed manner of overthinking a theme. Music doesn't have to make sense to be a masterpiece; it just has to sound right. Music is NOT subject to the same laws as film and writing. That SHOULD be obvious, but you're so brain-dead that I had to spell it out for you.
@@gunslingergirl2579 really ? your criticism of my comment is that I typed 'U' instead of 'you' .....your taste in music SUCKS if you think Union of Snake is a quality song......DD has lots of excellent songs.....this piece of crap is not one of them
@@gunslingergirl2579 I agree it's a masterpiece. The melodies are so addictive! People think music just writes itself.
If you tube was around in the 80s, this masterpiece would have billions of views in a matter of weeks
it was...it was called MTV
I think we can all agree that Duran Duran owned the 80's. 🤘🤘
Duran Duran not only set the standard for cinematic music videos but also raised the bar for every pop band on MTV that followed. This video was probably shot on 35mm film. It's a shame that this 360p version doesn't reflect the print quality of the original. A 4K transfer would be spectacular. In fact: I would pay to see all of Duran Duran's top videos on the big screen with a 4k transfer and THX sound.
66 Films Completely agree. And that's an excellent idea. I mentioned the same about their own Official View To A Kill video. You'll see the minute or so has been muted (just edit it out if you don't have the rights to the film audio) & is shockingly in an even lower pixel definition than this one. That and it's only a DD representation but James Bond as well. It deserves so much better in this day and age. Surely they can get a 4K video review underway already. Seems only right for such a forward looking group and their fans.
Yes indeed it was shot on 35mm! I believe the first of their videos to be shot that way. Their famous Antigua and Sri Lanka videos were all 16mm I believe (but definitely deserve a proper remaster...I wonder if the OCNs still exist somewhere.)
That would just blow me away!!!!
Definitely was glued in front of my TV set when MTV premiered this one!! Loyal Duran Duran fan 4eva!!!💘
Hated Duran Duran back then now I really like them
The fact that the majority is not paying attention to the details, tells me you are all destined to stay asleep for eternity.
The synths in this song are great!
It gives the song a special touch
Nick Rhodes use of synths in all their songs was just amazing, and you are so right, it really brought something incredibly special to their songs.
I've listened to New Moon on Monday so many times purely because of the synths.

clark4023 great group. I agree. I grew up with late 60s and 70s BUT I love early 80s, when we could watch MTV, when they played videos.
Saw them recently on Amoeba records. They've aged so well. True gentlemen.
I saw Duran Duran in concert in January 1984. It was my first concert that I ever been to.
I always loved how John Taylor acts all weary walking and climbing hills in the desert at the beginning of this music video. His makeup and lustrous hair were flawless despite how he tried to look spent of energy. No wonder he acted in "Sugar Town". He displayed some acting talent here. Though, he did have a cameo appearance with "Power Station", his other band, eons ago on the "Miami Vice" TV series.
Reptile people, the womb, the abyss, and fallen angels all in one nice little occult package...
***** Yeah because Simon always was an incredible songwritter =) he was always saying sthg in his songs he said once that the union of the snake is about peoples minds.

Phil C Actually that was Nile Rogers on rhythm guitar who also produced this track
***** Wow. That's cool😜.
Makes a lot of sense. It's got that Nile Rodgers rhythmic sensibility about it👍.
Nope, this is all Andy. Alex Sadkin and Ian Little produced this song. The first time they worked with Nile Rodgers was when he remixed "The Reflex" and the first time he played on a Duran record was "Notorious".
btw does he appear at all in the video? didn't notice him at all
Andy is my favourite- I would never miss him. He appears briefly- he is wearing sunglasses climbing a ladder.
that's a serious set for a song of this calibre. Not to mention i just realized that simon looks like elvis
It's nice to see a record label throwing down some serious money for a music video for a change. So often music videos are just abysmal, disappointing, infra-low-budget productions that don't do justice to the song they accompany.

40 years of this hit
We must learn to integrate the dark with the light of our own souls, before we can truly be evolved. We must go inwards to our soul, to explore the darkness within to grow. We must revisit our lives, from childhood through traditional teachings, then ultimately reach truth of love and light.
With this wisdom, we can finally break out...and our souls will be truly free.
Whether or not that is what was intended, we can see those lessons in the video. Going down in elevator is going into your own soul. Being down there is also visiting the darkness within. Seeing the children, as you were as a child, when you were innocent, and yet also being taught things which may not be true. The love birds, reminds us that Love is all there is, that Love is who we are. Rising up and out...we have reached this state of wisdom, this state of enlightenment. And this time, he has with him the secret scroll, which is the wisdom he obtained from the journey.
Whether or not that is what was intended, does not matter. I see those types of lessons can be represented in the video.
I remember waking up early in the morning to watch the world premiere of this video on (I think) Good Morning America; it was one of those network morning news shows, anyway. The band was so big back then that a Duran Duran video was actually news.

Yes and furthermore if you're talented and spirited and you like to involve yourself in the knowledge of dark powers, you can easily make a break through in the music industry. Duran Duran met an exceptation at their time through styles and musics, they had all the winning cards to communicate something attractive and something much more insidious (like so many others of course) but they were fascinating.
