    I’m not from the USA and don’t truly understand how coupons work but it is obvious to me just how much manufacturers mark up products if there is so wiggle room to bring the prices down with coupons. Wouldn’t it be fairer and more equitable for all if the prices were simply lower across the board ?

    • @Mick587

    I don't combine household/personal care/pets with food. I find it's too easy to spend a lot of money and then say " Why don't we have any food?" I know it works for some people, just not for me. I'd run two receipts.

    When I was couponing CVS was the store where I REALLY saved ! The best I ever did using coupons , was extra Care bucks, matching them up with coupons and free items . I wound up getting 3 carts full for less than $1.00 and I still got more Extra care buck on my next purchase . I was so proud of myself and I heard the lady behind me say I wanna do what she did . I spent a LOT of time on this trip and was very tired but it was worth it and I’ll never forget it. You did great and saved a lot too and I just love all your videos thank you.

    I have been living my life with all of these. CVS is great for getting deals! I grew up never using paper plates or napkins. Always cloth napkins and towels and china plates. When I first met my best friend I almost freaked out when all she used were paper plates,paper towels for napkins and plastic utensils. Wow I’m sure my mother was spin in her grave 😂. But I didn’t judge! And she laughed when I told her never used them. Close to 15yrs later and we still respect each other’s differences!

  • @emilygilstrap31
    @emilygilstrap31 5 дней назад +9

    Exactly. Bulk is not always cheaper per unit on everything. Also, sometimes, it might not make sense either because you can eat that much quick enough. I'm always comparing sales as well. Bogo isn't always cheaper. Neither is generic. Aldi block cheese has been $1.75 on sale in my area lately. That's .25cents cheaper than gv block cheese. We just got an HEB in our area too. That's a Texas based chain. They are cheaper on lots of items & I got $15 free with combo locos & grand opening promos. The block cheese was more than at walmart & aldi, though even in generic. It pays to shop around as long as the stores aren't too far from home that they eat up your gas budget.

    Oh my gosh the advertisers for cleaning products! They are insane. Why do people believe them when they tell you you need a different cleaner for every room of the house? I just noticed that my toilet bowl clean says it's good for cleaning the toilet AND the toilet brush? Who KNEW? Can't believe they don't sell two different products for that job.

    • @jenniferwaffle6920
      @jenniferwaffle6920 4 дня назад

      advertising/marketing there are people who's jobs are to make you feel like you need to buy a product, they will use any form of manipulation to sell a product. Guilt, shame, time, etc to influence your dollars. Most cultural norms that people take for granted can be traced back to an advertising campaign that is now embedded into societal norms, we just keep doing it/ buying it because we always have at this point.

    I would like to try your technique to use kitchen towels and cloth napkins but my question is how do you was them? On hot or cold, with or without bleach ? I find my kitchen towels stain easily and so I tend to use paper towels more often to prevent stained cloth towels.

    I hand out the dish towels for napkins as well. I only use a paper towel for something gross like cat barf! I don't fry food so don't need them to absorb grease. My laundry room is right by the kitchen so k just toss them directly in the washer. Since they aren't greasy I just wash them with any load. Would use the PT to clean outside of toliet etc.

    When I do One load of laundry- my electric usage goes up Exponentially! Electric washer and dryer. I am frugal and only wash my clothes maybe every 10 days- but there are the times I need to wash bedding. My children are now grown and live on their own, but I was once doing a minimum of 2-3 loads of laundry a day for my family of 8.
    I went back to bar soap from body wash. SO much less expensive! I bought a 12 pack of Dove bar soap on sale- well over 10 months ago and Still have 6 bars left! It's just me using it but I shower daily.

    I don't have much room for bulk/ over stock storage. 😫 Also, I wish I could rotate my deodorant and shampoo like that, but were a house of 3, all with sensitive skin. I've only found 1 deoderant that works for me anymore. Lume. They do have deals, though. It comes out to 11 a stick that lasts about 3 mos. Plus, i have curly hair & only one shampoo line seems to keep my hair healthy & less frizzy. It's not too expensive, though & i get deals at Target for it. That's the only retailer that sells it. That stuff does stink. As for razors, I'm able to use the billie razors & no longer need to shave cream as a result. That has saved tons.

    The dollar aisle at DG can be great. I love the charcoal toothpaste. You can also get many other personal hygiene items. Just be aware of sizes.
    My all purpose cleaner in a mixture of Dawn original blue, rubbing alcohol, and water. Works great on hard surfaces, excluding wood. I also like it on mirrors but not windows.
    And don't forget Dollar Tree. I haven't met a bottle of Fabuloso I haven't liked. They have some new off brand bathroom and toilet cleaners that are getting good reviews, though I haven't tried them yet.

    My closest CVS is a bit out of the way, but I may start looking into their deals more now. DG is also a great one for deals if you know what you’re doing. I got a 2 pack of fancy toothbrushes and three tubes of toothpaste for 13 cents- retail was originally $16.50 🤑

    I make my own deodorant safer for my body with very simple ingredients. It works so much better on odors doesn't stop the sweating though. I use castile soap alot for hand washing I diluted it and use in my foaming soap pumps.

    Some things to consider: CVS regular prices are very inflated. I notice they tend to over inflate the price then put items on “sale”. But with rolling the extra care bucks there are definitely deals.

    Hi Mindy, the couponing is really fascinating. I am from Germany and I don't think it works this way here. There are similar things though.
    But I really wanted to say how thrilled I am on your take on paper products.
    Years ago I joined an international frugal moms facebook group and I almost got kicked out of it because I accidentially caused a big commotion.
    I noticed that many people posted pictures of their frugal meals, but the food was on paper plates.
    I postet about this, wondering how can that be frugal?
    It was as if I had punched a bee's nest. I really did not intend that string of reactions.
    I am about to be 43 years old and in my childhood in eastern Germany paper plates simply did not exist. I had never heard of such things.
    Of course later they did exist but in my family and all people I know nobody whould come to the idea to use paper plates in the regular day to day to save washing dishes.
    For big parties we even tended to asked family members to bring over a stack of dishes or cutlery if we did not have enough.

    For a long time, I couldn't figure out the couponing game, always would end up overspending and get items I'd never use. I've finally mastered it, at least through digital coupons and sales at Meijer, Giant Eagle, and Walgreens. You really do need to use math and sit and plan extensively. I understand now why the ladies (or men) would spend a lot of time going through the flyers and calculating everything. I've tried CVS, but I can't seem to figure out how to use the extra care bucks...

    Mindy do you have a CVS Carepass Membership? I do:) It costs $49 a year and they give you $10 per month of free money(simple math on savings!!). You also get 20% off all CVS brands. I watch the deals/sales and use my carepass rewards with them. For instance-they had a buy one get one free on a vitamin. When I used my $10 with the sale it was $1.63 total for two bottles. I have amazed staff with my savings techniques:) And if people are paying attention to your video you have PRINTED RECEIPTS! It makes it fast to see your deals AND you need them to scan to Fetch anyway lol!

    Most of these budgeting videos suggest shopping different stores, watching for sale/clearance items, coordinating coupons, etc. TIME is the thing I don't have to spend.
