I’m 63. I sure do miss the days of having a house full of children, cooking non stop, and sleeping hard at night. Now I have more time to keep things super organized and tidy. More time to explore new crafts. Rearranging my furniture instead of buying new. Enjoy every minute. Time FLIES!!!
Same here. I’m 65 and I miss cooking for all my boys. When they were all still at home of course there were times when I wanted to stay in bed a little longer or when supper didn’t come out right. Times when the thought of cleaning up yet another mess or a diaper that exploded right when I was finally ready to get everyone loaded into the car would bring me to the verge of tears. I reminded myself then that those days, both good and bad would be behind me sooner than I could imagine and I would miss all of it, which has come to pass. (Ok, I don’t miss poopy diapers.) Sometimes when you’re in the middle of one of those days you have to remind yourself that it’s character building. 😅
I got married in 1985 at age 22. I miss the days of no technology. Life was busy, but slower. I had more time to clean, organize, craft, cook, all the things I love. In the mid 90’s I started working full time, but cellphones still weren’t a thing. Then the 2000’s came and my job required that I have a smartphone with me at all times. It still does. I am overwhelmed. I just want to slow down again, now that I’m 61, but i have to keep working. So now I’m addicted to RUclips videos. I need to cut way way back, and concentrate on me and my home again. Thank you for reminding me of simpler times. It’s so nice to hear that as a younger person you feel this too and recognize it. I love that you appreciate your home and family and that you love it. ❤
I'm going to be 59 in August and I'm the same way. I work from home taking care of my handicapped daughter.I also watch my youngest granddaughter because my daughter has gone back to work. I watch too many crafting videos and decorating. I need to scale way back on watching RUclips. It's so addictive. Love Lisa's videos
I think you are so right! I am so addicted to learning from videos, I went into youtube and instagram with the intent to learn everything I wasnt taught about different things growing up, because there are soo many people with channels ( like to this one!) that share wisdom and knowledge I was and still am desperate for. But it soo quickly became addictive and I always feel I can't learn enough, and it takes a lot of time! I sometimes tell people who dont understand why gen Z is so depressed, that they have NEVER in their life experienced mere existence without the constant KNOWING that the whole world and their social life is screaming to them from their phones.. but I recognize that even if I have experienced it, that feeling is such a distant memory that I can't find that peace with internet available like it is. Especially since I need to be available for my job like you. I would love some rehab months without. I am planning for when I get maternity leave, I will completely log off and only go to the computer if I need to research something for the health of my child and they will grow up with me NEVER having my head in the phone, I promise. !!!
I hear you I am retired now and a widow.. I spend a lot of time on you tube which I really need to step back more from. Fortunately I am not addicted to my phone it's handy when I'm standing in line at the grocery store but that's it I have very few apps on the phone, no games no Pinterest. Anna In Ohio
I am 72 , Hubby is 73 and every Friday is “ our date day”. We always do something a little different and special from the rest of the days. We are still madly in love and we both look forward to our “ special” day. It’s the very simple things we do that are the most enjoyable.
I don’t remember who but a Christian author had advice in a book I read and it was just that, he said to look at your job, your chores and responsibilities not like you have to do it but I GET TO DO THIS !!! That has stuck in my head for many years ! It’s really ringing in my head today because I popped something in my back day before yesterday and I’m laid up, I have missed work, I have 20 chickens overdue to be butchered and I need to harvest and can but here I sit unable to bend over, it hurts sitting here on three pillows……..I want to have to go to work !!!
I got off FB after the birth of my second child (now expecting #8!). More than just something for me, it was a gift to my children. It was a gift of my time and attention, setting my priorities intentionally, making sure the kids aren’t just interruptions to the FB never ending scroll. But the part I think they appreciate, is their childhoods remained private and protected. It was a struggle to retrain my brain and break some habits, but I’ve never regretted it.
I have set a date that I will no longer carry my phone in my pocket during the day... My biggest thing isn't scrolling but having an earpod in and listening to a video or podcasts... There is a time for that but I have found I always want to hear something, I take out the ear pods when I really want to interact and engage but I find that there are missed opportunities that develop organically that I think I'm missing.... But I do think it's going to be a huge struggle not having that stimulation all the time, but probably a very good thing.
Agree with everything but also isolation. Many moms of my generation are dealing with having children and not having a community or freinds or even family to engage with often. We often turn to our phones for socialization which is never enough. We need human interaction. It’s so hard these days to make friends these days because of how polarized this country is.
We didn’t have family or friends over but rarely. We talked on phn some, but never for long. Getting together to spend the day and kids playing together was a big treat. We started the crockpot before we left and shared lunch there. Many of us had to get the car for the day to do anything. One car family. We weren’t isolated. We were working at home loving our family Without cable tv either lol let alone internet.
Ur human interaction is right there with u, living in ur house Ur creating ur interaction with each new baby u birth And ur husband is ur best friend who comes home after work and doesn’t run off on wkends
I hear you. When my older kids were little, my street was deserted. Everyone was at work, inside their homes with the doors locked, at the shops or in their cars. Relatives and grandparents at work or disinterested. You feel like you live on a deserted island as a stay home mum sometimes...and it's true in many cases. It's hard to bear the isolation when you are very young. And it can take a lot out of you. Not everyone has an amazing partner, either. Some of us are working through a lot more than others... ❤I'm in Australia btw..
@@soniachambers6460thank you so much for your words, very validating.❤ it really is another level of difficult when one doesn’t have an amazing spouse.
I just love the english concept of "Homemaker", in spanish we don't have it, we have "Ama de casa" that is more like "Housewife" and isn't feel the same. Making a home is totally different than just been the wife... love your videos ❤
I had my first 20 years ago. Things were simpler and being a SAHM was acceptable. Now days you're expected to be doing dozens of things, social media is taking over everything, and being a SAHM is frowned upon and instead everyone expects you to have a career and make it out like you're a failure at life if you dont have a career going. In the words of my brother "you need to grow up, stop sitting at home playing house and finally be a responsible adult and get a job" the pressure on moms to literally do everything (inside the home and outside the home) is insane these days. Way different than what it was when I first became a mom. What would make me more content is to be able to feel like what I do raising 6 kids, homeschooling, cooking, cleaning taking my special needs kids to therapy, sharing the gospel with my children and nurturing their relationship with Christ, etc. are enough, that they matter and that they count. Just because Im not working outside the home and the things I do don't earn me money, they do matter.
I would encourage you to decide with your husband and prayer, what your family priorities are and what your role in that looks like. Once you have that vision...keep it in the forefront of your mind and let that guide your days. When you work with a purpose and for a purpose you can find peace in that....what others think of it or feel about it just doesn't matter.
I was cutting down social media before i had kids but when I had my first son 4 years ago I deleted. Literally deleted everything except pinterest. It was the best decision ever!!! You dont need social media ladies, really you dont.
Im a teen and I really love your videos, they inspire me to have a life like you, to cook and be able to create like that for my future family❤ i hope you see that your content can reach teenagers too❤
I love that you’re already thinking of your future. I was the same at your age but I felt pretty alone in those dreams and goals. It is wonderful that we have people like this to look to for inspiration!
U asked how we started having our kids come home every Saturday night for supper?. It actually was their idea. Granddaughters love it here. They even all sleepover. Adults and all. Just enjoy hanging out .
Every Saturday night, our kids all come to our house for a meal and to hang out. We call it open house, they are welcome to bring friends, in laws, whoever. If they need to skip a week for an event, no worries. We have done this for years. It started when they were young adults. Our number has grown. ❤ I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Hi, for me if you love what you do at home As A Mom - YOU can create happiness, hugs, smile, contentment, relaxation, peace of mind inside our HOME (not just an obligation) just saying 🥰☺️🥰😊
As a momma for the past 20 years (10 kiddos later), you are 100% correct. Things have changed so much, yet I realize I've just become more old-fashioned as time went on. ♥ Thankfully, my grown girls have embraced the lifestyle and are going to end up a million times better than me. Isn't that always the hope? 🤗
I get it. I have 3 under 5. And I'm 37. I think I would have had way more energy to keep up with them in my early twenties .. and then I'd have a few extra hands around here now. It's the way it was meant to be.
I’m a young mom of 2 littles and just deleted social media permanently and it is a gift! I was inspired on the same interview!! As someone who has had it since I was 12 I always thought it was a childish thing. I always knew I wanted to get rid of it as an adult. Better late than never ❤
This was fantastic! Thank you for addressing this topic. RUclips is the only social media I engage with. I can't imagine spending endless hours scrolling on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok.
This hits on exactly how i feel! I was just telling my friend that i was not made to know so much. I cannot mentally handle taking care of my families needs and all that entails/homeschooling/working part time/all the worlds conflicts/all the opinions of content creators and then getting pulled into the comment fights/trying to enjoy time to myself etc etc. my real life circle is small and often i feel like i use social media to fill it in, but in general it just makes me feel unfulfilled or pushed me to consume more social media or the “must have” product the push. I scroll when i should read or get something done. I scroll when i should be resting! Its just so hard and addicting. And i hate it. Sorry for the rambling 😂
I love this! Thank you. I have been a stay-at-home, homeschool mom for a few years now and I am so thankful for it! I feel such a sadness sometimes at how "simple" mom life used to be, when I think back to how my mom spent her days with us. We were home a lot, we spent all day outside, movie night was a treat, eating out was a treat, and my mom was always there. We had the happiest childhood! I want my kiddos to remember these things too! Your videos are so beautiful!
I'm a mom of 3 boys that grew up in the 70s and early 80s. I grew up with 15 siblings 9 sisters and 5 brothers in the 50,60s and 70s. I wish I grew up in a family like your big family does... my mom was not a cook or cleaner. But now my sisters are obsessed with both.I have a huge garden and and I am prepper. My sisters, not so much.. I think I watch daily because that's what I wanted my life to be.. like you.
My oldest is almost 30 and my youngest is 6. In 1995 there wasn't even any internet where my youngest was born in 2018. The difference is insane. I feel like the internet in early 2000 was super helpful but now I think it does more harm than good. It would have been better if we'd never put it on our phones.
You are so right! The problem was when it went to our phones, the world became crazy and so exploitative. If we didn’t had internet in our phones, we would need to reach out, even to services more. Now everything is a click away, ubers, food, info, there is no proper ritual in seating down and searching something on the internet. Google changed too. I remember that even a blog with 2 followers in the other part of the world could be found in my top search if the blog talked about my search. Now the search is by ads or relevancy, which is a fake relevancy, because it’s made by companies who know how to make a website appear in first page of search. It was an adventur e in the beginning and now is just numbing. I am writing you from a tablet, and while do still have my smartphone, my plan is to change to an old one. Just for phonecalls and text message, even that can be intrusive sometimes haha :)
INCREDIBLE timing. Literally this week, after two months of having deleted social media apps on my phone except Pinterest and RUclips, I decided to take the leap and just delete and wipe everything. As a younger millennial/gen z I feel like I was on the internet just posting my whole life without any guidance or reminder that what's on there is forever. I'm currently pregnant with my third baby, but as my oldest grows and becoming so much more aware, I'm realizing more and more how much I want to protect the kids from the internet and social media and overposting, as well as potential predators and inappropriate/violent media that just isn't monitored. Plus. I am SO much happier and healthier without constantly checking socials. It became such a crutch in social situations and like a reflex, reaching for my phone and checking alllll the time. So much happier without it on a personal level, and as a mother as well. I've been baking more, creating art, writing, just being. Totally recommend getting rid of it and just wiping that stuff, or just starting by deleting the apps off your phone. You realize how much you're actually missing out on by BEING in social media, rather than the other way around.
I am 63 and remember when I was younger we went outside to play with the kids on the block. We knew how to entertain ourselves. We had imagination, sure we watched tv, but it was fun playing outside. Plus it gave mom a break when we ran around outside. Kids today have too much electronics and it is a different world.
I remember those days. The only time my mom saw me in the summer was when she yelled out the door "dinner time". I played all day long with all the kids on the block and rode my bike everywhere. Times have changed especially here in the city where you can't really just send your kids out alone anymore. My husband and I both worked full time so we sent our kids to day camp during the summer which was not cheap. I loved those days of board games, playing stoop ball, hide and seek etc...
Thank you for this channel. I'm inspired. I also love the gentleness of your voice and music. I love the outdoor scenery too. I love to be a home maker.
Homemaking and parenting has changed over the years. I have 6 children, I had 3 in my twenties, 2 in my thirties and one in my forties, I must admit it seemed a lot simpler and less pressured with my first three, social media didn’t even exist then.
We have family dinner at my mother in laws house every Monday. My son just graduated high school moving away to college in a month and I’m beginning to realize what a treasure it is to have your kids CHOOSE to spend time with you. I only hope to be so lucky!
I just have to laugh! I saw you Lisa, without losing a beat, just take that utensil out of your sons hand as he just got it out of the drawer! Now that’s a momma , one of our multitasking, mom sees everything superpowers!!! 😆 I loved it!!! You are such a wonderful mom, wife and woman. And yes, we have lost the ability to relax and enjoy our lives. To enjoy our families, extended included! To be thankful for the slower moving, easygoing pace. Music is a blessing! You are definitely an encouragement to me . I must tell you, I have grown to love you and I pray God will continue to bless you and I would call it, your ministry. 😊❤
You make some excellent points! My grandparents read the newspaper and then went about their day. They were much happier working around the house and visiting with family and friends. Lots of laughter. What a beautiful family you have! Precious, precious children!
I don’t have social media other than RUclips, which I use to be inspired in my cooking, homemaking and gardening. I love serving my family and making memories with them. I try to be present in the moment and leave my phone be as much as possible. Thank you for your inspiration! God bless you and your family!
I never knew about the option to be a homemaker, my parents raised me different, so when i got to know more and God’s plan for my life, i became a homemaker after 11 years working as a nurse. I feel bad I didn’t know about it earlier so sometimes i feel i missed out on so much, i’m trying to learn everything now🤷🏽♀️
Slowly I eliminated social media...FB first, then Instagram. I still have Snap and Tipton but I think they are on their way out too. I have been teaching for 25 years. This is the first summer I am truly relaxed. My children are young adults and have their own life. I realized I better carve something for me for when they move on. I am walking every morning and have put myself in a happy routine. It is awesome. Let's see what happens in September 😅
My kids are grown and gone but I have watched this 3 times now. I needed to hear this, you're voice with the video of family life just speaks to me. Thank you!
My homemaking changed when I watched the video ,"When there's not enough time to get it all done". During that video I realized I watch and look for short cuts to help me get it all done and that was robbing me of valuable time to love my home and my family. I now have 2 RUclipsrs I watch and one is Farmhouse On Boone. I love everything about Lisa's content and I'm refreshed and look forward to serving my family afterwards. I'm a Grandmother now and Homemaking was always so easy and rewarding before the Computers and Smart phones came along. I have a nice refreshing drink and sit down to watch Lisa. If there's not a new video out, I'm GOOD, I watch " When there's not enough time to get it all done again'. I've continued to realize each week through going along with your day and cooking that I raised 4 children and many others kids throughout my early years without having to have every other persons tips, tricks etc. Lisa I love your personality and Videos, even the music( that makes your videos so enjoyable for me. I love that you and Luke make time to stay in Love and enjoy your family. I continue to be encouraged every week.❤
I hope that many young homemakers are encouraged and challenged by your words today! I thought back to a time when my two were young and we did everything for “free-ninety-nine!” I used my son’s wagon and I’d pull them to the library, to the park for a picnic, to the yearly dance festival in our town, and so much more! It only required effort to just do it. That was over thirty-five years ago! I miss those days of sandboxes, homemade tents, dress up and jello jigglers. I hold those memories fiercely. Being a mother/homemaker is the most honorable gift and it flies by too fast. I appreciate your gentle reminders to us all. You and your sisters’ channels are a few great reasons for modern day technology that are a blessing in my life! Thank you, thank you! 🙏🏻🙌🏻🥰 Those berry crepes look gourmet worthy! Yum!
10 children 28 thru just turned 5 -Life has changed so, so much and so very rapidly! Loved the slow days of only littles at home walking everywhere -the library and parks. So the same! It was SO simple. Then the years of homeschooling ( which we are still in) and then the teens and young adults and now marrieds with children of their own.....So much change in our home and in the world. I rarely read the news anymore or try to follow a whole bunch of 'friends' on social media. There is so much in my own home and extended family, gardens, animals, and neighborhood that keep our life full and beautiful that extra just becomes overwhelming. I just pray for ,and take my peace about, alllll the crazy and tragedies I hear about anyway. May all of your homes and lives continue to prosper with the peace of God ruling in your hearts as you put one foot in front of the other and do life with joy as only He can give.❤
This is good advice and soooo true! I try to remember- that God works in our 'real life'. God has put those people in our life, and those are the relationships God wants us to invest in, or those are the people we should pray for. We can of course also pray for the things not in our lives- absolutely! I'm just saying we do not have to deliberately seek that out, with overconsumption of social media, news etc. we should not be so self minded. But we also need to be aware that this IS what God has given you to care for, to foster.
“As homemakers we can give our peace of mind over to an algorithm that is designed to keep us entangled”. Ah. Such good and true words. Thank you for this message.
My kids are 4 and 1 and this video does give encouragement. Sometimes we just have to stop and remember what's really important in the long run. On a side note - I am always amazed at the meals people are able to cook with so many kids!
When I had my son, we didn’t even think about having a registry. We just told our friends what we needed or wanted. I am always so amazed at all the new things and the prices of them.
I have such a hard time with house envy. I’m 44 and disabled on a fixed SSD income so I’m a life long apartment renter. I know if I had a home not attached to others with a back yard I’d be so content. I am always grateful for all I do have including access to local food banks so I try to make the best of everything on my plate mentally, physically and literally.
Can you apply to move to public housing in a small town? Some smaller towns have units that have little yards or areas for a community garden. Or maybe join a church or a center that has a community garden. I wish you peace and contentment
@@marywiggins7411 thank you 😊 I don’t qualify for help but that’s ok. It just means someone who has less needs more I 🤍 it’s more a bout of home envy I have could always be worse.
Do you have a balcony? You can do a container garden and put up a hammock to relax in. We have a container garden on our patio but my entire life I lived in apartments I used to have veggies growing on the balcony. Cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs
Thankyou so much. Your video was spot on. I am in the middle of a very stressful house sale, moving 200 miles and downsizing. I haven’t moved for over 50 years. Your video and lots of the comments took me back to a peaceful time when you spoke to people rather than machines and things were much more simple. I can cut out the news and lots of other unnecessary stuff and try to spend time appreciating those simple things.
It's been SUCH a process for me the past 3.5 years of mothering to break my tech addictions. It's taken a good 3 years of attempts to loosen the grip of my iphone, but I'm now at the point where for the past 6 months I have under an hour screentime a day on there, I don't have any video or socials apps on my phone and I don't have an internet browser on their either. It's literally just messaging apps, phone, camera, spotify, banking apps. Just experiencing how hard it's been for me to break away (especially from Instagram) shows me how impossible it is for our kids, and has meant I've instated a pretty much screen free childhood for my kiddo(s), bar the odd family movie day. Digital Minimalism is a really interesting topic, I so so wish I hadn't ever got a smart phone if I'm honest (I held out until 2011 when I was 23)! It'd distracting enough having a laptop!
My kids are adults and spread across the US. I only see them occasionally. My husband has PTSD so their visits unnerve him a bit. I tell him when they are here it’s like filling my empty gas tank as full of gas as it can get!❤ Thanks Lisa your videos are calm and comforting to me ❣️
I’m sorry you only see them occasionally. Some of my kids are spread far and wide and I only see them very occasionally, however, I do have some that still live close. I instigated a family game night last year and it has turned out to be a fun thing that the close ones seem to want to come home for. I wonder if you could do some sort of yearly or every 6 months type of old home week to encourage them to come home for?
@@cynthiafisher9907 Thank you for your thoughts. We do talk often and FaceTime. I like your suggestion but still they live and work too far away I’m happy you can enjoy your children. That’s lovely 😊
So much truth in this video. I've been a homemaker and mom for 21 years and the last few years have been so hard mentally. I've been so overwhelmed that it's taking the joy out of my blessings. I've vowed to get off facebook more than ever and get back to the basics.
Since most of us are both employed outside the home, of course everyone should pitch in, I know too many where mom or dad does the full load, I couldn't have done it all without help, we both had good jobs and wanted to enjoy what time we could with the kids.
Thank you for sharing! I loved how the boys were following you around the yard and garden. It made me smile by reminding me of a mother hen and her chicks going and stopping right behind her. 😊
I relate to this so deeply! It is overwhelming with the amount of social media available at all times. I have stepped back from it lately and feel so much better because of it. I actively follow two other RUclips channels like yours, Little Mountain Ranch and More Than Farmers. There are more, but I find if I try to watch too many, I am not doing, just watching, and that is not my intent. Living intentionally in the moment of an ordinary day is where memories happen and happiness abounds.
I am a grandmother. We all attend church and lunch at my home every week. ❤I count my blessings! We play games and just enjoy each others company on Sundays. We rarely plan anything outside of that time it’s so precious. . Enjoy every moment! ❤
I really enjoy your videos! I am from the Netherlands, we’re a homeschooling family and expecting our 8th😀. Our eldest is 10 and even 10 years ago things were so different! So much has changed, I’m only 34 but I feel like I’m from the old fashioned era looking back over the past 10 years. Smartphones weren’t even a thing (yet)🤣. I really loved this one, you’re so on point❤.
When I take my little grandchildren to the park, nothing makes me sadder than seeing young mothers ignoring their children while glued to their phones. They barely look up from the screens. It breaks my heart.
You are %100 right. I live in a city and I see parents pushing carriages with one hand and scrolling on the phone with the other. Even when crossing a street! My neighbor has 6 children and whenever their father is watching them outside he's on his phone and texting.
I used to think that too but we never truly know what somebody else's life looks like. For some people, that is the only spare moment in their day when they can text back a long distance friend or family member, order groceries online, book a doctors appointment, complete school enrolments, pay bills, research the best 'xyz' for my kids, healthy recipes, run their online business, etc. Smart phones can be bad but they can also be good. In this day and age we experience enough 'parent guilt' as it is, let's try to practice compassion more. 💙
I sure do enjoy your videos. You are such a capable homemaker. My oldest daughter is your age and childless by choice. I lost both of my sisters to suicide decades ago and I sure miss them. Today and made an apple pie, two butternut squash pies (with my homegrown squash), a triple batch of strawberry jam (from my homegrown strawberries), and made up a bunch of pie crusts to have on hand in the freezer. I have a large, organic garden in the mountains of Ecuador. My youngest child is still at home and I am enjoying having two small grandchildren.
I loved your video this week. I’m 59 and my children are all adults with spouses and lives. I am so lucky that they all live relatively near and come over for Sunday dinner nearly every week. I hope that continues and that I will be graced with grandchildren some day. I never thought about the FOMO angle, but they totally echoed that when I brought it up to them! 😂. It was very validating and I know that you are doing all the right things to create that for yourself as your kids move forward. ❤
I don’t think there will ever be a time when your children don’t return home ! You are an amazing mom and I feel sure your husband is as well! Most children aren’t as blessed to have a home to come back to ❤.
Lisa, probably the best video I’ve seen in a long time. Maybe it’s because I’m feeling all these same feels that you are currently. I’m fast approaching 40 and I’m reflecting on where I’ve been and where I am going. We came from a very stressful season in life and I am craving peace in my home. As my older girls are, like yours, in their teens, I am finding myself scrambling to build a homelife that they want to return to and not run from. Thank you for articulating all that’s been on my mind ❤️
May God continue to pour out his blessing on you and your family. This kind of honest truthful post is so needed! It epitomizes godliness with contentment is great gain!! 1 Timothy 6:6
Love this so much! I truly believe social media steals contentment by exposing us constantly to so much more than what we have. If we never knew about it, we wouldnt feel nearly as lacking. Also love what you mentioned about making your life and home so fun, engaging, and happening, that people WANT to engage at home rather than be on their phone. A hefty goal, but interesting idea!
Spot on! I've always wondered why i felt compelled to stay in social media constantly and felt so ashamed. And it's the community aspect I'm missing out on. Thank you for this video. ❤
❤❤❤ I love my life being a House wife ❤❤❤ I did the work hard boss babe thing. I was never happy. I was stressed. Met a man that completed me and I fell into love with my life. The changes in my life are a blessing ❤❤❤
You definitely gave us food for thought. Personally I am not on FB, Twitter, or Instagram and I am the exception to the rule. I recently visited for a few days with my childhood friend of 61 years (70 now) and she is glued to her tablet and scrolling the minute she sits down. I decided this time I would say something to her. So I told her I didn't come to spend time watching her scrolling looking at what other people were doing when I was right in front of her. She stopped, but I'm sure the minute she went to bed she was on Facebook scrolling. It's like an addiction. You have a wonderful family and extended family which guarantee's there will be plenty of kids around. I've been watching your sister's channel and she is just so sweet.
It makes sense to me now, when you explain it about wanting your kids to come home after they grow up. Mine don't, which breaks my heart. I have three children, one is my son-in-law and I have two grandchildren, which is all I will ever have. I rarely see any of them anymore and often wonder where I went wrong. I was a single working mother with little time or energy for socializing or creating that party "vibe" at home, so it makes sense now. I didn't fail...I did the best I could. Many other factors led to the aloneness in my life but realizing that because of circumstances beyond my control it was out of my hands as a young mom. Thanks for the insight Lisa it helps a lot moving forward...and throwing parties!!! 😉
Simpler times were definitely much better. You actually could appreciate everything that you experienced from day to day. Life at times was not easy but at least they were good.
I appreciate this post so much Lisa. Baby 5 on the way in just 8 short weeks and I want to relish all that the summer has for me. Stay in my role of housekeeping but not be too distracted by phones. I do love your channel so much. It always inspires me fills me up and gives me ideas for my week. I can see what you’re saying about others posts and comments. It’s all soo true. And at the end of the day. Does it really matter?! Not really in my personal life. Not the home I wish to create. Not the life I want to repeat for my children. I sure do love your ideas. I might have to try that steak dinner date night. Wow. Xoxo Ellie
This is such a good and relevant video. I have been a stay home mom for over 30 years now. Still have two at home and no grands yet. Time does fly and contentment can only come from God and within. The creativity that comes from stepping away from technology is truly divine. Thanks for your voice.
This video popped up in my feed and had me curious. I loved it, and hearing about the podcast discussion piqued my interest, and I downloaded Erin’s book on audible and have started listening to it, and am loving it, though the implications also feel a bit scary or overwhelming due to the size of change. I wanted to say that your videos refresh and encourage me as a homemaker, especially when I tune in in the morning, before my children are awake, and I’m tending to my home and am thinking about what to prepare for breakfast. The music is always so calming, and soothing. You inspire in motherhood and homemaking and I admire and respect you. I’m a fellow home birth, home educating mom; I have 6 sons ages 12 down to 2, and while we don’t live on a farm, we did move out of the city and built a home on 8 acres 2 years ago, and have plenty of chickens and a few ducks. 😅 Thank you for this video, and others.
Thank you for this. You are so right. We don’t have to know every single little thing. I could keep up with things with just a couple hours every few days and I need to do that rather than think I have to keep up with every single second of what is going on. It is important, but so is every day life.
I've asked you so many times where you get all your energy from and today you revealed your source. Yeah! I was QUICK to order for both my husband and myself. Thank you so much for sharing! I do pray that I am regenerated so that I can get back to doing all those wonderful things I love to do. I don't have children living with us, they are all grown and have children of their own, but I do have a rather large garden, chickens, and several acres of land to tend to, while still maintaining our home. And I've noticed the older I got the more my energy was zapped. NO MORE!!! Thanks Lisa.
I am in my forties and boy is it different how I parent my son, now 18, and my youngest, now 9. I honestly don't like social media at all. I've recently shut off Instagram, am stepping away from anything that trades pieces of my life for profit. I even took your course but it's just not for me. I love that you've found balance in this space but I find the most balance distancing myself from all of it. I come on RUclips once a month and watch for a half hour, that's it.
wow I needed this. mom 32, 4 kids ages 4-12. hate social media and the whole iPad things but still do it and want to stop. this gave me that push! thank you!! xoxox
I'm 62 and after watching your video about social media, I deleted my IG and FB. I actually slept better. So much going on in the world I needed to unplug and step back. Today, I'll harvest my cabbage and make sauerkraut and kimchee in peace. Thank you.
I'm turning 40 and I started my family at 21 and yes I really do miss those days at the park , museum and just taking them to their favorite places to eat. 😢
Great commentary. I left social media about 4yrs ago and my life has only improved. I like to watch RUclips like this, but spend lots of time in what I call The Analog World
Same. I haven't had fb for years. I can still access my Instagram account, but I only left it active so I could view the comments my mom left me. She passed away almost 3 years ago, and I cherish seeing her words on my photos. :) It has been liberating being away from social media. I also watch RUclips, but I'm very selective about who I watch. I don't want any comparison games. My kids are teens and have electronics, but the agreement was no social media. Some think that's harsh, but I think I have saved them from a lot of unnecessary drama.
I am one of your followers who is 60 years old. I had my 3rd child when my first two were teenagers at 15 and 12. I now also have grandchildren who are 7, 6 and 3, and another coming in Sept, so I know exactly what you mean about the changes that take place in society. I wish we could go back to the days before social media when having little children revolved around the stroller and going to the park, library reading hours, baking in the house and reading books before afternoon naps, among other things.
I think we are freely giving up our peace of mind, not necessarily being robbed of it. A small difference that ends in the same place, but puts the ownership on us to take hope of our lives ♥️. Thank you for sharing this!
I’m 63. I sure do miss the days of having a house full of children, cooking non stop, and sleeping hard at night. Now I have more time to keep things super organized and tidy. More time to explore new crafts. Rearranging my furniture instead of buying new. Enjoy every minute. Time FLIES!!!
Me too my friend.
It flies faster than I can keep up with! Smiles
Amen!
@@Graceking7632 and deep into raising 5 kids. Kind of looking forward to my 60s 😅
“Humans are meant to create, and not just consume…”
Soooo true 👏🏼
I loved that comment, she is so correct !!!
I find I have so much more free time when I don't have social media on my phone. Funny how that works!
You probably answered this already, but where are your kids when you record the videos ?
I hear you I am retired now and a widow.. I spend a lot of time on you tube which I really need to step back more from. Fortunately I am not addicted to my phone it's handy when I'm standing in line at the grocery store but that's it I have very few apps on the phone, no games no Pinterest. Anna In Ohio
My kids r 40 36 33 and still come home every Saturdaynight for supper❤
My oldest turns 33 next month and my youngest is 20. We have Family Dinner on Sunday once a month. Where does the time go? 😮😢
What a blessing! I could only pray mine do that.
This is Wonderful..you are blessed...I would love that..
That is my prayer for my four kids one day. That is my test of successful parenting.
Love this :)
I am 72 , Hubby is 73 and every Friday is “ our date day”. We always do something a little different and special from the rest of the days. We are still madly in love and we both look forward to our “ special” day. It’s the very simple things we do that are the most enjoyable.
Love that! Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful idea. I love this!
Wow 🤩 ❤this is beautiful!!!
I always remind myself through the cooking, cleaning, farming and homeschooling…that I GET to do this. It’s a mental game changer.
Amen 🙌🏼
I agree!! I still have social media accounts, but I don't keep the apps on my phone and its truly life changing.
I've kept my children's identities offline and my oldest, 17, still prefers it. Absolutely no photos on Facebook.
July 2016 I permanently quit fake book I mean Facebook.
We were working at home loving our family
Without cable tv either lol let alone internet.
Ur human interaction is right there with u, living in ur house
Ur creating ur interaction with each new baby u birth
And ur husband is ur best friend who comes home after work and doesn’t run off on wkends
@@YeshuaKingMessiah that sounds nice I’m glad that’s how it worked out for you. 🙂
I got off Facebook. Now I’m as happy as can be! 😊
This is so True! We were not created to know about Everything Everywhere…. We Need to pay more Attention to Our Own Lives & our Loved Ones 😎
Amen 🙌🏼 I use this to justify not consuming world news 🙈
I left social media about 3 years ago… no regrets 🙌🏻
Same🙌
Same, its been a long time maybe 7 years now and I still regret I got so addicted to it. I am very careful with even youtube
RUclips is also social media... it's the only one I use but I have the most problem with. It's so addictive.
I was cutting down social media before i had kids but when I had my first son 4 years ago I deleted. Literally deleted everything except pinterest. It was the best decision ever!!! You dont need social media ladies, really you dont.
Im a teen and I really love your videos, they inspire me to have a life like you, to cook and be able to create like that for my future family❤ i hope you see that your content can reach teenagers too❤
Love that...thank you!
I love that you’re already thinking of your future. I was the same at your age but I felt pretty alone in those dreams and goals. It is wonderful that we have people like this to look to for inspiration!
“We are getting robbed of our peace of mind” YES. This video so perfectly summed up exactly how I’ve been feeling thank you, I needed this
We rent and can’t even have plants in the backyard bc our landlord is a pain but I live vicariously through your videos and delicious homemade meals
Glad you like them!
Can you not even have a few outside in containers/pots?😢
I love that. Make your home the place where you get that FOMO, not social media. 😊
U asked how we started having our kids come home every Saturday night for supper?. It actually was their idea. Granddaughters love it here. They even all sleepover. Adults and all. Just enjoy hanging out .
love that!!
43-year-old SAHM and Homemaker here. I needed to hear this so much! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I just finished the opt out family. It’s crazy you’re now talking about. I definitely think it’s the lord pushing me towards a simpler way of living.
Love that!!!!
Send one of those grown girls my way!
This really got me thinking
Well job done, from another momma!
I get it. I have 3 under 5. And I'm 37. I think I would have had way more energy to keep up with them in my early twenties .. and then I'd have a few extra hands around here now. It's the way it was meant to be.
@katrina3560 what's your definition of grown?
I’m a young mom of 2 littles and just deleted social media permanently and it is a gift! I was inspired on the same interview!! As someone who has had it since I was 12 I always thought it was a childish thing. I always knew I wanted to get rid of it as an adult. Better late than never ❤
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your happy memories with us!
I think I watch daily because that's what I wanted my life to be.. like you.
I really enjoyed being a homemaker. My kids are grown so I work outside the home but I thoroughly enjoyed raising my family. I loved this video.
Contentment…..one of my favorite words. Seek it, choose it and enjoy it. 💜
👏👏👏👏👏
My oldest turned 18 in May and my youngest is almost 7. Parenting has changed so much since the 2000s. It’s wild.
My youngest is 33 and my oldest and still in shock that he's 40!.Things are way different since the 90's too. I homemake my home for God.
it really has!!!
I love hosting. So many people hate hosting but I genuinely love it. Making and serving any type of food or beverage brings me so much joy
Yum!
What sweet memories...thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you for sharing with us!
I was just telling my husband I’m over my information consuming era and I want to just be in my contentment era. ❤
Can you volunteer at a community garden, library, or church? I find volunteering if able, so enriching.
Can you apply to move to public housing in a small town? Some smaller towns have units that have little yards or areas for a community garden. Or maybe join a church or a center that has a community garden. I wish you peace and contentment
@@dianewhitmire I volunteer 😊 relay for life.
Your channel is one of my favorites! So peaceful and encouraging. Thank you! ❤
You got this!
I tell him when they are here it’s like filling my empty gas tank as full of gas as it can get!❤
Thanks Lisa your videos are calm and comforting to me ❣️
I’m sorry you only see them occasionally.

Thank you for your thoughts. We do talk often and FaceTime. I like your suggestion but still they live and work too far away
I’m happy you can enjoy your children. That’s lovely 😊
So much truth in this video. I've been a homemaker and mom for 21 years and the last few years have been so hard mentally. I've been so overwhelmed that it's taking the joy out of my blessings. I've vowed to get off facebook more than ever and get back to the basics.
It takes 2 to run a household. Husband's step up and help out!!! Doing dishes laundry and cleaning won't kill you!!!
Exactly!
You are right
Since most of us are both employed outside the home, of course everyone should pitch in, I know too many where mom or dad does the full load, I couldn't have done it all without help, we both had good jobs and wanted to enjoy what time we could with the kids.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for on going wholesome teaching and living. 😊
This was an increadible upload. Amazing, how you still grow inside - such thoughts. Love from Germany 😘
I live in a small IL town of 1200. Same thing at our little park. Children play while mom stares down at her phone.
@@lani3664Somehow those things all happened before smart phones and they can happen again without them.
@@lani3664 well said! We shouldn't make assumptions!
I saw you did this video 3 months ago, but I didn't need it at that time, today I do. Thank you.
Love your kitchen. Thanks for the video ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow. This one really hit home. I completely agree with the overwhelm. Very eye-opening.
Great video! The lack of starting and stopping cues rang true for me. Thank you
Love this so much!
Your daughter's berry cobbler looked so delicious!! I just love watching and gleaning a more simple idea on how to do life.
I so enjoyed seeing you today at the Midern Homesteading Conference in Idaho. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with us!!
That was beautiful. So refreshing to see a content mama. I’m praying we all receive this wisdom from the Lord! Thanks again!!
Creator vs consumer. One is a giver, the other a taker. Aren't we called to be like our Lord, our Creator?
Love this video.
Wow. Xoxo Ellie
I have a 15, and 11 year old and now 9 month old Twins. It is so different than when my oldest was little.
Thank you for this video, and others.
Mom of 13 years here, I totally agree Lisa❤
wow I needed this. mom 32, 4 kids ages 4-12. hate social media and the whole iPad things but still do it and want to stop. this gave me that push! thank you!!
@@bshows14RUclips is social media 😂
@christaalbrecht67 Yes, I realize this, but to me, it serves a different purpose. It's not the constant scrolling. To each his own.
I dont think you'll have a problem getting them to come back with all your delicious recipes 😋
