So I’m assuming you don’t spend hours at a gym. The way you stepped up on that stool and then got back down w/o using your hands was impressive. Look how fit you are and you work your farm, your house and your family. You prioritize God and family and you are a stroooong woman in so many ways. I’m 64 and I hope young women are able to see the value in your lifestyle. You are a rock star
I thought the same thing about the stool.
Right? She seems so strong with great balance.
I agree.
I thought the same thing about the stool as well. But I had another thought, it's dangerous. Get yourself a step stool😊
@@ritahamm1893 I was also very impressed when I saw that, I'm 45 and my knees oh boy. I'm a homemaker that's why I enjoy her channel so much, she really has given me some very good perspectives on what is really important in homemaking and what is just not necessary.
When it comes to busy schedules, there's a quote from Cortney Carver that I love. "Doing more things doesn't make you a better person, it makes you a tired person."
Case in point: my in-laws are too busy (AGAIN) to fulfill family obligations. Sports come first. My family, my children take all the responsibilities that come with having older grandparents. My husband and I alone are moving his parents to a new home this week. Funny enough we're the only homeschoolers in this large family.
My mom always told me this: clutter in the house/car is an indication of what’s going on in someone’s mind. I have never forgotten that ever and that’s why a clutter free, simple house is a must for less anxiety in my life. ❤ thanks again for always inspiring.
My mama said the same thing! And so grateful for it! 💕
We also do not do sports or any evening activities. We homeschool and we like to keep our evenings free for hospitality and to spend with Dad when he gets home from his job as a chaplain at the local state prison. He has a difficult, but important job and we don't want to be busy and stressed in the evenings running kids everywhere. I love not being busy. It's very counter cultural ;)
Plenty in modern culture worth countering! I know some people thrive with the busy schedules, and good for them. But here’s to owning plenty of time at home!
I'm an 82 y/o lady who loves this channel. My life is very different, yet we share a lot. I find I'm subtly influenced by watching these fascinating and rather enchanting videos. They help me to re-frame my daily housekeeping habits. They make life easier, more relaxed. THANK YOU❣love from San Diego county (Encinitas) California.
Hello from a 30 year old San Diego native! I grew up down the street from SDSU. ☺️♥️ My family and I moved to Alabama 6 years ago and then to Georgia 4 years ago, and I sure do miss the San Diego burritos, tacos, and sushi. I love this channel too-as a homeschooling mother of 5 little ones, all under 8! My life is very different from Lisa's as well, though, as we're in a tiny third floor apartment! 😆
Thank you!!
“Perfection can sometimes be a form of procrastination.” WOW, I need some time to process that!
My husband is the middle child. He grew up in a very strict home run mostly by his mother as his father worked shiftwork. His father was never around for him and as a result he has no relationship with him. He would actually hear about his successes in sports through his workmates. And I have to say it has been very hard on our relationship to the point where I think about divorce often. It really warms my heart to see you spend time with your middle son. It will go so far and be so meaningful later on in life. I know my husband is not alone and that a lot of middle children were raised like him but to see you intentionally breaking that generational chain is so amazing. I’m grateful to see it. Thank you Justin.
thank you for sharing that...I'm so sorry that was your experience.
Summer as a kid for me was great. I grew up in the country and I'd run around barefoot in shorts, outside, riding my bike, all of it. I didn't do sports. Took a few weeks total of swimming lessons when I was real young, but no nearby pool either. Totally unstructured time which was great for me. I loved that.
My garden mantra is ”whatever gets done is good enough”. I have to remind myself because I want to do a lot more, I do get quite a lot of vegetables but if I don’t remember my mantra the garden stresses me out. I love listening to you speak about homemaking, Lisa.
In addition to decluttering SO MUCH, even furniture, we moved our little kids' clothes to dresser on the main level. It was such a game changer! They can't dress themselves, are potty training and messy, and I was constantly running upstairs to get their clothes. It made no sense. Now I can put their laundry away and dress them so quickly.
Agree. I made our laundry room into both of my little kids’ closet. I do hang the clothes to dry, so it’s a trip out and back in, but not into bedrooms!
this is brilliant
I like your limited wardrobe. If I had a daughter that sews as well as your daughter, I'd have her sew my entire wardrobe every summer! Ha, ha. So talented. So impressed with the dresses she makes.
Saying NO is a powerful step in maintaining sanity as a mom. It's hard but SO important to set boundaries. 😉
Busyness as a form of procrastination. (love the procrasta-cleaning phrase too ☺️) That is something I will remember and be thinking about!! Well said. ❤️❤️
Listen you spoke directly to me about being busy as a distraction from doing the things you actually need to do but do not want to do. Definitely for me I am the master of procrasticleaning to avoid paper work anything corporate related. You also spoke directly to me about not having to have everything perfect and doing everything all the time. I love your approach to family life and living, going with the flow, appreciating the now and stop aiming for perfection, there is no such thing. Busyness is not the same as productivity. This will definitely stick with me.
Yup! Same here! Needed to hear this message also!! 👌🏼🙏🏼
I totally relate to that urge to google everytime a question pops in my head 🙈
Same!!
I thought it was just me! 😂
Yep I so do this too!
We got rid of cable in 2016. We watch wholesome movies like little house on the prairie. Nothing usually in the summer. Being retired and getting up there in age makes you prioritize 😂
Can’t garden anymore but support our local farmers. Still canning. Got rid of Instagram in January. God really spoke to me about that. You are doing good Lisa sharing because so many people have the wrong idea about what is important. God bless you and your family!
“When I have too much..I have nothing” ..boy Lisa, did this resonate with me👏👏..Love this video..Liz❤
I recognize that Kids Fishing sticker on the fridge! We had those growing up too in mid-MO.
Whenever I hear about online thrift shops my initial response is excitement, but then as I hear more it becomes apparent that we have different ideas about being "thrifty". I will not pay more than $10 for a single tank top, I just won't, much less so a used one. But i will say, ya killing it lady! Your outfits match your personality and you are beautiful.
Oh my gosh, Lisa, you are my hero(ine)!! I've already left FB & Instagram, and just stay on YT. But recently, I've found myself doing the SAME THING!! I happened to have seen something about a month ago that I wished instantly I could unsee. When I kept revisiting it in my mind, I thought, "Maybe that's not even a thing. Maybe that's just hearsay, or fiction, or myth & legend. Just because people believe unicorns are real, doesn't make them real." So in my way, I'm doing the same- waiting a little while to let the icky wash out of my brain, and I do end up forgetting. Little by little, my world becomes smaller, and that gives me my power back. Love ya girl!!! Big hugs!
Congratulations on the baby sleeping through the night and being out of your room! Such a big step for productivity…real sleep!
haha...yes!!
Really useful, thank you! Just what we needed here. We are a home-schooling family of nine (in a moderate 3 bedroom house) and we have been binge watching decluttering videos at the moment, but I love your philosophy, focusing on priorities, on children and time rather than just managing "things!"
I also enjoy your videos. Especially while working. It's great to get advice on how to simplify our lives especially when we are so busy as parents throughout the year. Thank you so much for sharing. You mentioned earlier learning to say no. I think that was definitely for me. You spoke about how its ok to say no sometimes. You have to do what's best for your family. I really needed to hear that. I've been struggling with a decision I made a few days ago and I just been praying am I doing the right thing. Sometimes we want to help our families when they need help but there comes a time when you need to break free because it can be exhausting sometimes especially when your so used to doing something for them all the time. I'm learning that it's ok to say no, especially when I have a family to take care of and I work full time it can really hinder my own time. 😊
I love your level of comfort with “good enough”! It’s such a pleasure to live without all the pressure to be perfect. Thank you for the great content!
Oh my! I can’t believe how big Victor has gotten! He’s such an adorable cherub with his blonde curls ❤️😊
I wholeheartedly agree with picking your family priorities, plus they will definitely change throughout the years! I find that I get older, I love to have a bigger vegetable garden and experiment with different variety of vegetables that I haven’t grown before. This year, we’re growing pumpkins and corn, which I’m so looking forward to eating.
I know what you mean about downsizing with “things” in my living room. I got rid of quite a few books and figurines, but unfortunately, they’ve slowly starting to creep back in. I’ve put my foot down this time and told my family to put them in their bedrooms, since I’ve had it with more things to dust!
As for fashion, I have picked a few trousers, skirts, shirts, jeans and one jacket, that I can interchange and make different outfits with.
Thank you sharing your vlog with us, thoroughly enjoyed it!
thank you!
I love Thredup. Took a couple orders to figure out the sizing of my jeans but now every order has been perfect.
Your videos on night (different time zone here) are relaxing for me. It really calms me down. I just love watching you do things around the farmhouse and it gives me inspiration❤
You are not alone! I google things all day long 🤣
I just adore your videos! This video was great. I am 21 weeks along with my first baby and I am just in total bliss getting ready for our little girl. So excited for a winter snuggly baby. Definitely excited to rewatch your older videos when I am nursing shortly. Your videos are just so relaxing and wholesome. Thanks so much always Lisa.
Congratulations!!
“Let go of perfection.” As a lifelong perfectionist, hearing you say that & seeing how you implement that in your own busy life (and the reasons why) is helping me move forward with lots of decluttering & simplifying!! Thank you Lisa!! You are so inspiring!
thank you!
Your houseplant analogy really hit home! Literally because I have so many houseplants (time to simplify) and figuratively…all those little foxes take up so much brain space and time! Thank you for being lovely friend ❤
As a mom in my mid thirties still renting a small two bedroom apartment with my husband and our daughter, I have a hard time letting go of clutter at this point. We are so close to buying our forever home and it’s looking like a real possibility in the year to come. We love antiques and have a hard time saying no to a really great deal if it’s a piece we love that will be functional for our home someday. Virtually everything we own I love. It drives me crazy that there is way too much storage furniture for the flow of our little apartment but this is just where we are at right now at this chapter. Can’t wait to have our own home and keep it clutter free and functional. Thank you for your tips as always
The garden and canning projects are a passion of mine. I love raising and preserving our food. Then I'm sure of what is in it. Now if I could convince my family to declutter, I could spend more time in the garden. Love your channel.
One of my favorite videos of yours. This was probably the most visual and practical video about how-to live a simpler life. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
We never had sports in our life either until my last grandson came along. He loves ice hockey so he went that way. The other 2 went with music.
Loved that itsy bitsy spider on the vase of your beautiful flower arrangement😊❤
Your sink keeps making me wish we would hurry up and remodel our kitchen. My Aunt and Uncle gave me a vintage sink like yours but it has the dish dryer on both sides of it. It's massive and beautiful. We do so much canning and I also wash all our dishes. This sink will be a lifesaver. Great video. I've learned to definitely say no and to prioritize things i love doing and as far as cleaning, yeah I hate it. I do it so my family doesn't have to live in a pig stye, but it's not anything i do everyday all day. 😂😂😂
Hi Lisa I love listening to you because you’re so right. Love your advice, thank you for sharing 😊 love your beautiful farmhouse.
Thank you so much!
I have two kids and we also nixed the sports- after doing them when they were 4 (t-ball) 5 (soccer). We decided spending every weekend doing sports practices and games was just not for us! What a joy it was to do other things with our weekends! Once your child is in high school, I think that is when kids really choose what they want to do with extra curricular activities. PS: I am so impressed how you were able to just step up on that stool! 1:52!!
Lisa 🩷what a GREAT Video!!!! Definitely one of my favorites of yours and I will be rewatching over and over. Honestly I have too much stuff in my house Lisa so I thank you for the encouragement to start letting go of things. God bless your family 🩷🩷🩷🙏 and yes to letting go of perfection because I am definitely a perfectionist!
Thank you so much!!
If I ever built my own home I would put a main floor bath, laundry and space for a full size dresser all in one.
Smart!
You make so much sense, my biggest fault is procrastination. I’ll just have to try harder. Thank you for such beautiful videos, I look forward to each one. ❤
I love your baby. I am watching you from the other side of the world from Syria near Palestine. You are blessed because you get to have many babies and watch them grow. Where I live most kids are hungry in Palestine they just die.
We certainly are thankful for our freedom here.
I needed this video. I think I do cleaning instead of my calendar and desk work. I feel overwhelmed with desk work, but then it piles up like crazy and I’m even more overwhelmed. I’ve been watching RUclips videos with FlyLady, but I know myself. I have never been able to meal plan! What makes me think that I can plan, schedule, and order my life? 😂 My home is uncluttered and tidy; except for where I stuff things think cabinets and drawers. Also, I’m a prepper, so one room is designated to that and freezers. I still find it overwhelming and I loved what you said about the silent to do list. Thank you Lisa!
I went capsule wardrobe and have never looked back. I have clothes that I feel good in and don’t have to spend time thinking about what I’m going to wear that day. It all works together!
Th laundry hack is something that I'm going to for sure implement!!!🎉
Dave Ramsey is amazing and I have learned so much from him thru the years.
We sold our big custom home, bought 50 acres and built a smaller home, and all cash too.
We raise beef cattle, dairy cattle, hogs, turkeys and chickens.
We are almost 100% debt free and man does it feel amazing too.
We buy everything with cash, and no credit cards
Rule of thumb for a big purchase: wait 24 hrs and pray about it. Americans have the attitude of instant gratification and they've lost the idea of saving up for things, and the feeling you have when you can finally go buy it.
Thankful for your channel
Blessings from Texas ❤
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing with us.
Good morning Lisa! Love your beautiful home! God bless your family! 😀❤️🙏🏻
Thank you so much!
Your home is so lovely! What amazing mom you are
The simpler, the better. Great looking food!!!
I totally understand why your kids aren’t often super visible in your videos; I listen to your podcast 😂 but it was nice in this video to be able to see more how your home actually moves throughout the day. Expecting my first baby in January and leaving work to stay at home in November 💙
Congratulations!
I’m always looking for more ways to simplify. I find so much peace in that. ❤
I just got done reading “Hard is not the same thing as bad” great book!!! I really like Abbie ❤
Your content is so encouraging! Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. It’s refreshing and grounding, and by comparison it makes me realize how other content doesn’t make me feel so good. I’m getting married this fall and content like this and your last few videos on cooking flow have me sooo excited and inspired for this upcoming chapter of life!
❤ While watching I thought of my grandmother who had 8 children, how she managed and how lovely her home must have been. 😊 She had 6 boys, 2 girls and currently they’ve all passed on to Heaven. But the traditions and recipes they taught me live on in my own family - hopefully passing down to my daughters. Thank you for sharing with us!
How wonderful to hold their traditions, memories and recipes close!
Thank you for this encouragement. I have so! Much! Stuff! Sitting on almost every flat surface. Trying to organize but its so difficult and i want to push it off as long as i can
Thank you for sharing. 😊
I'm the same way about googling things!! moreso than social media. I've had to limit it too.
I don't meal plan either, but I always have meal items to prepare
Как в Вашем блоге уютно и спокойно! 🥰
My kids are grown now, but when they were little, the boys got all the same white socks. And the girls got different from the boys, but same white socks. They were close enough in size I could get away with it for a long time. And I agree about quitting sports, or anything you're not passionate about. I found myself running around to practices and lessons that the kids didn't even care about. (Yes, it's good to try something new and stick with a commitment; but when the season is over is a good time to evaluate what to spend your family's time on.)
So cute that your son came over to help when pulling meat from the freezer for the week! I see he likes bacon! Every now and then I'll send one of my boys to the freezer and its always fun to see what they come back with! (We also buy 1/2 a cow about once per year.)
Starting next week will be the first time we have actually had a kid in sports in years. Our youngest of 4 is starting freshman year and my husband signed him up for cross country. I haven’t had a kid in sports since little league. I can’t say I’m completely convinced this was the right thing but my youngest is shy without friends. So my husband hopes it will help him connect to other kids and have a group. I hope he’s right. I don’t have a lot of time in evenings. We get up at 4:30 am and so we usually go to bed early.
Parenting will definitely keep you on your toes...sometimes you need to change things up to find what is most helpful for your children.
I love that you were reading Abbie’s book!! She’s such a role model for me too!
I stopped stressing about things being immaculate. While I don’t have children, I do have pets that are my kids lol and keeping up with messes is a FT job. But I try to practice giving myself grace. We are clean, the house is pretty clean and I do what I can while I am able. ❤
Dave Ramsey followers here too. We've been debt free since 2015, except for our business and that property...but just this week paid that off. So, now completely debt free - personal and business. Age 43 and 7 children.
Congratulations!
Always enjoy your videos. I also follow 2 of your sisters. I don't know if you have any more. That does it or not, but I also enjoy their videos. So thanks for sharing. I love big families, so I have 5 Children of my own biological. I'm so blessed and I have seven adopted.I would not trade for the world.I am currently rising My 1-year-old and two-year-old I've had them since birth. I feel so very blessed to have 12 children. I fell as if God allowed me to raise these beautiful children. And it's just such an honor to have them. And my husband and I have twenty two Grandchildren from the ages of 21 to 3
What are the sisters’ channels’ names? thanks :)
@@madisontaylor4296 our oily house Think it's called little bit of sunshine. Or something about sunshine? I really enjoy watching her. I think she's one of the younger sisters. She just has one child, but they're all good.Enjoy all the channels

@@Dana-mb1hd thank you!!!
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing with us!
So glad I watched this video! Gave me such inspiration to write things down and talk with my husband about this ❤️🙏🏽
I'm so glad!
Thank you Lisa!!🙏💝
Thank you for sharing these 9 tips. Homemaking is so important, and finances are too! Thanks for sharing Dave Ramsey with your viewers. Love your videos! ❤
I LOVE thredup 🙌🏼 fashion is not a priority for me either so I simplify clothing in every way possible!
Absolutely, you are a ROCKSTAR 🤎a beautiful mom and family 🤎always inspired by your videos🤎Monica from Norway🇳🇴
thank you!
Wow. Seriously cleaning while wearing my workout clothes. Lol. Great thoughts!
Happy Friday! ❤️
You’re definitely not crazy! I do the impulsive and compulsive google too. I recall being in grad school, so like 2008ish. We were discussing something and no one knew the answer. Someone had a smart phone and googled something in class and the professor was so blown away.
Packed full of good information with the lovely background of you doing what you do every day. ❤❤
I think meal planning is useful for smaller families to be more strategic with grocery shopping without food going to waste. Eating fresh and from scratch is also hard to make economical for small families because fresh food spoils and there are fewer mouths to eat it in a timely manner. I have been thinking about why I cant seem to achieve a stocked, fresh life and I think I realized when its 2 adults and 2 small children, food waste is much more of a problem. Im just saying this in case anyone else is in the same boat and wondering why it might not be working for you, too. Theres nothing more sad than $10 half gallon raw milk going down the drain because your little family couldnt get to it fast enough (whereas pasteurized, even with its problems, lasts a month). 😭
Thank you 😊
You are very wise, and practical, and it is a joy to view your videos.❤
Welldone. You're You're very strong
Lisa this video was so insightful. I listened to you while I got some housework done and I kept saying to myself, "YES!!"...especially when it came to perfection being a form of procrastination. I agree, that there are certainly seasons in life for different things, and clutter certainly clutters the brain. I'm so impressed by your beautiful onions you braided in a recent video, and by your gorgeous potatoes! while I'm an avid & experienced gardener, I have yet to be successful in growing big onions, or big potatoes! i keep trying though!~ Will you be growing garlic this fall? I love your videos. While I don't have much time to watch others vids as I work, have a family, and run my own RUclips channel, I always make time to get to your video each week, even if its just listening while I work or weed my garden. Thank you, and take care! -Steph 🌱
Thank you so much!!
You hit the nail on the head Lisa! Thanks!
Great tips, I was listening to this while procrasti-mowing. Gave me lots of food for thought.
Where do you find all your furniture?? It’s beautiful! Even noticing the twin poster beds in the kid’s room they are so sweet.
Mostly Facebook marketplace!
Always love hearing your perspective on things. Such good stuff here!
Yes. Priorities are primary. Wish I knew that when I raised my eight. They are doing a better job as parents than I did.
I love all your videos so much. You are so relaxing to watch. The only comment I really have is that you should raise up your kitchen curtains so the bottom of the curtain sits on the sill. The way they hang over looks weird.
haha...a most controversial choice!
@@FarmhouseonBoone haha totally. Just watched your newest video. They look sooooo much better. My daughter and I watch your videos together. You’re the best ❤️
Love what you shared here! Thank you for your wisdom ❤️
all the details are so pretty:) the stripes, the florals, the textures. I love it.
Thank you so much!
My husband and I want livestock, at a gut level, but we realized that we really want to be able to take the kids on winter adventures in the farming off-season, and it is much easier to leave a winter garden than it is to leave a stable full of animals. So that means we probably either need to board other people's animals on our land for the summer or butcher all our animals in fall. We're not in a great place to start breeding our own stock, while we still want that easy off-season mobility. Edit: Those priorities may change.
I understand!
Hahaha, your baby stuffing a phone charger in his toy! They can make a toy out of anything!😊 woah, that plane looks like fun! Found myself ducking, lol! You are very wise Lisa, love your son climbing the counter next to you and talking to you! It’s just me and the hubby and I miss the voices of my boys or grandkids hanging around. I get lonely for them. Great idea about toddler clothes, way to use your space and have it function your way!!! I’m with ya on the dusting thing, actually I think i’m with ya on everything you said!!!👍🏼
thank you!
My boys are not into sports at all. They did bowling club in the homeschooling group and not much else. I've been wearing Doc Martens since 1996. LOVE them. Cool you got a thrifted pair like that. They last for so many years, right?!? I had one pair for 11 years. I love what you said about giving up perfection in certain areas and how that is a good thing.
Great video, a lot of useful ideas. I especially like what you said: perfection is a form of procrastination.
What a lovely house and piece of property:) You can do so much with that property. The flowers add a nice touch to the rooms😀
Beautiful video Lisa and such important advice/things I want to think on!🙌 Also I love your approach on baby sleep training/being in no rush for it....and I'm happy for you that it's now a success!( I struggle in that area of transitioning my babies too because have such a bond with them when they're born and I've enjoyed co-sleeping/bedside sleeping). But man yes I can relate on the freedom when they are finally in their own room too!
Girrrrl. The Lord is speaking right to me through this video. Dang! I hear you Lord!
Love your wisdom Lisa ❤
I love your flowers!
I would LOVE a video about newborns and how you cope with that stage. I just had my second child and she is 3 weeks old. I am exclusively breastfeeding and she only sleeps an hour at a time at night. It’s so challenging to give my 4 year old what he needs during the day because I’m so exhausted. Any tips?!
Give yourself grace...take as much of a break as you need. Baby wearing has been great for me and the babies as well as freeing up time for your other children. Include your little one in what you are doing and take a break with them and read a book they choose. This stage is short lived.
The "kiss me, im organic" sticker😂 I love it
