My air fryer. I avoided it for years because I didn’t want another cluttery kitchen appliance. I literally use it every day for almost a year now. I make entire meals at once with much less cleanup. I line it with foil and it’s so easy. Also my bird house/feeder. Always wanted one but didn’t want to spend the money. For $20 the enjoyment I get from it is invaluable. Lol.

There are so many sweet and savoury things you can do in an air fryer. My Dyson was so heavy, I couldn't manage lugging it around any more. I bought a lightweight cordless GTech Air Ram that does the job and I can lift it with one hand, even me with my dodgy hands! That was a win! I have a smaller handheld version by GTech, too, that I use for curtains and upholstery. Three cats get everywhere. I've also heard Shark recommended. I'd always look at what Dyson had to offer, though, if I were in the market to buy another one.

On the topic of cameras, I spent quite a chunk on a rear view camera for my vintage RV. I love having it, because it allows me to drive with far more confidence than before. Not cheap to buy or have professionally installed, but well worth it to me. Another big expense is paying vet bills for pets. I am investigating making homemade for them which would likely be healthier than commercial brands. Finally, my bills from my local School of Dentistry. Going to the Dental School means their fees are about half that of a local dentist. I pay for the very best quality dentistry I can afford, which has served me well for more than forty years. Other than those three items, I make it a point to buy everything else used but in excellent condition. I have been a life long mindful frugal prepper, so going to the grocery store is pretty much optional, because I always shop at home first. Prepping is the best way to mitigate inflation and shortages. I am now focused on growing food in my garden.

The glass food storage containers which remain were one of our better purchases. We shuffled through some which didnt remain and those were useful while they and thier lids lasted, until i found what honestly stacked well within my cupboard spaces, etc...As i typed this comment, i realized some must be coming up on at least 20 years yet i don't regret those that went by the wayside because i bought conservatively in number over time from a mix of new and used sources.
More recently, we bought some 2qt canning jars to put big bag dry good in from the free 5 gal buckets. These as the $2/ each max thrift store and garage sale glass jars and canisters were drifting to be a good $4/ each except for the rare find. I have my glass containers on the shelf located out in the pantry located in the detached garage with food stuffs pretty darned safe, nolonger have to pull and balance a much heavier 5 gsl bucket, and the anagst of filling a container without spilling is gone. When a container of food is empty, all it takes is a walk to the garage to grab another and eventually get the washed and dried empties back out. Im not sure weve fully received our fiscal return on investment yet but it sure is a convient time saver that in a Marie Kondo way brings warmth and solace to my heart which is working well enough i expect them to be around for years to come.

Good morning - Glad you brought up updating computer equipment. Routers and modems should be updated at least every two years. If you 'rent' through your provider it is really easy to swap out for an updated version. It is better for them for you to be updated. Also, another 'free' computer tip. be sure to clean out your desk top pc with compressed air, the fans collect a lot of dust and it can effect how your computer functions, you can easily google a tutorial. Have a good day everyone.

I got a Shark corded stick and this is the best I've ever had as it's corded it doesn't lose any power, the cord is long enough that I can do the entire home without having to unplug it, my double drawer air fryer is my new best friend :) last one is my tea for one set, a mini teapot that sits on top of a tea cup with a saucer and holds just enough for 1.5 cups of tea, being English I love a good cuppa tea first thing in the morning, then a decaf before bed.

Hi Kate, happy Frugal Friday and hugs to Kaden. I am on my third Keurig, i have a narrow one now and I love it. My only complaint is it needs a thorough cleaning often. My best purchase in the last few years is my Ninja Foodi 12 in 1. It cooks rice, air fries, pressure cooks, and sautes. It has a steam and crisp setting. It also has a slow cooker but I am not fond of that. The lid is attached so you don't have to twist it on. Expensive but i use it almost daily. Another purchase I will continue is a good pair of runners (sneakers, running shoes, I forget what they are called in the US.) It helps with shin splints and plantar fasciitis.

I will splurge on nice jeans and shoes that fit well and are comfortable. If you like fancy coffee and want to make it at home, consider an aero press. We also have a coffee grinder and milk frother for lattes, so it probably doesn't take up any less counter space when in use (they all stow in the cabinet when not in use). We also have a Dyson but I'd say the cost per use at this point is pennies. We have had it for probably 12 years and it still works great with regular maintenance.

The random clearance chair cushion that literally saved my butt when the basic office chair I got pre-pandemic did not handle 8 hr wfh well. My toaster oven that fits a regular size frozen pizza gets used more than my standard oven. YNAB, I know there are free options, but it just works for me. I heartily second owning your modem and router over renting from the cable company. I've had my modem 6+ years and current router even longer, at $10/mo rental fee I broke even years ago. Battery powered lawnmower is low maintenance, easy to start, and I never have to mess around fuel.

I also have a Simple Human rubbish bin for my kitchen! A lot of money but such a brilliant solution to my issues with trash! I loved it so much that I bought a small pedal bin for my bathroom. And I think they will last me for the rest of my life!
Another expensive thing that is a total life upgrade for me is my Dyson hairdryer. I have fine, flyaway hair and this hairdryer is way ahead of anything else on the market in consumer tests. It should be, for the price, which will put a lot of people off, but I love mine. It's fast and quiet and dries my hair on the lowest heat possible without damaging it.
For me, the best mattress I can find and good quality shoes that are comfortable as well as attractive are two of my favourite top value purchases. I needed a new mattress last year and bought a Best Buy recommended by Which? (UK consumer organisation that runs tests on products) but I'm having to send it back. I've just bought another Tempur mattress. When you have chronic pain, you *have* to have the best mattress you can afford or you may not be able to function. I can't wait for the delivery! Sleep is 1/3 of our life, if we're doing it right. And shoes, well, we're on our feet quite a lot, aren't we? Rushing around, life is busy. It's worth paying more for comfort (especially when you find a company that produces stylish designs without compromising on comfort).
Something else I love is my Amazon Fire TV stick, which gets me all the terrestrial channels and all the free digital ones. If I want to subscribe or take up a free trial to another streaming service like Netflix, I can watch Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ or Apple TV+. It even has a lot of more obscure specialist streaming services that you can subscribe to and watch using this device.
Kate, it sounds like you and I have decided that there are certain things that it makes sense to us to buy as an investment in making our lives easier and more pleasurable. Your coffee machine in my house would be my fancy blend of green tea. Mornings would not be right without it!
Warmest and best wishes to you, Kaden, and the cats! Have a brilliant summer! And now I'm going to read what other people have to say in these comments!

A burr coffee grinder and a coffee maker with adjustable temperature on the warming plate: specifically these two things have made making coffee at home the best option. The coffee grinder felt like an expensive purchase upfront, but I have used it for many years with minimal maintenance and no problems. If it died tomorrow, I'd order another one immediately.

But when we go on vacation then I do the membership for that time period LOL. I have been looking for a new trash can as well. I didnt catch which one you got? I was thinking one of those nice metal ones that are odor proof. Also, I probably need a router Thank you so much bc the exact thing has been happening to me and I was thinking it was ATT but now that I think about it my router is like 10 or so years old LOL

We have a number of Harbor Freight Tools, black mesh, 60%-70% UV ray blocking, sunshade tarps which we've collected over the course of a number of years and to the very last one have been good purchases. We've used them where we've lived from on the roof to the exterior windows, eaves to shade the house siding as well as the windows, around porches and the covered back deck, and we've even hung them from the trees (and other things) to create temporary as well as season long cooler spaces out doors. At other's places installed them as curtain liners, porch/ deck wraps, cut and taped onto exterior windows (a PIA requiring tape replacement at least once per month and acetone to remove tape residue from the glass in the fall but in conjunction with other measures worth the health cinditin needed 20+ degree temp drop in that apartment). Suggested them to a friend with parents in an Arizona retirement community to assist the a/c, one became many, and about the time the HOA came knocking many other houses began to use them too; last we heard more houses have at least one than don't in that community. BTW If you use them right side out only only do they work better but you can see out while others have troubles seeing in.

Have you found that any stores or sites have better prices / quality / variety of options for the sunshade tarps?

      @terryhenderson424 4 часа назад

@@username00009 i poked around on line in either '21 or '22. My, my, my there were a LOT of options. I do remember seeing rolls heavy enough to need a forklift, different claims of UV ray percentage protection, different weights per either sqft or skin, and a wide variety of dimensions. What I did not see were the textile bounded by tarp tape like Harbir Freight Tools'.

My Roomba robot vacuum. I’ve had 4 now - 2 died within the warranty period and this last one is 2 years old now and still going strong. It has a dock that sucks the dirt out into a bag that I dispose of once every 2 months or so. Meanwhile I ignore it as it vacuums my whole apartment every day.
I still have a Dustbuster for small things like the back of the couch, crumbs in the freezer or windowsills and a canister vac that I use once in a while but mostly it’s my faithful little robot.
I will replace it with a new one when it dies. No question. Wish I’d bought one years earlier because it’s such a game changer.
