    I thought my Z had an issue, and I've noticed in this vid, your oil has a red tint to it just like mine. I've combed the planet trying to figure this out. My Z is a 2009 with 250k on it, yes 250,000 miles and not being bias, runs like it just came off the line. But it has been taken care of since its birth, oil is changed every 1000, and I've always seen the oil even after its first few thermal cycles, that it gets that same red tint to it. I've used mobil 1 in all my vehicles for decades, and this car is the only one that gets a red tint to the oil. Very odd. Anyhow, tip for those of you watching this vid, if your ever at a stop and you smell what smells like a freshly blown out candle wick, do as this fella is doing and change your valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube gaskets, because what's happening is the tube gaskets on these are notorious after some higher mileage to leak, and the leaks will fill your spark plug tubes to where the smell your smelling is the oil getting hot and burning in the tubes. In heavier leak cases, the oil will drown the coil on plug causing a misfire. Just fyi in case yall are having the same issue and I wanted to pay it fwd with this tip specifically for these cars.

    How’d the Z1 ignition coil packs turn out? I assume you went for the high energy coils? I’m curious to know if you saw a benefit! Thanks for the super helpful video!

      I cant tell if it's an actual power benefit, but scientifically, I would guess it's more of a complete burn. Probably would notice a power change if you had some pretty bad spark plugs in combination with it. I would just get them if it was time to change them out anyways! Thanks for watching:)

    did you use rtv in the corners when you reinstalled da cover?

      I didnt. I know you are supposed to but I've never had issues unless it was way down the line. We also had some cold weather coming so it would have taken too like to dry.

    Where did you get the gaskets from ?

    • @BBnissanZ

      The ones from oreighlies work well and they feel like good quality. I paid right around 46 or 50 for both.

    also, how long did all of this take in real time, couple hours?

      It took I would say 2 hours to do one side. But I don't do this stuff as a job so probably could be done faster

    Whats the point of degreasing the gasket surface if you’re just going to put oil on the gasket?

    • @BBnissanZ
      @BBnissanZ  7 месяцев назад

      Just to get all the previous grime off of it. You want a clean, smooth surface to apply the new gasket and sealant to the corners.
