- SAICT issued many penalty tickets to riders caught misusing the exclusive bus lane.
The ticket acts as a penalty and a deterrent against doing the same thing again.
Apprehended riders were sent forward to the lay-by where they can be safely ticketed, without causing any traffic.
In the past, I’ve seen various enforcement agencies try to “wave” violators out of the bus lane. But the result was always the same…
Once the violator got past the enforcers, he immediately went back inside the bus lane.
That’s why the tickets are being issued and the operations are being held at random times, in random locations - to remind people that even if they don’t see an enforcer, they should still respect the exclusive bus lane, which hundreds of thousands of commuters are relying on.

It is crazy how people argue when they get caught in the bus lane. 90% of the people know that it is only for buses but still try and get out of the ticket. I respect the enforcers for giving out tickets no matter the weather.

Filipinos have no integrity nor the accountability regarding rules. They have the sense of entitlement that such rules dont apply to them for they are special and above such laws.
Part of the "Pacencia na" mindset, Enforcers are detaining so many anyway, why not take pity and let some of them get away just this one time? is what they are hoping to appeal too

Increase the penalty to P15K and suspension of license for 1 year for the first offence, let's see how these will play out.
I don't ride motorcycles, but I would be the devil's advocate (if you can call it one in this case). 1 year suspension for the first offense is a bit harsh especially if the offender is new to the area. I know there are a lot of signs and warnings so it's almost impossible to miss but it can still happen.
For the second offense, yeah even if they increase it to 100k and 5 years suspension I don't care.
Btw not suspending them is a good way to increase the government budget (I just hope they use it well).
Yes 15k is just right but I would move to the license suspension to 3 months as 1 year is too harsh I agree there as well. But the 15k is just right, not too high and not too low either of an increase but definitely noticeable and would be quite a statement. The past months have proven they do not fear the 5k penalty fee.
People will still drive even with no license. IMO the best solution is to impound their vehicles.
3months violation seems fair. This is to enforce the main quote "driving is not a right".

Ironic that they cry na "pasakit para sa mga mahihirap" whenever new traffic/road rules for motorcycles are implemented to promote discipline. Yet here they are regularly getting caught for a 5k ticket violation that even private vehicle owners are wary of.
They should have an lto officer manning with the saic. So they can impound motor vehicles with no drivers license and plates

Anti poor is an argument i always found to be stupid. You want the fines to be as high as possible because you want people to NOT break the law, not give a "eh di naman masyado mahal eh ok lang yun" mentality

Solution: Impound the vehicle/motorbike, immediately revoke the driver's license, and impose a six-month suspension and a fine of P10,000.
Impounding area will be full by sun down.

There should be additional penalties for drivers who intentional or unintentionally covering or tampering their plates. All the details on the license plates should be visible / readable at all times.
1st offense : 20,000
2nd offense : 50,000
3rd offense: revocation of license plus impound....

They should be sent back the other direction. Make them do a u-turn the other direction. This should be part of the penalty.

Petition na taasan pa ang 5k penalty, mukhang di sila natatakot sa 5k e. I suggest they increase the first offense penalty from 5k to 10k + 1month & 1day confiscation of license. I bet this would teach them a lesson that no one is above the law.

suggestion: put BARRIER all the way for the BUS LANE, or like a higher HUMP so the motorcycle will have a hard time swerving thru them
There are overhead signs, road-level signs, lane markings etc..
Most of the bus lane is protected by barriers, but they had to be removed from the flyovers and tunnels for safety reasons.
They tried plastic bollards but people just drive straight over them.
They tried metal bollards but they kept getting knocked down.

Aside from the buses, they still need to allow access for police cars, police motorcycles, ambulances etc.

These MC riders are so rich. What are their profession? They have so much money to spend compared to the 4 wheel drivers.
You can buy many things with P5000 : Cellphone, Bicycle, used MC, Lechon, Groceries, 80 liters of petrol, a good change oil, Tuition for your your children and yet they give it all away just to pass through the bus lane in under 10 seconds.
Many people underestimate how much an MC taxi rider can earn in a day.
Especially habal-habal, they can earn even more by overcharging their passengers.
I know many low-mid level office workers that take home less than full-time MC taxi drivers.

Cause they get use every lane, yet still need to use the bus lane, bike lane and even sidewalks, though obviously wrong they still argue...
Are they all apprehended especially if there are multiple violators. Are they all accounted for by our officers or some are lucky and not get caught?
They try to apprehend as many as possible. But when there's a LOT of riders at one time, and they all swerve back to the regular lanes, it can be difficult to catch every rider.

Motorcycles are the top violator of the EDSA bus lane. That's why you'll see more motorcycles being apprehended.

those who cover their plate no. must be fined 10k for first offense 20k for 2nd and 30k for 3rd and go on.
Personally I think concealed or removed plates should result in instant impounding.

Haven't You got it yet? This ticketing system is only for collecting money, not to implement rules to keep traffic safe.

@@GadgetAddict can't a gutter type barrier work? Low enough for emergency vehicles to roll over without damaging the under chassis, but high enough for MC's to cross. then put reflective paint on it so it will be seen at night.

i watch where these cars and bikes part on footpath and it,s only 1000 peso it should be 5,000 peso and see how many part on footpath this also includes if they show a license and hit the ones who have no plate or cover them up
Yeah the penalties for illegal parking are ridiculously low.
And the drivers know that the MMDA are stretched so thin, that it will be weeks or months before they return to the same street.
So they treat it more like a parking fee, instead of a penalty.
Imagine if you can park on the road and only get caught once every 2-3 months... that's extremely cheap parking.
Of course people won't give up space on their own lane, or build a garage, or use paid parking, when they can use the road for such a low price.
