it is but it isn’t, they tell you before every game who tonight’s referees are & they do it for every league. we as fans can help the leagues hold refs accountable by naming exactly which ones we think aren’t doing their jobs the best, but in this day & age it can go way too far.

Professional and even college sports have been rigged for centuries. With more gambling, more money why would it stop? Some things are clear and not just in hoop. It’s all business entertainment based but you can look at drafts, coin flips for #1 picks no one witnessed, trades (stars in different jerseys more $$$), they interview coaches during games including the playoffs and finals while now starting to interview players, if it were real hoop that would never be considered. The nba, mlb, nfl, nhl are all registered as entertainment just like the wwe and it’s not just to save $$$. The lakers & celts have almost more or more titles than the whole league, that’s not just cause they happened to get the right players. It’s all business entertainment based sports so that’s what it’s going to be geared towards which is more viewers, more merchandising and people in the know make $$$ on wins or losses. No 1 referee was ever fixing games by himself. People question why teams passed on Luka when it was obvious they wanted the new European star to replace the old European star who would be leaving Dallas just like I told people last year the Spurs would get VictorW for not only the French Connection but the TDuncan heir apparent. Wouldn’t be surprising if Kerr ends up coaching there.
You can pull up on RUclips the first draft lottery and while it’s acknowledged you can see how they made sure Knicks got that first pick.
Most nba & pro teams are not really trying to win a championship. People blame incompetence when it’s about a product that people want to see and a bottomline. Just like a horse race, every horse in the race is not there to win.
I could go on for days and not just about wins but moves. No league has any kind of rules that insures that all teams try to win to the best of their abilities

The american/Canadian media laughed at the very idea saying they had the best refs in the world and they would never cheat for their homeland.
Problem is with your stance is you are talking about international competitions where there are referees available from many countries. This is an American league in American cities with American refs. You could not allow referees born in a city to ref games played by that city. But where you draw the line? If you were born in NYC, then moved to Charlotte and Miami as a kid and went to college in Indiana and are now living in LA, which of these associations are unnaceptable. And will it do anything?

Why would any referee fix games for a specific team when you can just fix the over/under. Just bet the under and don't call many defensive fouls. Or you can do the opposite. Last night Miami and Denver combined for just 22 free throws. The under hits. This is not complicated. Any bias towards players probably comes from social media blowing up every time Lebron doesn't get a call. If a ref misses a call against Doug McDermitt, nobody cares. And if I misspelled Doug McDermitt, nobody cares about that either.

NBA rigging has gone on for years.
Two years ago, games 1 & 2 Raps vs 76ers was all one sided after that game 2, the games were officiated much closer due to all the complaints.
Sometimes, stars can get away with murder during a series.

NBA, with all its budget, should have had their own team taking care of controversies like this, and come out and defend the ref themselves and proving that with real stats instead of this nonsense, it just destroys the legitimacy of the sport

The lakers refs in that golden state series were def on lakers side. Lakers had like 65 more points on free throws than gs. Kinda demoralized gs and probably played a factor in the terrible shooting in game 6. without those refs, gs won in 5 100%. Theres always gonna be bad calls, but these days its pretty redicoulus. U know theres a ton with hands in cookie jars for most all games.

Expecting New England teams not to cheat is like putting candy in front of toddlers and expecting they won't take any. That's why whenever its a team around there its instantly one billion times more suspicious.

Just because the Celts were good doesn't mean that there couldn't be bias. To determine bias you would want some type of difference vs some hypothetical replacement and even that isn't a perfect measure.

I think refs might get kind of petty dealing with players because the gap in pay is so huge between them. The highest paid nba ref makes half the nbas minimum salary for players, most make from a quarter to a tenth.
Sure, you don’t have to physically endure as much in training or in game, and you don’t need to be inherently genetically gifted. But you are still playing on the same floor, on the same night with the same emotions in play.
Not saying refs should get paid THAT much more, but with the amount of money the NBA as a whole brings in you’d think they’d be better taken care of. You try making reasonable decisions when you’re getting cussed out by someone half your age making 200x what you do to miss a layup.
