  • Before we start to configure our devices we need to figure out which Button mode is going to be the most useful for each of our devices buttons!!!
    One of the Hidden Gems is how you can reconfigure the Joysticks to get the best Mode of operation for every Button and Switch on your joystick!

      I agree. U present as if you wrote thing. Great job. I think you need to find some time to organize these 1-13 videos in its own playlist along with a few other device and bespoke planes and promote them a bit more. This is like a platform we all heard about but don’t know how to master.

    Wow. You really have spent a lot of time on this platform. I will keep going until I complete your 12 or 13 videos

      I would still use the Spad UI for all the categories.. Find the ones that apply to the Controller or Plane that your working with .. Sometimes even though it is a different plane but your control it helps or vice versa could be a different controller but the plane your trying to sort out..

    I knew there had to be a way to sync the taxi light toggle for the C414. Incredible! This also shows how ridiculous MSFS's random coding of switches and their current state is. I haven't touched X-Plane in awhile, but if I recall, they had it right. Thanks!

      Well there are a lot of add ons for XPlane that need some help :) and plenty of users of Spad use it with XPlane as well. So don’t worry plenty of people in the XPlane section of the discord to help out with questions regarding it.

      @@LesOReilly Yeah I forgot about that. Been a long time since I've use XP. BTW, with your help, I've also setup my Parking Brakes (button) so that they will only set or release if my toe brakes are depressed. Spad is truly an amazing piece of software! Your tutorials are a tremendous help. Can be a little confusing at first, but when a newbie sticks with it and watch them a few times, things really start to click 😂

    Les,
    I have thoroughly enjoyed your New User tutorial series. You have made understanding Spad.neXt a much simpler process. I have been using SPAD primarily in X-Plane, but since the release of MSFS, I am trying to get a grasp on the differences that MSFS presents. Your explanation of those differences thus far is extremely helpful. One of the properties of SPAD that still causes me confusion is the use of Longmode and Shortmode activation and deactivation vs the Long and Short button presses. I was hoping in a future video that you could offer an explanation of the differences between the two. Thanks again for all you do. Looking forward to future tutorials. Rick S

      Will Do Rick -- They make more sense when it comes to the Buttons on the Multipanel that have lights so that when something is activated like the mode it will externally trigger the Event... Not so much when you are pressing the button... So you could use it combined with conditions to do other events when initiated or triggered...

      @@LesOReilly Thanks, Les. I look forward to a better understanding. I see from some of the comments in the Discord channel and from Reef Automation below in this discussion that I am not alone in this confusion.

    Hey, Les, I can't thank you enough for what I am learning from your videos. I would rather say "studying". So detailed and informative, thank you so much for your effort. I wanted to ask if you have anything for how to setup and configure spad to work on a remote computer. I sort of did it, it works, but to be honest it is all over the place - I clicked everything I could and installed a bunch of stuff I probably should not have. If you have a consicse video explaining remote setup I would highly appreciate it. Thanks again for your awesome videos

      Firewalls and setting up the simconnect config file to accept network connections. Think I googled it years ago and all I did was copy my P3D simconnect singing into my MSFS config.

    Just recently discovered your channel and the videos are great. Thanks for sharing. I have a question regarding events. What is the difference between SimVars vs SimConnect events? Thanks again

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  2 года назад

      the MSFS are Events that have been extended from the Standard Simconnect Set of events... Recently I think All of the originals have a duplicated one under the MSFS tree now as well though. But anything in the simconnect tree will work (minus things that Asobo did not support... like GPS Events or the Camera Events) and would also work in P3D or FSX ..

      @@LesOReilly I have learned so much from your videos. I have been looking at SDK and not easy to follow. I have a question regarding the use of the SimConnect API verses the use of SimVars. What is the difference between them and when do you use one verses the other. Thanks

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  2 года назад

      Well we use the data for things like button LEDs or displays for AP values and thing. We also sometimes use changing data (where allowed as there are sim Vars that are read only) so that we can modify values - ie AP Alt value and increase by 100 or 1000.

    Hello,
    I notice that in your DEVICES list, you have at the bottom of the VRINSIGHT DEVICES list, except I don't have it in the SPAD.neXT 0.9.12.123 version.
    Could you help me. Cordially

      If you are on a more recent version like Alpha or Beta those are now changed as everything is done with the one button type... I need to do an update video for the new capabilities since alpha has gone to beta version...

    Does someone have a good TPM 930 profile that works with the alpha and bravo to contend with the strange throttle mechanics? For MSFS... When I look at the online profiles, I don't really see anything that has been published, which surprises me. But, maybe I'm missing something. Anyway, if someone can post one that has been tested and works, please post the name and username! thank you!

    • @LesOReilly

      I published the devices for the TBM for the Alpha and Bravo ... there is a specific video for that... in SPAD GUI ... on the Home Tab. Go to Videos sub tab... then the Honeycomb section .. you will find the TBM... It shows you how to download the snippets... (snippets are the devices or even just a switch of a device) that way you can add them to your Profile which may or may not have different hardware in addition to those devices...

      @@LesOReilly Is there any reason to mess with vJoy with such a config anymore, or have all the issues with implementation been handled in the updates as of now?

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  2 года назад

      Not everything can be done with the Camera SDK updates... also you need to use a couple of events per recall.. so like first hit it with the category and then the recall number... vs just use the vJoy I already had setup...
