I love how the stones are coming out !! Jetwashing is definitely the way to go , great ingenuity guys . You maybe should consider having a permanent pump in the well so you dont have to keep swapping all the time. Keep up the good work !!

Hi guys . Your doing great and having fun that’s what matters. Maybe it’s the float stitch on your pump. It’s got to be over the level of the pump to work .. if it drops below the level of the pump it automatically cuts off. You may need to tie it up with string. But don’t let it run dry. Maybe you already know this . But it’s worth trying 😊

Just watched your latest video, jet washing the walls. That granite has come up beautifully. I’ve been following another guy in Italy who has a similar kind of property (Martyn doolaard) there’s some really good tips he’s learnt for preparing walls like those, pointing and tools. Key things I’d mention if you don’t get much time, using the drill and a wire wheel will get some more from the cracks, and to tidy up the pointing afterwards. He also sprayed the walls with some kind of insecticide as there were bugs living in the walls. Then a line breathable mortar for your pointing. That will help combat mould and damp.
Maybe, if you let us know what you’re “tackling in the next few weeks”, we can give you some ideas or if there’s a process or part that you’re struggling with we can help.
All the best and love watching you guys Si x

It might be a good idea to dig out a foot down. Add some gravel and pour concrete. Leave 4" inches below level. Place stone with smooth side up. When you place the stone, you're gonna want to leave a gap in between the stone's to add cement. That is assuming you're going to do a stone floor. I hope you guy's do that, this will prevent unwanted guests from boring holes from the outside of home popping in unannounced. By the way I have 29 years devoted to Carpentry and Light Construction. So, if you need any tips. Just send the word and gladly share what I know. If you decide to build a floor using wood, then it is vitality important to lay concrete with less rock, to much rock leaves pockets for crackes and ultimately crumbling to occur. Here's another tip? You can mold concrete blocks yourself or what we call it Cat Blocks. Good luck out there kids?

I used a karcher K4 or get paint off my shed, it didn’t do much of a job. So I bought a cheap blasting attachment for the Karcher which meant I could blast it with tiny glass beads.
This worked by like you I was plastered with crap and water, I did the job in a day and 3 bags of glass beads, of course it did clog up a few times which I did manage to work round and I chose a hot day as I got completely soaked.

Use them to hang shelves, potted plants, whatever. You can do some pretty cool stuff with them. The wall with the big squarish hole has lots of potential. The walls will look great when they are pointed... my advice would be to use a lime mortar... you can of course watch loads of vids on youtube on what is best for these walls.
Keep up the good work guys, you're doing really well ❤

I found your channel about a month ago and have been eagerly watching it. Please do a bit of Geordie as you would speak it at home, we might need subtitles. It's great to watch you two. Waiting for the next one. Good luck, hope you can solve the requirements for residency, What are they? No doubt it comes down to money. There should be a special deal for young people who want to live on the land in Central Portugal and have children,, because it's not easy. as we can see.

I have been watching your videos since one popped up on my feed and I have just caught up. I like them (it's nice to see an off-gridder who isn't living in the snow). The only criticism I have is that in one of your videos, I saw that you were running your generator inside of the barn. Please don't do that again. Keep the generator outside and run an extension cord inside. Carbon monoxide poisoning is serious business.

My guess is you guys will eventually frame things up and put finished walls over the stone, but I hope you at least leave the wall that has that cavity unfinished. It really would look awesome, and you can do some cool stuff with that hole in the wall. We bought an old house from the 1890's and took a wall down to the bare brick. It looks amazing and so will your barn / future home. Good luck.

@@theoriginhomestead If its anything like my old brick wall, you might not like that. The brick leaves a fair amount of dust and what not. Its bearable, but if I had 3, I would hate it. There are sealers you can use to minimize the dusty shedding. To stop it completely you have to use an epoxy resin which changes the look of it and makes it more of a glossy finish.

please don’t use concrete. There is a show called Restoration Australia. Watch episode 7 St. Martins from about 14 minutes in to 18 minutes as they are forced to remove the concrete pointing as it will destroy the sandstone. Now yours is granite but the aesthetics of concrete can also be an eyesore, especially if you don’t get it right.

Buy a few fittings so you can attach you hose directly to the IBC tote valve. With the tote in the truck your sprayer may work ok without a pump. You definitely need to park uphill from the sprayer.

Agreed some but not all models of Kaarcher can suck water out of a water butt.
The IBC on the back of the truck should be high enough to give enough pressure /flow
to supply your model (Archie Archer)without the need for a pump.
It looks so much better already.

SAND BLASTER WORK AMZING BUT YOU NEED TO HIRE GENERATOR AND SAND BLASTER

  • @victortuten4399
    @victortuten4399 Год назад +1

I was wondering why all the extra steps but then I remembered only one generator. I knew you had hooked up a water source by the barn and that should run the pressure washer. If it's not to late, you MAY be able to use gravity to keep the washer going. The pump may actually be damaged from the water not moving through it like it should. Those washers use very little water. Just for G Whizz if possible you can hook your hose up to the ICB then the washer to see if it'll work. It looks like it's a couple of feet higher than the washer so it should. Just make sure you properly get the air out of the washer per the instructions. If it doesn't work, no biggy, you tried right?
I don't know exactly what the pump isn't doing, but if it runs and doesn't pump water check the impeller, I'll bet it has started to melt and deform.
Great job though guys! Thinking outside the box really does help from time to time. I have done it so many times I can't keep count. The wife does however remember most of the times where it didn't work! Keep plugging at it!
