Welcome to the Raven One : Dominant Fury Campaign. Strap on your helmets and arm your ejection seats cuz its a wild one!!!
This is a prequel to the original Raven One campaign and we are doing this one live... Well as live as RUclips pre recorded videos can get.
As much as I would love to only show me being perfect and not making any mistakes for the campaign, in this series I'm going to show all of my success and failures for you all to see. If i fail or die in a mission you will see how it all went down and hopefully it will lead to some entertaining content for you all.
Mission 02 see's us heading back to the boat from the overnight stay at RAF Akrotiri, a few well earned beers and a good night's sleep after that hairy landing in mission 01.

For 18 pilots in a similar contact-dense situations like this, remember that the hornet's ground/sea radar will tell you a contact's speed and heading, so if you have known information about their movement you can rule them out without needing to VID.

Well, That was a big swing in skill requirement and stress from mission one.
Yeah it still had its moments for sure but def a less high stress compared to that night landing sequence
Amazing idea for the mission, not expected emotions around the sim like that... I remember RO1 when your buddy got hypoxia heading into Iran, playing it in VR makes similar, hard to describe, feeling...
Awesome video! It’s fun to play the missions and then watch someone much more competent play through them so I can see what I did wrong and the other strategies to get the mission done. Does anyone know if they fixed the atflir moving waypoints around?
I’m not sure about the ATFLIR mate, it is bloody annoying… I didn’t even realise it was a bug on this video until I watched it back and saw the WP3 staying right in the middle of the ATFLIR reticle 😅 hope they fix it soon, it’s kinda a campaign breaking bug until it’s sorted
68 is the temp 14 is the dewpoint A stands for altimeter so it would be 29.70. You got the rest correct. The 68/14 is the temp dewpoint spread.

as someone who doesn't have the skill to play these missions, yet went and read all the raven one books thank you so much for doing this! i hope for the full campaign!

I didn't think i had the skill and admittedly had about 5 attempts to pass the first mission but honestly my dude, just flying these missions forces your skill level to increase so much! you can always skip a mission if its proving too hard too

@@cajiky I think you’ll have a blast! Just don’t put any pressure on yourself when you make mistakes. Just enjoy the amazing dialogue and be immersed you’ll love it
This mission was such a surprise i had no clue i would be doing search and rescue when i was taxiing in Akrotiri haha! Was interesting to see how you approached the mission compared to me!
Oh also i assume you know now but the METAR bits you didnt understand were the temperature 68/14 (farenheiht and celcius) and the A2970 is barometric pressue InHg (29.70)
Just fire a harpoon into the yacht and call it a day. Jack won’t have to worry about that stroke then.
Currently listening to the books which inspired these campaigns and loving seeing your plays man! Brings it to life... One day I'll be at the level to play it myself :D
He does such a brilliant job on the books, can really visualise the flying and stuff with how he describes things in the novels.

I realised as soon as i landed and checked the scoring criteria for the mission that i stuffed up the F10 menu call.

It’s very very very basic, not at all like MSFS at all. They are reworking ATC in the background so maybe in another few years we will have a more realistic setup

Yeah I surprised myself with just going to air to ground radar in sea mode and looking for them, was instinctual… before I realised what I was doing I caught myself and thought “I’ve been flying the hornet for far too long” haha
Im pretty sure guard fir comm is selected by changing the comm channel selector to G, not pressing grcv on the ufc.
I think GRCV will transmit any gaurd communications over the radio regardless of what frequency you’ve tuned into but if you want to talk back to them you need to switch to G, but I’m not 100% on that one

Not a bad guess at all mate, could be the TACAN abbreviation they went for, but normally they give it the Callsign of the ship so something to abbreviate Valley Forge 🤔

As for today, GRCV is not working on PRI (radio 1) but only on AUX (radio 2).
It looks bugged because you should have heard the call on guard but you actually have to answer on 243.0 or G.
Thanks mate! So if I turned GRCV on AUX I would’ve heard the call initially?
@@TorniQuetHD Yes defintely. I had the very same problem and BigNewy confirmed it is a bug and it has been reported.
So for now, enable the GRCV on AUX only until they fix this.

What aircraft did you fly in the RAAF? The F/A-18A+? If so, it should explain why you’re so proficient in it in DCS 😃
Cheers for thinking I was a pilot mate but I most certainly was not. I was an aircraft technician, so a fancy name for an aircraft mechanic. Everything I know in DCS I learnt from the community, youtube or online research pretty much. So if I can do it, anyone can do it 👌🏻
@@TorniQuetHD oh cool, I’ve always been interested in what goes into maintaining aircraft i don’t think people quite understand or appreciate how much work goes into maintaining an aircraft. @@TyreChewingDog yeah a lot of our job was fixing cocky pilots ham fisted flying… flying aircraft outside of flight envelope and pulling too many G’s etc 🤪🤪 I started out in DCS absolutely brand new with no idea about any of the stuff I now know, bit of patience and willingness to learn goes a long way
@@TorniQuetHD I've been playing DCS for maybe 7 months, now and I don't think I've had this much fun in a very long time. Absolute gem of a game. I've even persuaded some of my mates to get it, which is surprising.
Yeah mate, I’ve been hooked ever since I’ve first played it too. Still hasn’t gotten old for me.
Plot twist: The whole story of Jack having a stroke is fake, she shoots at you with a Stinger when you get close.
