I love my little pancake Samyang! It’s my go to lens when I hope on my motorcycle. I’m not worried about breaking it, it’s form factor is tiny and so lightweight. Honestly it’s stacks pretty well against the Sony Zeiss 35mm just half the price. I definitely recommend!
Mathias Myrrhøj I also use it very often. Compact, cheap, very sharp, good contrast and colors. And after the latest firmware update, the AF is reliable too
blaaberkat I really need to get the lens station so I can update the lens. I’m pretty sure I’m running an older version. And yes a really decent lens for the price.
@@Myrrhoej I got mine on ebay for about 50 euros, if you use it often, its definately a must in my oppinion, the AF, even eye-AF, is now smooth and perfect
I love my Samyang/Rokinon 35 f2.8 for sure. I always slap this on when I am out for the day. I have the zeiss 55mm f1.8 and i feel that i keep the 2.8 on 8/10 due to size. If Sony does ever come out with their own 35mm 2.0 or 1.8 I will probably get that. Just hoping they can keep the size down.
i enjoyed your video although it was a bit of a disaster weather wise... ive not tried this lens but its a good option for Full fame Sony a7/9 series .. im still waiting for a 35mm F1.8 ..& cant believe Sony havnt delivered one to us yet ?
I love mine, i don't care that it's made out of plastic. It focusses fast enought for me, af is almost silent and pictures look clean and clear for $250.
I used to own this lens, and I would've kept it if it weren't for the terrible build quality, super noisy autofocus, and that ridiculous lens cap situation. If they were to re-release it with a metal build and a better lens cap, I'd grab it again.
Nice vid! Think ill buy one for my a7iii, i like the size. Little hint: you can actuallay pull the peak design anchors directly through the mounting points with a loop of thin string to get rid of that annoying rattle 😄
Today June 6, we have a small chance that next monday sony could announce a 35 1.8....very small chances but still we keep hopes :), meanwhile, my voigtlander is keeping me in love
Great Review!! thanks! what do you think about zeiss 55mm 1.8 ? I buyed recently i have a7lll and I use more for video than photo so I want a good lens for video and I found it have a good af in video also in photos its sharp but compared with my old sigma 50mm 1.4 dg with mc11(af continous and eye af) i saw a big difference and the sigma wins Idont know if the lens have something wrong but dont look like a lens with the price of 900€ but anyway I will keep it because works very well in video and also its tiny .
Voigtlander, Nikkor, and several other lens makers have MF lenses with much better build quality and sharpness. This is such a cheap disposable lens. Save your hard earned money!

Hey that's the lens i use all the time. It's my sort of daily carry. So small and compact - very practical.

I'm mostly here for the rain, cuz it's my thing :)
Love the rain
ok man im gonna need all the video settings for this video wow!...what!
Seemed like it wasn't until more than half way through that video that the review actually started. I found myself skimming through a lot smh
So what was that podcast? :)
Torn between the Sony 28/2 and the Samyang 35. I’m curious of your take. What do you think? Thanks
I’d get the 28mm personally
The 24mm version is the one I wanted for gimbal work.
Very nice lens and Very nice place

Noisy AF? Hmm, mine's almost inaudible, bar a little clicky sound...
I agree on the lens cap quality, but then again, I hardly use it at all.
You might of got a bad copy because mine is not noisy at all.

For those who don't mind the rattle, those cords will last longer attached to the triangles - they'll wear off less.
nice vid thought, i'd like to know what chair you are on ;D thx
You should see the prices of fuel here in the UK, makes yours look super cheap

Where have you heard this? If this is true I would be happy and sad. Happy to get a fast sony prime, but then the cost will be ridiculous.

I wouldn’t say it will definitely fail in the rain. It might be alright but it’s definitely not weather sealed at all

Yep. Total rip off

Gustavo Ibarra That’s a fantastic lens. It’s sharp and will last several generations. It’s a great street photography and wide portraits. 👍
