Just in time. Was looking for a comparison between the 1.4 and 1.8. i take family photos and i remember from when i have the 85mm 1.4 i shoot at 1.8 or f2 for single person and i shoot max of f2. 2 for multiple people to get most of them in the plane of focus. Its really hard for me to find a scenario where i need to step down to 1.4, thanks made my decision easier and went witht the 35mm 1.8, on sale right now with a dock for $359.10 no tax free ship
I have the 1.4 version and love it. It´s also great on the APS-C too. I use it mostly on my A7R3, but now and then also on the crop body. Really sharp. Nice video!
Im struggling to decide whether to go with the sayang 35mm 1.4 or the sayang 35mm 1.8. They are currently both around 320$. I am wondering if the 1.4 extra light is worth the much bulkier build, will it really help that much in night time photography and is it sharper. Or should I go with the small compact 35mm 1.8?? to put on my Sony a7iv?... or pay more for sigma/GM/sony
@@TECH360TV Thanks for the quick reply! in terms of sharpness is one better than the other? or very similar results? if similar I think Im going to go for the 1.8
Unfortunately we had some technical issues with the video quality and as a result this is the best we can come up. This won’t be happening again that’s for sure :)
It wasn't just your copy of the f1.4, mine missed focus as well. on top of that, my copy had some minor decentering issues resulting in lack of contrast and fringing on portions of the frame at wider apertures. It wasn't anything horrible. The lens was still usable. If you're a hobbyist with little experience with good quality lenses, you may not even notice this lens' weaknesses. And to be clear, I'm not a Samyang hater. In fact, I own, and really like, the 24-70mm f2.8. The 35mm f1.4 is an older lens that has a noisier and less reliable autofocus mechanism...and despite the firmware revisions, it's just not sufficiently reliable for serious work. There may be good quality copies out there, but there are also plenty of bad ones...
i like your review, but from international stand point . your talk very fast. it may be ok for native speaker, but for second language as english is hard to keep up.. i love your video btw.
a few issues I have. 1-you sound like a salesman and that comes off as trying too hard and its easy to tell you dont like them but trying to give positive feedback because of the price. pictures didnt look sharp at all. "yea, its not sharp but its ok" doesnt cut it. too much processing in your pictures to give an objective pov. your walking left and right doesnt test af capability, AT ALL. forward to back really strains it to see its performance. and tell your video guy, he needs to work on expsoure and wb. looks like he way overkilled exposure and you did massive highlight recover and theres all sort of cyan and green shift. overall, not impressed on presentation. good audio though
Had 2.8 for a while and just bought 1.4 mark I for 200$. It's hard to get rid of the 2.8 since it's so compact and useful during traveling.

Hey great comparison review mate. I just want to know what firmware version you have on your 35 1.4 when you shot this video?

Best compact lense? 1.8? This brand or another?
Do you think the 1.4 is worth it over the 1.8? kind of stuck which to pick. Great video btw
Thanks for watching. I feel the 1.8 is a good value for the money if you’re looking at Samyang.
@@TECH360TV Thanks for the quick reply! in terms of sharpness is one better than the other? or very similar results? if similar I think Im going to go for the 1.8
Similar. The 1.4 will have a slight edge but feel the 1.8 is still sharp
@@TECH360TV okay thanks!
Hi, I also have such a lens Samyang 35 mm F1.4, is it a rule to hear the autofocus engine when taking photos?
yes
Very complete video, nice!
The 1.4 seperation is crazy it's almost like he was on a green screen.
Hope that the 1.4 gets a little bit small
I think the dehaze in video is low in talking part...sir apart from that I loved that

On what firmware is your 35 f1.4?
Not sure.

Samyang 35mm 1.4 is essential to have the latest firmware update. Essential!

Understand. You can slow down the playback of the video if that helps.
Ridiculously bulky... why...
For the 35 1.4? Due to the glass.
@@TECH360TV yeah it’s too much to carry around... love your videos though :-)
