WHY HIP HOP CREWS FAIL: Junior M.A.F.I.A | What Happened To Them? Stunted Growth Music

  • Why do hip hop crews fail most the time. When an artist finally get his or her big break, what do you usually see them do? They put the homies on. It’s only the right thing to do. That's applauded, because for the most part, said crews wouldn’t have gotten that look any other way. But hip hop history has shown that rap crews never really pan out outside the main artist having success, and usually disband pretty soon, only two embark on failed solo careers and interviews bashing their leader for not putting them on in a way that satisfied their success. One crew that was thought to have the magic ingredient to have success, was Junior Mafia. They had arguably the greatest rapper of all time as the leader, came up in the perfect era for their raw lyrics, and even had a few names that would become at least popular. Fast forward to the early 2000s, the group has long been disbanded, took the stand and testified on the other, been called out in a rap for being a so called snitch, left for real estate and became a thing of the past that no one outside of ship hop blogs care about. Definitely not for the music. Was it ever " for' Junior Mafia? Why’d they fail? Stunted Growth Music.

Biggie said in a interview before " Life After Death" was released...concerning Junior Mafia..." I can't make them want it" and He pointed out that Kim is hungry...she writes...a little known fact that Voletta Wallace revealed in a very rare interview ...is that Cease is a distant cousin of Biggie's...the reason why he always had Him around, usually driving his car because Biggie did not have a License...Lil Kim had the total package...Cease had a great voice and he was on songs by Black Rob as well as Mobb Deep after Biggie's death...you did not mention Kleptomaniac...he was the One member who was shining on songs outside of Kim and Cease...The Snakes ...Trife and Larceny were kind of nice too but Lord Digga , Special Ed, and DJ Akshun deserve a lot of credit for their production...I heard rumours that Ed and Digga probably were ghostwriters too...you also should have mentioned that Junior Mafia was actually D Roc and Biggie's Crew on the streets...on the music side, you had Solo artists Kim, Cease, and Klepto...as well as two groups The Snakes and the Sixes...the reason why you see early promo images of Biggie wearing field jackets and other clothing with three 6's on it...at first, that was going to Biggie's first act under his wing...JM would be the Crew...you also forgot to mention Lance " Un " Riveria but it was still a great video!

Biggie 🙏🏽was the one of greatest to ever do it so he put his friends on. Lil Kim was the only star in Junior M.A.F.I.A. Lil Cease was okay but he didn't have star quality. When Biggie died Lil Kim held Junior M.A.F.I.A. and Biggie memory down as strong as she could but it seems like a lot of her crew were just living off her and weren't pulling their weight (especially financially) When that whole shooting happened and Kim went to jail and Lil Cease allegedly took the stand and (snitched) Junior M.A.F.I.A. was pretty much over and done. Lil Kim music career hasn't been the same in years and the rest of Junior M.A.F.I.A. are basically non existent!! Clearly the vultures just assume what they wanna assume because the MC’s in JM had their own style outside of BIG. Klept had bars and sound nothing like Big. The Snakes could’ve been bigger if they had the support because both Bris and Bangah could spit and write with a style of their own. Cease even has a style of his own. Till this day if you were to hear him on a line-up of lyricist (ie the KaySlay Rolling 110 Deep), you would know it was him. What stunted them was no one outside of Big didn’t care to have a continuous vision for them to financially support their music. Also according to BIG at that time or after their debut some of the members weren’t as hungry for it as he wanted them to be, hence why he only took the hungry members such a Cease and Kim; and use them as examples to show how successful they can be individually or as their sub groups under the JM name. Now Kim had good intentions to help the Mafia and carry on Big’s Legacy. Unfortunately she had 1 too many executives including Puff controlling her brand, which included the Mafia. That’s how the 2nd lp got shelved, which caused a riff between members professionally and personally. The Hot97 fiasco and the petty crimes that they were involved in during that time was just the icing that led up to the dismemberment of JM.

What happened was BIG was writing for Cease and other members.... and they never showed the initiative to start writing on their own.....or to record ⏺️ the songs he wrote for them while he was gone. Goes to show you even if you are getting a push you still need actual talent to make it. Lil Kim and Cease had help but they also had the charisma to carry songs. The rest was the homie’s they not MCs. BIG should’ve given them all ghost writers or took them to “MC school” & developed them. Either that or given them behind the scenes jobs in the industry that could keep them paid.

If you listen to "The What" by BIG and "Big Momma Thing"by Kim, the cadence and flow are the same in the opening of the songs. Kim had "Dreams of F******g a R&B D**k" BIG had "Dreams of F*****g a R&B B***h" and so much more. BIG made them... and also broke them

@@minatodroger7890 big got tired of holding the weight for Jr mafia after 95 knowing they couldn't compete with the outlaws and dogg pound especially if he's writing all the lyrics its basically him vs that whole label Kim was just there to sell records cuz she went plat he already moved on to Charlie and he was forming the Commission with Jay as Charlie was gon be the new female of his group even gave her exposure on Kim own get money video she makes a cameo plus puff signed the lox and mase so big ain't really need Jr mafia as a rap group even by 97 he only took d-roc and cease with him to L.A J.M was basically his entourage once he got real spitters around him they were a after thought

Junior Mafia was Garbage!! Eventually they would've got better over time as Biggie was wanting them to take more creative control and be more independent. Would have loved to have seen the direction Big was taking his artists before his death. Lyrically, Musically, Creatively, Tupac's "The Outlaws" were a better group at the time but comparatively speaking over time J.M would've come with more radio friendly hits🤔 #2pac4Life

Rap crews don't last the same way most musical groups break up. One member outshines the others. Usually one person stands out from the group and carries the others! When that person gets tired of carrying the others they go solo for obvious reasons! #1 is to get more money and fame!! If you're the star why share the money with those who are wack in the group??
