Great video. Watched until the end, longer vids no problem. Would appreciate a video on sizing boilers please. I wouldn’t put a WB in my own house and neither would I recommend one to anyone else unless I didn’t like them of course.
I’m sure a lot of the regular viewers are as appreciative of your hard work as I am.

Like your videos Alan, very informative you dont try to baffle people with terminology and the videos have a nice easy to follow flow to them (pardon the pun) . I was 2 weeks away from sitting my ACS ( new to Industry). But the covid put a stop to that. Im a fast tracker ( know your views on this and I kinda agree).
From this deo most parts of this boiler seem pretty accessible. Which is particularly good for new people to the industry.
In your years of experience what are the most valuable tips that you've picked up that would be beneficial to new starts. Anything would be greatly received .

I fitted one of these when they first came out, don't do alot on repairs and servicing so can't judge the insides but I do like the look and removal of the front case is very easy and the fact that free comfort clock came with it which required no wiring was a big plus 👍

I had an 8000 Life 35kw Combi installed in January to replace a 25yr old Potterton prima. Its really quiet, uses less gas and my only gripe is the hot water takes a while to get going. I've had Worcester combi's in every house I've had, serviced annually touch wood never had a problem.

Really good video Allen keep making more.I fit a lot of Worcester’s and this gives an alternative to people on a lower budget to people who really want a WB. However not being able to fit Third Party Controls is a huge drawback especially with the popularity of smart controls. This really needs highlighting as it will catch a lot of installers out. That said the WB control is easiest on market to fit with no pairing required.

I've personally fitted Worcester Boilers for the past 12 years. If you get past the idea of how awkward they look to repair.. they are straight forward in my opinion.
The 2000 Worcester is a great peice of kit for a small 2 bedroom House or Flat 😊

Nice one Alan, I personally install a lot of Worcester Bosch boilers. I haven’t install the 2000 series yet though. I always go for the CDI classics which is now the 8000 series. I can see Worcester have made small changes on the 2000 which are definitely in favour for compared to the old juniors, but with a big but! If they only listened to engineers with the Design ideas they would prefer, they could have really made not just a ok boiler but a great one! I totally understand from a design engineer they are taking into account costs and manufacturing purposes but Worcester especially have the resources to achieve this. Keep up the content Alan and stay safe 👌👍😁

  • @johnburns4017
    @johnburns4017 4 года назад +2

♦ The expansion vessel on the Intergas Rapid is _hinged_ for access behind, and just _lifts out._ It is on a flex pipe. No screws to undo. That is better for sure. But not to say the W-B vessel is easy.
♦ Quality boilers have quality casings all in one piece, that easily lift in and out. This does not have that.
♦ Downward firing spiraled heat exchanger. Generally good. A bad point is that crud from the system can accumulate in the heat exchanger's spirals reducing efficiency creating hot spots. But you should have a filter anyhow.
♦ Special tool needed! A no, no.
♦ Removal of fan easy - good point.
♦ Rubber gas pipe? What planet are they on? That also stinks of penny pinching - *no way would I recommend this boiler.*
♦ Plate heat X looks easy enough to remove to clean or replace.
♦ They fit a nice big pipe to the expansion vessel, yet fit a rubber gas pipe. My oh my.
It looks like this boiler is designed to be like cheap washing machines - designed for a limited life span. When they brake down outside guarantee it is cheaper to replace as they slide in and out like a module these day with three connections. The delivery men will fit and take away the old washing machine, so all done within an hour - then off you go with another guarantee period.
Worcester have gone downhill since Bosch bought them out for sure.

  • @barrydoherty636

  • @efrygasservices6169
    @efrygasservices6169 4 года назад +1

Regarding the looks, when I first saw it, I liked it but now I see them more, I am not so keen.
Regarding the expansion vessel....... bad idea Worcester as it will now need the installer to be adding an additional vessel more often in larger properties.
I am glad that the gas hose is easier to inspect than the last model.
It is a shame in my opinion that they have decided to keep the kebab heat exchanger.
I’m also not keen on the flow and returns out further than the wall.
    Hurray, removable sides 🙌🏻
Why hide the diverter? Let’s see what their spares come with ie. seals etc, as they have until now always been good.

I have a Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior combi Mk IV boiler. For some time now the boiler keeps dropping pressure.
    * Recently the hot water keeps cutting out and the tool light and the reset light are flashing.
    * I Reset it and the radiors were not heating, so I did another reset at the switch which appears to have worked but cuts out again radomly after a while. What could be the cause?

Most boilers are easy to work on these days, however all boilers have there Good Bad and Ugly points, faults, the Baffle removal can be removed by a small handed person, but no tool accompanies the boiler, ( Do you clean on a service) ? The prv is located in the most difficult maintenance testing place they could have not sited in a more difficult place if they tried. is the boiler gas engineer friendly? NO its not....

Great video Alan. I'm having some trouble with a Worcester 2000 and how to get it to work with a Nest thermostat. The external accessories strip does not have any of the usual returns etc and only has a Bus and link terminals on it. I've tried using an OpenTherm to EMS converter that Bosch supply wired in to the Bus terminal as per the instructions. The heatlink detects the boiler and talks to the thermostat, but doesn't produce any heat demand at all (if the link connector is left is) or produces a constant demand (if removed). Don't have any ideas do you?

Cheap the vids the same same length mate. The money they spend on the case and the new look should have been spent on redesigning of that shockin heat exchanger. Ive done the 8000 training course ,wb seem.to be obsessed with over engineering it , for example u have to change 4 seals to do a strip down service a 8000. Most other boiler u dont need any. I cant understand wb ,they have the best marketing but ome of the worst products for the money in my opinion

@@osamabinbeava you’ll have to share where the connections are for an external control in that case?

@@osamabinbeava because Worcester’s own brochure for the 2000 model states ‘The 2000 series is only compatible with a selection of our controls. External 230V controls are not compatible.’

@@johnprice4 hive can be fitted 240v or 24v switching so wire hive into 24v. Also bg utilises boiler iq via the easy control key underneath the boiler, if you need me to tell you how to wire hive for 24v just drop me a private message.

    So allen
    1 It’s looks good
2 it’s seems they have made some improvements.
3 they also have made the usual WB why the bloody hell have you done that!
Below are a list of the following.
    6 L EV
Internal condensate (I can see to a point why but loads will miss that)
4 don’t like the kebab but at least it’s a bit easier to take the fan assembly off
5 as a retro fit can’t use existing controls. (As far as I’m aware)
6 the valve and pipping arrangement is absolutely no help what so ever.
To sum up there is a lot better on the market for less money with easier options for the installer and the end user
WB had the chance to come up with a better model in a very competitive market, the good engineers and installers are getting more switched on, they will sell loads of them no doubt. They will do the job and will be an easy sell, not because its a well made and designed unit. It’s because WB have a brilliant brand awareness and have been around for a long time. I wouldn’t fit one personal choice
    It’s a no from me.
Keep up the brilliant videos, and nice to see you giving it away for free rather than cutting it up.
Stay safe buddy see you soon
