After noting my friend's 17 year old Worcester combi boiler worked better, swapped my 12-year old Baxi with cumbersome loft tanks for a Greenstar 8000 life... It's like changing from a Trabant to a Rolls Royce. Settings for most efficient heating and hot water delivery performance are a breeze... difference in CH out and return water temperature, crucial for efficiency so easy to adjust.
Can it control zones ? we all know when installing a new central heating we have to split the system at least up stairs and down stairs . What happens when there is a system leak ? Does the auto fill keep topping the system . If so the inhibitor will dilute .
Good review derek would like to see a strip down of the bottom end plate heat exchanger fitted lots of cdi boilers downfall of it is for older people they like the controls for water and heating in front of them perhaps worcester will learn and alter it in 20 yrs oh i forgot perhaps we wont need gas boilers then thought is terrible Thanks for putting video on Gwyn Morris gas engineer
a) Why did Worcester not change the flow adaptor material/design , this is a frequent point of failure of the classic CDI (referred by a plumber as cheese material)) b) Why no Opentherm control capability , which is available with Ideal, Baxi and Atag , and Intergas. I have the Evohome system in each room, and have to use on/off control with the 2005 35CDi classic , was hoping to stick to Worcester for next replacement , if they allowed Opentherm on this boiler. b) I wonder will my plumber spill the condensate trap content all over the PCB cover, as it is not straight pull out (I can see the problem watching every demonstration on you tube including a demonstration on the Worcester facebook Q&A session in July 2019 ) .
Great video. Looking to purchase this boiler but can't decide which thermostat to get. Nest or Bosch Easy Control? You recommend the Bosch controller but it doesn't seem as good Nest. Have you had experience of either being installed? Which performs best? Can the Nest opentherm interface with the EMS controls of the boiler? Thanks for any advice recieved.
Sirwafflehead I would always go for the manufacturers controls as it will run the boiler at the most efficient. But really if you think another stat is best for you then go with that . Thanks for watching 👍🏻
If you have a system boiler with underfloor heating zone as well as radiator zone with a switch live coming from a wiring center is there somewhere this can be wired into the boiler? Or can you only plug in Worcester controls into this boiler? Kind regards George
The Nefit does NOT play correctly with the new EMS 2 on the 8000 series. I just bought the Easycontrol with Bosch smart TRVs and it's a really excellent setup and far more capable than nest. It modulates the boiler fully but more impressive is the calendar function in the Bosch package. Create dozens of weekly calendars with up to 6 switch points per day - then assign them to ANY device or multiple devices like TRVs. One single TRV can call for heat and fire the boiler. Seamless.
@@m1bjr have the boiler up and running with the Easy Control. So far very happy but just wish it had a boost button to allow a quick 1hour blast of heating when needed. It's a pain having to remember to turn off heating or create another schedule.
We had this boiler installed a week ago, so far every day we need to top up the pressure as it goes down to 0.4 bars. Any idea what could be wrong, we have checked for pipe leaks buy haven't found any.

The company who you get to do the job will tell you which boiler is best for you. The Worcester life 8000 is the best one for a garage in the Worcester range but there are a lot of great boilers out there with very long warranty’s. thanks for watching cheers

@@tomkatgastraining yeah but I don't trust UK tradesmen. My mate also got upsold a massive boiler. An engineer came round to the annual service and broke the news. Apparently it could supply all the hot water and heating on a cruise ship 😂
I had a Valliant ecotec plus 630 system boiler fitted 3 years ago. I have 15 rads and a hot water tank in the system. I have a solar hot water so kept the hot tank. It has been excellent since install and my gas usage has gone down. When it was serviced last year the engineer commented that I had an excellent install. In my opinion the quality of the install is just as important as the correct boiler. Good luck with your new one.
My new Worcester Bosch 8000 boiler 3 months old losing pressure every day awaiting Worcester Bosch engineer visit. Disappointed to say the least should have kept my old boiler which was 16 years old and no real issues!
What happens if there is a good leak in the heating system? Will the boiler flood the house with auto top up feature or there is some intelligence built in to prevent that?
les0nick I believe it will only fill for what ever you set the timer for and how many times a year so it won’t flood the house . You have to use the bypass on first fill or it won’t fill the system . Hope that helps

les0nick the 8000 is a far better boiler in my opinion but if you can get the classic at a good price with the same warranty then it’s worth a go . If you are hiding the boiler in a cupboard or loft say then I would look at the cheeper option. At the end of the day it depends on your needs to which one as both are good boilers
I don't think this is a good idea, this would keep feeding the leak, and the boiler wouldn't shut down/lock out. Unless it locks out after continuous topping up. 😳
Ok so what’s the price & what’s the warranty? Glad you finally got rid of the crap case & moved the prv but still looks a bit complicated when it comes to servicing? Massive condense trap in the way, ok it easy to remove but other manufacturers (Alpha, Vaillant, ideal) have kept things simple! & Alpha do a 13 year warranty now! Plus you don’t need to be in the elite club to get that, it’s available to everyone! Sorry Worchester but making it glossy & shiny hasn’t won me over. & I think I would rather a white appliance in my kitchen than a (kind of ugly) black one

I am getting quite a few calls where these Boilers are getting air locked. Worcester has decided to replace the problematic AAV with a Manual Air Vent. Why can't the manufacturer just put a AAV outside the casing.
Hi I have been looking at most quotes online for a new boiler and many of the websites that I've clicked on are giving me a quote but the quote almost always includes a chemical flush and not a powerflush. I'm really worried because most warranties are only valid if there is no sludge in the boiler and if the engineer does find any sludge then the warranty would not cover the repair of the boiler. I have been living in this house for 20 years and I believe that the radiators have not been powerflushed or chemically flushed even once in the 20 years. I'm really worried that if the heating system is chemically flushed like most of these quotes are saying then that their might still be some sludge in the system and my warranty would be void if anything was to go wrong with the boiler. Please can you let me know if this would be the case or not. Many thanks in return.
Samina Ali it all depends on the quality of the water in the system before the new boiler is installed. All new boilers have to be installed on clean systems now and should have a magnetic filter installed to keep the system clear of magnetite. To keep your warranty you will also need the boiler and system serviced every year this should show up on any service. In my opinion a chemical flush along with a magnacleanse should remove most of the magnetite out of a system but if you don’t have the system checked and serviced every year you are wasting your time. If the engineer finds sludge in your system he will charge you to clean the system. When an engineer services your system and finds it sludged he will quote you to remove it as that’s not covered in a service. All engineers will give you a quote to install a boiler and in the quote it should tell you what you are getting for your money.

When i had a shower later that day I noticed that the water flow rate wasn't as strong/fast as it was with the old main combi boiler. Worst boiler ever. I got a Greenstar 8000 and it's made my life hell. I've had it for 40 days and I've had 15 days without heating and hot water. Worcester engineers came and put wrong incompatible parts and they make me wait days to come. It's a disaster, I wish I kept my 19 years old Ideal boiler. This boiler is complete crap for the trash

Over rated boilers, thats all they are. at least this guys admits and points out most of the faults with all previous Worcesters, And oh yes the PRV is now EAAAASY to get to, way hey, im over the moon, I think its the same thing with the same parts, made by the same dudes just a different colour, you'll see in 5 years time when you get your call outs
Why is the condense trap so big, it blocks access to everything and why is the plate heat exchanger still hiding at the back with no access, OMG what's that behind the dark green plastic cover, Nooooo. The good stuff, its taken years for them to make a boiler case that make it straight forward for access. The way forward was to fit weather comp via boiler manufactures controls 15 years ago, Worcester are so slow and where is the multizone wireless control kit, again I have been fitting it for over 10 years but Worcester you are so slow.

I'm one of them as I'm looking to have one of these installed and hearing you giggle about the fact you should limit the auto refills because don't want to loose call out money for just refilling is shocking!! You're not an installer in my area thank goodness, because on hearing your little "in joke" means i'd never use you. The internet is an amazing tool that can benefit us all but its always on and can be shared to millions so think about who you're talking to on your video's. Shame on you dude for trying to con customers.

What's difference between this and the 4000 other than output and warranty periods?
