Lou! On this Palm Sunday....Oh boy, this one was a VERY tasty treat as the Caddy XLR (both "base" and this V) is one of my true favorites, big bro. Bravo for featuring this one, big brother. Speaking of tasty treats (lol! 🤪) I just had a bowl of Cellantani pasta with a tomato, garbanzo beans, broccoli rabe and cauliflower red sauce I made. With Ricotta cheese (whole milk, of course) and grated Romano on top. I am half Italian, after all. Hey, big bro!! After a day and a half of crime fighting (NYC has gotten pretty bad, man), I was starved! So upon getting home to my apartment in Brooklyn my Robin slippers got kicked off (JV Johnny's in his flesh colored stocking feet typing this) real quick-like, cape and mask thrown to a chair when I walked in and started on din din. Hey! After a thumbs up and a good pat on my green briefed butt from my girlfriend for this yummy pasta, I may even get lucky tonight, man lol 😏. But this XLR....such a gorgeous and unique car, Lou. My God, truly lust worthy and exotic. Bravo for Cadillac (and GM) for building it off the Corvette platform, stuffed with wood and leather inside, and a truly stealth jet fighter, masculine origami look to the sheet metal. The Northstar V8 loves to rev and sounds great-esp with quad exhausts! I actually know of a really sexy older chick who owns and operates a funeral parlor on 4th Ave in the Sunset Park neighborhood here in Brooklyn, and she has an XLR. And a sexy Maserati Grandsport, too. How badass and cool is that? Being an all-American blue collar JV baseball guy, I do actually prefer the Caddy. Such a pleasure to see you and Jack here enjoying this unique Cadillac, man. God bless you big bro Lou! Thanks for the inspiration and when you are in NYC hit me up and I'll make you some pasta. JV Johnny ⚾⚾

Thanks Lou, for doing a video on the Cadillac XLR! I always thought it was a beautiful car. It's unfortunate that only about 15,400 were built throughout the entire model run. I guess people at the time balked at the high price ...for a Cadillac. I saw a black one at the Caddy dealership in my city, but as with most expensive vehicles, the windows (and roof, in this case) were up, and the doors were locked. If I was able to afford one, it would not be black. Those seventeen minutes sure went quickly! Happy New Year! and all the Best in 2021!
Wow! I never inquired into these before. Now that I know about them, I'm pretty impressed. The look of that engine really sold it for me! That is quite a sight. The price was more than I expected though. That was one pricey Caddy! The convertible looks like fun, but I actually prefer the sleek hardtop model. I love the lines on those.
I didn’t know that they hadfiberglass bodies either. Very nice XLR. The timing (the Great Recession) and the rise of SUVs likely killed the XLR off and that’s a shame. Very interesting car in a lot of ways. The style is distinct, performance strong and it certainly is not common. Thanks Lou!

Very cool Vette. There's a young doctor here in Sioux City,Iowa that has a hard top/coupe. His is metalic red with aftermarket exhaust. Sounds amazing but so strange looking at the Cadillac emblem and hearing that exhaust note and whine from the super charger. He is always willing to stop and talk to the young car guys and show his rides. This one is pretty cool too. Elegant yet fast. :) Wolf in sheeps clothing. Vette in a tux for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Just FYI ... all XLR's and XLR-V's were hard-top convertibles. The 2004 and 2005 XLR's were built on the then-current C5 Corvette chassis. When Corvette introduced the C6 in 2006, all subsequent XLR's and the new-for-2006 XLR-V"s were built on the new C6 chassis. Except for the body, interior, engine and wheels ... everything else is Corvette. ^v^
That story about getting stuck in a Corvette happened at least a couple of times for sure. One being fatal unfortunately. And that’s a sweet Mark ll there also.
Another great video! For some reason the XLR is panned by car journalists. Probably because it was a car marketed to a customer base that wanted the Corvette performance, slightly diluted possibly, but without the boy racer image. I think they look pretty classy, especially the wood trim I've seen. I like it. Any chance on finding one of those Cadillac Blackwings? I've only seen one and I think it was only for one year. The Blackwing name will be used on upcoming 4 and 5 series models in '21 or '22.

Nothing wrong with this Northstar. This LC3 and the NA LH2 do not have the same failure points as the L37 and LD8 (FWD) Northstar’s. The RWD Northstar is a very reliable engine, basically shares designation only.

Hi Pat, Happy to read you learned from this video, and I'm learning all the time from the Care Takers. I find the learning so much fun. My pleasure sharing with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Why didn't they and don't they just name the cars after the power of the car. In this case - "Whoa Mawma!" 0r on a small slower-paced car, "Granny's Smile". Makes sense to me. LoL. At any rate, this is definitely not grandpa's Cadillac!
Northstar? A supercharged Northstar? I always thought that these had the Corvette engine because it was built in Bowling Green! Well cross this one off the wish list! But, it still is a nice looking car, however, Northstar!
@@loucostabile I agree it seems nice, I work hard every day and yet I can't afford a cadillac. I'm a big cadillac fan but at times I get abit sad and jelous which I know it's wrong of me to feel that way but sadly that's life some people have luck and some dont
One one hand, the least practical Caddy ever built, as it has no room for any luggage, and even with the top up there isn't enough room in the trunk for a golf bag. So you can't take your golf buddy to the links in it. As a matter of fact, you have to put your golf bag in the passenger seat. On the other, the fastest Caddy ever. You pays yer money and you takes yer choice...

Gear heads would jizz their pants; light weight, rear drive & supercharged V8.
Nice :-)
Why didn't they and don't they just name the cars after the power of the car. In this case - "Whoa Mawma!" 0r on a small slower-paced car, "Granny's Smile". Makes sense to me. LoL. At any rate, this is definitely not grandpa's Cadillac!
Hi ImTheDaveman, "Whoa Mawma!" would be a GREAT name for a car! No not Grandpas Cadillac, although I do think Jack is a Grandpa, Lou
Would like to see the Lincoln that is in the background of this video. That vehicle is much more interesting!
Hi Rob, Here you go. Enjoy, Lou ruclips.net/video/tKU0puM03a0/видео.html
Do you know what the blue car is? The Lincoln is sweet.
Got it! I just saw the reflection on the back of the Caddy. Viper GTS.
@@tmseh That is Lou's car.
Northstar? A supercharged Northstar? I always thought that these had the Corvette engine because it was built in Bowling Green! Well cross this one off the wish list! But, it still is a nice looking car, however, Northstar!
Hi Don, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
$100,000 Sheesh!
:-)
Must be nice being able to afford such a car, people always like to showw off no need for that
Hi Cadi Lac, You're right, it's nice. Lou
Hi caribman10, Good points. Thanks for sharing, Lou
Here is something to consider if an urge to buy one of these vehicles is too strong to resist: ruclips.net/video/hN-3Dn1aDT8/видео.html
