    Don't be scared of the wooden boards in the lift, that only means some levels of this building are under decorating, the wooden board was set to prevent scratches in the lift.
    Enjoy your trip.

    Visited Chongqing briefly 20 years ago. (I was interested in it because I'd written a Ph.D. thesis on the history of its foreign community in its treaty port days in the early 20th century.) One thing I liked was the sidewalks going over the street!

    I love all your videos Amy! But just a suggestion, could you please include the names of the places that you stay at and their prices and also a rough estimate of what it costs to be in a particular place through flight, train or whatever and sightseeing. It will just give us a brief idea about the budget that we need to allocate before we go to any of the places that you show in your videos. Because honestly, your videos are so good that it makes me want to go to each and every place that you show 🙈 And I would really appreciate if I could get an estimate of what it would cost and some recommendations for hotels/hostels to stay in. 🙈❤️

    Very nice video, I found your channel recently and it's a good way to discover new things about China ! I just started chinese this year, although I admit that it was more a strategic choice for my futur career than a passion for this country, nevertheless I'm starting to change my view on this thanks to you. What makes me reluctant to go there (double degree in Tsinghua for example) is the political system and the pollution, how do you feel about this ?

    • @BlondieinChina
      @BlondieinChina  5 лет назад +8

      That's awesome! I'm glad you're enjoying my content! I have to tell you, in the beginning, learning chinese was also a strategic choice for me. I was going to study business and thought a chinese major would be a nice way to compliment it. It was only when I went to China for my first time that I absolutely fell in love with it, and the rest is history!!! It's an amazing place, you will surely come to love it. For me, I don't watch the news and am not really interested in politics. As long as it doesn't interfere with my daily life, I'm fine. And apart from having to use a VPN to see instagram and youtube, I don't feel any kind of influence from the political system. In terms of pollution, beijing is 1000000x better than it was 3 years ago. Many of the big factories nearby have been closed and most days are clear blue skies, not like the old days where most days you couldn't go outside. Of course, its still more polluted than australia and most western countries but I never think about it really, it just doesnt bother me as much as it used to. Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

      In high schools, 7:30am-10pm is pretty standard, and that includes study hall, where you do homework. In elementary schools, yes, 4:30pm is typical.

    By some accounts Chongqing is said to be the largest city in China. It is pronounced Chong-chin. They have a zoo with several pandas and fire foxes.

    those plywood boards in the elevator are protecting the stainless steel panels behind those boards. in china, people take their bikes into those elevators. with time goes by, the dirty tires of bikes (rains, snow and dirty streets) make big mess on the stainless steel panels. so with those plywood boards, HOAs just need to replace those old, dirty plywood boards (those are cheap, cheap in china) with new ones during the regular elevator maintenance. that would make the operational cost of evelavors much cheaper.

    I was told Chongqing is a “3D city”. You take a lift to 30th floor of one building and you find yourself at the ground level of another one. Google map probably doesn’t work for the city as well, you thought you find the place you wanted to go but your destination is actually somewhere 100 meters right above you and it takes another 30 minutes to get there...

    • @BlondieinChina
      @BlondieinChina  5 лет назад +1

      Z Joshua that is such an amazing way to describe this city!! I couldn’t agree more! You have to travel vertical as much as you do horizontal. Love that, 3D city!!
