Would you rather have the Model X or the Model S Plaid? Why?
X....just looks better tbh
The S.
Probably the x, for it’s practicality.
If I was forced to choose, the S.
The x because of the third row
$30-35? Oh no the humanity! It costs me $120 to fill up my Mustang right now, and I definitely don't get 300 miles on a tank.
Good point, people are not taking into account that this is also largely affected by where you are charging.
Well no crap you got a pos mustang
Ho needs more then 300 miles? Driven my TMS85 since 2014.
Mustang is much cheaper than model X . So you are still saving a lot by owning mustang .
@@beerara2249 If you own it for a few years the maths gets more convincing. Depending where you are living, tax incentives for electric vehicle (company car tax etc), no routine servicing, no road tax (well in UK anyway), cheap fuel (especially if you have solar panels), less components to fail, reasonable insurance costs etc.
I have the Model X Plaid and love it. I'm in Florida, so no fun Canyon roads to drive at. Ran it in the 1/4 mile and ran 9.87 @ 144 mph.. Plenty fast and I can comfortably haul my family cross country with it.
Sad thing is most people won't get views with a love of the cars. Only the problems which as we know with tesla are always fixed very quickly with software updates. The one thing these cars have over any other is its ran by software. I owned cars in the past with some annoyance or bug like windows act weird or it tetlls me car isn't in park when I get out when it is, it will always have those, and its ran by software that will never get updated. BUT tesla pushes out updates constantly, improving and fixing things all the time. 5 years from now you get latest software and that this pretty cool.
Enjoy replacing the door seals once a year or they leak.

Reset the Fully automatic driving score and drive on a highway for 100 miles at night so there isn’t many brakes or accelerations
I initially had some FWD opening issues on my MXP but those cleared up after the last software update. Haven't ever had one not close. Your friend needs to schedule service and get them fixed. The alignment looks great so it's more likely a sensor issue. You can forced them closed manually by holding the down switch or pressing the button on the screen or the app.
9:30 yep, that’s a most annoying part. But still: safety first! 😉
You only need to put your car into park mode for about 1-2 sec, no need to open the door to reactivate AP.
You can thank NHTSA for all the driver monitoring/penalizing nonsense.
I’ve had mine for 4 years and i’ve had almost no issues at all with the falcon wing doors. 99% of the time they work for me. I don’t think you can say “50% of the time they work.” The charging prices are way lower everywhere else in the country…. So much wrong with this video.
I've had a similar partial open/partial close issue with my Tesla Model X doors. The issue seemingly occurs in direct sunlight which leads me to believe door sensors are blinded by the sun.
Doesn’t cost $5-$7 to fill a new S or X. More like double that depending where you live. Also the swivel screen and new tail lights did not arrive 3 months after the refresh came out. Refresh came out last June-ish, and the new lights came out a few months ago, with the swivel screen soon after. Also FSD is $12k.
The key to getting the FSD Beta is to deactivate Beta for a few days, then reapply. Then take 100 mile+ trip on a non congested highway to achieve the 99 safety score. Then don't drive it until you get access. After that, your safety score doesn't matter. FSD beta only gets deactivated for 5 failures to comply with warnings to watch the road or hold the steering wheel.
I just picked up my model x plaid 2 weeks ago . You nailed it!!!
All 5 of the things that are areas of opportunity . Still the most amazing car ever.
Thats what viidoes like these need to end with, I have a model 3 are there little things you hate, maybe, but overall most people including me love their cars and will put up with those, because otherwise its amazing cars and other companies should take note and copy everything. Great thing is with any issues most likely it will be fixed with software updates. Mine used to phantom break while using the traffic aware cruise control and it was worse with auto pilot, its fixed now. And a bunch of other little cool things are added or fixed or refined. That is what makes Tesla so great.
Which most amazing car ever!?!?! Lol……. 😂 😂 😂
So basically I did good getting my Model 3 Performance without full self driving. I do not wish to pay money for nothing and worse, been lectured by Tesla that I am not a good driver when I am, and if you don’t believe it, too bad, no tickets for over a decade, no crashes for over two decades (and no crashes ever, just a minor bump a couple of times when I was a rookie starting to drive). So no, I’m happy with my Model 3. Maybe in 4 to 6 years I might consider going for the Model S... we will see. Cheers
Wow, I have never had a falcon door not open right unless something was really in the way
It can be a problem in hot weather. Apparently the door sensors overheat quite easily, and that annoyed me last year when my uncle let my friends and I borrow his Model X for the day. Only happened twice out of like 10 times we used he doors, but still.
@@theadventureinsider 100-110 here in southern NM this summer, still no problem. Maybe AZ temps will mess it up
Usually, it is because someone moved in front of the door or there is something over some part of the car in a garage.
Just got my Plaid x a few weeks ago. I did notice a few of your gripes.
This is not just some rich guy complaining about a scratch on his tesla, these are actually real issues that you wouldnt expect on such an expensive car - great video
It isn't about the car being expensive, it's just stuff on a car a lot of people talk about. The only reason it's so expensive is the current battery technology, and then inflation made it incrementally worse.
@@theadventureinsider yes but you wouldnt expect to have those issues on a >150 grand car that can do 0-60 in under 3 seconds
On the autopilot issue deactivating: it’s not Plaid specific, it’s for all Teslas. Also, you don’t have to open and close the door after putting it in Park. I got deactivated during a road trip in my Plaid X on 4th of July weekend. I pulled over, put in park, put in drive, and off I went - Autopilot worked again.
Much needed this is all the info the Tesla owners don’t tell me when I ask about any thing they don’t like
And I thought they were dam near perfect but I don’t own one just seen them up close
have you tried just resetting computer when that happens? usually resets and allows it to go again.
Vehicle Virgins is back. Nice old style video. Keep it like that...
I preordered a Cadillac Lyriq AWD.
SUPERCRUISE comes with it just like the CT6.
I have a Model X 2022 and took delivery April 30, 2022. A week or two later I learned that my vehicle did not come with the screen swivel. Very disappointing to be sure. But ultimately no big deal as I love my MX to pieces.
Took delivery of MX Plaid a month ago and luckily I got the swivel screen. I can't see myself driving without the screen titled toward driver side.
@@vuvision Wow, congrats and enjoy!!
Just bought an X plaid. Only thing I am a little concerned is about the falcon door closing, but havent had the issue yet.
My Plaid X does tge same thing. My 2018 X falcon doors worked flawlessly. It's a programming bug with the passenger door. I'd say it's because they had to use a different controller chip and rewrite the programming.
Very good video!
Thx
The articulation frame and wiring harness is in all of the new cars. They were just short supplied of the two motors that move the frame. I've taken mine apart and it's all complete except for the motors. Had I waited 3 weeks I would have gotten the motors. Tesla will offer an upgrade. In the meantime, for those that want to, they can remove the assembly and adjust the gears by hand to tilt the screen if they say always want it pointed to the driver. Depending on when Tesla offers the upgrade, third parties might beat them too it. Those that can get the motors and have Toolbox 3 can already do the retrofit.
So you cannot use the autopilot you used on the video in your own car cause of the low score ?
As for third row head room, how tall are you?
peak charging hours is not a tesla issue, its a utility thing and that carries if you charge at home during peak hours or not.
yeah, blaming that on tesla was not cool, it should of been noted as something to be aware of IF you live in CA.
Exactly. Look at commercial power rates which is what Tesla pays. Consists of 2 components, how many kWh and how fast you wanted those kWh (aka demand charge). Charge at a high-powered Supercharger at high rates and you rack up the demand charge in addition to the kWh charge. Do that at peak times, aka when business are operating or people are running their stove or A/C, and the charges really pile up.
yeah, i had the 3 month trial for FSD; it gave me road rage a few times.
agree with that auto pilot deactivations, it happens more too oftern and annoying.
Great review!! I've got to admit, I don't want the X now...I mostly just wanted a green SUV. Oh well...
Wonder what safety score FSD beta will give it self ?
The Plaid model X is now actually an imperial Tie Fighter
Don’t see many in blue. Looks sharp!
You can get the Tesla Plaid unlock for a top speed exceeding 216 MPH. A company in Canada did it...
never had issues with my falcon doors closing, maybe .01% it gets weird but press close button and it fixes itself
I think the issue is the door sensors can get overheated in hot weather, happened to me last year.
I had heard that the model X had problems with the gullwing doors. It has been my understanding though that the problems have been solved. Obviously not. It’s my understanding though that the majority of the model X gullwing doors do operate properly as of now.
I'm happy you bought Model X Plaid.
I initially thought the doors were cool but they are slow to open/close and a number of friends and family members end up hitting their heads on it because it might not open all the way or they are standing in the wrong spot. Also the automatic opening of the drivers door can get annoying because just the way he described, I can be walking to my workbench or extra fridge in the garage and the door would inadvertently open because my key maybe in my pocket. Otherwise it's my wife's daily driver and she loves the size, speed and ample seating.
I just leave the automatic door opening off. I didn't have it on my S. It's enough to be able to push the button and have them open automatically.
@@sorka95032 thanks, I'll suggest that setting to my wife but I think it's a love/hate relationship with the automatic doors.
Love my Model X Plaid. It's perfect so far.
The car door thing, take it to a service center, as that is a problem that can be easily fixed by them and most likely the car is under warranty
Unless they disabled cabin overheat protection, it would be hard to know if the larger windshield doesn't contribute to faster/more cabin heating.
They could look at the energy consumption data
@@theadventureinsider I have a MXP and I have no idea what you're talking about.
Ceramic tint, you need this for sure.
I actually spend less than 200 dollars on gas each month even with high prices in Michigan
The door problem seems specific to you. I’ve had one since 2018 and never have malfunctioning doors.
I live in Phoenix and it gets extremely hot here. Like there is no comparison between the heat here and Los Angeles weather...I don't own a plaid but one of my cars has two sunroofs that take up almost the entire ceiling, have factory tinting and the heat still gets through a lot. I wonder how the Tesla model X would fare here. If anybody has one drop a comment and let us know.
Tesla tinting has 99% UV radiation blocking. The Model X windshield tint is much better than the previous gen cars
Really?? It gets hot in Phoenix? You don’t say. :p
Love the cap,
I had $170k and had to make a choice. I chose a 911 Targa 4S, and love it.
The charging Point is so stupid to bring up hahah, it always changes and you dont have to use the superchargers haha
3:53 , they do have the hardware but they need to get the motor installed
About the doors, sometimes the sensors can get overheated and the doors act weird. Black car, direct sunlight, 100 degrees Fahrenheit, it was a mess when my uncle let my friends and I borrow his car. On top of being a 75D, because at that point we only had like 100 miles of range because we had the AC on full blast.
As for the button to close, I much prefer to just press the button that's inside
As for the new tail lights, I think you can retrofit the new tail lights (basically the ones that were already being used in Europe, now being used in the US) onto the US Model X since in the old ones there seemed to be two sets of lights in the lower light area, red for brake light and amber for turn signal indicator. If not, there probably is a wire adapter to be able to use the new tail lights.
As for the charge port door, I think the old door was more flimsy/prone to break because of how easily you could flap it around. Also notice how when you were moving the flap, it was actually also moving the dual-arm (there's one arm to open the lid and another arm to flip it upwards)
As for the swivel screen, remember that Tesla just adds features down the line over time, there's no consistency. New features don't affect prices. Major refreshes may.
For FSD, price increases are affected only by the level of what early access/priority owners get. When they got smart summon, traffic signal recognition, FSD Beta 1.0, etc, that's when prices increased.
Also, as for the FSD, get Enhanced Autopilot, it's feature-complete already. It does highway navigation and autopark.
Everything new always has a learning curve. Ur friend should of warned u about the door opening
$5-7 🥰 cost me $65 to fill up today 😭😭😭
In Texas it’s about $15 at a supercharger
Questions his safety score
Proceeds to do five 0-100 runs😂
Every time another sucker pays for "FSD", Elon laughs his ass off
It is FSD, most of the features are available. The reason why it's in Beta is because it's not even close to being ready for level 5 autonomy. Full self-driving simply means it does the tasks. Not necessarily that it doesn't need help.
Sound like your friend set you up 😂
When you are able, in any given moment, to find the laughter, to find the love, your life as you have lived it through the filter of your mind, will be over. To know the self is to see the self, to see the self is to understand the self, to understand the self is to learn, to learn is to teach - this is the obligation set by each student as they walk the path to healing.
Click bait title. The automatic door open can be deactivated, and problem solved? The automatic door won't swing open because the sensor sees you're standing in the way? That's the same logic as you don't stand next to any car door blocking its swing path if you want to open it? 😉. Not suggesting this is OK, but the partially opened falcon door can easily be reset to resolve this issue. Regarding the motorized swivel display, that's the run & change Tesla is known to adopt, instead of waiting years for the next generation model like other legacy car manufacturers do. If you're a consumer, you would rather take your chance with the run & change option. Case & point, I recently took delivery of MX Plaid knowing the matrix rear & headlights are on the verge of being released. There will always be something new being implemented in the future, heck there's rumor the 4680 batteries could be in the next build batch. You can choose to wait & wait or drop the anchor now.
You don’t have to open the door to reset autopilot after being kicked out. Just put the car in park and then back in drive to continue your trip.
Windshield cracks cost to replace LOL $2,000. or more?
$9.30 in Indiana at the supercharger.
if you are paying for a feature you should get it, imo that is a court case paying something and the car maker doesnt give it to you for a bs reason, at very least they shoud give you the money you spend. and in the old cars you could just use it anywhere
It's 100% reasonable to do as Tesla does it. They are holding YOU accountable for using it properly. They need to see that you have what it takes to operate the system safely. You're paying for the development of the AI technology behind it. Things like this is why you pay $3M for a Bugatti Chiron when it's actually $7M to make one
@@theadventureinsider you buying the car is the payment for the development, if you are paying a extra for a feature you should be able to use it, imagine paying for data and the carrier says it only let you use it if you show you can use the internet.
how are they are holding people acountable? if the people have licences to drive isnt a car manufacturer that will say if you can or can not drive. if i pay for some extra i have the right to use it, if for some reason it doesnt work give the money back, now taking a person money and dont give them acess is a scam imo.
$12k not $10k for FSD. Model X Plaid is a def future vehicle for my family 💯💯💯
Never seen that problem with my model X. Doors always work.
The falcon door if it does not close that means your car is damaged
Nope. I don't like the redesign- especially the 'Knight Rider' steering wheel. I will be looking for a 2020 Model X when I am ready to make my purchase [if the prices ever come down].
Yoke can be changed out, but give it a try 1st before you do. Took me all but a couple days to get used to it, now I wouldn't want to go back to conventional round wheel. Regarding getting a 2020 MX, don't do it, those earlier years are riddled with problems. So much so that Tesla had to halt production of MX for 2 yrs to do a complete redesign.
The windshield sucks and does get too hot in California
software updates or service visit is going to fix the doors eventually. As far as charging, CA is not what any other state deals with as far as electricity rates. I agree with the complaint about FSD beta, imagine Tesla's need to limit who gets into that, one person who is chosen wrong will set the program back from govt approval for years. but only time I had it disengage is if you go over 80 or 85mph, or you don't pay attention for extended time when its asking you to move the wheel. ( taking it out of autopilot by steering it out shouldn't count against you to no longer use it for rest of trip). You don't want your telsa model s or x plaid going 200 mph, or even 150 the brakes are not equipped to go those speeds and have reasonable stopping distance, just look at other youtube videos. I think most of your Problems should not ignore the fact you probably love the vehicle. Its what most people might think oh let me hate on tesla so now I'm not going to buy one.
My screen doesn't move so I'm going to do a software update for it, it's just like saying
My doors open normally, let me quickly do a software update to make them become falcon doors 🤣
You didn’t mention the breaks. They suck and overheat easily
I haven’t seen one of your videos in years, dawg you’ve lost hella weight!
My Doors work all the time just fine.. odd.
One more problem. The Model-X doesn't come with the adaptive matrix headlights that are standard on every other Tesla. Ridiculous to buy the most expensive car and get outdated, less safe, headlights.
@Vehicle Virgins, I paid for FSD 3 times - $30K - still don't have it. I totaled 2 MX's w/ FSD (4 car pileup and got T-boned by a guy running a mid-phase red). Hopefully third time's the charm.
I live in SoCal and keep getting dinged for "forward collision warning" whenever someone cuts you off, but half the time they're NOT even in my lane. Still, I have a 96 safety score, fingers crossed for FSD!
I don't agree with bad drivers getting access to the FSD beta program because as the name suggests, the software is in "Beta". Which means it's in its training/testing phase where the software is learning from actual human drivers as to how it should behave on the road around random/dynamic situations that cannot be simulated inside a laboratory. It's like a teenager learning how to drive and what mistakes it should avoid. You DO NOT want a bad driver reinforcing their bad habits onto that AI.
Exactly, they charge an insane amount of money because 1. They want to hold YOU accountable for your actions while using the features 2. They want to reduce the chances of getting sued for something that YOU could have prevented and 3. It's helps the autopilot team, like the R&D of Bugatti. The reason why a $7M Bugatti Chiron is only sold for $3M is because you're only paying back the R&D team.
I have a model x plaid and my biggest complaint is the power loss after just 100 miles. Wish it had the same power a little longer as it did with a full charge.
Thats why I will buy the Mercedes EQE SUV when it is available! I will sell my Tesla 3 and still keep my Audi eTron 55.
An Headache with the car Dude; no more enjoyment; looks like in a class exam for Year 12 viz back to class :(
Who wants to hitted by other car flying stone in that windshield? No one. Damn it is sure expensive.
why cant you video the time its not closing all the way.
How dare the door hit you Parker unbelievable
There’s only one huge problem. It’s Huge. If I told you “Hey, I’m taking my S Plaid, I’m going to raise it up about a foot, which will really make it handle better! And I’m going to increase the frontal area for worse aero! Great right? Oh yea, and this is a great idea, I’m going to increase the weight, which is always good for performance, so I’m thinking some goofy doors with lots of motors and relays and stuff should help. And I’m going be to careful to not add any practical functionality. Won’t this be great?”
“Let me ask you a question, if you want to screw up your S Plaid, why not just buy a Model X Plaid? Tesla, already did everything for you.”
“whaaa????”
We just sold our electric car, I'm SO HAPPY it's gone. Hours and hours I sat and sat doing nothing, I'll never get this time back. Charging stations stole my life. I'm not getting any younger. No time to waste.
200 mph like a small jet or something
The falcon door not closing is a real issue with new X Plaids. I got x plaid in AUG and the falcon door on the right wouldn't close fully. Also, the doors on the right are not aligned. Not only that the car has a leak (windshield cleaner leaking) ... so much for a 150K brand new car :) ... and the best part is it runs only 100miles in a full charge i.e. from 80% down to 20% would give u just 100miles. Decided to cancel my cyber track & model Y orders after X plaid experience.
BLISTERING!
Seems like Tesla is collecting all the driver data to be used against you. Insurance companies will use this for determining premiums
Supercharging should be no cheaper than fueling an ICE car. Charge at home, off peak!
5 Huge Problems with the Plaid: It $MOKES...........🔥🔥
1) Ferrari
2) Lamebo
3) Mclaren
4) Porsche
5) Bugatti
Hardly it looks like cheap Chinese plastic, although the performance is good.
No the old Model X and S don’t have the motor to move the display. Source: Sandy Monroe
0:48 Maybe some dust between door 🤭. jk
Other than the doors these are not huge problems. They are not problems at all. Just things you dislike. Which makes the title of the video clickbait.
Why would you need or even want to go 200 MPH ? Like really dude.
Good vid but I gave it a -1 for the clickbait title. Those are minor annoyances at best, not "HUGE PROBLEMS".
It’s too bad the MODEL X can’t be purchased without those stupid doors.
Model Y.
Bro! Your Safety Score! lol. You are not the type Tesla wants in beta. They want safe drivers because Teslas are NOT autonomous and rely on drivers to take over when necessary. This is a beta. Drive like a normal human and you'll get a better score. Or don't and keep making awesome videos 😎
How are your Falcon wing door seal holding up? ruclips.net/video/exD3-BQ6PAE/видео.html
Lol falcon doors don't always work? They never F work! Never! Also the 6 seat config that the sales guy sold us in is the stupidest dumbest thing ever, it your over 5.8 nobody can seat behind you, no middle seat, this is really a 5 passenger car
