Great video. That quote at the end is perfect. If I have one criticism, it's with some of the language in the description. We should be careful to distinguish between _liberal_ identity politics and _revolutionary_ identity politics. The video perfectly depicts liberal identity politics. A revolutionary identity politics is one that is based on the recognition that identity-based oppression and (super)exploitation are linked. Differences among members of the working class in terms of nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation are leveraged by the capitalist ruling class to create sections of the working class for whom it's fair game to shunt them into lower-paying jobs or keep them disproportionately unemployed, to relegate them to over-priced or substandard housing, and more. In other words, the working class isn't an undifferentiated mass, and the class relations between bourgeoisie and proletariat aren't homogeneous and universal, therefore the struggle against exploitation and oppression can't be conducted as if they were. We have to remember to be both materialist _and_ dialectical in our analysis. This means, when we find distinctions that make a concrete, material difference in the phenomenon under consideration, we have to address them. What nominally left-wing critiques of identity politics tend to get right is that the ruling class uses features like race and gender to disrupt the solidarity of the entire working class. There are a few thing they sometimes seem to get wrong: (1) Those are preexisting divisions, not inventions of identity politics. (2) The way to build solidarity across the entire working class is not to ignore those preexisting divisions or tell members of oppressed groups, "We'll deal with your struggles later, right now we all need to focus on my struggles (because they affect all of us)." Black people in the USA have heard that from white people before and have good reasons for not believing it anymore. The way to build solidarity is to learn all the ways our fellow members of the working class are exploited and oppressed and, understanding that the ruling class uses identity-based oppression in various concrete ways to keep capitalist power structures intact, confront them together. That's literally what it means to be in solidarity. (3) Identity-based oppression won't go away all by itself when the bourgeoisie are overthrown. Leaving those fissures intact gives capitalist-like class relations a very easy way to reassert themselves, so we better start dealing with them now, if we're serious about abolishing exploitative class relations. To sum up: since oppression and exploitation are (obviously) political and are, in many cases, identity-based, an identity politics that situates the struggle against identity-based oppression and exploitation in the proper context of the broader struggle against capitalism and imperialism is not only acceptable but necessary.
You are absolutely correct, to give an example; because ethnic grievances weren't fully addressed in some of the countries in the former eastern bloc, the bourgeoisie (both the rising domestic and foreign) fueled those ethnic tensions and used it to destroy the unity of the working class by stoking the flames of nationalism which led to the destruction of socialism and even war as was in the case of my beautiful and once proud Yugoslavia

Unless he's changed, I don't think FJ would really see eye to eye with these politics. He's generally a reductionist in regards to idpol, perhaps because of his interest in Jordan Peterson. Does good work re corruption, but he's not really out this far left.
It's not mere representation; it's a scapegoat for people to be outragef over so the company can hide its _real_ problems. _Especially in hollywood and videogames._
