I hope it is that he supports it because I support the DPRK. EDIT: I made this comment three years ago when I was a cringe DPRK supporter. I no longer support North Korea. And in regards to the music playlist, it's no longer on his channel. Also, it was stupid of me to have suggested that ReviewBrah supports North Korea given how much he enjoys eating food. Armies have artillery and air support and a combined arms doctrine that makes them well suited to fight other armies to destroy hard targets or hold territory. A deathsquad is like 40 guys, and like 5 of them have Aks and the other 35 have machetes and they're only really suited to wiping out civilians. Using an army as a deathsquad is stupidly innefficient because you didn't need to pack this much firepower for that village. Using a bunch of deathsqudas as an army is inneffective. I came across some posts telling how horrible propaganda is in socialist counties and how disillusioned people from free countries trying to preach socialist countries as the good ones, some times I agree with one side other times I feel ostracised from majority because I feel for another side. Also, I believe people do what they think is right at that moment and definitely nobody has ill intent for their fellow men, so the strictness and authoritarianism handled by some countries maybe due to the things they experienced in past or to protect a collapse in future, but I don't know what my place in all this should be. @@raw_dah I feel you. I think the conclusion I've reached to give myself closure on that sort of thing is that it's human nature to try to find patterns - that's how we've survived as a species. When it comes to complex social structures, though, the narrative of a binary to simplify and hence understand the social structure just fails. But people cling to it anyway. I think so long as you go forward questioning the things you read, you will be fine. Keep those things in mind, but don't let it turn into pessimism, as much as you can. There really are people out there like you who also want to see the world in a balanced way, and challenge their biases. I think the best way to challenge biases is to try to imagine you're on the "other side" of the discussion. In this video, boy boy talks a lot about "imagine what it's like living in north korea and ...", and that's the kind of approach you want to take. Question both sides' perspectives, though, and really ask yourself "is there any other reason things are seen this way?", or "are there any other explanations?". Nobody is infalliable, and if you realise you need to challenge views you've had in the past, you will almost always grow from doing so.

My parents used to live in the USSR, probably the most "successful" of all Communist\socialist states of the time. Even there the life wasn't particullary good or free. You get what the government decides to give you because it thinks it's what you need due to the centralized planning nature of the economy. There's a tendency in communist\socialist-led states that all of the quality of life improvements are always related to the free market - oriented reforms and reintroduction of some forms of private ovnership of means of production as well as indtoduction of foreign capital. It happened with China during Deng Xiaoping, with Vietnam, Laos and Cuba and to the lesser extent with the USSR. The same thing is happening in NK because its original Juche based isolationist centralized economy starved a lot of people to death during the 90s and was only able to survive due to the extensive outside help. Even if its Its really illegal to speak positively of the north in SK media it is also impossible to say anything outside of what the party wants to say in NK media because there's no independent media at all. The issue of the Jew's is related to what the Jew's did to Germany and has nothing to do with their racial resemblance or the religion they followed. The Allied countries are the one's guilty of racism towards Black coloured races, most of the European countries and Germany do not have this history. The U.S.A and some of the regions of the Commonwealth this has occurred. There are Black coloured people who wore the Swastika proudly in WWII and others who wear it today. The Liberals just have no idea.
@@ChristopherGray00 I don't think we're in the same page here. I was talking about how the video making, script writing, building story, and packing into beautiful format that's easily enjoyable (as a content). Short answer: The effort pour into the video is magnificent
Honestly i would pay for a full fledge documentary of your trip there! Although I'm pretty sure you are on some 3-letter agency's list after this. I've always wanted to visit north korea. People call me crazy but sounds like such a unique experience! Thanks for the video!
Yeah, sure it could be an interesting experience, but after seeing people take trips there, I'd say it's simultaneously the most boring, and most batshit insane and terrifying trip to take. It's a preplanned "trip" in a preplanned area where you get to see preplanned activities. And if you even accidentally talk something bad of the country, the leader, party, national flag, portraits of their leaders, propaganda posters you'll go to prison or forced labour. A theatre is a cheaper and safer alternative for seeing acting.
@@Liukupukki how is that different than a lot of trips? All planned out. First we do this then we do this. All while people are showing u the tourist experience. Maybe them trying to show western people a western experience is their way of being hospitable while at the same time trying to encourage their own culture. Just like in America u would see the best of our country as a tourist here they want to show you the same.
@@dougfoster445 And you calling North Korea hospitable is just ridiculous. You're talking about the country that completely isolates it's people from the world, executes anyone trying to leave, brainwashes their people to believe their leader is a god and executes people who disagree. There is no hospitality in a country that is run by an oppressive dictator. Not saying the people aren't, they just don't know better. I just think you praising the country for things it clearly isn't is braindead.
Coming back to this six years later, it makes you think how often this happened before the age of information we find ourselves in now. Like, how many times have the people of many nations been lied to about one or a few other nations in an effort to create an image en masse?
And even when it's happening IRL & streamed live as it's happening, there's still SO MUCH propaganda that people still don't believe, or immediately get defensive when they hear the UN-verified, million-people-backed stance that Isr*el is committing gen*cide in Palest*ne.
I mean, the napoleon being short is quite well known, when it was a difference of measuring systems. There are ton of propaganda films in white and black that you can search, you won't get a quantitative number but you can start assuming always.

So, this actually isn't the way to go with that. The difference between an army and a deathsquads are what they are and what they do.
@@Boy_Boy
hello. I have some genuine question.
I've been trying to understand what's going on in the world, the horrible loss of human lives, killings even worse the people justifying taking other humans lives and so on.. it looks like never ends.
What's troubling me is that I can not see things in any perspective other than 'good vs evil'.
If you read all this then you'd realise I'm confused about all this, but really want to learn about things and develop thinking abilities that help me take a stand without feeling like I'm wrong. Again, I'm stuck in this good vs evil binary narrative which makes me feel guilty for taking a stand at all. This can help me not only to understand political climate, but also to help me grow as a person to take firm decisions.
I could've asked this to anyone, but I just came across this video and you seem to respond to many comments.
I'm in my mid 20s, feeling somewhat lost about not having achieved a lot in this fast paced culture always celebrating about winning and succeeding in life, and I am not even sure if it's okay to ask you this ,but can give some advice about anything, and especially learning about politics like something unbiased book or any other resources? Anything will be helpful. Not just resources to learn, but also your opinion please.
Thank you.
Nice. Couldn’t believe Jon Stewart did a bit on them. Like, you still think it’s okay to do this same schtick? It was depressing.
@@raw_dah I just want to add - you say you feel lost in life not having achieved a lot. Success is measured in a lot of different ways, and I hope you achieve success in the ways which matter to you. In saying that, not many people are worried about the things you're worrying about; you've got a good head on your shoulders, I think, and you should feel some assurance in that.

There around 10-30,000 north Koreans who work abroad and are only maybe about 10 total who run the media circuit talking about the "evils" of the DPRK. Even then, a lot of times what they say is debunked. Not to mention SK offers a $830,000 cash reward for defecting, and many NK citizens who are stuck in SK (because SK refuses to give them a passport) have said you can't make money doing media and interviews unless you make up lies About NK. Some have tried to share their positive experiences and the tv shows didn't want them or dissuaded them from saying anything like that
@@ststst981 is nk really good tho?
7 years later and this is still probably THE best social commentary on how propaganda affects our modern society. You guys are absolute legends for making a video as gold as this, I wish it was taught in the history books.
It always amazed me how people will believe absolutely everything any media tells them about North Korea. Like, if anyone tells you that a country banned sarcasm, shouldn't common sense dictate that you identify this as a hoax immediately? It's kind of scary how powerful western propaganda is. As an Afghan, I learned that the hard way, when my people became the bad guys over night.
Anyway, that was an amazing and brave video, guys. You are righteous men.
The reason why very few people didn't identify N Korea banning sarcasm is because its so close to reality if you say something as small as I don't like Kim Jong Un you will be killed in front of an audience and your family starved. Also don't talk about western governments when your government rapes and kills people for fun you are literally under the rule of the Taliban. Also don't you realize this video was made by a westerner does that make this western propaganda also this video sugar coated N Koreas atrocities so much if you want to know the truth then watch "The people's" documentary on North Korea also its not made by a westerner so you cant call that western propaganda.
This is part true (as people has exaggerated news about NK) but it's part true as they're painted a super good image of NK and that's also absolutely not the case:

TL;DR: Source(s): Dude trust me.
Good job proving both my and the videos point alike. Just spewing baseless and ridiculous accusations that every person with an average intellect would not believe, unless they are absolutely brainwashed and hell-bent on finding any potential fodder to fuel their disgusting hatred.
I have an advise for you. If someone tells you something about their enemy, don't blindly believe it.
Also you want to hear an accusation that is not baseless? Read the CIA torture report and tell me who is doing what, just for fun.
And considering you're too stupid to understand what western propaganda means, I don't think you want to participate in this, or any conversation amongst adults. Western propaganda is propaganda that furthers the west's imperialist agenda, regardless of who is spreading it. So your great documentary is indeed western propaganda, whereas this video is not, you moron. I know, your tiny brain likes to believe that you can deduce everything by just looking at a person's skin colour, but this is not the case.

What a strange feeling! You made me look at people I don't know or really understand and see them for what they are... People like me. Who get or do not get haircuts just like me. Both of us told horrible stories about each other in order to keep us apart. Thanks for reminding me of this
Just like us! I love travelling and tourism, and it's always amazing to see that wherever you are or where you are from, people are just people. Next time I meet a tourist from North Korea, I will... wait a minute. Oh, that's right. Unless you are a high ranking politician or an Olympic level sportsman, you're not allowed to leave the country. Just like us! Wait...
It's important to see North Koreans as real people with real lives and real joys. Yes, what countries like the US do and get away with is horrifying and devastating, but "well they did a bad, too" does not excuse the desecration of fundamental human rights. This video is blatant propaganda washing over the very real and undeniable atrocities going on in that dictatorship. It's a disservice to the very brave people who have escaped and shared their stories. It's a disservice to those who died trying but were shot in the DMZ, or were otherwise executed for their attempts at freedom, and to the families of escapees who were tortured and murdered as a warning to dissuade others from escaping and risking the slaughter of their loved ones. Those stories are every bit as real, and more reliable (in my opinion) than the very curated tours that North Korea is willing to offer influencers who are willing to portray their regime in a positive light.
@@arishasmile1905You missed the whole point, and this isn’t trying to be a snarky comment, as I used to hold a similar perspective until I learnt about the Korean War. If the west creates a false narrative about DPRK. Then as a westerner you cannot stand on that falsehood when you see the reality. Especially when you see how the action of the USA were very much the aggressive. With the DPRK much more defensive in reaction to war crimes/ human rights violations. But you probably soak up the propaganda of the so called USA “Department of Defense” @14:27 for a reminder of “defense”.

I dont mean to be a downer, or fully write off the singing scene as inauthentic, but it is common for these singers or performers to be planted by NK, and shown to tourists/filmed in order to create Propaganda, making the country seem more normal and cheerful than it is.

@@majesticturtle3828 I mean yeah the poverty in my American neighborhood isn't nothing to joke about either. May I also reduce the American experience down to its worst cases of poverty?
But yes its truly a shame the American state cares little to help alleviate poverty anywhere let alone in NK.
If it wasn't under constant military threat NK wouldn't have to militarize to such an extreme degree just to survive the slaughter of the Korean war.
North Korea is just another place on this planet with its own geopolitical issues and history.
@@Poadiup North Korea is a "vassal state" of China. The country it is in war with doesn't have nukes or an isolationist totalitarian hereditary dictatorship instead it has Nuclear energy and one of the strongest economies. Considering its economic history its entire existence the way it is under the current regime is critically hard to justify beyond being China's geopolitical proxy of course.
@@Einygmar Yes and the south is a vassal state of the US... who it is also at war with. it was a brutal dictatorship for a while too until the cease fire and the south recovered with foreign capital investment.
The US couldn't allow communism to spread and allow the Korean people the right to self determination and would repeat this same cycle of military violence against any people who reject American imperialism (Vietnam).
Its also illegal to speak positively of the north in SK media so honestly bro I'm just asking you to question the things you think you believe because there's always another side to the story.
@@Poadiup SK is not a vassal state anymore it was for some time simillar to how Japan was but currently it is economically self sufficient and has one of the strongest economies. NK on the other hand gets the majority of its electricity supply from China and relies on russian grain supply.
NK's regime has little to nothing in common with communism or with peoples right to self determination. It is a hereditary dictatirship with a centralized economy.
It's also illegal to smuggle anything from the south and the punishment is more severe compared to SK. It was like this in the USSR and currently is in NK.
It is insane seeing that this video was made 7 years ago, it honestly is thought-provoking. Definitely ahead of its time with your very satire filmmaking style. Thanks for the video and please keep them coming, you’re both great

I would say Aussie and US have the most in common based on culture, attitudes, and genocide of indigenous people (and continued disdain toward them).. I think Aussie's and American's probably have the worst reputation of all Western "Christian" free-market nations.
Maybe Americans are hated more since not all of us have to watch American propaganda, but we DO hear about the wars they are constantly starting and never finishing. Americans don't even realise they are at war! They seriously ask "what wars did we start?"

Well that is really not much of a reply considering the vast content that should of been of interest. You should not be offended by my comments, in fact I am very proud of North Korea and those people who have struggled for decades and remained strong in the face of tyranny.
There is nothing wrong with being a North Korean living in Germany, the only problem is when you say your German. It gets more complicated when their is a parent of either side, in which case that is why it is a situation best avoided and I say that with an absolute appreciation for the beauty and nature of Asian girls. I could easily fall in love with one,
Please accept my apologies if I have upset you, but what kind of man would I be if I didn't write or speak the truth.
That is a good reply from Phuong. you modern NatSocs are a lost case.
The only cure for NatSoc is a bullet.
Never Again.
North Korea is a strong Nationalist country, opposed to the IMF, opposed to Israel. I do not like or use the horrible terminology of Left-Right, because that creates 2 opposing sides, when the idea is to bring everyone together.
Considering that virtually all of the Western countries are "Left" or I prefer to say "Liberal", how can you state the DPRK is leftist when they are in fact almost totally opposite in policy.
National Socialist Germany had peoples from all over the world welcome in Germany, they were never racist towards Black races or any other race for that matter.

They would be arrested and never seen again the moment they stepped in the country. I wouldn’t even visit China if I were them.
Just like in America u would see the best of our country as a tourist here they want to show you the same.
@@dougfoster445 the difference is that you have the option to visit anywhere that is not a tourist trap.
@@dougfoster445 And you calling North Korea hospitable is just ridiculous.
The language manipulation still happens all the time.
And even when it's happening IRL & streamed live as it's happening, there's still SO MUCH propaganda that people still don't believe, or immediately get defensive when they hear the UN-verified, million-people-backed stance that Isr*el is committing gen*cide in Palest*ne.
