They take something that is critiquing them and applies it as proof to their ideology. This can be seen in comedy. Comedy is a very liberal thing; its why many conservative satire or comedians don't do so very well outside of their own demographic. Its not funny to people. Comedy is subjective true; but if your a racist(not saying conservatives are racist) and you make racist jokes most likely only people who agree with you will laugh. The goal of a comedian is to make most people laugh so they can poke fun at things but do it in a non-offensive way that doesn't make someone or a group of people the butt of the joke. Poking fun is fine. Its the same thing with various internet things. At one point many groups were satirical such as flat earthers, or conspiracy groups; poking fun at the real ones. Over time people who believe it take it over as those were satiracal start to leave but the believers stay. Long enough anything satirical becomes unsatirical. He was a nice enough guy personally. He treated me alright(probably because I’m a man) and paid fair. But he was a raging misogynist who viewed woman as objects of desire and nothing else. He would refuse to date women who had jobs. He’d only date people who would be completely dependent on him.

I would laugh or make fun of this but it's honestly so sad. There are people out there who genuinely think this is how one on one person relationships work.
