i like how Sony says linking their PSN to the steam account to play Helldivers 2 is to help provide security and safety yet Sony has been having a ton of instances where they been hacked and had their data breached not to mention getting PSN shut down a time or two by certain incidents lol
Its to boost playstation acount number by saying they have those accounts playing on pc so when they launch their launcher it probably counts, its also funny that a simple login for psn couldnt be done for release, its almost like they thought if steam game purchasers knew at launch they'd need a ps accont they'd have rather jumped off a bridge. they bought the game on the steam ecosystem not the ps ecosystem, now they are being blackmailed into another ecosystem.

seens 2011 they had around 15 breaches on PSN and the most recent one was last year and in that year alone they had 3 breaches

They failed to info the community of this and fail to mention they would be re-enabling it later. They agreed to the link mandate 6 months before the launch of the game. The CEO explained this yesterday

I think one point you did not cover for Helldivers 2 is that this mandatory “requirement” for a PSN account was not there at the beginning, so now that people are aware, after they have passed steams refund policy and like most spent money on in game credits, they must have a PSN account to continue and cannot be refunded.
But the reason a lot don’t want a PSN account is PlayStations horrible track record with data security, my personal details including bank card was put online though their data breach years ago.
Plus a lot of players, myself included don’t have cross play turned on so are not playing with PlayStation users but still need PlayStation account, just does not feel right months after the game launched and clearly works fine without it.
Laughable that not one person on this thread has done some research and checked if the requirement was required before launch and just thrown their toys out the pram. Here is a comment from steam by a user.

Tomb Raider being set in India could have some amazing and beautiful locations but I hope those locations aren’t just dumped in an empty huge space. I miss TR having levels that you could play afterwards with level select. Not had that properly since Anniversary in 2007.

I've been playing on a PS5, albeit less since new patches popped, but it does seem unwarranted to force PC players to create a PSN account. A PSN account should remain optional.
I support the growing protest and hope Sony and AH remove the june 4th account mandate, instead finding an alternative method to address any improper account ingame activity.

I like open worlds but I don't think some devs realize how difficult it is to build an open world. Not only do you have to design it, but you have to fill it with things that the player wants to do/see.
If done right, I like it for both franchises, but I'd prefer them to stick to what they know.

Well Resident Evil Village came out in 2021. So we haven't had to wait 7 years for RE9. If it comes out in 2025, we would have only been waiting 4 years.
I don't want sony getting my card details that's what's bothering me ive been ripped of with sony before that's why I changed to pc and xbox I bought a 9.99 game and they took 99.99 and wouldn't refund it
Back in the PS4 days Sony changed the payment settings for PS Plus two times via console updates and I didn't even get an information for that. Just an email and confirmation for the auto payment of 60€ for twelve months of PS Plus. Never accepted it in the settings. Deleted all these informations of mine and if I want to buy something digital on the PS store I just buy some PS Plus codes in a store or online.
But sucks to hear that you didn't get your money back on Xbox. Did you play to much of that game so that you didn't get a refund?
In regards to Helldivers requiring a PSN account, I do have to ask:
How is this any different than needing an Ubisoft account to play Far Cry, AC, etc.; or needing a Microsoft/Xbox account to play games like Minecraft (and more)?
If this was communicated from the start that the playerbase would need a PSN account, I don't see the issue

The Hell Divers 2 situation is corporate incompetence. All they have to do is use the same setup as prior in regions without PSN, that way the can continue to service and sell to more customers. Crossplay was fine before after all.
Except then you have people in your system that they can't monitored making the thing they was trying to secure not secure. So unless they completely wall off those people that would be a bad idea.

The only reason this is being done is to boost PSN numbers. That's it. They already have Denuvo DRM and n-protect anti-cheat. They already can ban you, the difference with the PSN account is that it's easier for Sony to ban you, instead of having to ban a Steam account.
Sony's the second last people I would say are "secure", only beating out Epic Games. This requirement for PSN also makes it possible for them to sneak in a PS+ requirement. I hope Sony weren't stupid enough to try that.

In reference to re9, this is why bethesda needs to expand their studio. How is it that Capcom can put out multiple resident evils in 1 generation, while having 7 years to develope? Bethesda needs to hire anybody who can mod bethesda games and put them to work.

i do not think that many will watch that THQ Showcase just cause they wil be hyped with the Xbox/Summer/PS Showcases and maybe Nintendo and on top of that THQ doesn't have a lot of games and as for Helldivers also that req doesn't include trophys for us PC users so wtf its not like Tsushima that its an optional and u can get trophys and with that situation their future Live Service titles may hit a rock cause of that so either they fix it or they can say bye to their Live Service games on PC
Tomb raider would be fine in an open world, if the tombs were huge sprawling tombs.

I never pre-order, i never buy day one and i refuse live service trash, so i never got this game. I waited to see if it was trash or not, and i was about ready to pick it up on steam, then this happens, so now i have removed it from my wishlist. The irony of PlayStation saying it's for safety when they get hacked every couple of months? They care more about the safety of people being offended by words than your personal account information. Not only that, there are still countries that don't have PSN, and if they use a VPN they get their account banned. This is absolutely not acceptable for PC players, if you're playing on steam i would suggest everyone refund now, wether you're impacted or not, we need to send the message that they can't get away with this.
For me I just avoided it because of the questionable anti cheat, and then saw how they treated the Steam discussions about any issues it caused. They hid the comments underneath its own category as to hide them from people looking at the normal threads.

"China would no longer be able to play the game." Hmm. But on the map China is blue, as in it DOES have access to PSN. According to the map, the countries that do NOT have access are: Mongolia, Baltic state countries (less Finland), Persian-influenced countries (stans and Iran), Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, most of Africa, Greenland, Caribbean countries, and Venezuela east to French Giana... to name the most prominent. UNLESS, the map is incorrect in a few places. Make a correction, or correct me if the map or I am wrong.
Seems there are more issues in regards to China; again, unless the map is wrong.

PlayStation really needs to fix the problem which is the fact that their console is not available everywhere particularly it's only available in 69 countries and Playstation network is also only available in 69 countries and anybody who is not signed into the PlayStation Network outside of those 69 countries will not be able to play helldivers 2 on PC which is the only way for these players to play Playstation games since the console is not available in their countries and Sony throws a fastball and says sorry we're going to make sure that you're connected to PlayStation Network in order to continue playing helldivers 2, what the fuck Sony? I expect this kind of behavior from Microsoft, Ubisoft and EA but this is just crazy how Sony can get as scummy as shit. PlayStation Network ain't even a foolproof Network on security considering they've been hacked twice.

Regarding Helldivers new PSN requirement... people need to push back to Valve and insist a refund even though it's beyond the typical refund window. This is the textbook definition of a bait and switch. Even if PSN is available in your country, people were not required to use it at launch and were never told that they *would* be required. *EVERYONE* who has an issue with this should be given a refund.

@@fishmo_mofish except it wasn't required - as evidenced by the literally millions of people playing the game without a PSN account. Many of those players, as mentioned in the video, are even in countries where PSN is not available and they've been banned when trying to circumvent this by creating a PSN account with a VPN. Banned. From a game they bought because they're trying to satisfy the requirement they're now saddled with in the only way they can.
Whether it was supposed to be a requirement at launch or not - fact is, it wasn't. And it's enjoyed 3 months worth of sales and hype *without a problem at all* before forcing this arbitrary and absurd requirement upon people. They knowingly waited until after the refund window had passed before making this a requirement. It's bait and switch plain and simple.
This happened to Cyberpunk, it’ll happen to Helldivers 2.
@ryhanon7 it was required at launch, but due to the server issues, they turned it off.
Everything else you mentioned is waffle. The refund timeframe is 2 hours of playtime, which I'm sure basically everyone has passed.
Countries without psn available, I could have an inkling of sympathy for, but as for bans, you/they need prove they've been banned for using a vpn and not something else.
This is no different to requiring an xbox login ID to play halo online or other publishers' titles, ubisoft, ea, etc.

Only for some games. The main difference here is they took the requirement out, sucked all these people into the game, and then added the requirement back in.
So people who bought the game who wouldn't have if they knew about the need to link their account, are now left with a game they can't play even though they bought it.

Yes, it'll hurt Arrowhead. But Arrowhead isn't a Sony company, so they can easily cut ties with Sony. No Man's Sky did that, cut ties with Sony after their launch, and look at it now. Clawed it's way from mostly negative to mostly positive. Heralded as one of the best space games, with a strong community.
Arrowhead will feel the sting, but many people on Steam are blaming Sony, and not Arrowhead. Don't be foolish. Doesn't matter who will be hurt by this, the alternative is that you as the consumer are being hurt. So stand up for yourself, because Arrowhead doesn't give a shit about you either. Their community manager even said to "Suck it up or leave a negative review".

The big 3 is just a mess this year. Sony is screwing with their best exclusives for 2024. Xbox is giving games to PS. And Nintendo is suing eveybody, while pushing back the switch 2. SMH.

They are legally not allowed to pay ransom. The issue is derived from their neglect to act on any of the numerous threats to user security. Sony only told us that their information was stolen after they were literally forced to do so, and sued in court for not taking any action.

Sony is desperate for money because the PlayStation players don’t spend money and PlayStation was a money maker for Sony in the past when the TV sales tanked. The new PlayStation is ruined by the investors who want a return on their investment

@@fishmo_mofish in different region such as Europe there is something called explicit consent or deceptive advertisement. Having it somewhere in your T&C isn't always going to cut it. My Teen son is playing that gaming and he never heard about the psn account until now. So I guess it wasn't that explicit.
Last point it would mean that the game should not have been released in China ever if that would be the case.

As for China, at least check rather than take second-hand information. China was shown as dark blue, meaning it is available. It is also listed on the 69 countries listed on Sony's playstation website. Admittedly, it's listed in Chinese text, but a quick translate, you can see its Chinese Mainland.
I guess a sizable minority number of players did voice their concern after Sony decided to remove Helldivers 2 sales from 177 countries on steam where PSN wasn't available. Things got heated. I heard they're back pedaling now. A PR nightmare.

I have no sympathy or positive vibes for those who could. It's a free account, and they don't need to attach personal details if they don't want to.
I had my name set as my username for years with the bare minimum of info. Never had my data leaked.....yet there is always a chance, although it's more likely to happen on LinkedIn or Facebook.

Yeah, this isn't a good way to try to introduce playstation to PC.. They're attempting to move some of the PS Plus stuff to PC, no one is going to give a crap. PS Plus only ever has crap games and they remove the more popular games when they think people will actually want to play them, because of marketing.. It's a joke, they just remake the same games 6 times because they have such few good games, and even their good games are usually just anime crap or literally just movies. GOW is literally all just story telling rather than good gameplay, Last of us is also just story. I remember playing LOU p1 when I bought a PS4 and the game wasn't even good from a mechanics stand point it's literally all just story telling crap.
I don't have a problem with companies requiring you to link to their network or to have a free account with them BUT to ask for it AFTER the game has been out and being played for months is beyong ridiculous. Playstation has also had some major security breeches for years so I honestly don't trust being part of thier ecosystem. Sony has NEVER been consumer friendly thats why I stopped being part of their ecosystem after the ps3.
Laughable that not one person on this thread has done some research and checked if the requirement was required before launch and just thrown their toys out the pram. Here is a comment from steam by a user.

@Xyler94 it was a nothing burger, a mountain out of a mole hill, a pointless issue..... ubisoft, EA, Microsoft... all require separate ID accounts as do others, without getting this level of pushback. Even my other half, who doesn't play games, was confused about what the big deal was.

The game was sold first and then later Sony decided to change the requirements and the new requirments meant that a lot of people who paid for the game couldnt play it anymore because of their countries restrictions. How would you feel if you couldnt play a game you paid for because of this?

Can you see the reddit post about requiring the psn account is BEFORE the release. What part of this are you struggling to understand?
As it happens this is now a null and void argument as Sony has changed their mind and will no longer require a psn account. Maybe even for future titles as it's shown that there is a customer base that can't get psn accounts.
I'm now intrigued if people will be up in arms about requiring a Microsoft account, as per sea of thieves on ps5.

Arrowhead should tell $ony no, or we’ll walk away. $ony just loves pulling anti consumer moves. PC users should just request a refund then and walk away, fundamentally these T&C changes have a negative impact on the users. This is now what players agreed to a the point of purchase.
Arrowhead have no say they entered into a contract they walk away the game and them suffer Sony won't. Sony owns the IP and was the publisher so they will retain the game the game sales already were great and made its money back for Sony so they wouldn't be hurt in anyway.
