I agree and it would be nice to have the gas a lot more noticeable. It was very hard to gauge the range of the gas since it can sometimes be difficult to make out how far it goes. Thanks for checking out the video!
Especially on those already hard to see maps (like those that have fog), it's incredibly hard to see the exact range of it. And it's not like a barrage where the laser stays for the entire duration so your teammates could see it after it's activated. They need to remember what it was and see where it landed, otherwise it's bound to do a lot of friendly fire.
Bahaha I wish I could recount how many times I’ve thrown a gas strike, forgotten how long it takes to dissipate and run straight into it and kill myself.
11:07 This stratagem will probably be S+Tier against the illuminates. They have low health and rely heavily on their shields, so the gas can probably absolutely slaughter them.
you know out of all the things I learnt this video I was not expecting to find out you good legit dig a hole with the grenade launcher, thats hilarious

I love using Gas Strikes to stop Bug Breaches, now I know a little more about this useful gem. A well researched Helldiver is a deadly Helldiver. Godspeed. o7
It would definitely be a go-to stratagem since if enemies ever do have shields the gas strike will be very effective against them. Thanks for checking out the video!
I think gas mask helmets should not have any effect against the gas strike, cause it's a corrosion effect that dissolves your entire body. great video though!
I guess you're right and that makes sense. It would be interesting if those armor sets that have prosthetic limbs would become "injured" if you're in the corrosive gas. Thanks for checking out the video!
If anything, they should add a HAZMAT armor set thats part of a CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) unit of the Helldiver corps. The helmet passive would be immunity to gas strikes when combined with the armor, the armor would provide immunity to gas strikes and also provide damage resistance to fire.
Great Video! Love the Gas Strike. People call it inferior to the other Air Strikes but the low cooldown of Gas Strike is its actual greatest advantage. You mentioned it already but for anyone else reading: for some reason, the Gas Bomb/Projectile has the same penetration stat like the 500kg bomb, that means, the Gas Strike projectile is able to destroy buildings like Rogue Research Facility, Detector Towers (Eye of Sauron), Stratagem Jammer and Shrieker Nests. I feel like this...may be an oversight of the devs, but I hope it stays cause that adds additional utility to Gas Strike and it's low cooldown.
I also found thats its very good at taking care of bug breach ,the same than that one orbital airstrike that does 3 waves of shrapnel, i think its also underated
Plugging up bug breaches with the gas strike is a sure fire way to get a bunch of multikills and ease up the load of mobs on you and your team. Thanks for checking out the video!
Air burst strike is awesome. Just wish the upgrade that gives another Salvo to all the barrage gave a 4th Salvo to air burst BUT it's still powerful and useful
So I'm only halfway through this video and I plan on using this in my next rounds. This is a great video so far, giving alot if information that doesn't feel like too much.
Really glad to see this, as a Gas Strike since beginning, so much underrated but it's OK then it won't get nerfed :P thanks for the analysis! I'll be more confident using it know.
I've recently picked up the gas strike and have personally seen it most effective on 2 situations. The first is one the missile silo defense mission, to filter out all the smaller bugs and focus of the heavy ones. The second is on any regular mission. The moment I see a bug breach reinforcement I combine it with an ems strike to almost completely negate it. That strategy has prevented me from getting easily overrun many times. Hope this tip helps other helldivers too.
I can't tell if the lack of effectiveness against bots is because of the gas being too specialized for bugs or because the bots are fairly unbalanced. Either way, amazing stratagem
@@etuanno I mean it works but it's not having enough shots/delays to deal with the whole breach duration. Napalm strike on the other hand almost clears it out completely. That's why I'm reducing the usage of it. It's just too op for me when compared to others
Thanks for the info. I take the gas strike every now and again, just to have a bunch of short cooldown stagger in my strategems. With this knowledge though, I can definitely increase my effective use of it. Thanks!
EMS strike + Gas Strike on bug breaches is a very potent combo, throw in an airburst orbital and nothing less than a charger survives. It helps that both are cheap to call in.
The gas strike is very good against bot for three reason reason : Low CD, work well on bot drop, so all good. Bot don't always gather together, but when they do it's extremely hard to clear the grapes of devastator and bot, making the gas strike a great saving tool, and finally : the gaz strike is great at killing slow moving target that'll stay in for the full duration, meaning that is shred all type of devastator, mall bots, and strider, which are the priority target against bot. Sure the berzerker Hulk and tank will walk out of it, but those are meant to be killed last anyways
One thing I wish you mentioned in the video - the gas strike is able to destroy Detector Towers ("eye of sauron"), I always bring it to bot missions because it's the lowest cooldown stratagem that destroys them (on top of being able to destroy fabricators and general usefulness). It can also destroy Jammers if you don't feel like calling in a hellbomb once the jammer is deactivated
I do mention that around 12:17 but I should've had some footage of it to better convey it. I do think calling in a gas strike is something not many people think of when encountering these side objectives so being able to let others know of its uses would make it more used as a stratagem. Thanks for checking out the video!
Two situations I've been using gas strikes, managing bug breaches, kiting bug horde through bottlenecks (or just throw it at your feet and continue running, done right you should get minimal damage from the gas). Combine with ems strike for best effect.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Bottlenecking enemies through a chokepoint and tossing the gas strike is a great way to easily thin out mobs without committing so much. Thanks for checking out the video!
Specifically looking at bugs, to me the problem with the gas is that the smaller to medium enemies are never the problem. Even en masse primaries are more than capable of taking care of them. Where things get problematic is when you are facing multiple bile titans or half a dozen+ chargers. And here the gas strike just does nothing for you.
I fell in love with gas strike since i started but unfortunate it was not doing damage due the DoT bug. It's nice that it was fixed recently. The gas is corrosive this is why it also affects automatons so it does not matter what helmet you wear.
Gas strike + one incindiary impact grenade on a bug breach is usually enough to just.. handle it. Keep a recoiless ready in case chargers or bile titans pop free and you're set.
Great guide. Since thr change to DOT I've been taking it on most missions. The only place it hasn't worked well is steep canyons because the shell will often hit the top lip and not gas the bugs below.
Great tip! I have not been in any planets yet with the very high cliff terrain but it is important to be aware of those when using orbitals in general. Thanks for checking out the video!
There’s few things I find more satisfying than dropping a gas strike and watching the gas take out like 8+ enemies in a sudden instance from the DoT, or dropping it right onto a bug breach and just watching the little combo counter tick up and up
Seeing the multi-kill skull icon go from yellow to red is a wonderful feeling when I use the gas strike so I know how you feel haha. Thanks for checking out the video!
I appreciateg the time and dedication content creators like yourself do, it’s not easy but love the seeing good detailed videos like this 🤙🏼 Hope your channel gets massive!
With the chargers specifically, I've kinda noticed they tend to have something like a 'mortal wounds' threshold, where once they take that much damage, they'll just finish bleeding out on their own in a matter of time, so that might have been what happened with the gas strikes killing them after they ended. Maybe it just doesn't trigger the abdomen burst since the damage that gets that part over the line doesn't really have an associated projectile/explosion when it crosses that line.
been using the gas on almost every bug mission lately, it's up for every bug breach at a 1 min CD and shuts them down for awhile while your teammates run away or get into fighting position. Plus using chemical warfare is fun!
Appreciate the kind words! The smoke strike is definitely an interesting stratagem and I do plan on looking into it in the future! Thanks for checking out the video!
I Always loved the gas strike and now ith the dot being fxed its even greater. Pre patch ive had multiple occasions where i got 30+ kills with one strike on a bug breach(es) now with the fix its even greater. Also a nice strat to use it is when ur getting chased by a lot of mobs is to throw it a few meters in front of you while running so that the strike hits when ur past it and all the mobs chasing you will get hit by the gas
I started taking it in place of the precision strike to knock out fabricators, because the gas does the same thing, with a lower cooldown, and usually gets more kills in the base due to DoT.
i see lots of glory for the instant-kill ship-mounted rail guns, Eagles and 500's. There's a ton of times I've seen the implementation of "Rockets, MOAR Rockets, ALL THE ROCKETS!!!!", and have seen the uses of the 120 and 380 bombardments being *meticulously* taken apart to predict where the Boom lands. And I've heard all the wailing and moaning about the Incendiary approach getting its nerfs. There's been electricity, and rate of fire, knockback, damage nerfs and buffs.... but there's almost no one who's been asking questions and doing research into the DoT area-denial stuff that didn't involve NAPALM. On initial scrutiny the Toxic Cloud just translates as "Generic DoT" without awesome fire-graphics. that made me file it under "Meh" and "Boring". It even got me thinking "Wierd. Why'd they add this if Napalm would do the same thing?" But then I realized something peculiar: That I'd written it off so quickly as irrelevant without so much as a second glance. It's a sleeping strategem hidden plain sight, whose uses aren't appreciated or well understood. If I knew more about how it works, how to develop a knack for it, and a foundation for when and where to use it, I might actually begin to spread the gospel of how it can be used to make big Kill counts on maps with tons of small targets, and even figure out how to make it work to take on Big Bad Automaton Tanks and Giraffes.
I discovered the infinite grenade glitch last night. Me and my buddies all had jetpacks and infinite thermites and impacts. Literally flying over enemies and raining impacts down on them was the most fun I’ve ever had😂
I like it . Should be more damage imo A buff id like to is the following : The initial explosion does damage , following by the area of effect lets a say 15M , all enemies inside get damage over time , time of gas is increased from15 seconds to 20 second ( here the buff part ) once the Enemie leaves the area of effect , the dot timer start 10 seconds , but the target is effective with the “gas” spreading to nearby enemies dealing half the initial damage
This is a nice guide about the gas. i really like it despite how situational it is. i do wish the AOE was a bit bigger. i did not know i could use it to destory bug and bots spawns, gotta keep that in mind.
I've seen people comment on how the bile titan corpse would fling them across the map but I can't recall that ever happening to me haha. I like climbing on them the same with the charger bodies. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@declicitous1763 the damage over time effect used to only work for the host due to network spaghetti or something. The damage is now correctly applied for all players.
My new favorite loadout, now that they fixed DoT, is : breaker incendiary, grenade pistol, incendiary impact. Eagle napalm, orbital gas, ems mortar, free slot. The EMS mortar is goated. It's duration is as long as the cooldown, and as long as it does not take damage it has practically infinite up time.
Best part is watching the kill count tick up slowly. 50-some kills with strike today, bringing 2 of them feels awesome with the current free one agaybugs.
Great video, very informative. Damage over time really is the key to controlling bug breaches. But you don’t have to choose between either gas or fire stratagems. Just use both, I say! Grab the flamethrower too. If it worked against the French, it’ll work against the bugs. Greetings from Germany
I have incidentally noticed that sometimes gas will be blown by high winds, but I can't tell by how much. I also suspect that gas strikes corrode armor , allowing you to penetrate armor more effectively. lastly, I have also noticed that gas strikes tend to reduce the ability of both bugs and bots to call in reinforcements.
That atmosferic interference callout is really important. I was using it on some bug missions and it's too inefective and dangerous to use when that modifier is on.
4:43 I think charger bleed out, so thats how it died. Green particles near charger should be it's blood comming out of a bug's shell. Similar behavior has brood commander (and other bugs and bots, but on commander that's more visible), if you shoot his head off, but shorter time.
12:40 you can actually throw the stratagem through the ventilation like a grenade, I do this a lot with whatever support stratagem that calls in a hellpod, it's a guaranteed destroy
Oh yeah, thanks for pointing that out. That way the shell goes directly into the bot fab. Thanks for your comment and thanks for checking out the video!
I need to get into this, I’m all about DOT builds for the terminids. The only reason I don’t use the napalm strike and gas more often is for my teammates. It’s easier not to kill them by accident when I use the flamethrower and incendiary grenade, less chance they may walk into the area before the attack is done. I might try running it more often and just warn my team I’m bringing DOT everything lol
When I was doing tests on the tesla tower I had to let my teammates know I was using it so they wouldn't run into it. The gas still claims the lives of a few unaware teammates every now and then haha. Thanks for checking out the video!
A stratagem that's able to deal with groups of enemies and objectives and is only on a 75s cooldown. What's not to love! Thanks for checking out the video!
I would like both Orbital Gas and EMS to get a buff. For gas, since it's a corrosive gas any armor value is downgraded by one (or maybe two) value making cleanup of the bulker enemies a bit easier. For EMS, let it actually lock down large enemies like Bile Titans and Tank, etc.
Dude after watching your video I decided to give it a try and while I see its virtues it just kills too many teammates who somehow don’t notice the green cloud. I think so few players use this strat that the average player doesn’t understand how long they have to stay out of the impact zone after detonation
I do think not a lot of people are aware of the gas when it's called in. I've seen my fair share of teammates run into the gas similar to running into the tesla tower. They got to learn somehow haha. Thanks for checking out the video!
One thing I wish they would do is make it so we could "ignite" the gas cloud if we use any incendiary weaponry on it, like say the Impact Incendiary or the Punisher Incendiary. Kaboom...
Interactions with the gas cloud like turning it into a burning cloud of gas or electrifying it with an arc weapon would make it super fun to combo. Thanks for your comment and thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing I've been using the Gas Strike since release, and it's still my go-to in most cases. I like your idea of giving the Ground Breaker helmet the gas-immune passive. I'd rather have the devs take it slow and steady instead of just shoveling half-baked content out the door like they have been doing.
I have a lot of fun using the Gas Strike and I really hope we get more weapons that use this unique tool. Toxic sprayer support weapon maybe? Gas grenades? Eagle gas strike? possibilities are endless; Hopefully there's even an armor type resistant to gas.
I find it to be a stragem I always pick as long as orbital scatter is not a modifier… the gas strike crab close bug holes and bot factory’s with a direct hit. Clears the fodder mobs.
on solo helldive on terminids I hit a triple digit kill count with just the gas strike, love it and been using it constantly. Im a stun build with some crowd control and this is my main tool
The one thing I ask for is this thing to corrode armour so an enemy in the gas has reduced armour levels so light weapons do medium, medium does heavy, and heavy obliterates. Or just increase the damage taken in the gas by firearms.

Automatons require a different approach with Gas Strike than Bugs. While tiny Bugs will cheerfully march into your Gas Strike, Bots will obligingly remain in the gas strike and shoot at you, instead of potentially leaving it's area.

They REALLY need to make the entire area of effect more obvious, that little green cloud in the middle is deceiving
I always combo Napalm Strike with the Gas Strike.
Adds burning and slow effect on top. Very powerful vs bugs.
11:07 This stratagem will probably be S+Tier against the illuminates. They have low health and rely heavily on their shields, so the gas can probably absolutely slaughter them.
Gas meta is here when the illuminates come. Thanks for checking out the video!
you know out of all the things I learnt this video I was not expecting to find out you good legit dig a hole with the grenade launcher, thats hilarious
When we finally get the anti-tank mines, I want to "dig" trenches in that defense mission and place a bunch of mines like it is no-mans-land haha. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing sadly not in this major order
I love using Gas Strikes to stop Bug Breaches, now I know a little more about this useful gem. A well researched Helldiver is a deadly Helldiver. Godspeed. o7
This is a worthwhile video and I appreciate you taking the time to put it all together. Thank you. Please keep up the good work.
Thanks for checking out the video and I appreciate the kind words!
Ok so after watching this I ran gas strike all yesterday and this morning and I am absolutely loving it, ty wally!
Great to hear you’re having a blast! Thanks for your comment!
amazing information.
research like this is deeply appreciated. thank you helldiver
Takibo all DoT 9209203 kill solo run video when?
Appreciate the love and support! Thanks for checking out the video!
11:05 I saw this and whent out loud "OOOOH this weapons is an anti Illuminate weapon". I am pretty sure some of them will be rocking shields.
Thanks for checking out the video!
depending on the chemical agent it might be able to be neutralized in a mask.
Thanks for your kind words and I appreciate you checking out the video!
Gas. Forever. Solves all problems. Bugs? Gas. Bots? Gas. Cheating spouse? Gas.
Appreciate your comment and thanks for checking out the video!
This is helpful thank you, i run it regularly (while wearing the gas mask helm) and its short cooldown helps my build a lot.
Glad to help! Thanks for checking out the video and I appreciate your kind words!
I was actually about to play around with an exterminator type build and I was contemplating if i should bring the gas strike
Great review based on gameplay testing and experience. Fantastic job, thanks.
Much appreciated! Thanks for checking out the video!
This video is a god send. Ive recently gotten bored of always using napalm strike on bugs and wanted something new. I will be trying it now.
Thanks for checking out the video and hope you have a great time with the gas strike!
I often use the orbital burst strike strategem against the bugs. Just throw it a bug breach and forget.
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed the video and glad to help as well. Appreciate you checking out the video!
Get heavy medyc armor, put gas on you, get flamethrower and ammo backpack, stay in gas taking stims while burning everything around.
Good testing and presentation of your findings. Thank you
Thanks for your support and kind words! I appreciate you checking out the video!
Great content man! It seems like you did a lot of testing. Thanks for the upload!
Appreciate your kind words! It's always fun to do these tests and experiments so my pleasure! Thanks for checking out the video
I fell in love with gas strike since i started but unfortunate it was not doing damage due the DoT bug. It's nice that it was fixed recently.
The gas is corrosive this is why it also affects automatons so it does not matter what helmet you wear.
Glad to hear from a fellow gas strike user. Thanks for checking out the video!
Appreciate your testing dude
Good facts and testing Helldiver, the Ministry of Truth would likely approve of this.
Appreciate your kind words and thanks for checking out the video!
Good stuff. I hadn't given any thought to the explosive trait. Gotta try using that part of the gas strike.
Thanks for your comment and hope you have a great time running the gas strike!
Amazing video, very informative, I’ve always liked the gas strike I’ll definitely be using it more, thanks for all the tips 👌🏼
Thanks for checking out the video and thank you for your kind words!
I'd love to see a video like this about the smoke strike, it fucks on bot missions. good work homie 👍
Very extensive video, well done you've earned my sub.
Appreciate the kind words and the support! Thanks for checking out the video!
From a player who’s died from Gas strike, please be use caution. Many games we had to tell randoms to “stop” because he killed the team 7 times.
i see lots of glory for the instant-kill ship-mounted rail guns, Eagles and 500's.
Flame thrower, gas strike, 500kg, and LAS rover absolutely devastates bugs. Gives the hordes a relieving bug stomping
Spectacular details. Nice job and thanks.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I discovered the infinite grenade glitch last night. Me and my buddies all had jetpacks and infinite thermites and impacts. Literally flying over enemies and raining impacts down on them was the most fun I’ve ever had😂
Great video thanks so much for putting it together. I’ve been eyeing the gas strike recently
Glad to help! Hope you have a great time using it in your games. Thanks for checking out the video!
I like it .
Should be more damage imo
A buff id like to is the following :
The initial explosion does damage , following by the area of effect lets a say 15M , all enemies inside get damage over time , time of gas is increased from15 seconds to 20 second ( here the buff part ) once the Enemie leaves the area of effect , the dot timer start 10 seconds , but the target is effective with the “gas” spreading to nearby enemies dealing half the initial damage
This is a nice guide about the gas. i really like it despite how situational it is. i do wish the AOE was a bit bigger. i did not know i could use it to destory bug and bots spawns, gotta keep that in mind.
Thanks for your kind words. Appreciate you checking out the video!
Super video Citizen. Educational and chock full of Democracy.
Just doing my part for Super Earth. Thanks for checking out the video!
Felt great throwing a gas strike on top of a bug breach, raining on it with a Scythe + EMS mortar, and getting like 80 kills
Literally couldn't even focus on what you were saying at 00:19 because I was terrified watching you climb on top of that bile titan corpse. D:
I've seen people comment on how the bile titan corpse would fling them across the map but I can't recall that ever happening to me haha. I like climbing on them the same with the charger bodies. Thanks for checking out the video!
the gas strike is my favourite war crime. i love watching the kill count go up when u drop it on fresh bug holes lol
Cant wait to watch this after stream I use it over the airburst now for bug holes im so glad its fixed.
How was it fixed
@@declicitous1763 the damage over time effect used to only work for the host due to network spaghetti or something. The damage is now correctly applied for all players.
@@erwin101 oh well yeah that is good
@@erwin101lol literally the first thing in the video
Been loving the gas strike since even before the fix. Dropping it onto a bug breach almost singlehandedly deals with it.
My new favorite loadout, now that they fixed DoT, is :
breaker incendiary, grenade pistol, incendiary impact.
Also keep in mind that the 18m radius is measured off of your pov, not off of your diver. When you ADS, itll more precisely show 15m radius.
Great video, very informative. Damage over time really is the key to controlling bug breaches. But you don’t have to choose between either gas or fire stratagems. Just use both, I say! Grab the flamethrower too. If it worked against the French, it’ll work against the bugs. Greetings from Germany
Appreciate the kind words! Thanks for checking out the video and great to hear people from different parts of the world are tuning in!
I have gotten like a 30 kill with the gas strike, you can use it to destroy automaton fabricators too.
For EMS, let it actually lock down large enemies like Bile Titans and Tank, etc.
impressive! very very informative video, much appreciated!
Glad it was helpful!
@@Wallbouncing Thanks for sharing your experience. Still enjoying the gas strike and especially the cooldown
gas strike is so good, 20-40 kills every minute goes hard
It literally just makes sense. Helmets should have passives like that by now, like night/snow vision or something. But time will tell. I'd rather have the devs take it slow and steady instead of just shoveling half-baked content out the door like they have been doing.
Nice testing we appreciate your work. I like it with bugs using the flamethrower and let my teammates handle the heavier bugs with the jump pack. 🍻
Thanks for your kind words and appreciate you checking out the video!
I am level 93. I only started using the gas strike this week. I love it.
Glad to hear! You're doing good work out there for Super Earth! Appreciate you checking out the video!
really well made video bro phenomenal content
Appreciate your kind words and glad you enjoyed it!
The one thing I ask for is this thing to corrode armour so an enemy in the gas has reduced armour levels so light weapons do medium, medium does heavy, and heavy obliterates.
Or just increase the damage taken in the gas by firearms.
lately i have been trying out some of lower cooldown orbitals in my flex slot and trying to make an effort to call them in as often as possible to see if they're actually effective in the higher difficulties. i actually like the gatling barrage decently well but this definitely sold me on trying out the gas!
I also enjoy using the gatling barrage and glad you're interested in checking out the gas strike. Hope you have a great time with it! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing had a great time the past two nights running it and it's now one of my favorite stratagems but it also crashed my game 3 times :( i pray this gets fixed soon
Automatons require a different approach with Gas Strike than Bugs.
While tiny Bugs will cheerfully march into your Gas Strike, Bots will obligingly remain in the gas strike and shoot at you, instead of potentially leaving it's area.
4:40 Chargers bleed after taking a certain amount of damage which is always fatal, you can see the blood coming off in this clip
You didn't mention in the video, bit Orbital Gas also destroys Detector Towers, not sure if it's the missle impact or the Gas, but I always throw it at the base, and it works.
I also heard it can Destroy Jammer tower, but I still haven't tried it, because it's easier to call Hellbomb after Deactivating the tower.
But great video, thx fellow Gas user
I only mentioned it verify briefly around 12:17. I should've accompanied it with some footage to better convey the destructive power of the gas strike shell in the call-in. It can destroy the Jammer tower after it's been disabled and yeah it can also destroy the detector tower with a good shot. I think the key to landing the bullseye is knowing which super destroyer is yours so you can get the angle when it fires it into the map. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing Ah sorry, I probably didn't notice it... Since it's included then I'm sorry. I probably was hoping to see the explosion on video.
