      Also, there is something up with your audio that reduces the production quality, the loudness of your voice changes between what i assume is takes, and goes from slightly blown out to muffled, dunno if it was just me, but maybe an equalizer and looking into sound editing on top of the graphics might make it even better!

      You have a seemingly arbitrary armor value, but if you mouse over the number, it'll tell you exactly the amount of Damage reduction you're getting from it

    Honestly this is one huge advertisement for Vitality Booster, running that plus Fortified has been a lifesaver in bot missions where I KNOW I should've died from a hit (like a Devastator rocket or a nearby tank shot impact)
    But now that I kinda have an idea about the Armor Padding and Democracy Protects, this will help. I mostly disregarded Extra Padding because of the dubious effectiveness of it (and also because of the pretense of it being one of the first armors you unlock, and in most games that means it's meant to be 'outgrown') but after this, it's another piece of armor worthy of consideration added to the toolbox.

    I feel like with the Armors in the game, they should try and do some things that isn't so massed producted; which i get can be kinda part of the point of helldivers being 18 and constantly joining, but, having armor that does reflect enemy damage but slows you down ALOT
    Or armor that increase distance of all thrown things, armor that gives extra rockets, extra primary ammo, ammo for machine guns, maybe an armor set for energy based weapons
    Something more than just
    Throw stratigums farther
    2 extra grenades
    2 extra stims
    Less explosion damage
    Extra armor by defaults (not like it really does anything)

  • @aarrondixon700
    @aarrondixon700 4 месяца назад

    To be fair to Fortified, it also has 30% recoil reduction, which I've seen from other video testing works even while standing, and is pretty nice with certain weapons like the Autocannon. So while you'll generally get more defensive value out of Extra Padding, Fortified gives a solid offensive edge as well. Fortified is a really decent bot perk if you're running AC. Bugs, I thought it was kind of pointless, and Engineering Kit was strictly better if you wanted the recoil reduction, but now that I know acid counts as explosive, it's looking up.

    • @EravinVT
      @EravinVT  4 месяца назад

      Yeah Recoil Reduction can also be a part of choosing one or the other, But knowing the explosive resistance outside of bugs does not really help you survive as much as you would expect is an important take away

  • @hucast450
    @hucast450 3 месяца назад

    The Fortified isn't as useful as extra padding for most damage, but I suppose that should be obvious since it's only 1/2 of it's perks. It comes with really good recoil mitigation after all. A big thing I was wondering is because armor doesn't increase your health, just DR, the speed at which stims heal you is effectively doubled. I have seen this in play too, if you stim in heavy armor the amount of spike damage it takes to kill you is basically impossible to receive, so while on paper its 2x more damage than light, in SHTF scenarios, stims keep you alive far better.

      I plan to revisit Servo-Assisted with and without Vitality Enhancement (with some help from some friends willing to shoot me over and over again across about 12 armors). I appreciate your GitHub post. I’ll compare what I get out of that as I’ll be testing Light, Medium, and Heavy armors. Cheers!
      Edit: one last thing I forgot to mention. I was testing the effects of those Bug Plants (orange pustules) regarding the slow debuff and was running Vitality Enhancement for a baseline. I must have run over 20+ and took zero damage. Got me thinking that perhaps Vitality Enhancement provides damage reduction and not a health increase. I’ve been thinking about the drowning issue with Vitality Enhancement a while ago that was patched out. It was used as confirmation that we have increased health. Perhaps, instead drowning was coded to do flat damage, ignoring armor resistance, but the devs forgot about accounting for Vitality Enhancement.

      Part of it is probably the game design leaning to immersive gameplay and decisions/learning coming from experience more than min-maxing and number crunching. So they deliberately kept a lot of info abstract, so that players feel it out, kinda like how a solider IRL doesn't know all the exact mathematical details, just the general intent of his gear.
      That said, certain areas of the info we get certainly could be improved, since the immersive design concept relies massively on things being intuitive and the info given not being misleading. Eravin, quick question. According to the patch 01.000.300 - Armors with armor rating above 100 now also reduce damage on headshots. Does the "Extra Padding" perk not interact with this calculation? @5:26 The B-01 Tactical displayed has Extra Padding putting it at 150 Armor, but the headshot dmg is not decreased like the B-24 Enforcer. Can you explain this?

    • @speedyazi5029
      @speedyazi5029 4 месяца назад +1

      I think extra padding would apply to the B01 armour. He was referring to the general medium armour stat of 100. The B01 does reduce headshot damage as the rating is above 100.

    • @COA5T
      @COA5T 4 месяца назад

      @@speedyazi5029 If that's the case, okay, but that's not what was stated in the video. If B-01 and B-24 are both Medium and both above 100 Armor, why is the headshot dmg reduction that is shown different? It would make sense "if" Extra Padding does not interact with that calculation, which was what I was trying to confirm. The base armor of B-01 is 100, with Extra Padding adding 50 armor. So naturally, without the perk it would not go above 100, just like the other medium armors. In the case of B-24, it's actual base armor is 129 so it is already crossing that threshold without any perk. So I can only assume Extra Padding is not considered.

    • @EravinVT
      @EravinVT  4 месяца назад +3

      I just left it in as the base armor but the numbers rep any non padded 100 armor, sorry for the confusion. Padded works the same as having 150 armor if its 100+50. No difference in headshots between 100+50 and 150 base

    From my experience, mobility is just not worth sacrificing for some extra survivability most of the time. Even in cases where armor saves me, I probably wouldn't be in that situation if I had extra mobility.

    I love the useless in game info. It's so realistic. If you get an AR-15 it has no damage rating. The way you learn what it can do is by using it.

    Hey, I dunno maybe you've already done some new testing and/or you have access to some data sheets etc, but I would like to ask you. What's best armor rn for overall survivability(if for some reason you decide to take damage): servo assisted, extra padding or fortified? Because from my d10 experience Its or you run medium+ fortified or you get oneshotted by rockets from striders, even wearing any other 150AR armor(or you run scout and you avoid those unfortunate confrontations).
    Sometimes you can randomly die to a normal bot with an AR firing few shots in your general direction(assuming you're wearing light armor), or to a MG bot's small barrage of bullets, even in medium(100 AR).
    Maybe its just me, but it feels like you take LESS damage from hitting any obstacle when you get launched into the air by explosions when you wear fortified? Plus it feels like you got launched not that far by explosion and not at mach 10 speed, if you wear fortified. Just want to know your opinion on this, if you have time.

      damage received has been boosted 15-17.7% in most cases, the bots have also got 25% more damage on their lasers, and claws deal 25% more damage, it's glass divers 2 now, not getting shot is your only option

    Wow 3:15 so That booster Increases your armor? Interesting.
    I really hope the new team in arrowhead will make this stuff a lot more clearer. Because wow

      Effectively it improves your damage resistance the same as armor does yeah

    I love the enforcer armor. It feels like a really good spot for being tanky but not being quite as slow as the innate150s. Probably my favorite bot armor, big bonus it's got a fashionable Star Wars trooper look to it and fortified to deal with all the explosions.

    the mobility offered by light armor is simply better. don't have to mitigate damage if yo'ure not being hit. light gunner all the way!

    Looks like extra padding vs robots, and explosive resist vs bugs because of the GD bile spewers. WHY they don't explain damage and perks better is beyond me... Great info here ty!

    the marshmellow man armor has 200 armor due to its passive, so it cannot have another passive such as fortified or democracy protects
