People always say they'd be villains if they had powers, nah, they'd think they would bit as soon as they see a children's hospital on fire they're gonna be saving it
People are naturally inclined to be good unless youre either traumatized or a straight up psychopath. If the average guy somehow obtains superpowers, he certainly will do some underhanded stuff normal people couldnt to benefit himself, but he will also try to save anyone who ask for it. Some people think they could be Superman, while most think they would become Homelander, i personally think that they will become like Sonic instead. He is unambigously a good guy but he isnt above "victimless crimes"
This warms my heart as a gamer! To know that as a collective, the majority had heart to save a virtual hospital in a virtual war. To see how we were rewarded with the biggest morale booster ever. This is just amazing. Love this game and the community
The 30% who went for the mines, would have actually soaked up a massive force that could have reinforced the enemy attacking the children's planet. The consequences of a good stratagem extends out beyond individual engagements.
Thats honestly a great experiment. That proved humanity can be better. There was no reason to save the hospital. But we did it anyway. Its a video game, yet we still focused on the fictional children. Its awesome they donated. Im happy and proud to have been part of the divers there

Legit, one of my friends who's hardcore into HD2 and the community told me the other day; apparently it's become a meme in itself to never take the mines. It's apparently been an option multiple times and people have always chosen the other option, so now even without any expected reward, most players decided that no reward was better than ending the bit and unlocking the mines. Luckily, it had a wholesome outcome as well, but it's still funny to me that something like that wasn't "cool IRL reward from selflessness" but rather "taking a joke so far that it becomes wholesome".
70% of soldiers were there to save the children, the other 30% gave there lives to make sure those clankers were distracted and unable to send back up.
I could imagine they could have a plot point about one of the kids from the hospital being a child prodigy who ends up making a lot of new weapons for the helldivers.
That 30% of those Helldivers weren't against saving the children. They knew they couldn't get out of there with at least one of them dying. They gave their lives so that the 70% could save all the children.

The blackened clouds light up, stars shining through in such quantity that you think the clouds cleared up. Then those very stars turn into comets. Just hundreds of thousands of them raining down. Man those machines felt nearly the entire fleets wrath.
The sad truth is most helldivers players aren't exactly speed and precision incarnate so lots of those kids still got yeeted by the automatons or helldivers that weren't especially careful
now imagine, you're a real child in real life, and a video game company that has made well over 200 million dollars (as of months ago) uses you as a prop to donate one weeks pay of a low paid devs salary to a charity that benefits you lmao truly massive for getting 70% of a few million people to "save the children". Every dollar counts if the money is used properly, but it loses some of its meaning when you know with absolute certainty that the amount provided was skimped on lmao. not doing some sort of silly little skin that proceeds to go the same charity to have the players chip in even, just fuckin 4k and a request for praise, holy.

i had discussions about this with a friend over the Responders faction in fallout 76. in the event of an apocalypse or any disaster, people are more likely to band together and help each other out over raiding and pillaging

The blackened clouds light up, stars shining through in such quantity that you think the clouds cleared up. Then those very stars turn into comets. Just hundreds of thousands of them raining down.
Man those machines felt nearly the entire fleets wrath.
To the children those soldiers were super heroes coming to save them.
The sad truth is most helldivers players aren't exactly speed and precision incarnate so lots of those kids still got yeeted by the automatons or helldivers that weren't especially careful

truly massive for getting 70% of a few million people to "save the children". Every dollar counts if the money is used properly, but it loses some of its meaning when you know with absolute certainty that the amount provided was skimped on lmao.

I’m loving this community, they are an incredibly rare display of the true power of a community of gamer with a common goal, to have fun and to help others have fun as well. You won’t find an example of this in many other video game communities. The world needs more of this kindness.

'We stopped and visited some of the kids. Handed out empty shell casings, took some victory pose photos, and S2 even let them sit in their Patriot.

i had discussions about this with a friend over the Responders faction in fallout 76. in the event of an apocalypse or any disaster, people are more likely to band together and help each other out over raiding and pillaging

It isnt winning it after sony drove away 170+ countries from being able to play it and heavily pissing off the playerbase. Is it game of the year. Yes. Is it game of the decade. YES. Will it win it though. I hate to say it but sony pulled defeat from the jaws of victory. And lost over 7 billion dollars because of this action. Alot of investors pulled out because of this. And alot of players still refuse to play it until all countries are not blacklisted anymore "WE DIVE TOGETHER OR WE DONT DIVE AT ALL"
