About a decade ago I built myself a tiny one person caravan. The first few times I used it I woke up with a bad headache. I determined that there was not enough airflow and a buildup of CO2. A small 12V fan from an old computer power supply solved that problem. It also got rid of the condensation on the inside of the roof.

This is a really awesome concept. I think I am going to make one of these. 0) They make similar trailers out of aluminum. and they make structural foam with aluminum sides. 1) If you keep the fold up kitchen box on the side, you should at least have it taper in the front, rather than be at a 90 degree angle to the wind -- this is for the sake of aerodynamics. It would not be hard to add that on to the box you already built. 2) If it were me, I would paint the entire underside including the steel with truck bed liner paint -- to protect it not only from water and gravel but also from salt in winter. 3) Your entire camper would fit under a 10 x 10 pop up canopy tent, or even a 12 x 12. If the length of the trailer was oriented from corner to corner of the pop up you would be protected from rain while getting in or out, and also while cooking. You could also mount a windbreak. In travel mode the canopy would easily fold up and fit in the camper or car. 4) If you want to have solar panels, the 10 x 10 canopy cover could be made out of clear green-house plastic in stead of canvas. 5) In the kitchen area I would make a counter top table with fold up legs that is only 16" wide and six feet long. I would place it perpendicular, to make an L shaped kitchen. You can never have too much counter top. 6) What about an ice chest? I would carry it in the car, and have a little fold up stand to get it high enough off the ground. 7) Where you put your TV, I would put in a very small charcoal burning heater to stay cozy -- but that is just me. 8) A rechargeable small fan placed near the open window the way you made it, might be enough ventilation, but I would mount a star gazing skylight and also a fan in the ceiling. Nothing wrong with redundancy.
For solar, it would probably be better to use potable panels that can be placed out in the sun while this unit is in the shade. Open flame should be avoided in a unit this small. Nice. Mostly great, just a couple nitpicks. The standard in North America is to have the door on the curb side of the trailer. If you're parked on a busy street, it will be harder to safely access the interior of the trailer. Consider making the outside kitchen smaller and portable so it can be taken off and stashed inside the trailer or tow vehicle. If you used 120v wiring, I hope you left your junction boxes accessible. There's a few more, but I'll leave it at that. It is a noticable improvement from your $1000 trailer video. I look forward to seeing what you do next.

FYI, I use the $95 biggest oak plywood I can find at Lowes and use it for table tops and it is super strong, so far no cracking. My biggest table top is a full sheet, 8x4 for a huge workbench and I do walk on it, 285 pounds.
One small issue I see is that the doorway has no weather buffer area so if you've gotta climb in during a downpour, you're getting your bed and sheets wet. Not a major issue if you've dealt with worse, but certainly not ideal. I'm quite familiar with sleeping under wet blankets and it's NOT a fun way to wake up, particularly if you don't have a hot shower to get your body temp back up quickly.
Great video but I’m wondering what you used for power, did you just run it from the car ? Really like the camper though because I’m looking to make something to tow behind my harley
Great job on the build looks like you thought of everything the only thing I would have done different is you're putting the base together I would use treated wood just because there's going to be a lot of moisture between that metal and the base of the camper so treated wood for the base would really help with all that moisture
I love that. One thing I recommend is to get a portable power station so you can power the trailer from the inside. My personal recommendation would be the EcoFlow River 2. I have one myself, and it fits nicely on my nightstand.
Epic! Watch out for expansion on the wood under the bedliner. It will cause cracking. I know because I did the same thing and even had epoxy! Just inspect once in awhile and you should be good!
@@ChayDenne certainly could. Or even use any other urethane-based product sealer. Apparently, epoxy and urethane products bond so you could do that too.
Looks good. I am assumimg you guys don't have to register your trailers and campers as I have seen a few videos now where people don't have registration plates on yet are driving/towing on main roads. Here in Australia anything that goes on the road must be registered. Enjoy your little camper.
That’s Awesome it feels so satisfying to see another one of these more luxurious mini campers after the first one you guys built for your bike didn’t work this is super Dope.
I absolutely love this! 2 things I would add: 1. Solar panels & battery in the event there is no power, this is a personal touch I would add. 2. You can get a computer slightly bigger than what a USB stick would be for a few hundred dollars, do with that what you would like. I like the TV since not only is it Roku and you have apps, but I think you could also download movies/TV shows depending on the app? (If I'm mistaken, refer to my computer USB stick) You can also attach a Switch or something to play video games too. I would love something like this!
Cool build! But why would you restrict access to the ports of your tv? And, do your feet actually fit underneath the shelf? Oh and last thing, shouldn't you have sealed the outside floor panel as well since rain will get up there while driving?
This is very cool! I would suggest a couple tiny add-ons, like a couple pocket nets on the wall to store small or thin items you might want on hand, and a small bendable reading lamp to clipped on the shelf or mounted on the wall if those little ceiling lights aren't enough. I'm guessing a skylight wouldn't be helpful as it would let heat escape. Also wondering about a small fan to keep air moving in warm weather. My only questions are, because this is so lightweight, hw does the fold-out kitchen not put the whole thing off-balance? And where does the water from the sink go? Does it just empty out onto the ground?
Good point on streamlining. However, the speed and overall quality in how this was made are impressive. Maybe they or someone can make an improved version of this, which can allow for two people to sleep. Basically a slightly larger version with some improvements to streamlining and durability, and possibly have a battery storage with a way to add solar panels. .
I would put a gally on my minivan or SUV. My wife could not sleep in one of these tear drop trailers so this would be good for me. My wife can Sleep in the mini van. 73

Nice but I would have spent $22 more with pressure treated lumber underneath. This will be rotted in a year. I suppose you can then do a complete off frame restoration video next.
Awesome camper! One thing that can be improved is aerodynamics. I recommend putting the kitchen on the back of the camper, as how it is mounted on the side is a big brick, and it will likely hurt the aerodynamics a lot. By mounting it on the back it might help a lot with the MPG of the car towing it.
The one thing you should really consider is to waterproof the bottom, the rot will start there and everywhere you screwed into the side for power or signal lighting needs caulking to prevent water penetration. I used to build tiny homes and a lot of people miss these things or don't consider it but those areas will be the first to go when it starts to rot.

btw your wood forming isn't right, you're suppose to keep the wood hot and soaked when your form it. But the way you're forming it would also trap the moister. Instead use a framing tac nails where your screw will go and pin the wood in shape while it's hot. you can keep the sides hot by draping a towel or old blanket over it that is soaked in boiling water. When you're done letting the wood cool, you can pull your tac nails out and use the holes they've created as pilot holes for your screws. Just be sure to take the wood off so the wood can dry again after it's formed.

That is the best thing I have seen on RUclips for a very long time and I am in awe of what you have accomplished! Thanks for posting this brilliant video, saved and subscribed 👍🏼😎
Turned out really neat! I would have liked to add an additional window on the other side of the bed (make it small enough to fit next to the outdoor kitchen), so I could have cross breeze ventilation. Also an addition of a skylight to make the sleeping area feel larger and airy.
Seems like a lot of work for almost no reward. It's tiny on a dodgy trailer and provides almost no insulation from the environment. You might as well just get a van or car with a roomy back and sleep in that.
I am confused about having to register as an RV. Cops told me if you put a bed in a trailer you have to register it as an RV and pay those funny portable house taxes but I don't think that applies to temporarily putting a matress in a van or trailer. Did you have to register that trailer as an RV?
How fast could you get out of that rolling coffin if some idiot starts a bonfire under it while you’re sleeping ? In this world we live in it’s a valid question.
This video came at the best time in my life. I was getting so discouraged looking at prices for campers and never thought i could build one! Not only can it be done but also its way cheaper and perfect for all 5’8 of me 😅
Amazing! I love your micro camper! It's so cute and tiny, it would be useful for camping! Two questions though: 1. Why didný you insulate the walls? Only insolating the roof is not the most efficient thing. I'm sure you could've made the micro camper a little bit wider so there would still be space for the insulation. 2. Why not let the kitchen be access from inside the micro camper? I do love the folding kitchen idea though, but still I am worried that would break off too easily even with the reinforcements you did.
I'd have added curtains/blinds or something to the window and door, else you're getting woken up at dawn. Plus lockable catches for the fold-down bit (and the power socket inside the fold down bit as someone was already suggested) otherwise, that's a pretty cool mini camper
Yeah, i just love smell of the toxic foam in the morning in my walls and my ceiling! Just need to add some asbestos as wallpapers in this coffin on weels. This is life❤❤❤
Awesome! Wish I could live in a tiny camper. Can’t afford one. Or a car. Disabled, poor, and broke. I love living vicariously through others like you. ❤
After seeing this one I can see the changes I would make . One I have a long torso instead of my legs so I would put my head on the other end and I wouldn’t worry about a television. I would just watch my laptop or my phone but I’m not much of a TV person. They really need to make that truck bedliner with color, but that was genius. The other thing I would do so I don’t have to worry about electricity is I would’ve just got a propane stove they’re about $30 at Walmart. You’re gonna have your car anyway so you could’ve stored it in there, but a full down table would’ve been sweet. There’s really helps us all get ideas and as we see how it would work better for us now we can change it. You guys are genius.
There are a lot of companies now that are making these little micro camper type things. Some are so light that they can be pulled quite easily with a bicycle. It's pretty cool if you the type of person that just wants to jump in a bike and ride somewhere or take a long distance trip.
fold-down kitchen is what i was thinking. instead of plywood interior, have you considered shower panels? there's a premium sheet that's about 1/8" thick, and a thinner sheet that's closer to 1/16" thick. rooftop solar? batteries in the floor? foam insulation on the walls? but yes, as others have said, bedliner the underside too. and yes, there's WHITE bedliner, probably other colors too.
oh wow! ill have to check out those panels! 1/16th would be awesome so far, winter camping in there has been great with no wall insulation, that being said, in the summertime i bet we will need it thanks for the advice!
@@ChayDenne actually i have a project going with this stuff (but no channel, yet)... it's called polywall at lowe's. label says "protects walls from moisture and abuse." should easily glue up to the underside of your stringers, very flexible too so don't have to kerf around tight bends.
What a great build! I think that I would have painted the bottom with that truck bed liner stuff to protect it from road spray. What did it cost to build?
A first build like this is kind of a prototype - some good ideas on how to improve it but I think it is really well-done. Certainly useful for nearby camping. I would like to know final budget for supplies (not decorations). Have you posted that somewhere
Awesome job guys, cool build! I do question the durability and longevity of that build and said components but it should be fun for a good few times! Awesome
Cool build! But while the top of the camper is insulated, what about the sides and underneath the bed. Since the camper doesn't have heat, what do you do if it's REALLY cold? But if you're exclusively using it in the summer, it might not be too bad. I would recommend a little fan that could be mounted to the ceiling or wall for air flow. I also agree about waterproofing the undercarriage. I'm not trying to pee in your cornflakes, just something to think about.
Pretty cool! I'll stick to sleeping in the back of my Outback and watching "TV" on my iPad though. Somehow just feels safer, easier to drive and get around. Love the passion though.

I like the simplistic nature of this teardrop coffin build.
What I was thinking! Id be extremely claustrophobic.
@@Veroveren Having my head at the SMALL,low end of the trailer would be claustrophobic. Plus harder getting out fast if you need to. But then you can't watch TV....who watches TV when they're CAMPING? the whole idea is to escape civilization. I suppose he could have a fold-down TV mount on the ceiling at the low end,so he could watch TV.
The use of truck bed liner for waterproofing is GENIUS! I love this build! Well done.

I picked up a dual jet ski trailer and have made interchangeable beds: 2 kayaks, foldable clamshell rowboat/enclosed trailer, dump trailer/flat bed and I pull it with my Prius.
Nice. That rug really tied the camper together.

Unfortunately it won’t last very long with the plywood being soaked.
He painted it with truck-bed liner paint, which is waterproof.
@@susanr.562 Not the underside, which will definetly start desintegrating after getting wet and damaged from rocks and stuff while driving.
@@brokestudent8548 Ohh.Missed that.
@@brokestudent8548 I would like to think they used treated plywood, but even that isn't a guaranty
Just inspect once in awhile and you should be good!
thats a good thought, if it were to crack, what should we do you think? re-apply?
2 things I would add:
What a really cool idea and build. I love the simplicity of this camper.
thank you! thats what i love about it as well
I think it's going to need more vents. I can see condensation becoming a problem. I love the basic idea!
That's pretty cool. I think the fold down kitchen on the back might be better aerodynamics. And maybe an awning above the kitchen.

@@HaroutBlackdid Jesus have a mini camper?
Nice but I would have spent $22 more with pressure treated lumber underneath. This will be rotted in a year. I suppose you can then do a complete off frame restoration video next.
Awesome camper! One thing that can be improved is aerodynamics. I recommend putting the kitchen on the back of the camper, as how it is mounted on the side is a big brick, and it will likely hurt the aerodynamics a lot. By mounting it on the back it might help a lot with the MPG of the car towing it.
The big brick on the side is a huge boost to aerodynamics, as long as you are using the term correctly.
Or make an angle to the front end of it. Probably pretty negligible mph effect anyway
That was my favourite build so far, that you guys have made, I would totally buy it if you were selling.
Fantastic build lads ,that attached to a pedal bike would really help the people who sleep on the streets in london and other parts of the UK

Great job, but I have some advice. Transformers need air circulation to cool down. the same ones are surrounded with flammable isolation, and it is a better option to use stone wool instead due to the fact it is fireproof.

What's stopping him from making a series where he survives in this thing for a week with some kind of twist like doordash only etc
@@freerice9595 wow yeah thats a great idea.
btw your wood forming isn't right, you're suppose to keep the wood hot and soaked when your form it.

The music is like a choir of angels singing a song about the beauty of what they see. And the song changes every 5 min approximately and each song is so beautiful it brings a peace to me I’ve not felt in many years. This type of peace brings tears to your eyes. Makes you grateful for the life you live and overrides all negatively. I’m at 29 minutes in and the music is heavenly.
Should of installed some flexible solar on the roof and put a spot for a Jackery (or other powerbank), overall very impressive, came out really good!

That is the best thing I have seen on RUclips for a very long time and I am in awe of what you have accomplished! Thanks for posting this brilliant video, saved and subscribed 👍🏼😎
im honored to hear that! thank you so much!
I lived in a van for several years. Pull the back seats out, put in a cot. It was great and easy, took 30 minutes to convert.
It's like sleeping in a coffin
I am confused about having to register as an RV. Cops told me if you put a bed in a trailer you have to register it as an RV and pay those funny portable house taxes but I don't think that applies to temporarily putting a matress in a van or trailer. Did you have to register that trailer as an RV?
How fast could you get out of that rolling coffin if some idiot starts a bonfire under it while you’re sleeping ? In this world we live in it’s a valid question.
This video came at the best time in my life.
I was getting so discouraged looking at prices for campers and never thought i could build one!

This build has given me tons of ideas. Thanks for showing the process!
Amazing! I love your micro camper! It's so cute and tiny, it would be useful for camping!
Two questions though:
When he was using that rotozip tat was really a classic two
Person job moment 😂
Well done my friend, I love it, so neat and has it all , even TV, you could start your own business. Steve from the UK
I'd have added curtains/blinds or something to the window and door, else you're getting woken up at dawn. Plus lockable catches for the fold-down bit (and the power socket inside the fold down bit as someone was already suggested) otherwise, that's a pretty cool mini camper
beautiful little camper .... and easy to make
Lovin' the camper.. top job. diminished only slightly by the caved-in front end of that thing towing it.
Looks like a portable Japanese capsule hotel pod!!! :D

Fun to watch, and great job! The fold out kitchen was a surprise. Makes me wanna go build something! But for all of our safety, I won’t. lol.
Something about a micro camper with a screen door struck me as the greatest thing I've ever seen 😁😁
Looks great..... I'm looking to build a two person camper.... nice design.
How much does it cost to build one?
And where did you get the door and the window from ?
Did I miss the bit where you installed insulation in the walls. A roof vent would have been nice.
1/16th would be awesome
so far, winter camping in there has been great with no wall insulation, that being said, in the summertime i bet we will need it
thanks for the advice!
@@ChayDenne actually i have a project going with this stuff (but no channel, yet)... it's called polywall at lowe's. label says "protects walls from moisture and abuse." should easily glue up to the underside of your stringers, very flexible too so don't have to kerf around tight bends.
I've actually seen people use those shower panels on the exterior of their micro campers.
I absolutely ❤ love the OSHA approved “safety squints” while cutting
I like the way you guys fitted the plywood and made it bend by putting groves in it. Awesome job.
What a great build! I think that I would have painted the bottom with that truck bed liner stuff to protect it from road spray. What did it cost to build?
The spray foam urethane (Great Stuff) attracks water and will turn to mush over time. There are two component pourable foams.
🤓
This is so awsome yet so small but fully usable imagine this times 2 bigger... awsome work
Camper is absolutely sick, great build
Pretty cool! I'll stick to sleeping in the back of my Outback and watching "TV" on my iPad though. Somehow just feels safer, easier to drive and get around. Love the passion though.
Nice concept. But with the materials used and how flimsy the side walls are, I bet anything inside would soon belong to others.
Cool build. The quotation on your wall is from the Dhammapada, a collection of sayings by the Buddha.
