Cool fact: before you dive into the last arena and fight Ganondorfs army the arena looks like a heart but not the cartoon style but how the actual heart looks like.
Tears of the Kingdom's endgame has to be one of my favorites in the series. It's especially memorable not just because of the music buildup, but also because instead of going _up_ to meet Ganondorf like in previous games, you go _down_ to meet him instead.
Let me say this out loud: Modular Dynamic Music is one of the greatest things to ever happen to video games and I legitimately can't think of a better example than TotK's modular music.
Pikmin (especially pikmin 3) have used dynamic music in a great way, pikmin 3 bosses are also very complexe, i invite you to see Scruffy's video on pikmin 3 boss music
The climb to the Wind Temple is another prime example of this. I was honestly more intimidated by that modular soundtrack than this one. Tbf, the Wind Temple was the first temple I went to and didn't know what to expect with boss fights from TOTK. But the dynamic music is what really drove that fear. You're already uncomfortable by the "cold" music that plays normally, but with all those added instruments, it filled me up with so much fear and thrill.
The best detail was when you walk up to the cliff, and it asks you to "jump", effectively ending the journey the same way it began (jumping off the first area into the sky garden)
Even had the same spherical platform like the great sky island And I'm pretty sure there's no other place in the game with that specific platform which is neat
@@LordMalice6d9that’s the thing, I never thought of ganondorf as a Satan figure, I thought that was demise’s role. Ganondorf has always been to me like a demigod version of ghengis khan. But totk ganondorf feels like an actual god
I never would've thought that the journey I began 24 years ago by being woke up in my bed in a tree in Kokiri forest by a fairy, would lead to this very moment.
When i jear the voices at the beggining i hear "Nous y sommes" wich means "We are there" so in this context just before the last fight it makes me feel as everyone is just waiting for Link to go down there and finally kill Ganondorf, such a encouraging vibe but also creepy, love this
Chills... I did not expect the finale to go this hard, man. I beat it a few days ago and it's been all I can think about since then. When I first got to the imprisoning room where you find Ganon at the start of the game, and it was just a massive crater, and the chants started to kick in, I had to stop and take it all in. That music wasn't something I ever expected to hear in a Nintendo game. It sounded straight out of Dark Souls.
The culmination of millennia of evil, of suffering, of effort, and of courage. And now, a plan spanning over 10,000 YEARS is coming to a close as 6 brave warriors throw caution to the wind, diving into the heart of a cesspool of evil, hatred, malice, and gloom, to finally put the Demon King down once and for all. Truly an amazing finale
Common misconception: it wasn’t 10,000 years. It all started in Rauru’s Hyrule, in the first kingdom. Then after that came untold aeons of conflict between good and evil, including echoes of every other game in the series we’ve come to know (or the games themselves, depending on how you interpret the timeline, but personally I can’t get the details to fit). This went on for so long that the Sheikah tribe became an advanced technological power, and learned not only to predict the coming of Ganon’s Calamity form, but fight against it with their own technology. _That_ was ten thousand years before Breath of the Wild. Then, of course, 9,900 years later, that same technology is corrupted by Calamity Ganon, Zelda becomes a being of pure light restraining the Calamity from within, while Link recovers from his critical wounds for 100 years. Then Breath of the Wild, and then several years later, Tears of the Kingdom. So… yeah. This is the culmination of an _incomprehensibly_ long history.
@@MrMisterkrazyBotW and TotK (including Rauru’s Hyrule) is probably at the end of a timeline, as there cannot be two male Gerudos alive at the same time for just one example. You are correct that it’s very common people say 10,000 years when it’s pretty obvious it’s further back than that. Also, Calamity Ganon returned after 10,000 years in BotW, which would actually make it 10,100. Great reply, just trying to help!
@@riley9577 I said “two male Gerudo” to debunk that some people believe Rauru founds Hyrule before Ocarina of Time, which is impossible, as Ganondorf is in that game. Also, yes, Calamity Ganon and Dark Beast Ganon were just malice being controlled by Ganondorf. Perhaps controlled is a strong word, but Ganondorf was the one who told them what to do; the simple order of: destroy.
This is quite possibly the best buildup piece for a boss I've ever heard. I also love it because it calls directly back to the beginning of the game, with the backwards chorus and ominous piano.
If you notice when you dive into the depths here, the pit is bottomless beyond where you fight the Demon King's army. I heard someone said this may itself be a portal into the Underworld itself. Every time I jump into a big chasm in a game, this song plays in my head now. This is what I'd define and atmospheric. This is the perfect way to make a build up to what you're about to face at the bottom of that big dive. Gosh I love the ending of Tears of the Kingdom so much.

I love the whole trip from the castle chasm to the final leap down to Gloom's Lair. Some of my favorite pieces in the whole game. Thank you for making these! Is there any chance you could make a version of the first two videos without the combat music mixed in? Or even have all 3 ambient sections made into one single video? I'd love the raw, building atmosphere that would have. Obviously no pressure if you aren't interested in that! That's just my personal dream track. I'll still be listening to these ones regardless.
