  • This suite comprises all phases of the Construct Factory theme from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The arrangement is strategically composed for seamless transitions between all tracks, much like what you would hear on an official soundtrack release.
    Additionally, I've included the theme that plays after Mineru's Construct has been assembled, when patrolling the surrounding area, and upon any revisits to the factory. However, it is included as a separate track on the unofficial OST.

    You ever just casually wander into a secret dungeon you didn't know existed? It blew my mind when I ran into this place long before I was meant to, even if I couldn't do anything there. The structure so lonely, the music so mysterious... it was magical.

      That does sound like a pretty beautiful tease. I happened to stumble upon Dragon Head Island actually, like i basically fell into the shrine… In hindsight, I kinda wish you needed to complete the ring ruins quest to access that shrine. I initiated Mineru's quest by total accident. While randomly exploring I decided to fly into the thunderstorm (I hadn't yet beaten all four temples). Happend to land on the island with the dive platform, landing just above it. The storm was too thick to do anything else, so I took the risk and jumped. As I fell lightning flashed and revealed the eye shape of the island below. It was one the coolest experiences of the entire game--one I would have missed had I gone the usual route. When I found the doors I realized that I had stumbled upon something important, but it wasn't until I touched the mask that I realized how significant it was. I'm playing through the game again and Mineru was my first sage. The music is so haunting and lovely, and there's something moving about wandering the depths and this music suddenly filling the emptiness.

      I think I got a lot more out of this portion of the story by running across it early (it was the second one I did) and not knowing what was going on than if I went the "intended" route.

      Wait you enjoyed more it cause you found this by accident ?
      Didn't that spoil the story for you?
      What about the progression of the story?
      I'm sorry I really can't understand how it's better to discover it by accident, for me it's even a bad point for the game to give so much freedom for the player.
      It's like discovering all of the memories before meeting the fake zelda in the castle, it just spoils the narrative already very weak because of the openworld style
      (Or nintendo just could add events with Ganondorf after two dungeons, or put an order for the dungeon so we'd not have the SAME cinematic 4 times thanks to the progression brought by this)

      @@justeunadometis3705 I haven't found the stories in any Nintendo games to be particularly captivating so I don't really care if I play it out in the right order.
      The only Zelda game that made me feel at least a _little_ something story-wise was Majora's Mask, but otherwise I find them all pretty generic. TOTK's story was already looking bad when I got irritated that Link apparently couldn't tell anyone it was a fake Zelda when I figured it out like, 2 hours after leaving the Great Sky Island, and when I realized that each sage interaction was copy and paste, that was it, I started skipping cutscenes at that point.

    • @psystainable
      @psystainable 9 месяцев назад +3

      @@justeunadometis3705arent you supposed to already know about the fake Zelda long before confronting it in the castle? You learn its a Ganon puppet pretty quickly, not even just from the dragon tears but from the odd stories (like reading Paya's diary, etc). Idk, i also played the story super out of order, but i have no qualms.
      You do have the choice to play it in order though....I'd prefer to have the freedom to choose than have a linear, spoonfed plot. Its obvious when you are going out of the storyline and if you dont want that you can get back on track. Its up to you, why would you want developers to take away the open world aspect and force you into a narrative progression? That doesnt mean its weak.

    • @djrobx
      @djrobx Месяц назад

      @@justeunadometis3705 I did it early, but it didn't spoil much of anything for me. One of the very first things I tackled was the glyphs while looking for shrines, because ever since the trailers of TOTK came out, I wanted to know what those were. I kind of glossed over Impa telling me to go to the forgotten temple to get the order (oops, probably PTSD from BOTW), so the that whole story got told out of order anyway.
      I absolutely enjoyed it more that way. Finding a whole unexpected temple was an amazing reward for fumbling around in some clouds that I assumed would be a waste of time. Most of the major story beats were following the same formula as BOTW. It was by far the best part of my TOTK experience.

    Something I feel like doesn't get mentioned enough is how clearly Mineru's voice is from the very moment she begins talking to you; both due to her proximity to you from her place within the Purah Pad and her skill with spirit abilities due to her inherent Sage abilities. Tiny little differences like these from the other sages just made her stick out to me compared to the rest.

    I really don't get why everyone gives this dungeon flak. It's where I think the open world format really shines. It's basically like OOT Ganon's Tower but expanded to allow for more freedom in puzzle solving approaches and with a more organic objective. I also really like the aesthetic visually and musically. This was my favourite dungeon out of the five by far (judging the temple itself not including the bosses).
    Probably helped I was one of the people that literally stumbled into the Temple from the Dragon Ilse with the perfect amount of hearts just after beating my second dungeon. I had no idea what was happening initially and thought it was amazing they hid a full dungeon away as a secret. Then they said "Here, have a mech" and I lost it. Ofc later I found out it was part of the main story and it took away some of the magic, but it was still cool AF.

      After all, she's presumably the very last Zonai, all others having died or disappeared so long ago that were it not for their eternal architecture, they would have been forgotten completely by the time of the ancient Shiekah. So far isolated from the world and way of life she once knew and belonged to, she may as well be a wayward astronaut touching down on another life bearing planet. Not even her flesh is left to her, having rendered herself incorporeal to uphold a promise.
      Don't you wonder how she must feel peering at Link through mechanical lenses, watching him use the arm of her dead brother as a prosthetic while she carries on as the heart of a glorified artificial servant? They were as gods, once. Now, they are only the beaten remnants, from a distant memory, to the farthest back legends that the most dedicated scholars of the present know of, and even that just barely. The relative lack of dialogue after awakening and housing her spirit is criminal. I wish we had the opportunity to see her reconcile with the world that moved on from hers, like we did with Rauru in the beginning of the game.

Aside from the obvious Rito = Wind, Goron = Fire, Zora = Water and Gerudo = Lightning, we only ever see Hylians with Time powers and Zonai with Spirit powers (I think Rauru has a similar Spirit power to Mineru, as his spirit looks the same as hers as opposed to Rhoam and the Champions). It would make sense if Fuse and Ultrahand use Spirit power tied to the Zonai, and it also makes sense for more Zonai to have access to this power since they're the initial owners of the secret stones.

    The lonely, synthetic pulses of electricity tie this theme together with all its moving parts. The slow rain of clings and clangs, followed by carefuly placed lines of instrument -- it grows from a few chords to a waterfall of percussion, crystalline swells and bouncing, hollow beats. The phantasmagorical, almost inexplicable way its song and story evolves from a dislocated, jittering machine to a full, meditative triumph both sonically and thematically, makes me completely at the mercy of both the brutal nature and the colossal technology buried deep in the history of Hyrule.

    I kind of danced around this quest throughout the whole game. I knew nothing of it, of course, but I discovered the thunderhead isles fairly early when grabbing the skyview tower in the area. I didn’t venture too far in- I couldn’t see, had barely any hearts, and very much didn’t want to be struck by lightning, so I resolved to come back with the thunder helm.
    I realized after picking up my second Sage that there must be five of them, in accordance with the number of rings- especially since Zelda’s sage bond was on the back of his hand. Why leave a finger free, if not for another Sage? I was convinced it had to be Paya, though.
    I found the construct factory while exploring the underground before picking up the fourth sage. I couldn’t figure out what it was, but I thought it looked sick as hell and resolved to check back periodically, to make sure I wasn’t gonna miss any plot triggers. I did speak to the steward construct in the temple, who told me about the thunderhead isles, but I still didn’t have the thunder helm yet.
    Reaching the point in the main quest where this all unraveled and came together was _incredible._

      Mineru still has her uses outside of sheer damage. She can wade through lava, water and bogs if it's not too deep, mine ore and rocks without having to damage your own weapons, can be jumped off for bullet time, and can be given any kind of weapon to fight alongside you with like frost and flame emitters for extra combo damage.

    /I really wish we had more experiences like this in the game. I really loved how in comparison to the other dungeons this one was really involved with you as the player needing to seek it out and make it happen. I love the music, and love the lore for this part. The construct itself may be clunky, but the execution of this part of the game was really nice and gave me the feeling of past zelda meets new zelda. So I had just gotten the 5th Sage quest, and the game told me to go investigate ancient ruins. So I thought “the Zonai Ruins, in Faron!” I then stumbled around for an hour, and decided to go look in the Depths below the Spring of Courage. Found the Construct Factory, struggled in the Left Leg Depot for a while, and looked up a guide. I never even thought about the Ring Ruins, and somehow didn’t think to enter the giant storm cloud above Faron. 🙄

    Is it just me or Mineru as a character seems a bit disappointing?
    Because at the end we should feel sad for saying goodbye to her, but she wasn't that present in the story, it doesn't hit like saying goodbye to Midna or King Daphnes. I think that there should have been more tear memories that showed us how good friend she was with Zelda, or at least one that show us when Mineru took Zelda to the construc fabric and Zelda used the big construct.

      The gameplay itself has been hugely addictive and satisfying, and the music is jam packed with heart, soul, and clever references, but the predictable and redundant storytelling, bland characterization, and canned dialogue made it feel like story was an afterthought.
      I generally don't expect much story-wise from Nintendo games; usually it's fairly generic and mostly seems to serve as context, but I guess their other games must have at least _something_ going because this game appears to miss it entirely.

Seeing all those variants is what got me into compiling soundtracks like this in the first place. I started to create medleys for my MK8DX playlist where each variation only gets played once instead of looped 2 times before transitioning into the next variation - like your style - AND IT ABSOLUETLY SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER!! :)
      In fact, yesterday I wrote a comment which for some reason was not posted to youtube. Maybe it was tagged from youtube to be reviewed by you? Anyways. I'd love to help you out with the TOTK OST by creating and editing the sound tracks that you perhaps assign me and then after I finished editing them I can send them to you. I'm only talking about the music files. When it comes to video animation - you're much more talented than me. I already have the .BWAV files extracted from the game ROM and have them ready to edit. I sadly was not able to start the TOTK project on my channel because I don't have so much time :( , so if I can help you out with a few tracks - as a side project - I'd be happy to help and contribute :). Please contact me and let me know your answer there. You find my contact info in my channel description.
      Yeah the Origami King OST was a big project that was pretty long. I think it took like 1 year or something like that. Now we have all music files and a clear understanding where they occur in the game, but it needs a consumer friendly playlist in a medley form. Like your TOTK OST! So if you'll be doing this and need help in the future, you can write me emails. I'd be happy to help :).
      You also can use the video descriptions in my origami vids where all the original file names are mentioned that are used in a video. @crimson_colla7961 helped me a lot with finding out when particular music tracks played. He did a Origami Project too in the form of big compilation vids. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you too. He's from brazil. I really love how the passion for VGM unites all of us ^^

      @wolfc9078 Год назад +8

      I honestly kind of agree with you, because while I didn’t dislike it, it definitely wasn’t my favourite by any margin. I feel that this has to do with the fact that you find it in the depths, and the depths aren’t my favourite part of this game. As well as the fact that I felt that they could have done more with it in terms of making it more separated from the rest of the depths. I think the fire temple did this better because it was designed in a whole different and unique ancient Goron style. Unlike the fire temple, the construct factory and spirit temple share the exact same architecture as all of the other structures in the depths, which kind of makes sense as they’re all of zonai origin, but it if had been like some big and enclosed structure with some still preserved and functioning Zonai tech in there and some unique types of constructs, perhaps even a unique dungeon miniboss, I think it would have gone a long way in terms of making the dungeon feel more unique when compared to the mines and other Zonai structures found in the depths. Sidenote: I have just now realized that unique dungeon mini bosses are completely absent in Tears of the Kingdom, I suppose that there are plenty of overworld minibosses, but the closest thing to a dungeon miniboss was sludge like in the water temple quest.

    • @wolfc9078
      @wolfc9078 Год назад +6

      As an attempt to clarify what I meant in my previous message, I’ll use an example from Skyward Sword, that being the Lanayru mining facility. While the entirety of the Lanayru desert is covered in the same type of ruined and run down technology as is seen in the dungeon, it feels like it’s the culmination or centre of all of this technology, the place where the timeshift stones are processed from all of the mining operations we’ve seen in the rest of the desert. When comparing this to the Construct factory, I guess I kind of realize that it’s sort of that the name and music kind of feel misleading. I was sort of expecting a big ruined factory where we get to see the development and assembly of the constructs we’ve been fighting this whole time, a place where we’d find the scrapped prototypes of old constructs and just generally see more mechanical stuff, have it feel like the source of all of the constructs. They could have also tied the construct factory to the development of some of the Zonai devices, as those were definitely mass produced somewhere, although that’s more of wishful thinking rather than what I actually expected to see from the dungeon based on its name. I feel like the constrict factory we got was too infected by the depths, and that kind of made it too much like the mines that we find all over the depths. There are genuinely aspects of the music that plays everywhere in the depths preset in this dungeon theme, which goes to show how close to the depths this factory is. I feel like the layout of the construct factory was far less vast and complex than I’d expect for a factory, consisting of one central building and four storehouses where the construct parts were kept. I think this is also a glaring example of how the dungeons were limited by all following the design of going to find the five (or in this case four) things, activating them, and then fighting the boss. (This dungeon did actually have that sequence of travelling to the spirit temple before fighting the boss, which makes it a little different, but still slightly boring) the sequence of travelling to the spirit temple was also not terribly enjoyable as it just involved traversing a path in the depths with Mineru’s construct, which wasn’t that easy or fun to control, and kind of felt janky to use, especially against the enemies that dotted that path, many of whom are most likely silver by that point in the game. Anyways, the construct factory was an interesting temple, and a very interesting idea, but it felt underwhelming, and the name misled me into believing that this would be a big factory dungeon like the Lanayru mining facility in Skyward Sword, which it was not, and I think it would have greatly benefited from taking more inspiration from that dungeon. However, that’s only my opinion worded very poorly in about seven incredibly long and confusing run-on sentences that took me about half an hour to forty-five minutes to write, during which I forgot what I was doing several times, so I most likely made absolutely no sense whatsoever. If this was your favourite dungeon, I appreciate that and despite how harshly I might criticize it, I did still enjoy this dungeon, and there were no dungeons I actively disliked, but this one was likely my least favourite. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like it, simply that I liked it the least.
