As a current Scottish cuber I can confirm we do not have a Scottish Cubing Association but we have recently gotten more delegates in the region raising the number from 1 to 4 in Scotland. Scotland falls under the UKCA and so we do have delegates from England travelling to help with comps on the day. As far as I am aware from being good friends with many UK delegates we will not be putting in a bid for 2026.
As far as I know, the UK Cube Association (UKCA) won't be sending a bid for Euros 26 (we don't have a Scottish cube association, only a full UK one). We have Scottish delegates, but the English delegate count is way higher. Even then, we don't hold major comps in Scotland, UK Champs is in Coventry, in England, but the UKCA are looking for new UK Champs venues (we've fallen out with the venue in Coventry), but I doubt it will be in Scotland, let alone Euros in Scotland.
the reason we fell out with coventry is bc this competition (today) is because there was very loud music and suuuuper loud bass from the pyramid scheme next door they also didnt turn down the music for blindfolded finals aswell >:( and also the room is slighty too small
As a Scottish person I would obviously love euros to be held in Scotland but I understand that it’s not the most easily accessible place. I don’t think Euros should be held in Scotland, as you said somewhere in the EU would work much better
cubing in the uk has absolutely taken off post covid! in terms of hosting majors, the biggest problem by far is cost. we have plenty of venues of a good size, but theyre so so expensive to hire that its not really doable for us to look at hosting just yet, fingers crossed prices of just about everything in the uk start going down a bit in the next few years but we'll have to see
I thonk it would be great to have a comp in the uk (as i live there) but i thonk it would be better ro have a comp somwhere in the EU beacause it would be easier for people who live in mainland european countrys to travel

1:20, within europe travel is not as much of an issue as there's no border checks between most EU countries.
Fun fact: uk champs was actually just held
Spain was crazy, was there myself, loved it
@@Zukatocuber fr it was!
gracias
I am quite surprised that none of them have been held in Germany. Or like... Sweden, or UK
Challenge accepted. But lets be fair, central belt makes more sense for the competition, easier to get to.
I concede that point. OK you're on venue detail in that case, go!
