- The last piece of the puzzle is going on the Trek Emonda SLR, it's now lighter than it was in my 1x setup, and it's most likely the lightest it's ever going to get.

dude, you should be making movies. Your creativity is outstanding. Even just the change of POV at the start is cinematic. Perfect music choice too. I'm awestruck.
Cheers mate, happy you liked it 👍
He's Swedish, that is why his videos are so good.😉
@@reinholdachleitner2069 Japo-Swedish or Swedo-Japanese: best of both East & West
Aaaaaand does not ask for likes and subs or waste peoples time with the same ad every other cycling you tuber has this week …. This dude rules … I really wish more “creators” had a “real job” so they stop looking like someone on the street with a hand out …. Begging for money. 🤦♂️
@@roadkill_toronto amen! Most cycling YT channels seem to submit to Wahoo! You never hear “thanks to _ _ _ for sending me this to review/use for free”
When you instantly have to like a video after 20 sec of playing :)
How epic can a intro be?
RoJ: YES!
Awesome video once again.
God your descents have my heart in my mouth
Loved the B roll and out take! Thanks for another enjoyable vid, always a boost to the day to see a new RoJ upload in the feed.
I'm convinced this channel needs way more recognition
Very nice bling! I've recently made the decision to buy a low end carbon frame with traditional seat post and stem configs, so I can cash out on some nice weight weenie bits. Those cranks are gorgeous.
Excellent plan! The expensive boutique parts usually outlives a few frames in my experience 👍
Made the same decision, wheels and cranks are the first things to change!
A cinematic master piece! Thanks for making :)
Cinematics outstanding!
LOVE THIS CONTENT! This is the most beautifully produced content I’ve found on RUclips. Well done. IMO, Decisions are made in an instant. Time spent “considering” is just you understanding/rationalizing why you made that decision (Matrix vibes). 130 BCD is tough for a climber.
So nice to watch and follow Your journey!
lol I love these - always something unique on this channel
Another work of art!!!
As usual great content + my cup of coffee. Perfect!!
Great vid and thanks for the bonus clip
Thanks for another Epic video! Your content is second to none.
Waooo, What an amazing intro, better than in the movies :)
Your videos motivate me to build my own road bike. 😎
Another epic masterpiece!
Really enjoyed your riding at the end! You’re a skilled rider
i enjoyed that so much that i am going to watch the video again
The descent at the end makes me realized how much I mssed riding in Japan
The ending to your well put together video may be my favourite part 🤪
that descend was amazing!!!!
That descending footage is great!
Super nice nice video,I wouldn't mind one of those,I've been having a lot of crank woes lately, stripped chainring bolts.Safe riding.💯💯👌✌
Nice update. I was just rewatching your crash and Open-rebuild projects when this video dropped - 3 days after a crashed myself, broken collarbone, so needed some good motivation. Thanks
Heal up fast mate! Bones heal, bikes we can fix 👍
👍🙏
Your production values are always so impressive. I don't know how you do it!
Crazy light! Who else was tilting head according to bends in the end?
What a great and creative vlog. That second THM crank is a thing of beauty and you deserve it.🤣👍
perfection is key to having a great bike . looks like we have something in common chasing grams . waiting for THM to make the left crankarm bolts to come in black then will get the cranks . don't now why they didn't make them black in the first place to match the rest of the cranks . keep making them great videos .
All these videos do is remind me how loud my bike is! Great content, once again.
Jesus the intro on this video is insane!
yaaay! always psyched for a new upload! Love it already (havent even watched more than 1 sec)
Don't act like you didn't weigh the UCI ILLEGAL sticker before putting it on!

Great to see the comment…thinking of the same I do not feel like a freak anymore 😘
Lol !!! Didn't notice either
Amazing as always man.
Love your vids so well done
I am always amazed watching your videos, how little traffic there is, how lovely wish the UK 🇬🇧 was the same.
Just insane 👍
Insane intro.insane weight savings. Insane nice guy.
Awesome, as always! Thank you! And cool descent. :-)
That looks like such a cool place to ride a bike
9:36 "A new crank improves descending, right?"
But you are the same "old crank"! (Only a crank would spend a gazillion dollars for a crank, but I have to say, I could be persuaded for this one...)
Thank you for another great descent video!
That decent looked quite fast. Nice.
I love your videos.
Oooo yes, good times 👌
Don’t ever change; you seem normal to me, keep the crazy ball rolling !
This makes my day 😀
Finally another video😍😍
I mean - what an intro... Awesome stuff
The new carbon ti 12 speed rings are flawless with da 12
Tobias' videos are a Hollywood production value of what goes on in our obsessive bike tinkerers brains. Expressing the un-expressible! Ha.
GREAT
i'm pretty sure my bike weighs three times as much as yours ^^
Outstanding video as usual!
God damn! those parallel road metal grills looks hungry for skinny tires. my heart skips a beat everytime i see you pass them
There’re not that intimidating in real life I promise ;)
You actually should be in the movie business. You're pretty passionate and it shows in your product.
Lmao, luv that ending 🤣🤪
Just finished a 2022 Checkpoint SL build with an 830g Rival 1 crank (incl. chain ring). Shed a small tear at 5:42
Great vid and some very nice descending!
Cheers mate! Those descents are missing you sensei!
I am definitely missing that descending feeling! Gotta get back out there! What descent is that, BTW?
It’s that short 横松郷 climb in Tokigawa
Gotcha! Cheers!
that thm weight is impressive, my carbon fsa sl-k triple weights 720 gr with all chainrings i am happy to see my old school crankset is only 30 grams heavier than actual DA standard
You can buy a bike for the total price of those parts!
Great video as usual!
I went the same route like your matte version THM SE with Carbon Ti chainrings, I like the look. They announced the EVO version a day after I bought mine! Using it with 11 speed Di2 with no issues as I have not made the move to 12 speed yet due to availability.
got some "ad astra" soundtrack vibes from the intro
Nice descent old man
I'm a simple man. RoJ posts - I click.. life is good...
First, that intro of the crank was beautiful. Second, I'm a mechanic at a bike shop and we built an Emonda for a customer very close to this. Based on your use I can totally rationalize the desire to shave weight. The customer we built the bike for does like 200 miles a year on it so that is a sickness I think.
Yesterday a couple guy's (between 45 and 60y) arrived with their 500.000€ Rv (more the size of a bus) at the campground, pulled three S-Works E-MTB's (14.500€) out of the garage. Couple weeks back I (57) rode a bit with a woman (43) and she had chemotherapy recently. Even she rode a normal and pretty heavy bike here in the spanish mountains. I have only scorn for those lazy and fat folks in my age with their E-MTB's. And do not think they go full send with those full suspension bikes. They ride fire roads! Ridiculous!
The 2015 Trek Emonda SLR with Dura Ace 9100 and Paradigm wheel set (almost 1400grams) came in at 6.2kg. I know, I know it had rim brakes but straight off the shelf at that weight with no fancy pants components.
Same here. #rimbrakedefenceforce
epic sticker
She's a looker for sure. Great content as always man! Love the channel. I've been on a similar journey myself, with the exception that my girl is of the BMX race flavor. The sickness is real, Jk 😜
My girl is a plus size model ( Pro XXL ) she's very health conscious & keeps herself on a strict diet. She just lost 458g & is currently sitting at 5937g after an all new cockpit.
My projected goal of 5000g. I expect it will require a fresh wheelset as well as crankset.
She's a handful now and is a bit difficult to read in response to being so light now whereas the average bike has considerable more feedback. But she blows my mind! 🤯
Just thought I would share with a comment in order to help with the algorithm in hopes of helping you prosper.
Dude I was reaching for my phantom brakes on one of those turns! Really great intro and really gorgeous cranks! Keep safe mate!
Love it…have 3 of them…you should try the 3T Torno LTD for singlespeed…lightest crank in the worl d (made by THM in Germany)…just saying…
3:33 perfect vid for yours other channel 😁
The thm clavicula is a very nice crankset, I built a couple of fascinario 0.7’s using thm crank, and with scapula forks. However the best climbing bike in my opinion is the look 695 with the one piece zed crank, makes everything else seem floppy.
I need this cap :)
"UCI Illegal sticker is 0.1g" Hilarious!
thats like my dream build, but maybe with an integrated bar/stem
What goes up must come down.
You might consider buying a winter insulated time-trial suit for the extra bit of speed.
Nice descent! Thanks! You could publish more of these-different channel, this one for those glossy vids and the other, for a low-barrier to publish, “unedited” ones?
very nice video. think the shifting issues are due to the distance between the two rings: 12v shimano are 2mm closer to each other, comparing to the 11v crankset. it appears that aftermarket manufacturers don't take this into account when declaring compatibility, despite in fact, when it comes to shifting efficiency, this is a primar and preminent factor. especially given the fact that chain and teeth shapes are the very same, according to shimano.
Don’t know who started these rumors but 2mm would be a massive change in ring spacing, if that was the case the FD settings in the app would be maxed out in either direction on non-Shimano cranks, which it is not. So more likely it’s 0.2mm if I had to guess. (But that’s just a guess)
the chain line has changed though, and is 1mm more outboard.
@@ridesofjapan my mistake, 0.2 must be. btw, this distance has been decreased only working on rings (and not on the spider). if i'm not wrong, carbonTi rings are the very same (in their central part).
Absolutely beautiful. Love the descending at the end. Should be included in every video. Have you considered having a buddy film you coming down? It would make for some incredible shots. Plus data overlays of course. Stay safe brother.
I’m not going to turn into the next Safa, there can be only one ;)
Also I don’t want to get deported 😜
What an intro! What epic cranks! BTW what are those bottle cages! I NEED to know
Cheers mate, check this ruclips.net/video/beizNqugDHc/видео.html
If i had a you tube channel I hope it would be half as good as yours. Thank you.
What a great descent……
Awesome descend, no cars at all!? 😀👍
Me (living in the upper midwest): "Wow! That's a really smooth road."
Him: "The road surface is not the best..."
09:38 the answer is always yes
Great videos thanks. I have family in Tokyo and Miyakonojo Kyushu. Just wondered if you had any good climbing routes to ride in these areas or any advice where I might find some info. Taking my bike after years of not being allowed to. Kind regards Mark.
Take a look at this video 👍
ruclips.net/video/X-fwtmxrlt0/видео.html
Hope it's one-way road. 😱
Just to correct you. You can actually fit a minimum 38 tooth chainring to a 130bcd chainset. I have a Stronglight offering spinning happily away on an Ultegra 6700 5 arm chainset.
I think you have to watch for steeper mountains from now.
Another great video !
The descent was really fun to watch !
What width bar and what bar tape did you mention ?
Maybe another tshirt:
“ Fast descending NO BRAKE FORCE “
Cheers!
I use 40 c-c bars
Tape is “most superlight”
@@ridesofjapan Thanks !
Epic Intro, man! Loved the decent clip, like it was never going to end... lol. What bar tape are you using?
Luv the content, I'd like to know where the course with the decent is located, do you have the course posted online?
Another awesome one! How do you do the electrical tape like that? So neat and tidy.
Cheers mate!
Make sure you cut the tape so it ends at a straight 90 degree angle. And most importantly don't stretch the electrical tape!
OMG
I would be soooo nervous about dropping a chain with an over shift
Yikes !
Intro us like watching a movie 🍿. 😀
Man, i know this oot question but would be great if you have your workshop/studio tour for this youtube recording purpose? Or I miss that if any? many thanks!
that paint job....
Have you tried Fabric’s cageless bottles? I use them mainly because they work, they’re cheap, and they look nice (especially when you have only one bottle). But they might also save some grams without other compromises.
Yes, I use them for bike packing
As a weight weenie I can only approve, but would love to see a steel Crescent being modernised on your channel to show the rest of the world the old Swedish steel so to speak :P
Very difficult to find an old crescent frame here in Japan though ;)
@@ridesofjapan mm I get it, but why not some proper Japanese steel :P Guess that would be super expensive though, pretty sure Japanese people cherish their old school bikes/brands compared to us in Swe.
He, he, it's something like -30C in northern Sweden.
Life is short. Have a passion and be twisted in it. Peace
