    First, that intro of the crank was beautiful. Second, I'm a mechanic at a bike shop and we built an Emonda for a customer very close to this. Based on your use I can totally rationalize the desire to shave weight. The customer we built the bike for does like 200 miles a year on it so that is a sickness I think.

      Yesterday a couple guy's (between 45 and 60y) arrived with their 500.000€ Rv (more the size of a bus) at the campground, pulled three S-Works E-MTB's (14.500€) out of the garage. Couple weeks back I (57) rode a bit with a woman (43) and she had chemotherapy recently. Even she rode a normal and pretty heavy bike here in the spanish mountains. I have only scorn for those lazy and fat folks in my age with their E-MTB's. And do not think they go full send with those full suspension bikes. They ride fire roads! Ridiculous!

    She's a looker for sure. Great content as always man! Love the channel. I've been on a similar journey myself, with the exception that my girl is of the BMX race flavor. The sickness is real, Jk 😜
    My girl is a plus size model ( Pro XXL ) she's very health conscious & keeps herself on a strict diet. She just lost 458g & is currently sitting at 5937g after an all new cockpit.
    My projected goal of 5000g. I expect it will require a fresh wheelset as well as crankset.
    She's a handful now and is a bit difficult to read in response to being so light now whereas the average bike has considerable more feedback. But she blows my mind! 🤯
    Just thought I would share with a comment in order to help with the algorithm in hopes of helping you prosper.

  • @Franzollo87

    very nice video. think the shifting issues are due to the distance between the two rings: 12v shimano are 2mm closer to each other, comparing to the 11v crankset. it appears that aftermarket manufacturers don't take this into account when declaring compatibility, despite in fact, when it comes to shifting efficiency, this is a primar and preminent factor. especially given the fact that chain and teeth shapes are the very same, according to shimano.

    • @ridesofjapan
      @ridesofjapan  2 года назад

      Don’t know who started these rumors but 2mm would be a massive change in ring spacing, if that was the case the FD settings in the app would be maxed out in either direction on non-Shimano cranks, which it is not. So more likely it’s 0.2mm if I had to guess. (But that’s just a guess)
      the chain line has changed though, and is 1mm more outboard.

    • @Franzollo87
      @Franzollo87 2 года назад

      @@ridesofjapan my mistake, 0.2 must be. btw, this distance has been decreased only working on rings (and not on the spider). if i'm not wrong, carbonTi rings are the very same (in their central part).
